With the Golf VIII, Volkswagen promises an entirely new digital experience – but the new model also scores with its classic virtues. The handling and driving experience are first-class and the direct steering in particular lends a sporty feel. Now, we present the first matching tuning products. Ever since the first options for the Golf 1 during the 1970s, we have accompanied every generation of Golf with a comprehensive programme. Both then and now, lowering is essential to create a sporty appearance. ABT suspension springs reduce the chassis clearance of the Golf VIII all round by between 25 and 30 mm, depending upon engine and specification. By doing this, not only is the handling improved, but the Golf also takes on a significantly more sporty appearance. The set is also suitable for cars with adaptive chassis control (DCC).

Lowering also creates the perfect opportunity to showcase the range of ABT alloy wheels. As such, the first three available designs come into their own in the wheel arches. The silver ABT ER-C is available in 18 or 19-inch sizes with tyre options of 225/40 R18 or 225/35 R19. The elegant designed FR-C rim features an impressive, diamond-machined wheel body in mystic black. The distinctive wheel for the Golf VIII is available in 20-inch exclusively and with the option of 235/30 R20 tyres. The same sizes apply to the especially dynamic ABT Sport GR with its diamond-machined, matt black finish.

Altogether, the listed components are a smaller taster of the final programme built around the Wolfsburg best-seller. By summer at the latest, we will also be able to provide a range of performance upgrades for the petrol and diesel engines.

When youâ€re on the road, you encounter different drivers, each with their diverse driving skills and on-road characters. All drivers are required to have a valid driving license while driving a vehicle. However, for most drivers, having a driver’s license isn’t a guarantee for being responsible and practicing safe driving.

Professional drivers need to focus on and be aware of their environment at all times when on the road. Nonetheless, with fatigue, most drivers tend to lose focus by getting sleepy while driving, which results in car accidents. Fleet owners can equip your vehicles with fleet cameras systems to monitor driver behavior when they are driving.

Practicing safe driving at all times when on the road guarantees the following benefits:

At the top the list, it helps you to avoid the risk and danger of collisions, which could result in death or permanent body injuries. Secondly, it helps you save on fuel by maintaining an optimal speed at all times. Avoiding rapid acceleration and deceleration reduces the fuel consumption of your vehicle on a daily basis.

Safe driving also increases the engine life of your vehicle since it reduces wear and tear. This saves you money since your vehicle wonâ€t require frequent repairs caused by careless driving.

For businesspeople in the transport industry, encouraging their drivers to practice safe driving enables them to increase profit margins, since they will spend less on the vehicles.

Below are some of the ways to stay safe and productive while driving.

Ensure Safety
Tightly secure any cargo that may move around when the vehicle is moving. This ensures that the load is intact and doesn’t fall, guaranteeing safe delivery to your destination.

Additionally, ensure that you put on your seat belt and that it is tightly fixed—in fact, this should be the first thing you do before starting your car.

Avoid taking any form of drugs that may negatively affect your performance when behindthe wheel. If you comefrom a night out and are drunk, it is wise to calla cab rather than drive, as you will not only be putting your life, at risk but also that of other people on the road.

Keep your phone away and avoid fiddling with the radio, as this will distract you while driving. Finally, observe speed signs and all other road signs you encounter while driving.

Have A Safe Driving Plan
A driving plan is a list of things you need to ensure before beginning to drive. Some of the things include:

Correctly adjust your seat, side mirrors, and climate controls to ensure you are comfortable before igniting your vehicle.

Should you feel the need to eat or drink, pull over to avoid multi-tasking, which may result in accidents. If you are making a long trip, schedule time to stop for a rest, to make calls if necessary, and also to do other activities.

Ensure that the vehicle is in roadworthy condition, such that it meets the minimum requirements for any car to be on the road. Before starting your trip, plan your routes to avoid having to refer to maps or satellite navigation systems, which may divert your attention while on the road.

Make sure that you have a flashlight, first aid kit, and warning triangles, which are necessary in case of a vehicle breakdown.

Things like hoses are a good example, all too often overlooked and ignored…until they fail in spectacular fashion. Forge Motorsport is well placed to fix issues like this before they become serious, which explains why it has just released a replacement chargecooler hose kit for the VW T6, a product that’s been shown to fail at advanced mileages.

Perhaps the most commonly modified van on the UK’s roads, the VW T6 blends great looks with practicality and performance – not something that can said of its rivals! It would be wrong to gloss over the T6’s faults however, with hose failure being an all too common complaint from owners running high mileage or highly tuned busses. Forge’s latest kit has been developed to enable the owner to modify or colour code the visible chargecooler hoses on the car, namely the x2 boost hoses and x2 coolant hoses.

One of the principle reasons for OEM boost hose failure is thanks to continued exposure to both temperature and pressure and, most significantly, degradation from oil contamination. The need to combat these 3 factors led Forge Motorsport to construct its replacement hoses with an expansive inner layer of Flurosilicone, an addition which not only makes them extremely resistant to oil exposure, temperature and pressure, but also means that they’re suitable for use with modern long-life coolants, Organic Acid Technology coolants or air containing oil mist.

Forgeâ€s kit ships with everything needed to ensure a secure, leak-free fitment, including CNC machined alloy couplers and jubilee clips, both carefully chosen for this specific application. It means that not only are the hoses built to OEM standards, they can be relied upon to perform faultlessly for countless miles, and even comes with a limited lifetime warranty for peace of mind.

Cobra Technology & Lifestyle lends the new Volkswagen SUV full-blooded racing looks with high-quality accessories made from stainless steel and aluminum. The flexibly mounted stainless-steel guard with a tube diameter of 60 millimeters is designed to absorb energy in a crash, while protecting the front end from damage at the same time. Crash tests with this innovative accessory showed it stayed well below the strict limits set by the EU Directive 2009/78 on pedestrian protection. For this reason, the accessory was issued an EC type approval, which eliminates the need for individual safety inspections and amending the vehicle documents.

Using a unique camouflage print wrap, the Abstract concept highlights the recently released 2018 Golf R with DCC and Navigation. The car rides on 20-inch FR design wheels in Mystic Black from ABT Sportsline and uses an H&R Springs Sport Spring system that lowers the vehicle by an inch. ABT also outfitted the Golf R with side skirts and an uprated stainless steel performance exhaust system with four end pipes and matt black chrome 4 inch exhaust tips that gives the powerful Golf R an even more dynamic sound. The camo design takes cues from the robust urban street art of the Wynwood Art District in Miami, FL where the North American office of ABT Sportsline is located.

There are few arrivals as eagerly anticipated as the VW Golf Mk 8, which is expected to go on sale sometime in 2018 or 2019. The Golf has always been a UK best-seller since its first release in 1974, yet it has struggled to live up to its reputation as a hatchback leader in recent years with the developments of the Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus and Audi A3. Some see the Golf as somewhat dated and this has led to a slight dip in popularity with the GT now a favourite.

Golf Revolution
The German manufacturer has clearly noticed this and appear to have a trick up their sleeve, as they claim that they Mk 8 will undergo its biggest transformation ever in a bid to re-establish itself ahead of the pack. VW is promising a Golf “revolution” which will include a completely digital environment where the steering is the only analogue function. In addition to this, it is said that the interior design will be completely redesigned, and a host of hybrid technology will be included.

Continuity
The exterior design and shape wonâ€t change drastically as it is considered a classic and faultless design. Additionally, many of the same engines and transmissions will be used as this has been key to the Golfâ€s success over the years with an engine to suit every type of motorist. This makes the new Golf another great all-rounder and one that will appeal to many different groups. This will give the Mk 8 a feeling of familiarity and consistency which is important with such an iconic automobile.

Engines
The Mk 8 will have a range of both petrol and diesel engines available, but it will also feature mild hybrid technology (the first VW to do so). This will provide similar levels of efficiency to diesel engines, but as a cleaner alternative. This will be vital for the Golf in the wake of the VW emissions scandal and proposed 2040 petrol and diesel ban.

The upcoming Mk 8 is already highly anticipated and will likely make quite the splash in the hatchback market. The GT trim has emerged as a VW favourite within the last few years, but it will be interesting to see if it can stay on top of the pile once the Mk 8 hits dealerships like Unbeatable Car in the near future. Based on promises of a revamped automobile which uses the latest technology and cutting-edge design, it is easy to see the new Golf emerging as a class leader right off the bat.

They say that the more things change the more they stay the same, and this holds true even in the ceaselessly evolving world of automotive tuning. Case in point, Forge Motorsport. You’d struggle to find a firm more closely associated with the white hot heat of technological progress than the Gloucester outfit, yet it’s also aware of the value of timeless tuning. Old school tuning doesn’t come much older (or indeed much more effective) than induction work, hence why Forge has announced the second fitment option within its Hi-Flow range, an intake for the VW Group’s ubiquitous 1.4 TSI engine.

Funneling more air into an engine has been one of the best ways of netting increased bhp since the internal combustion motor first barked into life, yet it’s one which Forge Motorsport has recently turned its considerable resources to in earnest, hence its all new Hi-Flow range of carbon fibre inlet tracts. The second product to join the Hi-Flow range, Forge’s latest offering promises builds upon the firm’s years of experience fettling small capacity VW engines, all wrapped up with an intricate knowledge of air flow rates and how to maximise the performance advantages offered by high end composite materials.

The core of the new Forge Hi-Flow kit comprises an airbox and front air scoop, both rendered in high grade carbon fibre. These were developed as a direct result of an extensive customer consultation process, one which ascertained that the majority of TSI owners wanted an aftermarket hardware which worked in conjunction with the OEM VW airbox. The result is a kit of parts which effectively work with the standard VW airbox, with the most significant component being the carbon fibre airbox lid and imposing looking front scoop, the latter also rendered in carbon fibre.

Evidence of Forge’s commitment to its R&D process can be seen in the manner it approached rendering its Hi-Flow models in carbon fibre, with the firm turning to another company, one with extensive experience of working with this advanced (not to mention specialist) composites. The result was an altogether more sophisticated method of production employed in the construction of all Forge Hi-Flow intakes, Autoclave. This involves This involves the use of up to 10 bar of pressure that is blown into a 100% billet mould to force it out. This high amount of pressure ensures the material is fully in contact with the surface of the mould, which in turn creates a weave that’s tight, solid, strong and completely free from imperfections.

Not only is carbon fibre both lightweight and resistant to the kind of temperatures generated by all internal combustion engines, it’s impossibly cool, a fine addition to the engine bay of any VW. More to the point, Forge’s Hi-Flow intakes form a free-flowing inlet tract, one which has been specifically shaped to funnel large volumes of cool air into the engine at an immense range of knots and with minimal restriction.

The carbon parts are twinned with a less visually spectacular but no less significant part, a specially created Hi-Flow intake hose that mates up to the airbox and therefore totally eliminates the highly restrictive plastic inlet pipe VW saw fit to use. The Forge hose sports a smooth bore multi-ply construction shown to increase airflow, improve efficiency and performance, meaning it’s the perfect partner to the high-end carbon kit mentioned above. The house can be ordered in red, blue or black, and comes supplied with all necessary clamps and fixings.

Forge’s Hi-Flow kit also includes a specially selected Pipercross filter, one with excellent filtration properties designed to protect the 1.4TSI from inhaling damaging particles, debris and other detritus. Pipercross have over a quarter of a century of experience designed and selling state of the art filters for road and competition machinery of all shapes and sizes, and the multi-layer foam filter selected for this application has been proven to flow a massive 30% more air than the stock VW equivalent.

The comprehensive design of the kit means that it’s far more than a mere visual upgrade over the standard VW part, it’s been proven to provide genuine increases in performance, and it’s all down to the ‘ram air’ effect it generates. This ensures that only atmospheric air from outside the engine bay is inhaled by the 1.4, negating power loss from warmer, less oxygen rich air which might otherwise be ingested. Extensive dyno testing on Forge’s own development car has seen impressive hikes in performance, as much as 10 peak wheel horsepower over the stock airbox and filter, with even more potentially available to those owners running Stage 2 tuned vehicles. Whilst power gains may vary depending on the modifications and level of tune of specific cars, this kit will offer a significant improvement over the original air box.

German manufacturer Volkswagen is one of the most popular brands in the UK and this is for good reason. They have a long history of creating reliable, comfortable, practical and affordable automobiles with a car for every type of motorist.

The Iconic Golf
The VW Golf is a good example of this and consistently one of the best selling cars in the UK. The hatchback was first unveiled back in 1974 and is now in its 7th genera-tion, but it has never gone out of style and won many awards throughout its history. So, what is so special about the Golf?

The Golf is a hatchback which is popular with every type of motorist, including young drivers, families and professionals. This is because it is an excellent all-rounder which is great value for money. Despite its compact size (which makes it ideal for city use), the Golf is surprisingly spacious inside so there is plenty of room for other passengers and storage.

Spec
The Golf also has impressive specs, and this is often the first thing that a motorist will look at when shopping for a new car. The 2013 onwards hatchback (seventh genera-tion) has the following specification:

•	Power – 103 – 305 bhp
•	Fuel Economy – 37 – 83 mpg
•	0-60 – 4.5 – 11.5 seconds
•	Insurance Group – 7 – 39
•	Road Tax – £0 – £240

Engines
As you can see, performance comes down to the type of engine that you choose and there is a huge range of efficient and powerful engines to choose from with the Golf. This means that there is one to suit every need and it is the only mainstream vehicle that has a choice of petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and full-EV. The advanced engine tech means that every engine is efficient and helps to keep running costs down, so this makes it appealing to both eco-conscious drivers and those on a tight budget.

Popular Second Hand
The popularity of the Golf means that there is never a shortage of them for sale sec-ond-hand. As they are so reliable, even the older ones are still a smart investment and very affordable. However, it is important to keep in mind that the number of Golfâ€s around means that many have changed ownerâ€s multiple times and they are also a popular vehicle to modify. Therefore, it is vital that a vehicle check through HPI is carried out to ensure that there is no hidden past or major issues with the car.

As such a reliable, versatile and cost-effective automobile, it is no surprise the Golf remains such a popular car with so many types of motorist.
