Its not quite done yet, as I am still working on stuff, and tweaking the theme to make it more “me”.

Another thing you’ll notice is the utter lack of images! The new gallery theme I am using runs the images differently then Snapshot did so I will have to re-add everything. (Most of the sites have changed since they were reviewed but I will keep the old images since that is what my review looked at)

Anyways, that’s all that I really have to say right now. I will start posting reviews again as soon as I get everything with the theme, and other aspects of the site taken care of.

I didn’t realize that I could change my cpanel password through WHM (I’m on a reseller account.) So, I finally have access so I will be perusing some WordPress blogs and giving them reviews.

Also, when I logged into Feedburner  I noticed that I have a slew of new subscribers. Thanks for subscribing and please be sure to comment on reviews with your two cents!

In other WPG news, I am thinking of either switching to a new gallery theme or customizing this theme in a different way.

WP Zoom is a website owned by Pavel Ciorici, who happens to be only a year older then me!

The website had a redesign recently, which I am happy about. The other design was nice, but I personally found the comments hard to read (on the old design).

Now on to what I like and what I don’t like…

What I like:

• The navigation-It is laid out nicely. and evenly apart. The categories look great as a sub-navbar.
• The option to subscribe to RSS/Email is prominent in the header.
• The overall design looks good but then again one of my favorite colors is blue so I may be a bit biased in this opinion.
• Overall, the design has a nice soft feel to it.
• The thumbnails on posts on the main page look fantastic!
• The content is great as well- many of the posts are done in a list format which makes it easier to read.
• The logo- it is sweet and simple!

What I Don’t Like:

• The light gray on gray content background makes the text a bit challenging to read. It is readable, but I think it may be better if the font was a wee bit darker.
• The giant RSS icon-I know this wouldn’t bother most people but that huge icon kept distracting me from reading the actual content.
• Feed Count in footer-who’s going to look down there?

As you can see I liked more then what I didn’t like.  This blog is home to a lot of excellent content and consists of one of the best web roundups I have ever seen. Zoom over to www.wpzoom.com and subscribe to their RSS feed.

WP Recipes is another blog that is owned and maintained by Jean-Baptiste Jung.

This blog is dedicated to providing little tidbits of Wordpress hacks and tips. I have been a fan and reader of this blog since its conception and I have seen it grow into a very popular blog.

It’s design is simple and it’s content is simple but let’s get onto “What I Like” and “What I Don’t Like.”

What I Like:

• The cute little cat in the header.
• The buttons in the header for Twitter, Technorati, Stumbleupon and others.
• Navigation to Pages is nice and neat.
• Sidebar is clear of clutter
• The content is useful
• The content is short but sweet.

What I Don’t Like:

• The lack of categories in the sidebar or in the menu. Now, the site may not need categories since it is al about Word Press but what if I just want to read the posts that pertain to the loop, or to the footer, etc.?
• No E-mail form but at least email subscriptions are enabled.

Except for those two minor things, another great website that is another combo. Great content and great design.

My first real website addition is catswhocode.com which is owned and maintained by Jean-Baptiste Jung. It also happens to be the first among the “Combo” area, which is to say that the blog has both a great design AND great content.

Cats Who Code recently got a design overhaul which looks stunning.

What I Like:

• The Cats- they are just so cute! You can see his own cat on his about page, and a cartoon one in the header.
• The category labelling on the post thumbnails on the home page. I have rarely seen blogs doing this. It makes the posts seem more organized and I can tell right away if it is from a category that interests me.
• The ease of navigation-it is very easy to navigate through the categories and pages of the blog. Both are kept separate so it does not confuse the reader.
• The content is always laid out nicely.
• The content does not get boring and is always useful.

What I didn’t like:

• No e-mail form- I prefer to subscribe by email and I also prefer to have the form on the same page so I don’t have to keep clickin through pages just to sign up to the website feed.
• Email subscription not even enabled.

Other then that CatsWhoCode.com is a great website to read and subscribe to, especially if you are into Wordpress, Web Design and Blogging.

I judge sites as the “best” according to their content, OR their design. Most notably, I will prefer to list websites that have BOTH!

I am still contemplating whether to do video reviews of the websites or now. I am not the type to review and critique other peoples websites when my own look so rundown.

But I will try my best!
