This whole idea of expressing yourself online in different aspects, from music to pictures to what you follow, eat and travel around to, has become a little extra load for some people to carry around.

Even though in real life they might totally be different people than what they are showing themselves to be online. A plus point is that someone who is shy and reserved can open himself up online, but if a person is not that way in real life, then what is point of such an image in online existence? Also, there are more ethical questions which need to be answered. Most importantly, how much can you be inside of someone else’s head and life? With almost a constant vigilance and following, social media existence, if it were to be a real-life face to face interaction, would have led most to exhaustion.

But this duality of online and offline life has another plus to consider and that is about how much you can voice your own opinions and ideas. This aspect of revealing yourself in terms of your thoughts is what is best that social media services can offer. After watching a YouTube video, users generate debate, praising or criticizing. Through online forums on different niches, they activate a discussion and movements. Twitter is being used to report crimes in vicinities and also for journalistic reporting where there are no other media available due to censorship. The CyberPsychology and Behaviour journal says that people behave openly online because they know they are free.

A recent study done on the voters of the Academy Awards shows that these highly respected people making decisions on which piece of entertainment should win are experts, but not representative of a diverse group of people in a community. American is a diverse nation demographically, often termed as the melting pot of not just Europe, but since the past two decades, of the entire world too.

But this same reflection is not seen in the 5,765 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). The Oscars are considered to be international awards because of the wide reach that Hollywood movies have and also because at the Oscars foreign films and filmmakers are also celebrated and appreciated for their works with nominations in dedicated categories only. This is a disappointing truth actually and the Academy should do something fast to mend this white-male patriarchal image.

The Oscars

The study was done by The Los Angeles Times, which found 94% of the voters to be white and 77% males. This proves that non-whites and females have largely been left out again in expressing their taste on what films, directors, actors, and cast and crew members should be chosen to be outstanding in a year for a particular piece of art in filmmaking and can considered to be worthy of Hollywood’s highest honour. Only 2% are Blacks and also 2% are Hispanics.

Though this is something that is known for long about the Academy, but the study serves as a good reminder. To defend the prestige of the Academy against any kind of stigma of prejudice, the President of the Academy, Tom Sherak said that they are trying to diversify its membership rolls.

On my Samsung Galaxy S2, the latest market app (3.4.4) randomly freezes my entire phone, causing me to have to hold the power button down to reboot. Happens nearly every time I browse for apps in that version. My goal: prevent the automatic updates.

Before you continue, please ensure that your Android device is rooted and that you have BusyBox [Market Link] installed.

DISCLAIMER: Vsocio.com will not be held responsible if you lose data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide. Proceed at your own risk.

Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Market and tap on uninstall updates to go back to the version of Android Market that came built-in with your device.

Step 2: Download, install and launch a terminal app such as Android Terminal Emulator [Market Link].

Step 3: Type in the following command:

su

You need this to run the commands in Step 4 and 5 which require privileged access.

Step 4: Type in the follow command:

touch /data/app/com.android.vending-1.apk

Step 5: And the following:

chattr +i /data/app/com.android.vending-1.apk

According to the developer behind this, Steps 4 and 5 place a “bogus” APK file where Android tries installing the newest version of Android. The chattr command disallows Android to update the file. The developer has also mentioned that you can stick to current version of Android Market by going skipping Steps 1 and 4, but this hasn’t been tested.

We would like to know why you prefer sticking to an older (in this case, oldest) version of Android Market. We have had stability issues at times too, but they get fixed either by clearing data from Manage Applications or by installing a slightly older version.

Google will invoke its new, unified privacy policy on March 1st and if you’re worried about potential privacy issues then now is the time to get your Google account all set before the switch is flicked.

Once the new privacy policy comes into affect, your browsing history will become available to all other Google products. That means that while your browsing history is currently hidden away from Google’s applications, that will all change come March 1st.

While this may not be an issue to many, some will raise the concern that this browsing data can potentially contain details that they may not wish to be shared. Sexual orientation, location, interests and just about anything else could be gleaned by thumbing through someone’s Google browsing history, and come March 1st it is all fair game for all of Google’s products and services.

If this sounds like something you might not be too keen on, there is a way to clear the browsing history right now, before Google opens it up to be plundered by Google’s ever-growing suite of applications and online products.

If you’re going to clear everything out now, you’ll need to:

Head on over to your Google account’s history page at www.google.com/history
Choose “Remove all Web History.”

Click “OK”

The best part of all this is that the selection you just made doesn’t only clear your browsing history, but it also pauses the collection of it. From now on, and until you tell Google otherwise, your browsing history will no-longer be saved and thus, it won’t be shared.

Of course, we’re all sharing our information with just about every service on the internet already, and whether the information Google has as part of your search history is really that important is a matter that will cause debate for some time to come. Google, Facebook and every other large online presence would rather we all shared our entire lives online, and so long as we get a service for free we’re perfectly happy to do so until a potential privacy issue crops up.

If you’re really that worried about privacy then it’s only a matter of time until the only way to be confident nothing is leaking out is to switch off your Wi-Fi, bolt the doors and close the windows. Sharing is becoming part and parcel of our digital lives, and turning of browsing history isn’t going to change any of that.

They were the youngest celebrities ever to have hosted the show. Their performance received negative reviews with harsh criticism across the whole US media. According to the reviews, Hathaway appeared unnecessarily excited that gave a tinge of overacting and Franco looked bored to death and unserious about his performance.

In his defense Franco said when asked about it that he might be having a “low energy” but he asserted, “I honestly played those lines as well as I could”. Hathaway termed her experience as “several different experiences”.

“There was the critical reaction, which was awful. Then there are the people who have been coming up to me since then who stop and say, ‘I thought it was fantastic. I watched it with my family and we were entertained.’ I am very grateful to those people. And then there’s my memory of it – which is, whether it was great or whether it stunk, who knows? I still got to walk out on the Kodak and see those people and someday I`ll get to tell my grandkids about it.”

Though, Hathaway did a better job of hosting, but lacked reciprocity from her co-host Franco that made the overall hosting for Oscar awful. This year, which will be the 84th time Oscars will be presented, the ceremony will be hosted by Billy Crystal, who seems like a reliable choice for AMPAS when no one else fits the bill.

With the collaboration of the telecommunication companies in Pakistan and infrastructure vendors along with Microsoft, the 3G technology will be available for the customers.

The role of software companies is important because they maintain data-based technology with content supply and applications to customers through their networks. Microsoft Pakistan is looking for better technical and business aspects for the upcoming 3G technology in the country and negotiations regarding this matter are underway. Microsoft is especially trying to work out with the cellular companies on this. A lot of economic activity is expected with the launch, especially employment for the professionals and youth.

Microsoft Pakistan has launched the National Student Software Accessibility (NSSA) Portal in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) which has given software technology a go-ahead. If Microsoft Pakistan succeeds in getting further into the 3G technology, it will truly become the leader in this new sector, a position that it already has with the 95% of the software technology used in the country produced by the software giant.
