Welcome to WOT Forum

Joomla is a nice CMS to build a site upon and the add-ons/plugins you have are both known and respected; ie. jceutilities. Joomla, when installed, has a generic Privacy Policy which you might want to reinstate, or build a new one and offer the link within the footer of each page. Even when simply asking for name / email address for login/registration purposes, sites *should* inform the user as to how their PII is treated and kept secure.

whoIs data verifies site content/ownership.

wssc.us is not blacklisted, though the mail server IP's (shared) are and are associated with other domains - can't hold that against wssc.us.

Red versus Green by g7w

WOT uses color to differentiate the safety "value" - reputation - of a website.
Green sites; light green and dark green, are considered safe generally speaking. This is computed by how a site is rated (voted upon for the various categories)

What you see are comments, which are not ratings and do not have any affect on the reputation, they are merely reference. It's safe to assume that if I rate a site low (red) and I posted a comment, my comment will give you an idea of how I rated it. Or I could try to "fool" you and rate low while posting a green comment of praise.

Let's say 3 or 4 WOT users rate a site low and leave warning comments, and that 200 other WOT users rate the same site high and leave positive comments. With WOT the majority rules so the site is basically safe even with disagreement.

You can go to WOT Settings and up the warning values from red to orange but this would not have any effect with sites that are at least light green.

Alway use caution when entering any unknown website, even while using Web of Trust. We do what we can to warn each other but as with any antivirus program, do not place your online trust with 1 or 2 tools.

The hosting company has been in touch with the site admin, and confirmed that the site had to be temporarily taken down due to an ongoing dDos attack that started at approx 8am yesterday.

i've noticed on quite a few sites i've encountered great green ratings (so no warning) but a decent amount of comments on spam, malicious content, viruses, spyware etc.
(an example would be http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/softpedia.com, or even http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/yahoo.com )

is there a way (or would it be possible) to enable a notice/warning on the wot rating window for things like this?
has this already been suggested?

Seen those a lot on Youtube by Nukemall

I have noticed those kind of comments on several videos on YouTube; I simply thumb down the comments and mark them as spam. They are what I would call "pornbots" because they spam comment boards with a very brief description of an inappropriate activity or inappropriate references to certain parts of the human anatomy, followed by the site address to a porn site (often rated red for all four main categories (i.e. trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy & child safety). I noticed that
they tend to be more prevalent on the comment boards of videos featuring young women or fashion models.

So remember people, give those comments thumbs down and/or mark them as spam, and help rid YouTube of porn ads and other spam that make their way onto varioous comment boards!

I was not recommending SUERAntispyware as a replacement for an AV. I also have Avira free along side asquared. I used it as a full Real Time Malware shield . To be well protected, I always suggest using Avira or Avast for AV , MBAM or SA for Real Time of malware or an antispyware and PC Tools Firewall Plus or Online Armor for the Firewall.
I have done so here on many occasions.

My config. consists of :
Avira Free
SUPERAntispyware , in Real Time
PC Tools Firewall Plus
SpywareBlaster with auto update
WinPatrol (Paid For, license)
and
AnVir Task manager (Full License)

On demand :

MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
DR.WebCureIt.

There is No conflicts with any of these programs they all work well and don't take allot of resources.

I'm sorry but , asquared will not be one of the security programs I will be recommending from now on. Like I said , I had it on evaluation for 8 months and in that time it reported five FP. Following a update these were rectified. It also takes up about 110 MB of ram when in Real Time.

As for the Suites , I really don't like them either But, yes Eset Nod32 would be one that I would endorse if I had to. The Avira Premium would be my second choice.

Neither MBAM NOR SAS, are replacements for an antivirus such as a-squared, they are an ADDITION to it. MBAM and SAS are NOT "full" antivirus programs, their main focus is on malware that most AV's are missing.

I actually recommend using;

1. a-Squared
2. MBAM
3. ClamWin (open source, but no realtime protection - great for scheduled and on-demand scans though)

Although I don't generally recommend "suites", if you are going to get one, I strongly recommend going with either Kaspersky or NOD32, but again, recommend having an antimalware such as MBAM, and ClamWin, alongside them.

Steven is right . I am in the process of evaluating asquared (full license) and I did have that same FP. I did report and they answered and updated their definitions. I don't know why you should be getting the same FP I reported a while ago. I think I still have the reply from Ikarus (asquared) . I'll post if I can find it.

My time with asquared is almost up. I can tell you right now that , as of This week-end , it is OFF my PC. It takes too much (way too much) resources for the security that it provides. I am not pleased at all with the end results.

In it's place I bought a subscription to SUPERAntispyware (lifetime) about eight months ago . But I wanted to give asquared another chance to prove themselves now that Ikarus has joined the fold. But, my findings remain the same . So, they got their chance to prove themselves for the last 8 months. Their time is up.

Sorry, I just can't find it. I must have deleted the e-mail reply.

, there have been emails and blog posts about the new streamline funnel system. But what exactly is it? And is it a scam or the real deal?

At its core, the streamline funnel system is another online business opportunity building system built and designed by Paul Birdsall, who actually has built many successful MLM internet systems in the past, namely Pay-It-Forward 4 Profits, and Streamline Magic.

According to the promotional emails, the system promises to use "Web 3.0 technology" in order to extract thousands of leads from the internet.

The streamline funnel system promises to include a package of "lethal 'yet ethical' lead generation software
which automatically extracts leads & traffic from targeted sites we don't own and then... systematically does the selling for you!" This is straight from the main website for the system.

In fact, it promises to give you 10,000 opt-in leads when you sign-up for the system for under $10. The validity and responsiveness of these leads remains to be seen. I for one will be closely watching to see how it works.

However, no, its not another scam, nor a fraud, but appears to be a legitimate business building system from a well established and successful internet network
marketer. Will the streamline funnel system be as successful as previous systems devised by Paul Birdsall? This still remains to be seen.

But, the key to any of these systems is how you market it, not all the bells and whistles associated with it. What you are personally going to do with the system is the question.

How will you get targeted internet traffic to it, through pay-per-click marketing, article marketing, videos or search engine optimization.

The key to your business wont be the streamline funnel system itself, but your own marketing and what you do with it.

Hello everyone!

I want to have your opinion about this software called The Streamline Funnel System which is in prelaunch now, a friend sent me the link and i already became a free member ( I took the promotion, free until July 7th). It is based on earning residual income online. The idea is that when you become a member you get 10,000 leads that marketers will use, so you will act "redirecting traffic" to target potential customers and you will get a percent of the sales. Also, marketers may be interested in buying LEAD PACKAGES , they come in three different sizes , with 10000 leads, 20,000 and 40,000.
Whenever someone buys one of these packages using your link you will receive a monthly income that ranges from $50.00 to $185.00. That sounds really good to me because i am in need a supplemental income.

Lots of spam mails were sent from infected PCs. With Wireshark I was able to see the content of the mails on one of the infected PCs.

Links and images were linking to hjataheg.cn.
The only difference between the mails were:

I wonder if anyone else has had a problem with The Shield Deluxe 2009? I downloaded it in June 2009, and three times I have gotten pop ups saying my database was outdated and I needed to update. Okay, so far. However, when I try to download the updates, I always get a message saying that my update database is corrupted. I then get a message saying that if my update database is corrupted (how do they know?) I can do a rollback to a previous update, which I did the first two times this happened. This time, when I clicked on the button to do a rollback, I got a pop up message saying that the rollback could not be done. No reason; just couldn't be done. So, now I am without any security software. I am pissed, because CNET gave this software its highest rating - and that is the reason I chose it over other more well-known brands. I also notice that the home website for The Shield Deluxe 2009 has been given a red circle by WOT. Very alarming. When I googled for some information about The Shield Deluxe 2009, I came across a couple of forums where people describe it as "rouge" software. Another website said that the company is affiliated with a scam where people are being contacted and told that their computer database is corrupted and they need to download software to clean it. The representatives spoke with heavy Indian accents. I bought The Shield Deluxe 2009 from TigerDirect, and I have sent them an email about it. I am also going to complain to CNET. BTW, this is not the first bum steer I have gotten from CNET. Don't trust their reviews!!

Handy item for those sites you may have included in a Spam or Malicious content mass rating and wish to remove both your comment, and your rating.

This keeps ratings more fair and accurate.
Before, when removing a comment you would have to leave a poor rating = unfair to a reputable website, or increase your rating = unfair to you since you really haven't had a chance to evaluate the site.

MS Security Essentials – Beta by cotojo

I have been running this new app from Microsoft. Installed on XP with no updates or security apps etc and ran with no problems. Also installed ona second machine with Avast, MBAM, Superantispyware, Spyware Doctor, SpywareBlaster and a range of browsers.

No apparent or obvious impact with other apps or browsers and I did visit a bundle of live malware sites as well as downloading samples on both machines. It found most, ranging from Trojans to fake AV’s, Backdoor and Dialers.

It picked up one of two Binary files I downloaded and deleted it, but the one it left behind was Trojan Zbot.bts which is a keylogger and info stealer!

Avast picked up the Zbot and two rogue AV's that I downloaded whereas MSSE did not pick them up, although some it did pick up and blocked them.

Does not currently uninstall Windows Defender but in future beta builds and full version it will do. It uses the same engine as OneCare and MS Forefront Client Security.

Anyone know of any genuine malware / scareware / rogue complaint/associations for Cyberdefender? If so, we should rate these two sit4es red as well, maybe check into them a little more for other mirrors, subdomains, MX (spam check), etc.

I contacted a website called artnewsblog.com about advertising SavvyCollector.com. I checked their website on Compete, and found that it got around 15,000 unique visits a month. The webmaster sent me a picture of Google Analytics showing several thousand visits a day. I had also noticed that SavvyCollector.com on Google analytics had 500 unique visitors more than what Compete.com listed.

The thing about the image sent, however, is that the website title is cut off, and only the numbers are shown.

Is Compete.com way off, or am I being lied to?

Will this be more popular than Vista?
If so, how will it affect the way we view the web?

Internet Explorer 6 is still more popular than 7 or 8. People who use Internet Explorer will be using Internet Explorer 8 when using Windows 7.
People who use Windows Media player will be using Windows media player 11

The site owner (who I met yesterday) has asked me to review her site. It is a nice site
that sells items like tealight holders & incense holders all handcrafted by her. I actually bought one.
The site has not received any ratings apart from mine, so could someone else please
have a look and maybe rate it too.
Site appears to be clean and is clearly laid out with legitimate contact details.

Hey WOT! I am sorry for deserting you for such a long time - I had switched to Chrome a month ago, unfortunately dumping my add-ons. There's not much speak, though a bit here and there about Chrome soon getting add-ons (or not so soon).

I can still use the WOT ratings and comments AFAIK but without the WOT add-on I can't be heavily involved in this community. Without the WOT add-on I will be missing the quick notification and ratings of the sites that I visit.

Please tell me that Chrome add-ons are coming soon!

If they are then I'll be all ...... \o/

I can't remember if I made a comment on one of this guy's blogs or if he came to my blog and decided to start his annoying spamming of my email address from my contact link (more likely), but I have been getting a ton of spam email associated with his name (Emil Cohen) or one of his domain names (emilcohen.com) ever since.

He has also been stalking me on various social sites such as twitter, facebook, and friendfeed.

Recently I caught him stealing content from another website and publishing it as his own. I let the blogger and anyone following me on friendfeed know what he was up to.

I have gone ahead and painted them all red and will leave a comment linking here on each of them to explain why.

And if you really want to see how spammy this guy is, after you check out all those links, check his gazillion twitter accounts and other social networking profiles listed on his google profile. He lists himself as a female on Digg, but has his standard ugly profile pic he uses on every site that clearly shows he's a dude.

Incidently, do yourself a big favor, and never use Google or any other search engine to find a locksmith, mover, plumber, or carpet cleaning company. They are 4 categories where you will find that 70% or more of the listings are all SERP spam, listing the same phone numbers and addresses and a lot of those are non-existant addresses.

About 6 months ago I had the displeasure of trying to find some place local within walking distance of my house to have keys copied, because my favorite local hardware store burned down. It was a horrible frustrating experience that took me around 4 days.
