ASE is now over, its friday and here’s the HeavyT Recap.

So I left you all off with me getting into NYC and checking into the London. Some people flew in that Saturday from another company and we went to get some grub since they had been flying all day and we all were hungry. We got back to the hotel and I called it a night since the meet market was the next day. I woke up Sunday morning around 8am to meet someone for breakfast who never woke up but go figure I wasn’t surprised. So I hit up Josh Todd since I had some breakfast credits at the London and then we both headed over to get out passes for the conference.

The meet market was packed this year, there were a lot of good companies in attendance. I saw some new ones while chatted up some old ones I’ve known over the years and it was good to see everyone again. I later went back to the hotel after grabbing something to eat and hung out with a good crew of fellow affiliates at the london bar as I waited for someone to show who again didn’t, no surprise again, so a bunch of us headed over to the meetup 202 party at Touch. After hanging out there for a little and chatting it up with Wes, and Ryan we decided to leave for a planned dinner. Ian and Brandon and I headed over to the dinner with Kitara Media. We had a great time and the dinner portions at the Capitol Grille were huge. I’d like to thank them and Ian for inviting me to the party.

After the dinner I decided to head back to the hotel and get ready for the always awesome Sharasale party at the Empire hotel. After going to this party I know it is always one of the big ones and make sure I get there early as they give out way more passes then capacity. While there I took some pics in the photo booth that I threw up at the bottom. I hung out at the party with my girls Kim and Sheena from Plenty of Fish and Marcus stopped by later in the evening to chat. I was waiting for some people to show but they didn’t make it before they closed the doors, guess that’s what happens when you don’t plan ahead and you procrastinate. For a couple hours or so I was enjoying my vodka redbulls and smoking my cigar in the NYC air. It was truly a beautiful night and the company made it even better. Thank you Sheena and Kim you can be my wing girls anytime. Well the party started dying down so the POF Crew and Jason from A4D and I all went out for some late night adventures and had an awesome time. All I can say it we all had a blast.

The next morning I got up got showered and dressed and headed over to the conference. I immediately as I walk in I get bombarded with people asking if I’m HeavyT and thanking me for the dinner I’m hosting later in the evening. I walked around the conference and I saw some new faces as well as some old ones. I also made it a point to stop by and see the sponsors of the Affiliate dinner I was hosting so I could introduce myself and let them know how everything was going.

After the Conf I headed over to Maison to talk to the manager and let him know everything was on for the dinner that night. He said he was shutting down the place and moving everything around for us. So back to the hotel to change and get ready for the Affiliate Dinner. I got there a little bit early around 6:15 and started setting up. The staff there was beyond helpful. By 6:30 people already started coming over from the conference and by 7:15 the party was in full swing. I was running around introducing myself and people were thanking me for the party. I had an awesome time and it was great meeting everyone. I’m defiantly going to do it again at Adtech NYC. So I’m gonna up the sponsorship and or get more sponsors and make it better than before. While at the dinner I was chillin with Smaxor and we decided to bounce after everything was over and head to GreenHouse for the Engage BDR party. You see I did dabble in a little myspace advertising and I do have over 70 myspace accounts so when a party like this comes up BDR sends an email to every advertising account. I got 70 lol. So off we go to the the club. We hang out there for a little and then it hits 10pm, uh oh some other group came in and started showing some skater vid so we decided to leave. So I guess its time to hit up the Clickbooth and Neverblue party at the Hudson. Truth be told I never made it to the Clickbooth party. I got a wrist band so booze was free to me and anyone else who I got it for. Some people didn’t understand that and didn’t think it was an open bar but it was to Neverblue affiliates, props to my english am Kenny. Yt Cracker spun on the decks while I talked to various people through the night while cracking jokes, trying to dance, and getting my drink on. At this point Jason from a4d wanted to continue the party so we headed over to Greenhouse again and got bottle service while we drank some more. After a couple hours went by it was time to head home.

The last day of the conference I got up in the morning and didn’t really go, I actually met up with bofu and we chilled in the room for a little and shot the shit all day. He left the hotel and I tied up some loose ends with some business before I went to meet him and fatbat from WF at 5 at the Hilton for some drinks and then we had a meeting with a company down near 4th street or something. After that all three of us hit up rays pizza for dinner and then headed back to the London and watched some tv and just vegged.

Overall the convention was a success. To me its never really about the conferences, its about making new friends and strengthening friendships of old. I hope everyone had an awesome time at the dinner and the positive reactions I’ve gotten from everyone there indicated to me that there will be another at every conference if possible.

Its nice to be back in this hotel. After last year staying here I fell in love with it. There are also alot of celebs that stay here at the hotel. Surprisingly enough when I pulled up there were photographers and kids waiting outside to get a glimpse of someone. Last year during ASE I saw demi moore and ashton kutcher, puff daddy, lil wayne, the drummer form the pretenders, travis barker and lead singer from blink 182, and a couple sports players. Well after a long drive I checked into my hotel and I got a pretty nice room, I had a free upgrade available but since ase is here they are totally booked. Oh well…. I took some pics as usual of my room. See you around the floor guys.

Want to take a flight in my private plane?

I posted earlier that I was in vegas and Jason aka Smaxor the owner of Ads4dough decided to fly into vegas from San Diego to hang out for a couple hours and we decided to go for a quick flight around the area. This was the first time I’ve ever flown in a private plane. It was defiantly different as the temp outside was 101 and the updraft from the heat was creating turbulence. I never knew how much concentration you have to have when flying a plane. As far as I knew it was easy but its not. There are so many things you have to keep track of from levers and wheels and instruments to listening to the tower on the radio and looking out for helicopters and other aircraft flying around you. After an awesome flight around Hoover Dam and a quick run around Vegas we headed from Henderson to the luxor for dinner at Tender. I love that place it has an awesome atmosphere. I wanted to thank Jason for taking the time out of his busy schedule and visit while I was in vegas. Take a look at the pics below.

So it was my birthday this past weekend and as I type this I’m having room service eating pizza making a post on the blog and taking a break from working. I flew into vegas on Friday of last week and due to aircraft maintenance I missed my connecting flight in philly. They put me up at a hotel and luckily they had first class seats available again the next day to Vegas. Though I am IN Vegas this week I’m not actually partying and drinking it up. I been working on alot of new things and researching offers and traffic sources for new campaigns. I been working during that day in the room, then going out to dinner at night hitting up the strip and then back to bed to do it all again the next day. In addition to doing this I’m also putting together and organizing an ASE affiliate dinner in nyc. My plate is pretty full up until ASE this week as well as the planned events and meetings I have at ASE. Right now I’m staying at the four seasons in vegas. Its a really really nice hotel. It was just as good if not better then the one in NYC I stayed at recently. Well back to the grind. Here are some pics below of the room.

So this week I took a flight out to the Getads offices to hang out with them for a bit and speak to the crew, do a little seminar, and give them some insight on PPV and different traffic sources. Being an affiliate manager can be hard sometimes when you’ve always been on one side of the fence. Many people come to this industry as affiliate managers and have no prior experience or, even tho there are some, have never been affiliates themselves. PPV can be a hard topic to grasp and if you have never done it being able to get in on it can be troublesome if you have to learn on your own. I was happy that George and the crew invited me out for a good time and I decided to stay for the first ever Denver meetup202. My presentation lasted for a little over an hour and I covered everything from very basic info to server setup and optimizing for ppv and prosper to php coding and smart and unique ways to take an offer and spin it for different demographics. After we went out to fogo de chao for lunch and it was the first time I had ever been. I was pretty amazed and had an awesome time. The meetup202 for being the first one and hosted by Getads was a completely success. Alot of people showed up from different companies in the area and a good amount of affiliates showed up including myself. George gave a motivation speech in the conference room describing what the industry is where its headed and if you want it bad enough you can reach your goal. The mood was inviting and friendly, everyone was in good spirits, and jokes among coworkers and new comers bounced around the room as we introduced ourselves. Everyone had a good time. One of the affiliate managers, Mike, from getads decided to lighten the mood by sporting some clothes in a true spirit of trying to revive the 80′s. If you have a meetup in your area I highly suggest meeting with people and mingling. Its nice to be able to meet people who aspire to do what we do as well as meet others who can relate to our daily lives.

I forgot how much I missed this town. With ASE in Aug and ADTech in Nov I can’t wait to come to NYC again. I miss this city its so alive. Walking the streets at night and seeing how alive everything is even after the sun goes down reminds me of how this industry has its lulls where it seems its coming to an end and where things begin and pick back up again. I’m town for a couple days on business taking care of some stuff and I’m staying at the Four Seasons. This hotel is pretty nice, everyone is very nice and professional. I ended up driving up here in the escalade to take care of some things and go for a nice drive. Since I’ve always flown to the big apple I never realized how much having a car in this city costs. Its 60$ a night here just for your car. I guess thats the price you pay living in a city like this with little parking. Well the room I got was really nice, and its got a nice balcony outside. I love this city..Pics are below.

So there is this cool website called www.withings.com that has a wifi enabled scale. Basically this thing after you step on it gets your weight body fat percent and body mass index and uploads it to its website. I’ve been watching what I eat ever since I came back from adtech san fran and I’ve lost a total of 15lbs. It helps track everything for you and it can track multiple users. Then you can log into the website, share your graph or even use a free iphone app and look at your progress online.

My heath and a Diabetes update.

So its been a while since I posted on my blog here about the health problems I have and my diabetes progress. Overall I’m doing fine and I have my blood sugar under control. I’ve actually lost a little weight now that I’ve decided to concentrate on my health a little bit more. I been eating smarter and actually looking at the labels on things I eat, trying to cut out large carb portions and eating more but in smaller portions.

In one of my older posts I talked about getting a medical id bracelet here http://www.wallofmonitors.com/2010/02/week-two-down-of-having-diabetes/ but I didn’t like the way it looked. I wanted something a little bit more designer and better looking. Yeah it was cool but ya know its kinda plain and generic. So The other night I fired up google and found a place called http://www.stickyj.com that not only had medical id stuff, some of it was really cool looking. After looking through their selections I decided on the one above. Its actually pretty cool and i’m excited to get it. Well thats about it for now.
