Cloud Nine Rollers..

I am a volume girl when it comes to hair! The bigger the better I always say, so in my bag there is always a comb for a quick backcomb boost before meeting friends.

In my cupboard at home I have L'oreals Volume boost for before blow dry's and Trevor Sorbie's salt spray for extra hold applied mid blow-dry and Baptiste for that 2nd (sometimes 3rd day volume)..

But now I have discovered the fabulous roller set that can make your hair look volumized and beautiful and best of all they are easy to put in and heat up in an instant! The Cloud Nine rollers heat up almost instantly, they do not burn your fingers as they heat once in your hair and they have Velcro exterior which makes it super easy to put in.

On yesterday's photo shoot we used them in Katie Piper's hair and it looked phenomenal! I need these rollers in my life ASAP, so that bad hair days are a thing of the past!

Loving this Green Blazer

Being a Red head I am often drawn to bottle greens but this blazer in Zara feels like such a great investment piece that will work now but take me right through our less than sunny summer..

I could team it with jeans and a T for everyday but also have a suspicion that it would look fab with a little gold sequin dress that I also have my eye on!! I feel a purchase coming on.

The other Zara item that has been itching for a try on is this gorgeous lace dress that I think could work really well for my friends February wedding.

Looks like I might be paying Zara a visit later this week!

2 New Years resolutions out the window, surely things can only get better?!

I woke at midday on January the 1st having had 6 hours sleep after landing in bed at 6.30am after a fab little impromptu house party! Despite all the empty bottles littering my Kitchen and lounge I had very little hangover sensation in my head but on reaching my bathroom for the first refreshing shower of the year I was greeted with a sign saying KEEP OUT.... LOO BLOCKED!

Oh joy for the second time in my house party history the first day of the year was spent dealing with sewage. After attempting for the 5th time to unblock the loo the boyfriend and I gave up and decided to have a 4pm breakfast with our friends who had slept on our sofa's and floors Canteen's Eggs Benedict have never tasted sooooooooooo good. One more UN successful attempt with the toilet before an early night. The 2nd of Jan will be better, the toilet will unblock itself overnight and we will go to the gym as planned in the New Years resolution..

I wake in the middle of the night coughing and sneezing with a head full of cold! Yes the 2nd of January marked the arrival of a Rudolf like nose and a raspy cough fit for a 100 a day 80 year old! It takes a hot shower (in the non condemned bathroom) 2 cups of hot lemon and honey to even get out of the house and even the I sit like bag of germs in the corner of my boyfriends family gathering with a tissue permanently attached to my nose! Early to bed and heavily medicated I hope for a more promising 3rd of Jan....

A groggy start as the Night nurse wears off and I am straight on the phone to the plumber for toilet unblocking assistance... as with any emergency appointment you must stay in for them to pop in as soon as they are free. Determined not to let my cold or a day stuck indoors get the better of me I set to cleaning the oven, doing the laundry to keep me occupied until plumber arrives to restore the order.. He arrives at 5pm with plunging mechanism followed by the boyfriend arriving home early from work as he has spent the entire working day being sick.. So I spend the next hour tending to the ill boyfriend in the basement as well as running up and down stairs checking that the plumber is not covering my clean bathroom with dirty toilet water! After giving the toilet and endoscopy and paying a small fortune we discover nothing sinister is wrong with loo and order is restored. I deposit boyfriend in bed and watch a film whilst munching on a chocolate biscuit (another new years resolution broken)!

This morning I woke up in my ones'y in the spare room using my dressing gown as a duvet (I was politely asked to vacate the bed at around 2 this morning because I was wriggling too much and the boyfriend needed sleep for full recovery).

Please let today be sickness and toilet blockage free, that way I can get started with the TAX return!

Sparkle on Christmas Day

I am a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas I like a real tree, beautiful decorations, candles, mulled wine, Carols and Snow. This year it turns out that Snow is not very likely to arrive for the 25th, but just because the ground won't be sparkling like icing on a Christmas cake does not mean that there wont be sparkle at our Festive gathering.

I always opt for a bit of Sparkle on Christmas day and this year I will be doing it again so here are my top sparkle recommendations for Christmas Day outfits:

Or this T-shirt from Ted Baker is great with a pair of skinny's and some killer heels for a more sassy look.

The Christmas Covet list has begun

Walking round Covent Garden with it's giant Christmas bauble decorations this weekend got me into the Christmas spirit earlier than I was intending.

I also think it was my little visit to the Kate Spade boutique on Henrietta Street. I love visiting Kate Spade shops when I am in New York and the treat of visiting the store in Covent Garden made me feel like I was shopping in the Big Apple!

The thing I love about Kate Spade is the accessories and the nic-nacs so here are my top pic of Christmas covetables..

As you all know I love a good purse and it is my belief that they should be colourful things of beauty and this little gem fits the bill, not to mention the fact it comes in 4 fab colours (it is almost as lovely as my Mulberry):

Next on the covet list are these 2 fab rings, I am obsessed with rings and have hundreds that cater to my daily fashion whim's. The first reminds me of a gorgeous gold ring that I used to own and subsequently I think it would be perfect to add to my collection for an everyday gold ring!

The second ring is this fabulous emerald coloured cocktail ring, not only is the ring a gorgeous colour but I adore the packaging and think it would make a great little gift for my cocktail loving friends. (Miss sugarplumslipper there is sadly no cosmopolitan but they do have a Manhattan).

Another gift that I thought was really lovely were the collection of necklaces with words on them ranging from, Cheers, I do to Mrs. But I really loved this Smile option.

Last but by no means least I adore this multi coloured bib necklace, it would glam up a boring LBD and would look fab under a classic white shirt and as such will be on my list to Santa!

Fantastic Furs

As the weather has turned cold i have been looking at there ever present Faux Fur trend to find that perfect snugly coat option and I have finally found the perfect coat from Miss Selfridge. It was £89 and since trying it a few weeks ago none have quite felt as cosy as this one!

If you want something shorter and a little retro I would highly recommend this Faux fur from Ted Baker, it is £199 and will work really well through the party season!

Or try this Coast one for a more glam look, it is £250 and a classic shape and will stand the test of time. Not to mention looking fab whilst walking down Bond Street under the Christmas lights with a Tiffany's bag in hand!

Ragdale Hall spa break

Over the last few weeks I have been styling women in the perfect party dresses in shopping centres up and down the country, so over the course of this week I am going to share with you the gems that popped up for each body shape.

This Dorothy Perkins dress £36.00 was a great fit on most ladies and was really easy to dress up with a bit of bling for the perfect casual party outfit.

Restaurant review - Tempo Mayfair

I have been working solidly for the last few months and was so excited to be going out for a lovely meal with friends on Saturday night. The voucher we bought online promised exquisite food, buzzy atmosphere and a cocktail menu to make your mouth water! So after a long day on my feet at work I bathed, groomed and forced my already aching feet into a pair of heels, donned my new Alice by Temperley dress, a bargain purchase from Brand Alley and headed out with the boy for a gastronomic delight.

We arrived at Tempo in Mayfair to find our friends already sat at the table sipping glasses of water rather than at the bar which on the website looked so inviting with elegant velvet chesterfields and tantalizing glasses of martinis. Also our friends had been there for a good 10 minutes before we arrived (I am always late) and they had still not received their cocktails! Apparently the Bar that they advertise on the website is private and as a diners spending up-woulds of £300 for the privilege of eating at the restaurant you are not welcome in it!!!!

OK so we are not allowed to drink our cocktails in the bar area, but i am still having one... I order a Rose GT which when it finally arrives is delicious, the menu looks tasty and the voucher that we have purchased allows us a greedy 4 courses and having eaten 1/2 a pack of sushi at lunch I am ready to be really glutenous! My starter of Calamari was disappointing not only because mine and the boyfriends arrived a good 5 minutes after our friends, but also because it tasted bland. After the miss hap with the starters and the original delays in taking our orders, food timing was fixed. The pasta course which followed the starters was delicious, I shared the lobster linguine (when ordering this specific dish it has to be shared) which was delicious but an annoyingly small portion as I could have eaten double. The meat course was really tasty I opted for the lamb chops which came with a tasty parsnip puree and lentils, but donated 1 and 1/2 chops to the boys, who had ordered the veal another dish you have to share and looked more than disappointed with the size of their portions. But I was feeling generous and new that I still had pudding to come and I am a pudding girl.

One look at the menu and we are all agreed the chocolate caprese sounds delicious, but when the waitress comes over to take our order she informs us that this is now off the menu, if I said that at this point I was annoyed that would be an understatement, try steam coming out of my ears with frustration!
The restaurant is a few doors down from a Tesco metro which sells butter, eggs, flour and chocolate, give me the ingredients and i will make myself a bloody fondant. As this option was not viable, I begrudgingly order the panacotta which although tasty was not at all what I wanted so the boyfriend ate mine and his own.

We opt to skip coffee as we just want to get our of the restaurant and find a decent bar to sit and have a cocktail. The bill arrives and my friend Liz who is an accountant is looking at the bill when it is grabbed from her hands and a new one is given which is double what the previous one was. I am glad to say that this is when Liz who knows the service industry better than anyone I know went for the jugular. They had miss calculated our bill twice, the owner who was there chose not to approach us and offer an apology for the dismal service and incorrect bill despite being a witness to:

Tables coming and going in the time we were sat waiting for our orders to be taken
2 starters arriving several minutes after the other 2
Our disappointment at not being informed of what was not available on the dessert menu
The miss calculation of our bills.

Henry Togna the driving force behind Tempo restaurant needs to take a close look at his customer service, attention to detail, price and decor because the only thing that made my evening out enjoyable was the company, and the fact that on leaving Tempo we headed to Polo Bar at the Westbury Hotel. Where we experienced decent service and atmosphere and were given nibbles which we needed after the disappointment of Tempo!

I have been having a real M&S moment of late and this little selection is why!

I bought this cute little black and red dress on Monday. Its £39.50 and is great for winter layering but has also kept me nice and cool in the last few hot days.

I am looking forward to the weather getting cold again so i can pop on some black tights and wedge boots and layer a long sleeved black T underneath.

This Jumper dress is going to be my long winter walks dress, It was £25.00 and will be perfect with some flat riding boots or my Zala's and a snugly faux fur coat .

This dress £39.50 caught my eye in the shop as I thought it would look great over some pleather leggings with my wedge boots.

Kristian Aadnevik

Kristian's show was at the beautiful Athenaeum club on Pall Mall, I arrived for the champagne reception only to find there was no champers left (gutted as it was the tonic I needed at 9.30pm to get me through the next few hours). We were then lead up the grand staircase to the long library with book lined walls and large glittering chandeliers.

The show had religious undertones not only with the choice of sound track, choral chanting that made the garments more spiritual or otherworldly but then mixed with more heavy rock music to create the illusion of the Fallen Angels or mythical creatures with a darker side.

The colour pallet of the collection stayed with whites and nudes with touches of metallic and the black of the printed chiffon's but over all at a light weightless feel. The textures are always the highlight of Aadnevik's shows and this collection did not disappoint, with beautiful printed chiffon juxtaposed to sequin trousers or chiffon dresses with chain mail overlays.

However I found his use of feathers in this collection less than disappointing, he usually has 2 or 3 show stopping feather dresses that are perfect for clients on the Red carpet but the positioning of the feathers on this collection felt like giant sporrans that looked like feather shapes of womb's. I am not sure if any of my clients would want that part of their bodies highlighted!

The Izmaylova express train arrived at the The Freemasons hall on Sunday with its own ticket master, platforms and coaches and like every good train a little delay! Despite the delayed start (lets face it we expect that with all shows during fashion week) the collection lived up to the drama and opulence of the setting of the gold and marble gated interior of the Hall.

The SS12 show Edge of Ice felt like Hollywood glamour for the real woman, mixing silks, chiffon, feathers and crystals to create a collection that embraces the feminine form. Dresses had elements of corsetry panelling that high light the feminine curves we want to show off while Swarovski embellished panels add to the glamour and luxury feel of the collection! The attention to detail continues with just as much gust on the detailing of the slightly more relaxed looks of the collection with a crystal trimmed chiffon blouse and a panel repeat on the tailored shorts.

Yes it is August, Yes we should be walking around in Flip Flops and summer dresses but in true British Summer Style it is raining cats and dogs and actually a little bit chilly!
I am a Leo so I should be one of those who is most peeved by the current weather situation... BUT I am actually rather happy that the weather has turned bad because it means I don't feel so stupid trying on all the gorgeous A/W11 clothes on the high street right now and I get to wear the most gorgeous Boots (that I may have purchased for myself last week thanks to many a kind Birthday donation from family members).

Yes I have bought the pair of boots that will see me through this winter when I am pounding the streets shopping with Clients in the pouring rain. They were £68.00 from Topshop a bargain considering how comfy and stylish they are.

Looking at them now, I am already thinking about buying them in a different colour (that is if I can sneak them past the boyfriend and find space in the over flowing shoe cupboard!)

Birthday Bonanza part 2

Birthdays have been happening left right and centre over the last 2 weeks. It was my friends on Monday the 15th, mine on the 16th, a clients on the 17th, my cousin on the 18th, a second birthday celebration for me on the 19th and then another friends 30th birthday party on the 20th. So I have signed a lot of birthday cards and completely run out of celotape!

FirstlyI have to show you pic's of my two best friends at my belated dinner, they always look gorgeous and stylish that sometimes I think they look like stylists more than me!

Then Saturday was spent making outfits for a fancy dress 30th birthday party! The party girl went as lady GAGA and her outfit was homemade and looked fantastic!!!

I decided it would be fun to paint myself yellow so I went as Marge Simpson with the boyfriend as Homer.... Is it wrong that I loved being Yellow?

Everyone made a massive effort especially the girls, I must say that I loved the Indian head piece.

My best friend went as Amy Winehouse and annoyingly so did 5 others but I have to say that she was my favourite.

Big sis went as Sandy and looked very sexy indeed!

The only thing I will say is yellow paint takes 3 showers and a tub of exfoliator to get off and even then you still look a little jaundice!

Birthday Bonanza

I am sooooooooooooooo sorry for the lack of blogging over the last 2 weeks I would love to say that it has been because I have been so run off my feet, which I have but it is more related to the fact that Tuesday the 16th was my birthday and I have been eking out the celebrations for as long as I could.

On Saturday the 13th the celebrations started with a shopping trip which ended with a purchase in Mulberry followed by high tea at The Soho Hotel with my uni girls and the boyfriend, he was there as official buyer of champagne...

Annoyingly this is the only pic I have of the afternoon of gorging, this is me modelling a very handy gift from my friend Sarah, its a turban towel for your hair!

It was not the best afternoon tea in terms of cake and service but the company was amazing! Then it was back to Essex for work on the Sunday and Monday morning, I have to keep my clients happy! A crazy busy working day on the Tuesday my actual birthday but a blow dry at Cobella made me look less shipwreck and more serene for my birthday dinner at Scott's with the family and the boyf but not before present opening and Vino at my lovely little house!

This is the gorgeous Mulberry purse that the boyf bought me...... I LOVE IT!

A mini photo call in the garden before heading off I love the dress my sister was wearing it is from M&S and looks so Roland Mouret galaxy dress! I am wearing a Whistles dress and some lush Vivienne Westwood shoes (another birthday gift).

Annoyingly we were not allowed to take pics in Scott's but i managed this sneaky pic of my desert, it was the best meal I have ever had and will be returning once I have saved lots of money!

I have recently had 2 friends show me there fabulous new watches from the gorgeous Michael Kors collection and have since found myself magnetically drawn the MK section of Selfridges trying on a few of the watches myself.

I am a little on the obsessive side when it comes to watches and have always stuck to a square face and a leather strap, I like the way they look on my arm and most importantly the way they feel. They need to be a little bit weighty and the face needs to take up a lot of wrist space so as to make my wrist look thin and dainty! But since being introduced to the MK watch collection and setting my eyes on this fab Tortoise acrylic watch I have found myself in a watch quandary!

The watch is £195 and is gorgeous to look at but it's face is round and every time I look at it on my wrist it feels a little bit wrong! But then I try on a watch that normally would be perfect for me, the (Double wrap watch) it's square and the leather strap is reminiscent of the Hermes Cape Cod (that if I had £1500 I would buy in an instant) and yet when I put it on that now feels wrong because the Tortoise is just so cute!!!!!!

I obviously have more issues when it comes to watches than I thought and will keep re-visiting the MK stand and annoying the sales assistant by trying on watches and having an argument with myself as to which one is actually more me! But if you are less obsessive and in the market for a new time piece then check out the collection as there really is something for everyone.

How do I see Africa? I suppose when I think about Africa I instantly think of Poverty, Crime, Corruption and the shocking visuals of Comic Relief, and I don't think I am alone. However this weekend I was invited to attend Africa Fashion Week by the fabulous See Africa Differently team. My view as I went home on Saturday evening was a very different one. I went away with thoughts of beautiful fashion, amazing textiles and great entrepreneurial spirit.

The day started off with yummylicous pastries at Patisserie Valerie where we got to meet fellow bloggers and then it was off to the event and the first of 3 fashion shows. 'Ozora' was a real stand out collection with a wide selection of beautiful dresses that could take a girl from the beach to the Red Carpet and the more relaxed beach garments were the real stand out pieces.

This purple chiffon dress with yellow trim looked fresh and fun:

Then this long black dress with intricate beading on the neckline would work really well on the beach or out for dinner and looked really elegant on the catwalk.
