Adding Audio to K-State Online with Wimba Voice Tools

Would you like to be able to add a .mp3 file for you students in K-State Online without the need of special software and editing? Now you can using Wimba Voice Tools right inside of our course. All you need is a microphone and something to say. In your course just go into your "Manage Files" and select "New Item." In the new item window select "Voice Recording." You will need to give your audio file a name and please remember that you can only speak up to 20 minutes in length. Once you have your settings done you just need to click "Create." This will launch a new window that has the recorder embedded into the page. Please follow the instructions on the page and you will be set to go. Just close the window and publish the file and your students now have access to a .mp3 file that they can listen to on their computer or portable devices.

Wimba Live Classroom Course Install

This video shows you the steps you need to take to add the component Wimba Live Classroom to your courses in K-State Online.

Steps:
1. Select the course
2. Once on the "Tools" page of the course select "Components"
3. Select the check box next to "Wimba Live Classroom" and then select "Done" at the bottom of the page

You have now successfully added the Wimba Live Classroom component to your course in K-State Online.

We recommend using the "Full Screen" option on the video for best results.

New Tegrity Login

Recently we upgraded our servers here at K-State to the newest version of the Tegrity software. This new version of the software fixed some support concerns that we had and also created a new way for faculty to login to the Tegrity software. Instead of using the "Tegrity/K-State Online" login you will now use the CMS login that you see right before you do a recording. You will use your eID for the username and I would suggest unchecking the box next to "Associate with Windows User" as this will automatically keep that username in the login info for that computer. Tegrity conference interview

I had the opportunity to attend the first annual Tegrity user conference in San Francisco.
While there I was able to meet up with Matthew Heminger who is the Manger of Client Services for Tegrity. Matthew creates online training modules, and training certification programs for Tegrity's customers. He also oversee new hire and product training as well as "Train the Trainer" programs. He was nice enough to answer some questions about the new version of the Tegrity software, Tegrity2.0. Hope you enjoy the interview.

I want to be the first to welcome you to the WPS podcast episode #1.

So, what are we going to be talking about on this blog? Well, we are going to be talking about a lot of different topics. We will be sharing tips and tricks for various software including Tegrity, Wimba Live Classroom, Wimba Voice Tools, Accordent and of course sharing techniques and experiences about podcasting.

We will also be talking with various people about the different skills and needs that they have when it comes to web presentations and look at various tools and new technologies that are coming out that might help you in your content creation.
