Stampin' Up! Leadership 2012

I have been extremely busy this week with the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference and Regional Conference in San Antonio, Texas. I live pretty close (about 35 miles) so I drove in and home every day. Not only did I have an AMAZING time learning so much, but I also got to meet so many amazing ladies! I took tons of pictures and am in the process of editing them. I will get them posted as soon as I can.

I got to take some classes from the super incredible Carrie Cudney, Bonnie Thurber, Amy Swartz and Paula Critchlow as well as Donna Griffith, Demonstrator Presenter: Patsy Waggoner. We talked about Why Women Buy, Title Benefits, Including a New Generation in Stamping (this could be YOU!) and Retaining and Engaging Downline. All of my classes were very informative and sometimes entertaining! I really feel rejuvinated and motivated! I can't wait for Convention this year and Leadership again in 2013!!!

Stampin' Up! is an amazing company and I am so happy to be a part of it.

My second UStamp project has posted. This was super fun to make! I couldn't believe how easily it came together, either. I had always wanted to make both the card and the 3D mug, but just thought it would be too difficult. I was wrong :)

Day in the Life MDS Share

As I mentioned in my post here, Stampin' Up! has once again very GENEROUSLY given all of their Facebook fans a free digital download kit called Day in the Life. Here's a look at the kit:

This kit, valued at $14.95, includes a 38-piece stamp brush set, 12 DSP patterns, 21 embellishments and a two page 8"x8" layout. I just have to say that it is FABULOUS! I haven't had much time to play around in My Digital Studio lately ... life has been crazy to say the least! However, these templates make it so, so easy to put a page together. I just picked out a few of my favorite pictures for the past year and did some minor journaling and voila! I have a very cute two-page spread. It would be so easy to add to this template to create a complete scrapbook covering the entire year! I may just have to do that!

I'm a little late in sharing, but as the saying goes ... better late than never! My daughter is a Senior Girl Scout (9th and 10th grade girls) and last month was her month to lead the meeting, which included a craft. Of course, she asked me to help with a project. It had to be quick and easy as they were also doing their Secret Santa gift exchange and a White Elephant at their meeting. I also didn't want to have to get into any stamping since we were on limited time. We came up with this two-page 6x6 scrapbook spread for her and her troop sisters to do together at their meeting. Even the girls who dislike paper crafts *GASP* liked this project. Several of the girls kept telling their moms that they just HAD to have the Big Shot! I couldn't agree more :)

My Digital Studio to the Rescue!

My daughter had a Spanish project about what she did over her Thanksgiving holiday -- she had to create a scrapbook. We both thought it was due at the end of the week (even though she told me it was due on the 29th). I'm not sure what we were thinking! For some reason, at 8:10 p.m. I asked her to double check the due date and we figured out it was due tomorrow! She normally goes to bed at 9:00 and we have a very early morning tomorrow as we have to run in to town to do some business before she goes to school, so I told her to get on the computer muy pronto! She pulled up My Digital Studio and here's what she came up with in about an hour. It certainly would have taken her at least three times as long to create a paper scrapbook of the same quality! I sure hope her teacher likes it and she gets a good grade!

Now, I don't know any Spanish, so I'm not sure how accurate her journaling is, but I think it's pretty darn good scrapbooking for a 14 year old!

House Update and an MDS Layout

Our house is coming along nicely and we should be able to move in at the beginning of the year. We could probably push it a little earlier, but with the holidays coming I just don't want the hassle of trying to put a house together. This is the first home we've ever bought and to have it built from the ground up is an amazing opportunity! I can't wait to get in there and put my own touches on things!

Clean Out Your Craft Room Swap Card

Oh my goodness, it's been a long time since I last posted! Life has been some kind of crazy for us, still living in transition, but I somehow managed to make time to participate in a "Clean Out Your Craft Room" swap over at Splitcoaststampers. The idea was to use up some of your retired stuff ... make room for new goodies! I don't have much in the way of retired product with me as I only packed current stuff in our express shipment when we made our move back from Okinawa and the rest is in our household goods shipment, which I won't receive until we move into our house in January. The sad thing is that it's been sitting in a warehouse in San Antonio since September! So close, but still so far away! I was able to find a retired stamp set that I brought and some retired DSP, though, to complete my cards. Here's what I came up with.

Other than the coloring on the whale, I'm really pleased with how this card turned out. If I were to do it over, I would have definitely gone with water color paper rather than the Whisper White -- I just couldn't find mine when I was making my cards.

Thanks to everyone who has stuck around to see if I would ever resurface! I'm definitely not back to my regular posting schedule, but I sure hope there isn't as big a gap between this post and my next as there was between this one and my last!

More Swap Shares

I hope you aren't getting tired of my swap shares! This will be the last one for a little while. I participate in many demo swaps over at Splitcoaststampers and one of my favorite swap hostesses is Deb_t. She is always pleasant and punctual and has high standards for her swappers! Each year she typically hosts a CASE the Catalog swap where you pick a card from the catalog and recreate it for the swap. There are usually three categories - 3x3, full-sized A2 and 3D. I chose to do one of each. As I don't have all of my supplies with me, I had to tweak things a little, but I like how each of my cards turned out. I didn't get a chance to photograph the 3D items before they went in the mail, but I made the little treat boxes found on Page 59 of the Idea Book and Catalog.

UStamp Group Swap

Yesterday I shared my Friend to Friend Swap for UStamp with you. Today, I'm going to share my Group Swap. This is a very clean and simple card. It is extremely easy to reproduce! In fact, it took me less than half an hour to make all six of my cards!

I was running short on time and really needed a quick and simple card, so I headed over to Splitcoaststampers and took a look around. When I saw this card, I knew it was the one! So with a few minor changes, here's what I came up with.

Friend to Friend/Mojo 210

If you have spent any time visiting my blog in the past, then you probably know how much I LOVE to swap! One of the many fun things to do at UStamp with Dawn and Friends is participate in swaps. There are usually two per UStamp session. There is a Group Swap and a Friend to Friend Swap. For the Group Swap, you create six of the same card to be swapped out with six other stampers. For the Friend to Friend Swap, you create a card and a small 3D item to swap with the stamper our Swap Skipper pairs you up with. I'm hoping my swap partner has received her swap already, because I'm going to share it with you here!

The card was inspired by the Mojo 210 sketch over at Mojo Monday. If I'm ever in a pinch I go to my store of Mojo Monday sketches for inspiration.

I'm pretty happy with how the card turned out. Especially with my limited supplies on hand. I am finding it very difficult to do so many things!

I also made a cute little covered notepad to go along with the card.

I really hope my new friend likes her gifts!

I can't say enough about how much I love Stampin' Up! Their products are fantastic, they stay on trend and best of all, they LOVE their demonstrators and treat us great.

Before convention this year, Stampin' Up! had a promotion that every demonstrator who recruited during a certain month, whether just one new recruit or many, received something special at our annual convention. I was not able to go. In fact, I've never been able to go since we were overseas from the time I became a demonstrator until this past August. HOWEVER, Stampin' Up! felt the need to recognize ALL of us demonstrators who recruited and not just those fortunate enough to attend convention.

A few weeks ago, I got a Stampin' Up! package delivered from the UPS guy (YES! Now that I'm back in the states, I get visits from Mr. Brown!). I was very curious as I had not placed an order. I was, however, waiting for something that was ordered for my by another demonstrator, so I really didn't think anything of it. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found a Workshop in a Bag from Stampin' Up! This was what everyone who recruited received at convention.

I was so excited! There are three packages of make and takes, a package of Basic Jewel Rhinestones, a package of Baker's Twine, a very cool ribbon key chain and I think some Stampin' Dimensionals (those got away from me before I took the photo). I opened the make and takes right away and was all ready to start on them (I actually have the stamp set used) until I realized that I needed some of the punches that are sitting in a warehouse somewhere here in San Antonio until we move into our house in January! Boo!
