Quilted Tool Case

As I was browsing through Kerry Bogert's blog one day,

I stumbled upon her knitting needle case.

It was a birthday gift,
which was handmade by her friend, Lindsey.

I had been searching for a tool case for quite some time

and the minute I saw that knitting needle case,

I just fell in love with it!

So, I contacted Lindsey and asked if she could make
something similar for me to keep my pliers and cutter.

She said YES, and so begun our discussion over the tool case...

I picked the fabrics from Valori Wells' fabric line,
gave Lindsey the dimensions for all the pockets I need,
and this was a sketch she provided...

I must say, I really love the tool case she made for me.

It was very well made,

and she also surprised me with my name quilted on it!!! :)

Wire Jewelry Class

I'll be going back to Kuching for a short holiday soon, and

while I'm there, I'll be conducting a wire jewelry class...

Details of class are as follows ~

Venue: Kuching

Date: February 4, 2012 (Saturday)

Time:

8.00 am - 12.00 pm
1.00 pm – 5.00 pm

(pick your preferred session)

** Limited to only 3 participants per session **

Important basic techniques will be taught, and participants will

be bringing home the following jewelry upon completion of class.

Class Content:

Introduction to tools

Introduction to types, thickness and hardness of wire

Proper cutting method

Coiling

Making ear wires

Making wire wrapped bead and S links

Making a spiral clasp

Fees per person: RM150
(deposit of RM50 to confirm your place)

Inclusive of materials (wires & beads)

* Beads may not be the same as shown in photos *

Tools will be loaned to participants during class

The S-shaped coiled links were made from

Cindy Wimmer's project, which was published in the

Step by Step Wire Jewelry, Summer 2009 issue.

The whole piece had been oxidised and polished

to bring out the depth of tone.

She wanted something sweet but simple.

I came up with a few designs and showed them to her.

It's already September, and I haven't updated anything on my blog for more than 2 months!!! *sigh*

I did make a few jewelries recently, but I wasn't able to take any pictures cos my camera is not functioning. I'm still trying to save up for a new camera... So, for time being, I'll just publish a few posts about my trip to Tokyo and Seoul. Stay tuned, ya! ;)

Handmade Sterling Silver Lariat Necklace

Finally, I have a pic to share!!!

Well, actually I made this lariat a while back but
there were a few reasons why I couldn't snap pictures of it.
So, with Emi's help, here it is...

To embellish the lariat necklace,
Red Magma Swarovski navette and
various colours of Swarovski doughnuts were used,
and they hang beautifully from the chain.

As for the round frame;
it was shaped, soldered, hammered and textured, then oxidised.
For a two-toned look, everything else was left bright and shiny.

I love the design of Sensational Turquoise Necklace very much so,

I decided to make a similar piece with precious metal instead...

The upper portion of the pendant features a gorgeous
Brazilian Amethyst, a rich purple stone that is surrounded by
an inner circle of meticulously hand-wrapped fine silver.
This inner circle then expands to a larger circle that contains an
additional weave of fine silver and twelve sterling silver beads.
On the sides of the pendant, draped the finest
Smoky Quartz onion briolettes and Garnet rondelles.

Extending from these semi-precious stones are sterling silver links
that lead to a magnificently flawless
Citrine Hydrothermal Quartz briolette,
a brilliant stone with a warm and vibrant amber glow.

The whole piece had been oxidised and polished
to bring out the depth of tone.

Pendant measures
approximately 2.3" at its widest point and is 4.5" long.
Hangs from a 20" sterling silver chain.

Last Saturday, I met up with Emi Kaz to discuss about

A former classmate of mine ordered the

Coiled Wire Bangle and Woven Wire Cuff recently...

Similar to the one I made earlier,

except that the core wire for this one is thicker.

Still using the same focal bead as the one I used previously,
but this time the Woven Wire Cuff was constructed from
Permanent Coloured Copper Wire
(Brand: Artistic Wire, Colour: Natural Copper).

Hope my friend will love them as much as I do!
