Kevin Howard is a United States Marine who has been stationed (deployed) in Djibouti, Africa since September 2011. Being that he could not be home in time to participate in the Toughmudder, his family and friends are hosting an event/welcome home gathering when he returns in June. We are raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project, which is a charity Kevin holds dear; it is the same charity which the Toughmudder donates it's proceeds. All funds raised through our event will be donated in Kevin's name to the Wounded Warrior Project. Please join us for a benefit picnic for Keith Matteson, Dispatcher for Central Bucks School District. He recently went to the hospital for a routine cardiac ablation. While in the hospital, complications resulted in nerve damage to his leg; Keith went on a ventilator, lost of the use of his leg, ended up in ICU, and later went into rehab. Since going through rehab, he developed further complications requiring surgery and another lengthy hospital stay. He continues to fight for improvement every day, yet is still in the hospital. This picnic will help offset medical bills and assist his wife and two small children during this difficult time.

The picnic will include volleyball, karate, baseball and/or softball, vendors, door prizes, food, drinks (soft drinks and beer), 50-50 raffle, Doylestown Adventure Bootcamp for Kids, Caricatures By Bob Miele, Music By HEAVEN BOUND. Lots of fun for all ages!

D’s Dawgs was created in memory of Danielle E. Bledy to support the beliefs and activities she was passionate about. Danielle believed in being true to herself, her family, and friends. She loved animals, especially dogs, and hoped to become a veterinarian. That is why we support the no-kill animal shelter, Animal Orphanage in Voorhees, and why we will be offering scholarships to students pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.

We are holding the run to raise money to fund the causes that D's Dawgs support, as well as to fund research into Brain Aneurysms. An aneurysm caused Danielle’s untimely death, and we hope to find ways to detect aneurysms early to provide more positive outcomes for children and to spare families the grief and heartache we have experienced. We are contributing to the Brain Aneurysm Research Foundation. We will contribute to a researcher who will be testing for brain anomalies in uterus.

In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, employees at Elsevier—a health sciences publisher located in Four Penn Center, will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Thursday, June 7^th from 11 am to 2 pm. Elsevier has been one of the TOP 100 Stands in the entire U.S. for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for the past 3 years.

Elsevier employees were inspired to get involved with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation because Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s father, Jay Scott, was a former sales representative of Elsevier. For 10 years, Elsevier has held a large lemonade stand and each year raises close to $10,000 in just a few hours.

This year’s event will include carnival games with fantastic prizes like restaurant gift certificates, Phillies tickets, tee shirts, and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation items. As always, there will be music, lemonade, food, and Elsevier staff dressed as life-sized lemons!

In April 2012, Barry was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a malignant round-cell tumor. Due to the rarity of this disease, Barry is receiving his treatments at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in NYC. Over the next year, he will be away from his family for extended periods of time. Following the conclusion of the ceremonies the squad will be holding an open house with activities that include: car cutting exhibition, ambulance displays, building tours, and more. Light refreshments will be provided.

The American Cancer Society is hosting a very special event at the Relay For Life of North Penn on June 23rd from 11am-4pm at North Penn High School. The Cancer Prevention Study 3 (CPS-3) is a national cancer research study and we need your help. We are looking for individuals between the ages of 30-65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer to participate in this longitudinal study. It is a commitment of 20-30 years, in which the ACS will send you a brief survey every 2 or 3 years to complete. It takes about 40 minutes to enroll in the study by completing a survey, waist measurement, and a small blood draw.

This study will be looking at life style and environmental factors and seeing what is it that is causing higher cancer rates across the country. This is the fourth year of the five year study and the only time that is will be available in the North Penn area. If you were told that you can be a part of the cure, why wouldn't you?

Conquer Chiari Walk Across America 5K 2012

Chiari Malformation is a serious neurological disorder affecting 300,000 people in the US. The Conquer Chiari Walk Across America is a series of local awareness and fundraising walks held across the country on the same day. Join us on this special day and help the thousands of families struggling with this terrible disease. All proceeds will be used to fund Chiari research.

Participation is free. T-Shirts will be provided for pre-registered walkers with a minimum donation of $25. Pre-Registration deadline is August, 12th. Bike to create a world free of MS on Spetember 29 & 30th! Ride with 7,000 cyclists of all ages and cycling abilities for the challenge of your choice with several route options. Enjoy flat terrain as you travel through the quaint towns and back roads of Southern New Jersey. Pedal through the blueberry fields of Hammonton, experience the serene beauty of the Pine Barrens and listen to the waves as you roll into historic Ocean City.

This ride is fully supported with catered rest stops, bike support and SAG transportation. Invite your family and friends to cheer as you cross the finish line and enjoy a wonderful evening stroll on the boardwalk.

This is not just a ride, but an experience. The sense of accomplishment that you'll feel as you cross the finish line can only be matched by the difference you'll be making in the lives of people affected by MS.
