Habersham Electric celebrates 75 years of service with a new book and CD travel guide called Experience Northeast Georgia—John Kollock’s guide to 75 Special Places. To discuss HEMC’s anniversary is HEMC President/CEO Todd Pealock and best-selling author Emory Jones.

With faith as the driving force of his writing, author John Shivers discusses his first trilogy Hear My Cry, Paths of Judgment, Lift Up Mine Eyes and his second, Broken Spirit, Merry Heart, His Mercy Endureth.
A Georgia landmark for over 100 years, Clarkesville’s Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church celebrates its 175th year with activities throughout the year. Joining me in the studio to discuss the history and upcoming events is Grace-Calvary's rector Dena Beryl and retired Chairman of Piedmont College’s Art and Sciences Dr. David Green.

From heavy and serious art-music to folk-styled, pop, rock, and jazz numbers the North Georgia Chamber Symphony has something for everyone with standard well-known works to adventurous modern works which are challenging to both player and audience alike. Conductor Laurin Smith expounds on the local Dahlonega community chamber symphony and it’s Laurel Ridge Music Camp with co-director Rebecca Gerstenlauer.

Many throughout the centuries have witnessed and bore the sorrow and sufferings of war, but few have counted the environmental cost of war and how it affects the lives of those left to live in a war torn region for decades and sometimes centuries before seeing any plant, animal life or drinking water restored to the area.
To commemorate Earth Day, Brenau Professor Dr. Gnimbin Ouattara offers insight into environmental cost of war as he shares the special story and legacy of 2004 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Wangari Maathai.
Manga African Dance Company is building community connections through dance by offering a three pronged approach through entertainment, healing modality and education. Through this platform the meaning of the different West African dances all incorporated. Owner and choreographer Ramatu Afegbua-Sabbatt discusses the history and health benefits of each dance.
As one of the leading private liberal colleges in the Southeast, Piedmont College alumni have garnered great recognition and awards in their fields of study. Today, we speak to Macie Rooke one of the graduating 2013 art seniors. She discusses the importance of the Capstone process.

With a mixture of tongue and cheek humor Stephens County author Joe Cobb Crawford recounts his experience as a chicken catcher in his book The Poetry Company. His next book When the Chickens Come Home to Roost unfolds the details of a local murder mystery and the decided attempt of a northern socialite’s desire to fit in with the locals. And in his current work Mountain Shadow Memories family folklore takes over as he describes the life and times of his ancestors and the sometimes comical ways they dealt with life and death situations. Today, he shares the inspiration behind his colorful writing and what life was like for the poor working class of Georgia.
In 2012, The Schaefer Center received city approved funds to renovate the lobby, auditorium, dressing rooms, and lighting system. With the help of a grant from the USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant program. The overall changes have made a dramatic and stunning impact. The Fox Theater Institute has awarded the City of Toccoa with a grant to help fund a preservation plan, economic market study, and design plans for the Center. Main Street Director Kembra Landry takes us on a tour and discusses the many improvements to this historical theater.Scarlett’s Secret Tea Room owner Betsy King discusses how her childhood memorabilia collection opened the doors to establishing her famous Gone with the Wind theme tea room.Recently adding to its numerous awards Hillside Orchard Farms gained the recognition as one of the flavor of Georgia finalist for its sugar-free blueberry cider. On a recent visit to the plant, co-owner Patsy Mitcham discussed the selection process and the secret behind their on-going family success in the industry.
