			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Idebenone (pronounced eedy-be-known), a super antioxidant, is now being used in select anti-aging skin care products. That&#8217;s good news for you if you need to get rid of some extra wrinkles that none of us can avoid as we grow older.</p>
<p>While idebenone has been known for a long time as a pharmaceutical agent, it has arrived to the realm of skin care only recently. In fact, some skin care companies claim it as a new, cutting-edge discovery. But, can it really benefit your skin?</p>
<p>In the 1970s and 1980s, researchers had been studying the potential of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), including its ability to improve heart failure, reduce free radical damage and slow down certain neurological conditions. CoQ10, a vitamin-like natural compound found in all aerobic organisms, plays an important role in cellular energy production and is also an effective antioxidant. Trying to boost CoQ10&#8242;s therapeutic effects, scientists synthesized and tested a variety of its chemical analogs and derivatives. Most of these derivatives were found ineffective or unsafe. However, one of the few exceptions was idebenone.</p>
<p>It is closely related to CoQ10 in its structure. However, idebnone is more effective than CoQ10 in protecting cells from the free radical damage resulting from reduced blood flow.</p>
<p>What does all this have to do with skin care? Recently CoQ10 has been shown to improve skin wrinkles. Not surprisingly, some skin care companies decided that CoQ10 analogs might do a similar or better job. So, they found out that idebenone was also a good anti-wrinkle remedy.<br />

It&#8217;s important to realize that free radicals that form in the skin in response to the sun&#8217;s ultraviolet rays are largely responsible for wrinkling and other signs of aging. To fight these damaging molecules, cosmetic chemists developed this topical antioxidant that&#8217;s even more powerful than natural antioxidants such as vitamins C and E.</p>
<p>Results of a clinical trial were presented in February 2004 at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology. They wanted to find out which ingredient offered the best protection against free radicals. Well, it was idebenone that finished first against vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, kinetin, and alpha-lipoic acid.</p>
<p>The benefits of this ingredient include shielding skin from environmental damage, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reducing dryness and smoothing skin texture.</p>
<p>Antioxidants help protect against the damage caused by free radicals in the environment. Free radicals are unstable compounds that occur naturally in the body and try to stabilize by attaching to the nearest normal cell. This results in a chain-reaction because once the free radical attaches to a healthy cell, it too becomes a free radical in search of stabilization causing cellular damage. Antioxidants, such as idebenone and others, stop this process by donating a molecule to the free radical making it stable.</p>
<p>But, you should know that although idebenone is thought of as a wrinkle reducer, it is more of a skin protector. It is a true antiaging phenomena because it blocks the causes of aging and treats its effects. For best results, use it in addition to a broad spectrum sunblock.</p>

<p>In fact, the Sun Salutation is a sequence of twelve yoga positions, linked together by a flowing motion and accompanied by five deep special breaths. * Lower your hips, while inhaling. Point your toes and bend as back as possible. Your shoulders should be kept down and your legs together.</p>

<p>* While inhaling, step forwards and place one of your legs between the hands. Keep your chin up, while resting the other knee on the floor.</p>
<p>* Bring the other leg forward and bend down from the waist keeping your palms on the floor. Exhale.</p>
<p>* While inhaling, stretch your arms forward and then up and back over your head and try to slowly bend back.</p>
<p>* Return to the upright standing position, while exhaling, and bring your arms to your sides.</p>

Amongst women, pregnancy, sexual intercourse, diabetes or a past urinary tract infection leads to such kind of infection. The risk also increases when they wipe from back to the front after a bowel movement.</p>
<p>Typical symptoms include necessity to urinate frequently with the inability to pass more than a small amount or pain and burning sensation during urination or even dribbling or leaking during day and while sleeping. <p>Either they have an unhealthy lifestyle  working long hours, eating out all the time, not getting enough exercise  or they simply eat too much, often in a compulsive way.</p>
<p>This type of eating  eating when one isnt hungry, for example, or eating for emotional reasons rather than physical hunger  is really a type of addiction. It should be understood as an addiction, and it often is.</p>
<p>For example, the group Overeaters Anonymous functions on many of the same principles as AA or other twelve step programs. Excessive eating is treated like an addiction because thats exactly what it is.</p>
<p>But if thats the case, its easy to see why this addiction might be harder to treat than some others. The way to deal with an addiction is to stay away from the behaviour thats out of control  alcoholics cant touch alcohol, for example. The idea is to not do it at all until the addiction becomes a thing of the past  in fact, for many addicts, they can never indulge in their addictive behavior again, not even once.</p>
<p>With food addiction, though, thats obviously impossible. People have to eat  theres no getting away from it. Thats why food addiction, though its an addiction to a non-lethal substance, may be the hardest of all to deal with. And thats also why companies such as Slim-fast, who produce and market meal replacements for people to use while dieting to lose weight, actually do succeed in helping some people.</p>
<p>The idea behind meal replacements is that you dont really eat at all for a good part of the day  instead, you have a special shake or other product that gives you all the nutrients you need, and stops you from feeling hungry. This works in two ways: first, it controls the calories you take in, because the meal replacements are quite low calorie. Second, it breaks the cycle of addictive behavior because youre not really eating. You can get away from the behavior much as an alcoholic can (and must) get away from alcohol, and that gives you a better chance of breaking the addictive process.</p>
<p>Though most meal replacement plans do recommend that you eat one normal meal per day, some people who are serious about losing weight dont do even that. Thats precisely how Oprah Winfrey once lost a lot of weight  about fifty pounds. She said that she found it easier not to eat at all (subsisting on meal replacement shakes and bars) than to control her eating. When you know that you wont be eating real food at all for a while, it takes the guesswork out of it. Everything becomes very straightforward, and its a fact that many people have lost weight using this method of weight loss.</p>
<p>There are drawbacks, though. For one thing, while a weight loss program is supposed to teach you about how to eat for the rest of your life  to establish healthy habits, in other words  using meal replacements clearly doesnt do so. Once you go back to eating real food, you might find that your problems with controlling your food intake are still there. Though you will have lost weight, you are more likely to gain it back if you havent learned healthy eating habits.<br />

Also, theres a danger that some people will keep on using the meal replacements for extended periods of time, just because its easier and more convenient. Thought they re designed to give you a minimum level of calories and nutrition, meal replacement bars cannot substitute for real food over an extended period.</p>
<p>However, if you know or suspect that your problem with food resembles an addiction or compulsion, it may be worth your while to think about using meal replacements for a while in order to lose some weight. Try to make the time you spend using them as productive as possible, though. Really come to terms with your past behaviour, and learn what it feels like to be full but not stuffed. Figuring out the answer to these and other aspects of healthy eating will help make your weight loss permanent.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We all know the importance of eating healthy foods for their vitamin and mineral content. However, in recent years, scientists have discovered that there are hundreds of substances in food that have healing and disease prevention properties.</p>
<p>So why, if there are foods that will heal many of our common ailments, have we not heard more about them? Maybe it&#8217;s because, just as we&#8217;ve become a fast food society, we&#8217;ve also become a fast cure society. We&#8217;re always looking for the easy way to cure and prevent diseases by just popping a pill.</p>
<p>Just look at the increasing number of ads on TV and in magazines for drugs. Often the side effects are worse than the disease they&#8217;re meant to prevent or cure!</p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be better to use natural remedies? Remedies with no side effects, to cure and prevent diseases? Of course it would! That&#8217;s why I decided to write this article. Here&#8217;s to a healthier life!.</p>
<p>Perhaps as a child you were told by your mom to eat all your carrots because they were good for your eyes? As you grew up, you may have cynically been told by others that this was just an &#8220;old wives tale&#8221;. Guess what, recent studies have shown that Mom was right! Foods can prevent eye disease, heart disease, arthritis and much more.</p>
<p>Some Basic Science:</p>
<p>In recent years scientists have discovered that foods contain &#8220;phytochemicals&#8221;, which is a fancy name for naturally occurring chemicals. This is not the same as nutrients, which we all know are the substances necessary for sustaining life.</p>
<p>Phytochemicals have properties that can aid in disease prevention and cures. Scientists have identified thousands of these chemicals in the foods we eat and a single serving of fruit or vegetables can contain as many as one hundred different phytochemicals.<br />

The most commonly known phytochemicals are the antioxidants. Antioxidants protect our cells from damage by toxic substances and free radicals (a by-product produced by our bodies which converts oxygen into energy). Free radicals can damage cells in our bodies which can lead to disease. Antioxidants protect the body from oxidation and reduce the risk of acquiring many common ailments.</p>

My parents took me to a lot of different types of speech therapy, some in groups, some on a one to one basis. The kind of advice I was given to control my stammer or to overcome my stammer were varied. These are some:</p>
<p>slowing down my breath<br />
costal breathing<br />
prolonged speech<br />
taking a deep breath before I spoke</p>
<p>I had began in the class called, preschool stammer. This term is labelled by the stammer speech therapist or the stammer speech pathologist. My parents were reassured that most people who stammer in childhood soon grow out of it. Well I was one of those who didn&#8217;t.<br />

I then joined the class called, childhood stammer. I continued to attend speech therapy and joining in with their speech therapy activities and their speech therapy games.</p>
<p>I then progressed to the class called, adult stammer. I now decided that speech therapy was not really working for me.</p>
<p>I decided to try my own form of stammer self help. Even though I had a stammer, at times I could talk very well. As an example when I was drunk, I spoke nearly perfectly fluent.</p>
<p>After nearly a year I managed to overcome my stammer and eradicate the stammer once and for all. As a career I now help other people how to stop stammering.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Meditating outdoors? Does it really matter where you meditate? I think it can. For some of us, being outside makes for not just a different meditation experience, but a more profound one. There are some good reasons for this.</p>
<p>perhaps meditating in a quiet room with no sounds and nothing to distract is the easiest way, especially for beginners. It&#8217;s hard enough to quiet your mind without constant input from your surroundings. On the other hand, life is constant input, so if you want the peacefulness that comes from meditation to enter your life beyond your practice, perhaps learning to meditate despite surrounding sounds and movement is just what you need.</p>
<p><strong>Meditating Outdoors</strong></p>
<p>There&#8217;s a high bank on a river where I lived years ago. It was a five-minute walk from the house. There&#8217;s a level grassy spot at the top, looking down on the water fifty feet below. That is where I would go to sit. Often there was a breeze I could feel on my skin and hear in the surrounding trees. I also heard the water as it strained through some dead trees near the river bank. I smelled the dirt around me, and the odor of fish coming up from the water.</p>
<p>Meditating there wasn&#8217;t only pleasurable because of the environment, but also different from meditating in the silence of my home. There was more of a sense of experiencing the world without thought, without over-analyzing. Why? Perhaps simply because there was more to experience. There were the sounds, which included birds, and the occasional splashing of some animal in the river. There were things to smell and the feel of the grass.<br />

I usually close my eyes when I meditate, because I am a very visually-oriented person, and find it easier to meditate this way. When I finished my meditation by the river, I would open my eyes, of course, but what I saw was always different from what was there when I started. Of course it was the same, but I was seeing it differently, as if for the first time. While difficult to explain, this is easy to recognize if you have had the experience.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s wonderful to look around as if seeing for the first time. You are seeing without preconception. I might see a deer on the opposite bank of the river, but the thought &#8220;deer&#8221; wouldn&#8217;t cross my mind, meaning it wouldn&#8217;t cloud my vision with any ideas about what a deer is or should be. The sounds and sensations were also &#8220;new.&#8221; I think this more direct experience of life is a profound demonstration of how much we normally &#8220;live&#8221; through our thoughts, somewhat detached from reality.</p>
<p>If you haven&#8217;t already tried it, why not get outside for your next meditation? Sit on a hill or in front of a garden, or try standing in front of a lake or pond when you meditate. The view will be wonderful when you open your eyes. There is nothing quite like meditating outdoors.</p>

Thrush is not a serious disease but it can cause great discomfort for its sufferer. The best thing you can do then you think you have thrush is to see a doctor immediately. There are also many over the counter medicines that are effective in treating thrush.</p>
<p>But aside from seeing a doctor and using over the counter medications, there are many things you can do at home to treat thrush.</p>
<p>1. The first thing you should do at the onset o thrush is to clean the affected area by washing it with plain water. It is not advisable to use soaps, shower gels and bath gels because these products can worsen the infection. Make sure that the affected area is always clean, cool and dry.</p>
<p>2. When you have thrush, avoid using lubricants and spermicidal creams. These products can make your conditions worse. You should also avoid latex condoms because latex or rubber can cause irritation.</p>
<p>3. Do not let synthetic fibers or materials touch the affected area as doing so could cause further irritation. You must wear clothes or undergarments made from natural fibers so as to minimize irritation.</p>
<p>4. Stress can trigger thrush this is why you should learn to relax and fight stress. Do not put yourself in stressful situations as much as possible and try to learn different stress-reducing techniques.</p>
<p>5. Make sure that your partner does not have thrush before having sex.</p>
<p>6. Melaleuca Oil is an effective remedy for thrush. You can buy Melaleuca Oil at alternative medicine and herb stores.</p>
<p>7. Aside from Melaleauca Oil, another effective natural remedy for thrush is Aloe Vera gel which can also be bought in alternative medicine and herb stores. Apply the Aloe Vera gel to the affected area.</p>
<p>8. Avoid oral contraceptives and broad spectrum antibiotics when you feel you are susceptible to thrush.</p>
<p>9. Individuals suffering from iron deficiency anemia and diabetes are more susceptible to get thrush than those not suffering from these diseases. So if you suffer from these diseases you must be doubly careful in avoiding thrush.</p>
<p>10. Avoid alcohol, steroids and too much sugar if you feel that you are susceptible to thrush. These substances can prohibit the growth of Candida Albicans.<br />

You can also try to follow a restricted diet for at least one month. The restricted diet can help you determine the particular foods that triggers thrush. You can then avoid these foods to avoid acquiring thrush.</p>
<p>13. Probiotic supplements that support friendly fungi in the gut such as acidophilus are also found to be effective in treating thrush.</p>
<p>14. If your thrush is persistent and does not respond to home remedies then you should begin to see a doctor. You should never ignore a persistent thrush infection. Or else it could lead to a much worse condition.</p>
