I was pretty sceptical if I ever, ever gonna consider having a blog and now within three weeks I have three! Haha! And I am lovin` it. It makes life so much easier. They are by no way "personal" diaries but schoolblogs. We have so much group work to do and to create a blog for a special task or project is the best solution I have ever found. Everyone can upload, post share, order, link together... yep, I am officially a fan. Thanks Richard.
So this will probably be the last entry on this blog - but sure enough not MY last blog entry in the www.

My Harddrive crashed - so this is the preview for my last video.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 174px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxN96zVoC7Hd1wFG2xPUsd0snOtIKCmYcu86z277oJHsqNOeU0yojcBIYruLNmHEFx0gDaSyjb4f7TGnivLumtqdhqgUypY7Yzff09v5HZbzMyl3hRT7I1WLoIr1ybI0FZtk5jX0JAjxVA/s320/Screen+shot+2011-03-31+at+1.03.54+AM.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5590012992797632066" />
My Harddrive crashed - I was just finishing my last video - and then my boy fell over the wire. After passing the Welcome Hall I decided to go to the beach. Feeling cold and miserable I decided to go surfing - but first I needed a board. Pretty soon I found a shop but there was no one there - when I left the shop I bumped into a deserted car, doors wide open, all streets empty... Maybe something happened here, maybe some sort of apocalyptic disaster and I was the only one not informed. I decided to leave this place immediately. I went on an island called the sexy nude beach -ohooo - this name promised a lot of fun and stranded folks. And indeed - there, were more people. I immediately got a request to join a group. And since I felt relieved to find some human beings after this Mad Max scenario, I generously accepted. A bunch of questions bumped up, but I wanted to see the beach. I probably made a complete fool out of myself walking the beach in a schoolgirl uniform and leather boots. But hey, that`s what Second Life is for, isn`t it? To make a fool out of oneself. Or a hero. Anyway, short after I got chat invitations from right and left, actually I couldn`t see the the guys talking to me, I was also not very sure if they were really addressing me but I got really confused and felt suddenly very shy. I was nearly blushing, I promise. Should I tell them that I was new? No that`s lame... Should I ask them what I was supposed to do here? Why are they all here anyway? Just walking around in circles? What am I supposed to do? Lay down and get a sunburn?
I decided to kill myself. So I walked into the sea. As far as I could go. But I didn`t die. Pfffff what is life worth if you don`t have a counter part? If you can`t loose it?
I deleted my Second Life account and went out for a long walk.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 237px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg77_VkKUFodOGxsuJbF3Iyrp06NRGqrPRESiAcYAjsnCva46wxXqzNJY5strbf__E8iSxEqGzToOudbgp-foLbw7BWEs4wQZDzv-D0aVAq40voKwP4NAYChmmbXna-Lgl68YAF977ESUvf/s320/Screen+shot+2011-03-21+at+5.36.31+PM.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586580603518878162" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 238px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFjba_iioK4QEm8tUUgWP4nwd3gihDHrqLwW4IDdLrIghL-wvl7ZKi-za7a1D7HPeYYoYUkmuHVOW750OXJgT8IGmqfxnpsa7dNcTmrYua0qvd6uGzCOau24Dlr1hCldYb2bVVvpsUnstt/s320/Screen+shot+2011-03-21+at+5.35.04+PM.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586580597739506418" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 235px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifoQ874jpzelfoC5P5OSvXoEPWsvlSGHL5ldW-Z3abKIzOKNq8bCynjv7NnpHfMq7up6-fiLUhT-qtUYSZEPCVDqpG447eEIzsFYt6MfnPxlzx-Q5qF4Ol2Oz2ZDGfJL0dLaEog18XubmO/s320/Screen+shot+2011-03-21+at+5.30.20+PM.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586580590063065922" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 65px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic5Vx9iipSpCy9k4_z0W_7IPm5703Cl8kVcoSvkIwbMSi71cf4D_3JhBFpBPPDWQEV7HfzPbznqYjREioxUcpLLO9zuBiphRc6Kzo_MT038dJvsmHzOtSQuVBlBzQttmoeklFBE1GORn9R/s320/Screen+shot+2011-03-21+at+5.40.34+PM.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586580584660024210" />

Social Networking

I am a facebook member since 2007. I was living in Shanghai when Facebook suddenly became very popular. One friend after another broke down and joined the fast growing community. At the beginning it seemed to be fantastic to be suddenly able to reconnect non- commitally with all those lost friends, ex-loves and childhood buddies. It was fun to check out your friend`s friends (at the beginning most profiles were open and unprotected - everyone could see everything) and it was even exciting to get friend request from strangers.
It was also cool to show pictures and clips online and post links from my youtube or flickr channel. I got much more feedbacks and clicks from Facebook members than just from the usual platform tourists. So well I guess I thought it was pretty awesome for quite a while. I even got quite a few job offers thanks to Facebook.
Then suddenly one day - when we came back to Europe in 2009 - I realized that I handled it quite careless. Eventhough I never ever posted weird or offensive status updates or pictures and I never shared a lot about my private life I still had much to many strangers in my friends list and to many photos tagged with my name.
So I deleted my account and lived happily without it - for two weeks? Maybe three. I felt so disconnected. I realzized that I have neither an email address nor phone number from most of my Shanghai friends. And even if I had one - email addresses change, so do phone numbers and addresses but you will always find your friends on facebook - even if they change names or countries - you are connected trhough friends and will find them again in friend`s friendslist. So I joined again- now with different name and just adding people I really know and like - or at least not dislike.
I try to keep my friendslist under 300 and never ever post something unless I really have the strong desire to share this.
And it works great. I am seldom using Facebook anymore - at least not actively. I check everyday - but unless something really cool or funny happened I stay calm.

What do I think about blogging now ?

What do I think about blogging? And do I want to become a blogger?
There are a couple of blogs out there which I love - they give me daily inspiration. I am not confining myself to any special field. I love Garance Dores as much as I love Stu Maschwitz` thoughts on the new forms of cinema.
But they are both specialists. They know what they are talking about. They work in a very special field and share their insights. That is great. And generous. And smart. And makes them known. And hired. And liked.

But I never read any blogs about just the daily life, and thoughts of every Tom, Dick and Harry. Not even if I would know Harry personally. Oh I would love to watch Harry or Dick or Tom dealing daily with their smaller and bigger problems believe me - but I am not really interested in their polished or customized self-portrayal. Maybe it is really a cultural thing.
And as long as I don`t have any extraordinary skills, don`t move to the moon and am not really specialised in a certain field I don`t consider it necessary to start a blog. I better continue to tell my little sucess stories and mishaps to friends an family - they have to listen because they know and like me.

glas

Photo by Wacky Bellerina. Sort it out. Use one name.

VIDEO I have some video experience, but I never ever had to shoot and finish a clip so quickly. So I am curious if I will be able to loosen up a bit and just start playing around.

BLOGGING I read Blogs but I never started my own. I don`t consider myself as a good writer and I don`t have any special skills to show the world.

So it will be interesting to see if I will have a different view on things after finishing this workshop.
