Amanda headed out with me today for the walk. It was awesome being out with her. We had a really good time. The two chihuahua's came along and were completly knackered after ten steps. WHIMP dogs! Cortez is the black one showing off his but to the world in the photo. Chachi is the handsome, masculine one on the right hand side. (Can you tell which one I like?) Another day of walking under my belt and I got to share it with the woman I love! Good day. Now off to see if I can convince her to do some other things...

The picutres of the falls are Snoqualmie Falls in Snoqualmie, WA.

Walkabout 8 July 08

Yesterday: I walked just shy of four miles. No photos. Just walked from my house to the mall. Exciting stuff there.

Today: Today I headed back up into the mountains again. Iron Horse State Park just out of North Bend, WA. Originally, the trail right-of-way was part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. The railroad operated between 1908 and 1980, when the company went into bankruptcy. The state's Department of Natural Resources acquired much of the property and turned it over to State Parks, which continues to acquire land and make improvements to the area. It was just too nice a day not to get out and do some walking. The trail head is very close to my hike the other day. The same parking area is the entrance to a myriad of trail heads. This time I took a path that is more a walk than a hike. Pretty flat and very little incline. I have know idea of how far I went. I walked for two solid hours though. Headed out and set my alarm to go off after one hour on my cell phone. Was that alarm went off I headed back. Got back to my car excatly two hours after I set out. FELT GREAT!

You can see more photos at my Google Web album.

The trail was great. Tons of foxglove and daises along the way. I am going to try to convince Amanda to bring the two crazy dogs out and do some walkign along here. If it is anyting like my experience on a weekday I did not see a single other soul.

Thanks to everyone who has put comments on the site. They really help motivate me.

Walk about 6 JUL 08'

Today's hike was at Rattlesnake Mountain Trail. It is located just outside of North Bend, WA off I-90. I went up two miles to the Rattlesnake Ledge. The photos are from various parts in the trek but most of them are from the summit. The trail was really busy on the way up and it was really encouraging how many people cheered me on or encouraged me to keep going. The hike was two miles up and two miles back down. The two miles up could of just as been a hike to the sky for all I knew. Just kept huffing and puffing. One foot in front of the other. It was busy enough that I parked about a mile from the trailhead. Combine this with the concentrated effort I have been making to eat better and I FEEL GREAT!

Thanks to everyone for their encouragment on this blog. I really appreciate it and it helps keep me heading out to the trails.

Walk about 30 JUN 08'

Today's walk about was to a local park. I only went about two miles and did not spend a long time taking this walk, under an hour. It was enjoyable. Just a couple minutes from the house and close to the water. I just wasn't up to walking around the neighborhood and almost need to get out in the woods. I am really enjoying the hiking aspect and need to get myself in a posistion where I can schedule and do more of the hiking side of walking. The park is called Hannabrook Park and it is located in Everett, WA

Walk about 29 June 08'

Drove to Gold Bar, WA to do a hike in the Wallace Falls State Park. Ed Spettigue (my boss) and a co-worker Brad Deicas came along. We had a really good time and it definetly made it more fun and motivated me to push harder. We hiked 5 miles. A good portion of it was on railroad grade trails with a little incline. About a mile was trails with some pretty hefty climbing and switchbacks involved to climb altitude. Never saw sasquatch which was a real bumber to us all. I would like to be able to make it to the upper falls by the end of the summer.

Walkabout 24 June 08

Gas jumped quite a bit overnight here.

Checked the mileage of last nights walk - 3.7 miles.

Had a great walk with Olivia today. It was a bummer though cause I was taking her home afterwards. That is always sad. We had a good time though and it was a really nice day to be hanging out by the beach and hiking around. Today's trip was to Old Fort Townsend State Park in WA.

It was a pretty steep downgrade down to the beach and coming back up sure was a pain! We will see.

There are more photos of our trip and of Olivia on my Google Photo site. Check it out if you like.

I am not sure how far we went but we walked for and hour and fifty-five minutes so I imagine we covered a good distance.

<img style="CLEAR: both; It was a pretty long day around here. House inspections, walk through with the builder, and appraiser in the early morning. Errands in the afternoon. Since it was late we just walked in a loop around the neighborhood. She thinks we went about 4 miles. I am thinking more like 2 to 2 and a half. I will drive the route we took tomorrow and see. The tree is right in the front yard to our apartment and it is pretty this time of year. Everyone seems to be talking about gas prices. See them keep going higher and maybe everyone will be walking more.

Off to shower and bed. More walking to do tomorrow.

Walk about on 6/ 22 Wallace Falls

Today's walk was moderately easy.  We went about 2 miles up and back on the Wallace Falls Trail in Gold Bar, WA.  It was a lot of fun and it was easy to find something to take pictures of since Olivia was out with me.  She was running along everywhere and really patient with her father who was obviously keeping her behind.  Enjoy the photos!  Tommrow we plan on going to Granite Falls.  1.8 Miles Walked today.<img style="CLEAR: both;
