I am really looking forward to participating in the Eat Pie and Shop fundraiser for P.S.29. It’s on Sunday December 2 from 11-4, and, as thename indicates, there will be pie!

My fellow makers Lu and Angie (aka 2 Fair Ladies) have whipped up the inaugural Beat-the-Crowds Handcrafted Holiday Happening, which should be a blast! It’s on Saturday November 17, 11am-6pm at St. Anthony’s Church, 155 Sullivan Street at West Houston.

I will be selling my handcrafted baubles at By Brooklyn Saturday May 12 from 12-5. I hardly ever sell in person these days, so it’s a rare opportunity to have a piece altered on the spot, or to glimpse my hermit self outside of my comfort zone at home.

If you can’t make it or if you are also a hermit, fear not: you can still shop here and here and here.  But then you won’t get it in time for Mother’s Day, if that’s your aim.

I’ve finished my sabbatical – it ended up being about four months long, and it was just what the doctor ordered! If you’re curious about how I spent some of that time, you can read about it here.  I’m back to creating new work, and I’ve even created a cute new Etsy shop for some of my experiments and closeouts. What do you think?

Since not selling at markets I’ve had time to explore some other interests: I took a class and realized I hate silkscreening, took another and realized it’s not that I don’t know HOW to sew, it’s that my old sewing machine was busted. So I got a new one.

I took a drawing class. I took an improv class, which helped me get over the horrible stage fright I’d developed last year and which I realize may have in part been caused by me trying to do too much: Last year was a roller coaster ride of moving, doing my first trade show, doing the Union Square Holiday market, doing too much work for my Etsy team, on top of weekly markets and a full time job. Not to mention the three months of sleeping on an air mattress while we renovated.  Burnout was definitely setting in.

I just finished taking a sketch writing class and am in the middle of a fiction writing class. I’m having a bit of a me-aissance. And maybe Wabisabi will fit in again when I’ve spent a little more time on this.
