Old-Fashioned Playing: Why It's Important for Modern Kids

How much time do your kids have for unstructured play? You know, the old-fashioned kind, where time and space are open and you get to do whatever you think of that happens to strike your fancy. In generations past, unstructured play constituted almost all the leisure time of children. Today, most kids' after-school time is filled with scheduled activities: sports, ballet, art classes - everything but time and space itself.

Empty time and space are essential for children if we want them to be happy and creative. It's in the gaps between the structures of our lives where we find refreshment, insight and inspiration. Our originality is rooted in that place, and we can only access it in "downtime". Kids need downtime even more than adults.

A child who doesn't get to just kick back and be silly, or kick back and pretend, or kick back and contemplate, is a kid in danger of becoming robotic, of living life in a programmed way instead of being the doer and creator of his own story. Such a child may grow up to be "successful", but at what cost? Is having a star ballerina or gymnast in the family as important as having a son or daughter who lives genuine fulfillment and happiness, defined on their own terms?

There's nothing wrong in giving your kid piano or dancing lessons, or signing them up for sports. But when those activities consume most nights in the week, or exhaust the energy of your little one, something is out of balance. If your child doesn't have at least an hour each day to do whatever she likes by herself, something essential is missing in her life.

Unstructured playtime can take place alone or with other kids, but at least some play time, some days a week, should include quiet time where your child can be alone - imagining, drawing, humming, climbing, swinging, pretending, playing with the dog, or following any other whim without the distraction of others.

During play time, make materials available to the kids to inspire creative or reflective activities. Play materials should include things like colored markers, scissors, paper, pencils and pens, paints, modeling clay, pipe cleaners, blocks, Lego, marbles, books, and clothes for playing "dress-up." Old-fashioned play props like these should never have gone out of fashion, as they are important for culturing the originality and creativity of every child.

Give your child more downtime (with the TV turned off), and you'll see him start to learn to make his own fun. It's amazing the things kids can turn into a toy or a game if we give them the room and the time to imagine in. Unstructured free time for kids is not only essential to their sense of well-being and happiness during childhood, it is vital for their development into independent, thinking, original adults.

Carve out free space and free time for your child at home, and you'll be delighted at the wonders that emerge. It's there inside each young person, like a butterfly in a cocoon, just waiting for the right climate to draw it out. All you have to do is create an allowing environment, free up their schedule and make space for it to happen.

The company I am involved with has a few advantages that personally resonate with me. There are as follow:

There is no one juice or berry or vitamin that this is promoting and you are being asked to “sell”. This is basically a portal, or a doorway if you will, to provide people the opportunity to shop at all of the retailers they are already shopping at – only now they get paid for doing so.
Everything about their sales training is about NOT selling this in any pushy way. They clearly know that what they have is set up in such a way that it sells itself. The easy part of this “work” is that all you need to do is get people to try it once. When they do and they see the clear benefits – it really sells itself.
The people behind the company are “real people” who are clearly very passionate about their dream. These leaders are qualified to mentor and lead others to success.
In their history, they have never been late on making a payment, in fact, they are known for paying early.
The training calls, seminars, videos, etc. are top of the line and easy to follow, access and comprehend.
They built the company of strong principles and values of integrity and character.

My Personal Thoughts of Direct Sales and Network Marketing:

As Network Marketing and Direct Sales Professionals, I firmly believe that together we can do more to reverse the worldwide recession and give people their dreams back, than all of the government bailout packages combined. Clinton did state that this industry IS THE HEART OF “THE AMERICAN DREAM”!
I firmly believe that we can rebuild and re-energize the free enterprise system from the ground up - one individual at a time.
I believe we have to create a revolution in the way our business is done. We must challenge ourselves to higher levels of leadership and take personal responsibility for making our own way within a community that supports and rewards our individual growth.
I believe we have to shift the way we do business, how network marketing is viewed around the world, and what kind of future we will build with it.
I believe people want their personal power back, and in this industry – you have the chance to “walk your talk” and claim that power. But you have to work it – it will NOT rain down on your from the sky. If you put in your effort and work it, you will be rewarded.

My Personal Thoughts for the “Nay-Sayers”…

Only 3% of people in the country are financially successful and secure.

This is because most people are lazy and skeptical - which is convenient because it makes it easier for us positive thinking winners. I've noticed that there are 2 types of nay-sayers;

#1) Professional people with Law degrees and Master's degrees who either don't like to see people with maybe less credentials make more money with less work (which is their problem not ours) or they may be legitimately worried about their "reputations" of being involved with something that scares many people and clients (which I can understand).

#2) The way more numerous typical lazy person who can't ever follow through on anything anyway.

Many of these folks seem to have the excess time for over analyzing and bashing everyone and everything out there then just getting off their chairs and getting to work.

ANYTHING WORKS IF YOU WORK IT.

Personally, I like to hang out with positive thinking winners that want to give back to society through saving the planet and donating some proceeds. That is what STE is all about!

Yes, there are people who are critical of STE because of the $100 per month selling/buying requirement. However, I don't know ANYONE who does not spend at least $100 per month on items needed to run their household or business; and they get NOTHING back for those purchases.

The way I see it, STE offers a way to profit from the spending you are already doing. Going at it alone on an affiliate site isn't a business, it's coupon cutting.

You can't save yourself rich.

The only way you can make money is to earn it.

Earning money isn't easy, and takes work.

Isn't it sad that so often teens get such a bad rap. Skateboarders more so! My son is a skateboarder and I am so proud of him. He has other interests too, like writing, speaking, volunteering for the parks & recreation department, teaching skate camp to kids, attending personal development seminars and studying neuro-linguistic programming. My son has to be one of the coolest teens on the planet - but I'll let you decide. I made this short video of some of his accomplishments today and I just had to share...

"Hi Matt, The reason I bought HyperVRE was so that my 12 year old son could make some extra money for a School Band trip to New York City next spring. I've read all over the net about making money with Adsense and even bought a few other "packages" only to be disappointed.

Welcome to 2009, a Universal year of 11 vibrational energy (2+0+0+9 = 11).

There has not been a Universal 11 year since 1910, thus well over 99% of the worlds population have never experienced a Universal 11 year vibration in their lifetime… so this is a biggy for our entire planet !

In numerology the number 11 is a Master Number – ‘Master’ meaning it is of intense/high vibrational frequency and works within the etherical, magical and transcendental realms of creation. Master numbers possess great potential for learning and growth, and can bring major transformations in life.

The number 11 is the most intuitive number and is a clear channel to the subconscious. It is the number of leadership, personal power and spiritual truths.

The number 1 by itself represents leadership, initiative and new beginnings… thus two number 1’s together opens a gateway of potential far greater than the sum of its parts.

The gateway of the Master Number 11, is the freedom of choice. The freedom to choose a path of truth, authenticity & Love, or conversely to recoil in fear, pain and stagnation.

Thus the 11 Universal vibration year will bring about a planetary rLOVEution of grand proportions and connect EARTH back to the HEART (just move the H from the end to the beginning) of LOVE (Live, One, Vibrational, Energy).

With Pluto (transformation) sitting in the sign of Capricorn (hardwork, honesty, integrity) until 2024 and also in January 2009 Jupiter (expansion) sitting in Aquarius (humanitarian, visionary) for the next 12 months… our 2009 vibrational 11 year is being powered by visionary & humanitarian principles of change. Change for the greater good of all.

This change is happening now from the ground up, and we are noticing the effects around us as we witness the breaking down of outmoded authority structures, governments, financial markets and religion.

In a Universal 11 year, we have the choice to react to these changes in fear, or actively participate in the re-building of a new society with LOVE. The choices we make this year, in a Universal 11 year have the potential to facilitate great leaps in the collective consciousness of our planet…

We are INDIVIDUALLY & COLLECTIVELY the PIONEERS of change.

What we will see around the planet during 2009 are more and more people seeking answers to life’s questions, and waking up from the deep sleep or hypnotic trance of illusion. People from all nations, religions, walks of life will be propelled to speak up, express their truths and seek the truth from those in positions of power.

There is power in the masses, and the Universal 11 year will bring this to the fore. My suggestion for 2009 is to utilize the Universal 11 energy to its highest level of resonance by taking self-responsibility for all your actions.

In numerology the word ‘VIBRATION’ is the number 11, so what ‘VIBRATION’ are you creating in the world ? Are your thoughts, actions, emotions representative of your greater personal and hence collective vision, or is your VIBRATION working the 11 energy in fear ?

You have the choice to align your 11 VIBRATION in Love, Compassion & Unity … what are you going to choose in each moment throughout 2009.

Use Your Power to Get Whatever You Want

Over the past 18 years, I have been obsessed with learning how we can change our reality with the creative power of our minds. I've studied dozens of experts, read hundreds of books, and spent thousands of dollars in this quest. Through all of my experimentation, I've discovered that there are five simple core principles at the heart of the creation process.

In this short article, I have tried to make this knowledge assimple as humanly possible. I want every single person reading this to be able to take this information and use it, easily and quickly. Here then, is the most simple possible explanation of the power ofyour creative energy. Follow these five steps, and any goal can be yours.

Yes, it seems so obvious, doesn't it?

STEP ONE: YOU MUST KNOW WHAT YOU WANT IN ORDER TO GET WHAT YOU WANT
Yet this most basic fist step is missed by the majority of people. You must know what you want as specifically as possible. This is the magic first step.

Daydreaming about your future will not bring you what you want. Waiting for life to work out the way you've always expected won't bring you what you want. The only way to get what you want is to decide, with clarity and focus, exactly what you want to create.

So how do you know what you want? Well, it's very simple. Write down your desires, your dreams, and everything that you want for your life. Then pick the one thing on your list that you know you could accomplish if you dedicated some energy to it. Pick that one and forget about the rest. Pick the very next goal in the creation of your live and go for it.

Focus, focus, focus. Don't waste your energy wishing and dreaming for a million and one things. Pick one and go with it. Just as the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, so does the journey to your ideal life begin with a single goal.

So begin with an easy, do-able goal, so far unaccomplished, plug iti nto this 5-step system. Write down as specifically and exactly what it is you will create. After it's finished, move on to the next goal.

STEP TWO: FOCUS ON WHAT YOU WANT
You must give positive focus, energy, and attention to your goal. Setting a goal and then forgetting about it will not do. You must imprint it on your conscious and subconscious mind until it becomes reality.

Remember, thought is blindingly fast compared to the manifestation of thoughts into reality. Of course, as you practice this system and become more confident, your thoughts will come into reality much more quickly. But as a beginner, you must keep your energy and intention directly on your goal.

You must focus on what you want, not on what you don't want. Stop complaining about things that are not the way you want them to be. Instead, decide how you would like them to be and focus on that. Whenever you find yourself giving attention to some area of your life with which you are unhappy, immediately ask yourself "What do I want in this situation?" and focus on the answer.

Take a look at your goal every day, give it positive focus and attention. Before you fall asleep and after you wake up, instead ofworrying about your problems, imagine your goal successfully attained, and feel how you would feel if your goal was accomplished. Go to sleep with this feeling, and your subconscious mind will quickly find a way to bring it into your reality.

STEP THREE: TAKE ACTION NOW
You must take action towards your goal, and you must take action right now! There is no other time that you can act. The past isgone, the future is an illusion. Making plans to take action is not action. You must take action right now.

There is always something that you can do to propel you towards your goal. It doesn't matter how tiny the action is, or how insignificant you might feel it is, you must do it. There is always some small step you can take. Take that step.

You must convince your subconscious mind that you are serious about accomplishing your goal, and there is nothing more convincing than taking action.

No matter where you are along your path to your goal, no matter how near or far you mights feel to be, there is always an obvious next step you can take. Take that step in this present moment. Right now.

If you have trouble figuring out what to do, or are paralyzed into inaction because it seems there are too many things to do, just do this: Make a list of all the things that need to happen in order for your goal to arrive. List all the intermediary steps that you will experience as your goal begins to enter your life.

Somewhere on this list will be the obvious next step. Do it. Do it now!

If your goal is truly out of your hands, you need a new goal. Waiting for other people to change or give you what you want is a sure way to always be unsatisfied. You must pick a goal you are in control of and do whatever it takes to make it come true. That is the only path to power and mastery in life, and the only way to ever feel fulfilled.

STEP FOUR: CHOOSE THE SAME THING EVERY DAY
You must be consistent. You must, consistently, choose the same goal every day until your goal is accomplished. You cannot send out constantly changing vague wishes into the universe and expect to create results in the real world.

It's as simple as ordering a meal in a restaurant. You must decide what you want and then ask for it. If you can't make up your mind the waiter will simply serve someone else until you're ready. If you do not provide the universe with a specific goal which you consistently take action toward, your "meal" will never come to you.

And the most important secret of all, DON'T GIVE UP UNTIL YOUR GOAL IS ACCOMPLISHED.
