A new commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the
60^th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s
accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada.
The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for
Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country.
At the same time, it serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.
During the year of celebrations, 60 000 deserving Canadians will be recognized.

The Chancellery of Honours, as part of the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General,
administers the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal program.

May 4-6, 2012:

Walls of Hope - Dream Rooms was at The Lighthouse (Oakville) May 4 – 6th; completing another successful project.

A goal of Dream Rooms is to bring hope and happiness to a child, with life challenging illnesses/disabilities/situations; by transforming their bedroom or special place into a bright, safe and uplifting haven

The Lighthouse was a perfect recipient for a Dream Rooms project for many reasons:

• The Lighthouse project, allows Walls of Hope to Heal a Heart, Transform a Life & Restore Hope for multiple children and families — today and for years to come.
• The Lighthouse is a deserving organization which provides a forum/safe place for companionship with others (mainly children and teens) who have experienced a “life-altering” death; helping these children and family members learn to: express/feel/deal/cope with the aftermath of death.
• Walls of Hope and Dream Rooms is inspired by the many The Lighthouse leaders, volunteers and recipient families. What amazing work and transformation is being accomplished at The Lighthouse.

Walls of Hope and Dream Rooms proudly dedicates this project in loving memory of Gabrielle; the beautiful daughter of Nikki and Paul, sister to Sophie and Benn, who was taken from all of us in 2010 and would have been celebrating her 7th birthday this week.

• Gabrielle was a wonderful child who loved butterflies and frogs (among other things). She was with us this weekend in the form a very small and beautiful butterfly that was constantly around outside in the The Lighthouse garden; as the Dream Rooms team worked and during the reveal presentation.
• So much so…..that after the reveal I mentioned this to Gabrielle’s mom and we went out to the garden; where that same small butterfly appeared again:)
• We were fortunate enough to capture pictures with Gabrielle’s mom, sister and brother sitting in the The Lighthouse garden (tears flowing)… with that beautiful butterfly floating around the family and eventually landing on Gabrielle’s mom skirt long enough to take photos….
• Gabrielle’s little brother (Benn) summed it up best: “Mommy is Gabrielle here with us?”…”Is she flying?”…”Why can she fly and I Can’t?”

Origins For Ride For Hope:
One of our long time volunteers, announced his idea for Ride For Hope at the 2012 Walls of Hope gala and had an amazing response.

John, with his desire to leverage any spare time outside of his: professional work hours, personal commitments, his upcoming wedding and his love for motorcycles … was wondering how he could participate in the 2012 Walls of Hope Challenge with something he was passionate about.

John came up with a way to combine his love of “travelling the road on two wheels” and giving back to the community. His idea to organize a “motorcycle rally/ride”;  which will raise awareness and money for a good cause, was eagerly supported by fellow Walls of Hope volunteer Todd Wirtz (Owner of Auto Spa – Mississauga)

John and Todd have been part of 7+ projects, 2 annual Galas and other fundraising/awareness initiatives for Walls of Hope

The 1st Annual Ride of Hope is shaping up to be an amazing day to raise awareness and funds for an awesome cause which supports children and families in: Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga, Brampton and Milton.

Details of what/how we will transform areas of the LIGHTHOUSE location are currently being defined.

LIGHTHOUSE is truly wonderful and helps so many families/children during and long after each life affecting circumstance.
The amazing positive affects of a Dream Rooms project will profoundly impact multiple client families of LIGHTHOUSE.
We are proud to annonce that we have a surplus of volunteers, but gratefully welcome all/any supplier and interior merchant support.
