It's been a great 2nd week of school!  

We're getting into our routine now and getting into the swing of things! Look for a "behavior log" in your child's take home folder.  This should provide you with a snapshot of each day.  Also, look for homework... no need to panic, we are easing into this!  You can expect to see a word ring to come home daily. On Monday, read each word and have your child echo you. On Tuesday, provide help as needed.  By Friday, your child should be reading the words to you. Once your child can read them, play games with the words. (Example: Look in any childrens book and go on a Word Hunt, play "I Spy", practice tracing the words, spelling the words, ...).   

As far as other homework, look for a math review sheet, and a phonics or reading activity.  I will also, occasionally, send home unfinished classwork.

Just a few other things to note:

• Our classroom is FREEZING...please send a sweater or jacket with your student :) 
• Please send in some Dollar Store sentence strips (for the word rings)
• If you could send in a container of antibacterial wipes - that would be greatly appreciated too.  Lots of runny noses already~

Welcome to 2011-2012!

I'm so excited to get back to school!  The summer was nice, but I definitely miss the kids~

I just want to take a minute to introduce myself.  I am a single mom of two - I have a son (21), a daughter (16), and a dog (13).  I typically spend my free time outdoors being active in some way, getting together with friends and family, reading, and working on projects around the house.  I'm not one to sit and relax a whole lot.  I love sports, especially UGA and Falcons Football.  

My background has been teaching Special Education - with a particular emphasis on students with Autism and Behavioral Disorders.  I have also worked a great deal with kiddos who have Learning Deficits of all kinds.  This year, I will be teaching small group Math, Reading, English/Language Arts, and Social Skills for grades Kindergarten - 3rd.  

I look forward to seeing all of you at the open house this (            ).   At that time, I will have tidbits to share with you about the coming school year; homework expectations, behavioral expectations, daily agendas.
