While the visual of the poster is a bit different from my signature look, the sentiment is surely the same. It is about the celebration of the game yes, but even more to me it’s a celebration of our city, community, and the positive energy that has surrounded the city leading up to the event. The poster was designed to embrace those feelings, and in addition, be a piece that is clear and accessible to everyone. Just what I felt was needed. Many thanks to all those who expressed their joy about the piece, the project has been a joy to work on!

Back from Newport RI. and an amazing exhibit aboard the yacht “Seafair”. Modern Masters and Indy Contemporary staged a super sophisticated venue for my current show. The opening was hailed as a “Newport social event” and the reception to my work better than expected. In addition to my work, Constance Edwards Scopelitis also had a one man show with her own opening a week later with similar reviews to her great new work. Modern Masters in an adjacent gallery mounted what can only be described as a museum quality exhibit of contemporary prints from masters in chronological order from the 1930’s to present time. Those works included Picasso, Miro, Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler, and Andy Warhol to name a few.

Back in Indy – so what’s next?

Well….Finally back to blogging, I’ve been feeling like sharing bits of my experiences with my friends and fans of the studio, so this seems like the easiest way to do so! Recent trip to NY was inspiring…as usual, Niermann Weeks showroom had done a nice display of my work with Scrolls wall covering and a great layout of the new fabric collection on one of their beautiful round tables, the linen looked great against the antique wood. The stationary show was good as well, I’m anxious to get back to designing some stationary again. The Contemporary Furniture Fair was wild as usual. Had a chance to go by Felissimo, the place of my favorite show ever in NY! Sad to say, they have closed the NY townhouse and have closed the incredible home and design store. Way sad. Yes, things do move forward, and the studio is as well. My best work is yet to come!

Just back from Miami without a suntan where I attended Art Basel with Evan Lurie from the Carmel gallery. I was excited to see more art galleries in one space at the same time than in NYC over an entire week of wandering. But I felt a tiny bit depressed that the city had turned the art community into what truly felt like a giant trade show. Had fun meeting Chuck Close and Jim Rosenquest at the Pace Gallery booth. Not only was this networking great, but I got an idea for my next East Coast show.
