But what is the origin of that phrase? This story and passage from the Word may give a hint. After chiding his audience (the religious leaders who mocked his teachings), Jesus asked: "Why are you trying to kill me?" And further added:

Thoughts dictate intention

Practice makes perfect, so don't think about it

As an amateur golfer with a high handicap, I know the value of practice on the course and on the range.

Practice I get, but like most players at my level, I am sometimes daunted by the significant list of things to remember about the game.

The club grip
Slow back swing
Club position
Head down
Follow through
Balance
Closing position

... and that's just the "short" list for the tee box, not to mention the fairway shots and putting.

No wonder so many proficient golfers make great royalties with how-to books!

Lots to ponder, but that may be the crux of the issue: Too much thinking?

Not known as a golf instructor, but a life instructor, source WWD* writes: "Everyone knows the experience of 'performance anxiety' whether you are a prima ballerina or a job candidate or a student taking a qualifying exam. Life is filled with what we think of as performance challenges. The key word here is think because it's really our thinking about these experiences that scares us—not the opportunity to show what we can do. "

According to this source, Dr. Wayne Dyer is affectionately called the "father of motivation" by his fans. Despite his childhood spent in orphanages and foster homes, Dr. Dyer has overcome many obstacles to make his dreams come true. Today he spends much of his time showing others how to do the same.
