<p>Other than YUI (which I barely even talked about), I touched a bit on Sam&#8217;s <a href="http://prototype.conio.net/" title="The most popular of them all">Prototype</a>, John&#8217;s <a href="http://www.jquery.com" title="The shortest of them all">jQuery</a>, and Justin&#8217;s <a href="http://encytemedia.com/event-selectors/" title="The Most readable of all">Event Selectors</a>. Others I mentioned but didn&#8217;t go into detail (mainly because I don&#8217;t know them as well) was <a href="http://mochikit.com/" title="The most well documented (after YUI)">MochiKit</a> and Alex&#8217;s <a href="http://dojotoolkit.org/" title="The biggest of them all">Dojo Toolkit</a>.</p>

<h3>In the News</h3>
<p>Eric Meyer is <a href="http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2006/05/08/flummoxed-by-frameworks/" title="Something to do with oxen, or sheep? And batches of them?">Flummoxed by Frameworks</a> and we discussed the topic a bit further. Also Kevin Hale shared some of his thoughts on <a href="http://particletree.com/features/ajax-wireframing-approaches/" title="As Zeldman says, Wireframing Ajax can be a bitch">how to wireframe Ajax</a> which ultimately lead us to discussing how cool <a href="http://looksgoodworkswell.blogspot.com/" title="Yahoo!'s Ajax Evangelist">Bill Scott</a> is being both a <abbr title="User Experience Design">U.E.D.</abbr> with a <a href="http://openrico.org/" title="Stuff he had quite a bit to do with">code</a> background. Needless to say, we like Bill.</p>
<h3>Noteables from this episode</h3>
<ul>
<li>An Answers.com reference to what <a href="http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=Flummoxed" title="We honestly didn't know what it meant at the time">Flummoxed</a> really means</li>
<li>We also got into detail as to what a <a href="http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/event/#customevent" title="You get to decide the interesting moments of your application">Custom Event</a> is - hopefully giving Adam Moore the justice he deserves for writing this into the <a href="http://www.dustindiaz.com/yahoo-event-utility/" title="My previous write up on what you can do with these interesting moments the DOM let's us listen for">Event Utility</a>.</li>

<h3>In the News</h3>
<p>Nothing really that special. Basically I&#8217;m going to London for the <a href="http://www.vivabit.com/atmedia2006/" title="Patrick's gig going down in June">@media 2006</a> conference so I hope to see you there. And the other piece of news I discussed is the recent release of the latest <a href="http://developer.yahoo.com/yui" title="Your newest JavaScript buddy that will befriend you for life">YUI JavaScript frameworks</a>, which by the way, now includes a <a href="http://com1.devnet.scd.yahoo.com/yui/grids/" title="Includes reset.css, fonts.css, and grids.css">CSS framework</a> that allows you to create over 100 different page layouts with just one 1.8k css file. Pretty dope eh?</p>
<h3>Noteables from this episode</h3>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://ejohn.org/projects/flexible-javascript-events/" title="Short and simple. That's why he won">John Resig</a> was the winner of the winner of the <a href="http://www.quirksmode.org/blog/archives/2005/10/_and_the_winner_1.html" title="PPK's anouncement of the winner">addEvent recoding contest</a> (since I couldn&#8217;t remember his name while recording)</li>
<li>Lest we forget Dean&#8217;s <a href="http://dean.edwards.name/my/cssQuery/" title="Really really nice. It's just big">cssQuery</a> library</li>
<li><a href="http://simon.incutio.com/" title="Fellow co-worker">Simon Willison</a>&#8230; yea, I think I mentioned him.</li>

<h3>In this Episode</h3>
<p>We go into the typical news stuff such as the <a title="A crazy mashup on stalking celebreties" href="http://www.gawker.com/stalker/">Gawker Stalker mashup</a>. In particular <a title="Heh. Yea right" href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2114311,00.html">George Clooney</a> says he&#8217;s going to do something about&#8230; but I wouldn&#8217;t take that too seriously.</p>
<p>Also in the news we talked about a <a title="Crazy list eh?" href="http://www.econsultant.com/delicious-by-function/index.html">Del.icio.us</a> function list which allows you to see pretty much anything and everything that&#8217;s ever been done with their A.P.I.. And last but not least, everyone should know by now that today is <a title="Whoot! Whoot! Strip your css" href="http://naked.dustindiaz.com">naked day</a> so don&#8217;t be shy to jump right on in with the rest of the world.</p>
<h3>JavaScript Stuff</h3>
<p>Of course this wouldn&#8217;t be right if we didn&#8217;t talk about JavaScript. We did in fact talk a bit about <a title="Ewww. Leaky closures" href="http://www.vivabit.com/bollocks/2006/04/03/leaky-scripts">leaky scripts</a>, <a title="A better way to pop your windows. Or bad. I don't remember" href="http://domscripting.com/blog/display/56">window popping</a>, and of course, the ever popular <a title="An accessibly friendly way to writing JavaScript" href="http://domscripting.com/blog/display/41">Hijax</a> method of developing Rich Internet Applications. A good demo of Hijax in practice would be Jeremy&#8217;s <a title="Where is Jeremy and what is he doing" href="http://elsewhere.adactio.com/">Elsewhere</a> subsite.</p>

<p>Unfortunately Episode 08 was going to be hosted with the three lovely ladies <a title="Mother of Standardistas" href="http://www.molly.com">Molly</a>, <a title="Brilliant Designer" href="http://veerle.duoh.com">Veerle</a>, and <a title="Author of many intelligent books (and personal hero)" href="http://rachelandrew.co.uk">Rachel</a>, however we ran into some technical difficulties in the morning and were unable to get everything working correctly. So in the meantime, I still have all your questions (for those who submitted them), they&#8217;ll just have to be put on hold.</p>
