Borneo Street Dance Competition 2011 for the 1st Time in Sabah!

Have you heard about street dance? What it is all about? Watch this video to get some idea about it.

Isn't it cool?

For the first time in Sabah, the Borneo Street Dance Competition 2011 (State Level) will be held on 19^th November 2001. There will be 20 groups participating in the competition. This event is organise by Ministry of Tourism Malaysia to promote tourism thru dance as their tagline. The Borneo Street Dance Competition 2011 will be held in 3 locations starting tomorrow in W.P Labuan (12 November), Kuching, Sarawak on 13 November and Kota Kinabalu Sabah on 19 November. The finals will be in W.P Labuan in conjunction with the Labuan Arts Festival.

Attractive prizes to be given away, winner will received cash money of RM1,500, 2nd place will received RM1,000 and 3rd place will go with RM500.00. Plus for winner in 2nd place n 3rd place will be flown to Labuan by The Ministry of Tourism Malaysia to represents it's own state for the Final Borneo Streetdance Competition. For the final stage winner will received cash money of RM5,000, 2nd place will received RM3,000 and 3rd place will received an amount of RM2,000. And not forgetting to the other participation for the final troupe will received RM500.00 each. WoW! That is some prize I must say!

About Street Dance

The Dougie is a hip-hop dance generally performed by moving one's body in a shimmy style and passing a hand through or near the hair on one's own head. There is not a defined way to perform the Dougie, and each individual performs with his or her own variation. Rapper Corey Fowler, nicknamed Smoove, of Cali Swag District said, “Everbody does it different…The way you do it defines you."

OMG! I left my blog to rust?! Geezz.....guess I am kinda busy nowadays with alot of things. But I am super excited about my upcoming holiday trip in a just a few months time. Must save $$$$$ for my shopping spree!

On another note new puppies is in da house! From her mummy is mixed Chihuahua, Poodle & ?? (I guess is Tibetan Spaniel?? from the papa? I dont know who is the papa ok :p) WILD GUESS only ok....hehe. They are now 1 month old and running amok taking control of the house like Royal families.

And guess what? I have tumble upon into some death threats. Can you believe that? What did I do to you? (You know who you are). So childish! GROW up for god sakes. Even though I am an atheist, so believing in God doesn't exist in my dictionary. I believe in Myself. HA! I don't wanna know or hear what you have to say. YOU yourself did it to yourself and NO one force you! Instead of sending death threats, blame yourself first and see who is the real one in control. "wasting my time, saliva, sweat or etc" for this little space just to type this lousy comment! HUH!

My Aftermath of X45

My X45 trial session at Core Fitness last week ended with a big bang! I have never guessed that the sessions were so unconventional. I have never really join a proper Gym or done hardcore training. All I can think about was involving some Gym equipment. I was wrong and that was GOOD! In fact using our own physical movement and minimal equipment involved!

X45 or better known as Xpress45 is a new concept created by Sam Tan, the Managing Director of Core Fitness. Read here what he has to say about this new fitness concept he wish to bring to us KK folks here.

I was invite to join their free 3 trial session on Monday, Wednesday & Friday which start at 6.30pm at their newly opened 2nd branch at Centre Point Sabah. It involved a lot of different exercise focusing on specific area while giving fast result. I must say after those 3 sessions, I can feel that my strength, endurances and stamina was pretty much improved. My limit was push to it max with some GOOD pain. I always feel healthier and stronger the next day. Each session lasted 45 minutes which started with warm-ups, intense workout and follow by cooling down.

X45 is based within a group and with the supervision of a fitness instructor in every session. That is a big PLUS as you won’t feel alone while getting yourself in shape. When you sign-up for X45, you will met X45 fitness instructor like Eiji Low and Kirksman Teo.

Eiji Low has 10 years of weight training and exercise experience, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®), a US-based certification issued by NCSA for professionals who design and implement strength training and conditioning programs for athletes in a team setting. He is also a Personal Trainer certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and has worked with clients from all age groups, and has experience working with bootcamp programs and competitive athletes. Eiji's personal mission is to assist people in achieving their fitness goals and enhancing sports performance for athletes.

Kirksman Teo is a former powerlifter turned weightlifter, who also happens to be an International Business graduate from MMU. However, he later pursued his true passions and studied weightlifting, gymnastics and bodyweight movements under coaches from China, Bulgaria, Georgia and Russia.

How much would all this will cost you ask? It’s RM750 for non Core Fitness Members and RM500 for members. Session is 12 classes conducted 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday & Friday) with allowances for you to complete all sessions within 2 months.

Entering The Linux World and The Re-Enter

It’s been almost 10 years or so since my last tango with the open source world aka Linux. Back then Linux was still in its infancy. Not very user friendly, not colorful and complicated to understand and use. It was totally a different world from Ms-Windows. Like a parallel universe somewhat. This post is going to be pretty technical if you have nil knowledge of Linux, so beware! ^_^

Circa – When I was around 25

My first experience with Linux was by accident. Being a total geek made me somewhat of a loner but still with a few close friends. Got into the computer club in school since 13 and up till 18. All that I can learn from the school computer club was not enough to satisfy my hunger for more information. I once saw a movie back then of a kid’s story communicating from USA to Japan just by typing on the computer screen. It made me think computer can do much more than just simple word processing. It was like an internal movie in my head that one day I would be doing the very same thing.

Fast forward to the when I was 25, I got myself working in a computer firm and it was around that time the internet was just beginning. Suddenly my mind just went BANG! All I can think was with the all the information my head can handle from the internet was going to be one hell of a RIDE! I got myself a Desktop Computer at home while I was doing my computer diploma. From there I started to really move forward, venturing into more wild adventures of the information superhighway. All I was using was Ms-Windows 95. Then just one day I stumble upon the open source system on the internet. Read about UNIX, Linux and Mac. One particular system catches my eyes which is Linux. It’s a free system and distributed worldwide. Dig out more information on how, when, who and the sorts of things. It was like a Zen moment that time I started my journey from being a newbie to a power user. It was crazy! I took my desktop MS-Windows 95 system and convert it to DUAL Boot with Linux. I tried Slackware, Redhat and a bit Debian. Basically, I got myself so deep into the linux world that Ms-Windows 95 on the other side of my desktop hard disk was 80% ignore. Heck! I can do a lot of the same things I wanted to do in MS-Windows 95 in Linux. So, why not I just convert my whole hard disk I think to myself. Being back then, Microsoft was fully monopolized, making the idea of a totally conversion was not possible because Linux is open source, no specific supports, has to get solutions and trouble-shot thru communities forums and from other people experience. By then, my desktop system was going to be out of date as 5 years has passed since my first journey with Linux. I can’t put my Desktop into more use other than the plain old Vanilla MS-Windows 95. MIA from the Linux world ever since.

The Present

It was last year the ending of 2010. I have just reviewed my wish list of all the things, I wanted to get for the New Year. Next on my list is a new laptop to take the place of my good old Compaq which I have been using for the previous 5 years. Running on MS-Windows XP, has its ups and downs. I wanted to get another brand new Compaq and perhaps with Windows 7 in it? I had my budget around RM1,500. I comb thru HP website looking for the perfect laptop that suits my budget. All that I can see is a nice laptop with FreeDOS as the OS. I was thinking to myself, what am I going to do with the FreeDOS? I could buy a separate Windows Pack? Nope, that would require another RM300! It’s out of my budget. I halted the decision to buy the new laptop until the end of February 2011. I asked some advice of what to do with a FreeDOS laptop with Faizal. You see, Faizal is a Mac and Open Source fanatic. Just like that, he mention Linux! He told me Ubuntu is the current easiest Linux GUI in the market. I was like ermmmm, not sure if I wanted to re-enter that world. I was thinking all the debugging nightmare, headache and sleepless night before. He said unless I am a hardcore gamer, I should be fine doing the normal stuff like typing, internets, music and movies. As I think to myself, yeah it could work out this time. I mean after so many years of my MIA surely Linux has grown-up a lot right? Errr….well kinda XD

The day I got my brand new Compaq laptop from Karamunsing, I also bought some blank CDs to do some burning of the Ubuntu OS. I have also done somewhat a little bit of reading about installing Ubuntu before that. It was errrr a nightmare revisited! Firstly, Faizal recommended that I install the Netbook version 10.10 without knowingly that it should be for netbook not laptop! Gone thru the installation process and BAMM display resolution all wrong, no sound, no nothing! I was like OMG, here I go again! Then I related my terrible nightmare to Faizal, he said it could be the version problem, netbook has limited support in terms of hardware. I was like ok, yeah that make sense to me. Proceed to install the Desktop version 10.10 and BAMM again another display resolution all wrong, still no sound, even got the X Server bootup problem and won’t auto boot to GUI too now? I comb thru the Ubuntu support forum online looking for answers and solution. Perhaps someone out there has done it before and has the answer I am looking for? It has been the 5th day since I started my venture with Ubuntu. Sleepless nights digging the internet and the Ubuntu Support Forum for an answer. No luck in my editing of configuration files, drivers updates or new packages installation. I posted a help call in Ubuntu FB twice and suddenly some Chinese fellow from China told me to re-compile the Kernel to an older version. A bit blur, I google up the Kernel version. I got the answer that it’s an older version of Ubuntu version 10.04. I reposted my question to the Chinese fellow and he told me that it’s the only way to get my laptop running and speaking to me. Well, if that’s the solution to end my sleepless nights and nightmare, let it be. I got Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and ready for a final showdown! It has to work this time or I might go MIA again! After the installation ended, I rebooted my laptop and waited a while as I search for more possible answers online with my old laptop. Its boots straight into GUI with beautiful colors but no sound coming from my Altec Lansing? Tried plugging in the sound port, I can hear tiny music. As I knew my laptop is trying to speak to me. Back combing thru Ubuntu Support forum again. Got some suggestion to upgrade the ALSA and Realtek driver to latest version. Rebooted and then a sound came from my new laptop! It was calling, talking to me! I was like OMG! It was the first most beautiful sound coming from my new laptop Altec Lansing since a week ago when I first bought it. As it boot up, it continue to go straight into the GUI. Then I double check the display resolution, webcam, USB connection, WIFI and it was ALL PERFECT! As I started to venture around the Ubuntu system I felt finally at peace! It was already the 7th day that I am able to sleep a silent night. Felt happy and joy finally that my journey of the re-enter has been complete.

After a few more days of toying and playing with the system, I got my Ubuntu to look like a Mac OSX! How cool is that? WAY COOL I say! XD As of today, I manage to post on Twitter, FB, chats, emails, played a few simple small games and it all work out just fine. All the while, the system never hangs or freeze like my old Windows XP does sometimes which was pretty annoying. Surely, Linux it’s so good to see you again my old friend ^_^ There you are and I am glad that I haven’t lost all of my Linux touch yet!

'BEYOND THE REALM OF CONSCIENCE' casts at 1Borneo by Astro!

I am so Star Struck! Yes, I am still, ok. XD I got an invitation from Dinoza as Media to attend the "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" Meet and Greet the cast at 1Borneo Hypermall on 6th November 2010. I was over the Moon! As I aspected the crowd would be huge, so I went there early before the Media session started. Thanks to Astro too for the entry! :)

The 33 episodes' series will debut on Astro Wah Lai Toi (Channel 311) on 30th November at 9.30pm, airing every Monday to Friday. Since the series is a costume television drama, I got the information that the whole series took the cast 3 months to complete! Moses Chan also mention some funny situation where he was playing a dumb dude running around LOL! Anyone know that Astro is bringing the casts from BEYOND THE REALM OF CONSCIENCE? The TVB series would be on air on Astro Wah Lai Toi (Channel 311) which premiers on 30th November 2010 at 9.30pm. The TVB casts like Moses Chan, Susanna Kwan, Edwin Siu and Selena Li will meet and greet the fans at the Centre Atrium, Ground Floor, 1Borneo this 6th November 2010! The show will start at 7pm.

This synopsis is taken from Astroview - "It is a dog-eat-dog world in the Imperial Household Bureau. Determined to come out on top, Ling uses cruel tactics against anyone who stand in her way...including her bestie Ho".

Its seems such a long ago I have updated my blog on the happenings around me. Since I have a heck alot to say these days, so on with it without any due delay.

First up is Twilight! Yes, you hear me right is the Movie. Well, not the movie exactly but I got myself those absolutely beautiful Limited Edition Twilight Diary! Wohoo! They are so nice "am on Cloud NINE". They are affordable in my case, so I got the diary for my collection.

Next up is those Super Duper COOL Canon Camera Lens Mug. When I saw them online, I was like "OMG!" @.@ Just got to have them! Its the actual size Canon Camera Lens alike Mugs. And recently, I have been a OPI fanatic fan. Hey Girls, Who doesn't know OPI?? Alot of OPI fans knows KK shops sells OPI at ridiculous high PRICE! So, I got Online start searching and found a reliable supplier which import OPI from USA. And the price you ask? Its half, nope three times lower than the local price! Quality? NO sweat girls :D I got myself started with 11 bottles of OPI currently and its gonna grow bigger very soon. Besides that, I got myself hook on Nail Stamping Art too. Anyone knows Konad? Its the Nail Stamping Art originated from Japan which took the World by storm. Its available in Malaysia but however KK shop does not sell the Original Nail Stamping Art sets. The only way to buy those set is thru online shopping and delivered from the Konad Malaysia shop in KL. Well, those stamping sets are not cheap too. Especially if you want to keep buying those Special Polish as they claim its much thicker and suitable for stamping. So I decided to crawl around KK shop looking for alternative. And you know what? I got the scraper, stamper and design plates for so MUCH LESS. The only problem is getting the suitable nail polish for the stamping purpose. I try out a few brands of nail polish and got a couple of pretty decent result I must say. Its was tried and errors experiment and I still need more practise to get the designs nicer. Check out my OPI and Nail Stamping Art experiment which was pretty much failed. LOL

10 Things Women Do Better Than Men

I recently found an interesting articles from Cosmo USA. I am gonna re-quote the article here for your reading pleasure.

1. We evolve hotter.
A recent study revealed that women are getting better looking through evolution; meanwhile, men are staying the same. After following more than 2,000 people through four decades of life, the study showed that attractive women had 16 percent more children than average-looking chicks and that beautiful people are 36 percent more likely to have a daughter as their firstborn. All those gorgeous daughters mean more beautiful women than in past generations.

2. We survive car accidents more often.
This is sad but true: Men are 77 percent more likely to die in a car accident than women, according to a study done by Carnegie Mellon University. Our boyfriends should be thanking us when we nag them to "Wear your seatbelt!"

3. We're better at seeking comfort.
A Mind survey of 2,000 people revealed that women are far more likely than men to talk through their problems. Fifty-three percent of women talk to their friends about what's stressing them out, as opposed to 29 percent of men.

4. We're more recession-proof.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 80 percent of those who have lost their jobs since December 2007 have been men. Ouch. This could be because male-dominated fields have been hit the hardest, like manufacturing and finance. That really sucks...but hey, maybe it's time more men became nurses and educators.

5. We graduate college more often.
We already know that female enrollment is higher than male, but the Department of Education's statistics reveal that men are also less likely than women to graduate and get their bachelor's degrees. Men are also more likely to take longer than five years to complete their degree.

6. We eat healthier.
A survey of more than 14,000 people, conducted by the University of Minnesota, showed that women choose far healthier foods than men. While men are more likely to chow down on frozen pizza and red meat, women are piling fruits and veggies onto their plates. It all sounds pretty obvious, but we get so much grief for our chocolate addictions that we just had to point this one out!

7. We have stronger immune systems.
No wonder men act like such babies when they have a sniffle — women really do have stronger immune systems than men! If there are little battles going on in our bodies, women have a secret weapon: estrogen. A study done by McGill University indicated that estrogen gives women an edge when it comes to fighting off infections. That's because estrogen confronts a certain enzyme that often hinders the body's first line of defense against bacteria and viruses.

8. We live longer.
Among the world's population of those who are over 100 years old, 85 percent are women, according to the New England Centenarian Study. In general, women continue to live five to 10 years longer than men as well.

9. We're better managers, especially in this economy.
This one is a little controversial, but a slew of experts are confident that women make greater bosses because they are better listeners, mentors, problem solvers, and multitaskers than their male counterparts. In a recent Daily News article, management expert Jay Forte said, "It's a very service-oriented economy [right now], so you need employees to be motivated. Women are better connectors than men and more astute about knowing how to activate passion in their employees."

10. We invest better.
A study of 100,000 portfolios showed that women's investment returns outperform men's, 18 percent to 11 percent. This could be because women are typically more cautious with their investment decisions and think longer term.

Yes, that's right! This post is about the ugly side of Ego. What good does it brings you? Its not nice to treat ego as the your proud character. It will eat you alive and leave you with no hope or wishes. People will not see your ego as nice thing to have.

What century are we in which ego still a trend? Its not cool to be egoistic especially to people who cares about you. You can make priority but you should not show your ugly egoistic face to people who care about you. If you do that means you have no heart, no feelings, no compassion and any decent heart to show your sincerity.

This post is dedicated to those who have a huge ego that they cannot live a life with people who care about them and be ALONE. Instead they choice to live far away from home, friends and family. They choose to live lonely, miserable, egoistic, no future, no plans and push people away when things get tough. So tough, that they go hide like a mouse in a hole and dare not face people and when is challenged to defend themselves. These people wont be able to face reality and always live in fear because they think too many of a single step. One lousy step also they would think ONE HUNDRED MILLION times. For god sake, they cannot be relax of themselves, cannot be facing with challenged. They are the one who will jump ship if you put them in charges. Yes, thinking over something is good for decision making. Of course its good, however when you play people thoughts and strings them around is not. Trust is also another important issue for them. Their ego is so huge, other people cannot question them. Yes, you cannot criticised in whatever they think or do. Eventhough you care and is just plain concern about them. You can see them around you, they live alone, own space and own thoughts in their own world. I know a few of them, they live alone, miserable and lonely.

I just wish they got a reality mirror to show how ugly their life is.......For God Sake...

My Stuff from Vistaprint finally arrive!

I got my stuff from Vistaprint on Monday! Yeah! I opt for the "slow" shipping charges to save some $$ but it all worth the wait. I ordered the name stickers, a t-shirt, pen and a book of sticky notes. It's all customized with my Name and Club name. I got them free, just have to pay for shipping charges and I must say its fabulous. I ordered the Namecards, postcards, Note Pad and Magnet Calendar from them before. I blog about that here. So this is my second order and it wont be the last I tell you =) Vistaprint! You are the Best!

A Walk to Remember

Last Saturday, I went for a photo shooting session with a dear friend at Magellan Sutera Harbour. Been eyeing and waiting for it almost 2 weeks before the plan turn out just PERFECT except for the rainy afternoon. Manage to get some pretty good shoots with the help of my dear friend. He teaches me alot on how to get a good picture. So far, its a walk to remember for me and I am still figuring out the next walk. These are the shoots I took which I think is pretty decent with pretty good feedback of cause. =)

Dragon Boat Race At Likas Bay

Last Sunday, 20th June 2010, I went for the final day sport event (The Dragon Boat Race at Likas Bay). The race started at 8am and I reach there around 7:45am. There was alot of people watching the bay already. I got my parking spot with no problem and headed for a nice spot along the beach and set up my tripod and camera. I should have bought some used newspaper or a mat as I was unable to sit down as the grass was wet from the rain the night before >.<" No choice but have to stand the whole time. These are some of the photos and videos I took during the race.

I pack up my stuff and left around 10am as the Sun was already blazzing too hot that time. However I got my photo shots, so that was fine =) This truly tested my skill on shooting fast motion sport action. Pheww!! Luckly I was please with some of the shoots. Thank Goodness!

The 4th Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival 2010

Last Saturday 19th June 2010, I went for the KKJF at Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club after winning a 1-Day Ticket from Lifeandstyle.com.my. I was the first one to collect the ticket from Elson! XD (see photo for prove “Number 1!”). Since I can’t go on Friday night due to other plans, instead I opt for Saturday night. Talk about Saturday Night FEVER!

Went there a little bit early to find a good parking spot and headed towards for the Covered Tennis Court at the Club. I find myself a good view of the stage and waited until around 7.30pm as the shows starts. It was really one of the most electrifying nights I ever had. Man! talk about Jazz Music at its Best! Throughout the show, I got to snap some photo and record video. I also manage to grab myself a KKJF T-shirt. It’s a wonderful night indeed! Please enjoy the following photos and videos =)
