Muesli: It's not the tastiest of breakfasts or something you really look forward to in the morning, but it's good for you. That's why W+K NYC's Stuart Smith named his weekly newsletter of the latest and greatest examples of media-related innovation the Monday Media Muesli. What started out as a weekly email he sent to a handful of folks turned into a full distribution list, Twitter account, Tumblr, channel and now a hand curated YouTube video spread.
That's right, friends. Today, YouTube is featuring the Media Muesli in the spotlight section of their homepage with a list of the coolest YouTube videos hand-picked by our very own Stuart Smith. Big congrats go out Stuart!

Last night we had the pleasure of hosting RE/ACTIVATE. The project is a collaborative sculptural installation between Damien Gilley and Jordan Tull combining improvisational choreography by Rachel Tess, abstract sound composition by Thomas Thorson, costume design by Rachelle Waldie. Some of you may have seen the innards of our home office in the latest episode of Portlandia. Or maybe you caught a glimpse of our digs in the film Art & Copy. But what you haven't seen, my friends, what you have never tickled your retinas with and what will blow your brain into bits and possibly rearrange your face after seeing – is the W+K office in 3D!!! Unless of course you've actually physically been here. Then, yes you've seen the office in 3D. But what you haven't seen, for sure, what you definitely haven't ever ever seen – is the office in 3D, portrayed in 2D format. Take that, science.

Last week, our friends at Swanson Studio visited our office and showed us their 20/2 work— 20 test shoots in just 2 months. Our atrium turned into an exhibit of their photography for the day and we had the pleasure of interacting with members of their studio and checking out their work. Meet Seth and Kelsey Coffrin's Paley
Paley (referred to fondly as "Dirty Rascal" by her owners) is a 12 week old pure Siberian Husky from Albany. She has adapted to agency life well—sleeping most of the day in her kennel and getting love from everyone in the office. At home, she enjoys chewing on table legs, biting her owners and digging holes in the backyard (hence the nickname).
Meet Christina Perry's Uki
Uki is a lap dog that also likes to be held like a baby. She enjoys snacking on dried pear and loves parading around with her toys. She also loves playing with other dogs in the office—especially Paley!
25... it's not a bad number, really. In fact, we kind of like it. Think about it: When you were 25 you realized that you were half way to 50 and probably decided to do something crazy like go sky diving to remind yourself that you were still young and spritely, damn it. Right? 25: the universal number of a quarter life crisis. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? After today, we think so.
Today, Fast Company announced their 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2011 and W+K was named #25. Maybe we should go sky diving? We are really honored and thankful to Fast Company and the folks here that have dedicated so much of their time and brain power to help us earn this. As a person of color when you get on a airplane headed to Portland you get a clear idea of what the population is like in the destination city. And as a person of color, if you’re on that plane with a one-way ticket culture shock just may start to sit in mid-flight. Well, last night at Wieden+Kennedy if you were one of those melanin enhanced persons who started to wonder if there were more than ten people in the city who looked like you, you were relieved of that perturbed feeling at "Say Hey".
"Say Hey" is a quarterly event organized by Partners in Diversity, whose goal is to welcome new professionals in the Portland area and help them feel more connected to the community. The event went a little something like this: Put on a name tag, eat, drink, smile, get to know a lot of people you never knew exist, watched people get introduced who’ve only been in the city less than 18 months (one person being announced has only been in Portland for a week), exchange some business cards or a personal phone number (there were some good looking, unmarried folks there), at the close of the event decide where to go have drinks with your new found friends or head home with a pocket full of business cards, sore cheeks from smiling so much and a renewed sense of community.
This week's fluff is dedicated to two dogs that rarely leave each other's side: Bentley & Shelby.
Meet Kecia McLaughlin's Bentley and Shelby
Bentley and Shelby are Kecia's self proclaimed "furry children." Bentley is a shepherd mix and Shelby is a lab mix and they are both 4 years old. They are rescues from Must Love Dogs NW, an organization Kecia volunteers at. Bentley and Shelby enjoy going for car rides, hiking, watching animal planet, taking long naps and attending Dogpatch resort for doggie play day. They are the best of friends and they like spending all of their time together. Everyone: 1, 2, 3... aw!
