The Thirteenth Annual Wake Forest University Graduate Student & Postdoc Research Day was held on Thursday, March 21, 2013, in Bridger Field House at BB&T Field. All of our presenters, whether from the sciences or humanities, were simply first rate.

2011 Wake Forest University Postdoctoral Mentor of the Year

Dr. Sarah Raynor was awarded the 2011 WFU Postdoctoral Mentor of the Year Award for her outstanding contributions as a mentor to our postdoctoral scholars. She has created such a rich environment for research and training here at Wake Forest University. Her dedication, high standard of mentoring, and enthusiasm has set an important example for our faculty and postdoctoral scholars. Please join the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Postdoctoral Association in congratulating Dr. Raynor for her continued contributions to our postdoctoral scholars!

2011 Wake Forest University Postdoctoral Fellow of the Year

Dr. Ravi Singh was awarded the 2011 WFU Postdoctoral Fellow of the Year Award for his outstanding contributions as a postdoctoral scholar. His excellence in scholarship and high quality of work here at Wake Forest University has been exceptional. Please join the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Postdoctoral Association in congratulating Dr. Singh for his continued contributions!

Media Training 101 Workshop

Learn how to be successful when the media call on you for an interview. This one-hour session will cover why it’s important to do media interviews, what types of stories the media want to cover, and how to prepare for a media interview.

Speaker Paula Faria is Assistant Vice President of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s Media Relations office. She spent more than 25 years as a former broadcast journalist before moving to a career in AMC media relations and can speak to both sides of the conversation.

This Professional Development Seminar will be taking place on May 14^th in the Hanes 1064 conference room from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Please mark your calendar for this upcoming event!

2012 Award Winners

The Twelth Annual Wake Forest University Graduate Student & Postdoc Research Day was held on Thursday, March 29, 2012, in Bridger Field House at BB&T Field. The event was hosted by the WFU Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and was jointly sponsored by Targacept and the WFU Office of Technology Asset Management. More than 150 posters were presented this year in research fields ranging from the Humanities to Translational Science.

Call for Applications: The Postdoctoral Development Award Program is designed to provide support (up to $500) for current postdoctoral fellows to take advantage of career development opportunities. Such opportunities may include attending or presenting at professional or academic meetings, or other opportunities that enhance current training. The opportunities identified should provide access to new research or other forms of career enhancement activities that would not otherwise be available. This announcement is for applications for the period of February 15, 2011 to June 30th, 2011. Applications are due February 4th, 2011.
