For those who are interested in starting bowls, we shall be having a big Open Day Event on Sunday, 15th May from 10.30 am - 2.30 pm which will be incorporated into the Hooper's Field Open Day where all the clubs are pleased to give everyone of all ages the opportunity try their different sports and enjoy other interesting attractions. Further details to follow!!!!

But, if you can't wait until then, come down to the club on a Friday afternoon at 2.00 pm and see what bowls is all about ........ people are usually surprised to find that there is much more to the game than they had envisaged and that people of all ages can enjoy it. We have had members aged from 9 to 90 playing at the same time!

We are looking to have much wider availability for different groups in the near future so watch this space - bowls could be the game for you.

A GREAT SEASON

The Hooper's Field Open Day was again a great success with the local community of all ages enjoying the different sports and activities we had to offer. £200 was raised on the raffle which was donated to the Prospect Hospice.

There were plenty of matches to fit in, including local League matches and friendly games as well as Club, Swindon & District Association and County competitions. Fortunately, the weather was reasonably kind and everything was just about completed on time. Congratulations to all who achieved so highly and had great success for the club. One particular highlight was our club winning the very first Swindon & District Mixed Double Rink Triples competition but perhaps this was appropriate as it was a suggestion from our club that instigated this event. Another achievement was for our Junior Member, Millie, who represented the County and was a travelling reserve for the National Championships at just 10 years old.

The day of the Wanborough Show in August dawned hot and sunny and the usual stalwarts dressed up and paraded in the Carnival, this year as The Moulin Rouge and the Wanborough Bowls Club Can't Can't Girls!!!!! We collected nearly £100 for Prospect from the villagers of Wanborough and, together with money raised from our stand on the show field, we were able to make a total donation of £150. Thank you everyone for your generosity.

Now we have polished off our bowls, hung up our bowls kit and will look forward to next April when we can start all over again.
