QUETTA, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least four people were killed and 18 other wounded in a rocket attack in the western region of Pakistan, officials said Thursday.
Capital City Police Officer Dawood Junejo told Pakistan's Express Tribune that three rockets were fired from a mountainous region and landed in different parts of Quetta, Pakistan, causing a series of explosions. Libya News:NATO countries have agreed to enforce a no-fly zone in Libya “to protect civilians” against Muammar Gaddafi’s forces, Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen told reporters.He said the military alliance’s mandate did not go beyond the no-fly zone but NATO could also act in self-defence.He appeared to contradict an earlier statement by Ahmet Davutoglu, Turkey’s foreign minister, that NATO would take command of all coalition military operations in Libya.“At this moment, there will still be a coalition operation and a NATO operation,” Rasmussen said. “But we are considering whether NATO should take on that broader responsibility in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution, but that decision has not been made yet.”

Talks to unite both missions and transfer control of the broader campaign to NATO would continue through the weekend with a decision expected by Monday, NATO officials said.

Until then, the bombing campaign against Gaddafi’s tanks and artillery, which kicked off six days ago, will stay in the hands of the coalition led by the United States, Britain and France for the moment.

Rasmussen’s announcement followed days of negotiations and a breakthrough on Thursday when Turkey agreed to back the plan.Read more

Latest World News : YANGON, Myanmar -- Two strong earthquakes struck northeastern Myanmar less than a minute apart Thursday night. They could be felt as far away as Bangkok, but a tsunami was not generated.
The first 7.0-magnitude quake was just six miles (10 kilometers) deep, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was followed by another of the same strength but far deeper: 140 miles (230 kilometers).
The quakes struck along Myanmar's borders with Thailand and Laos, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) from the northern Thai city of Chiang Rai.

Buildings swayed in Bangkok, 500 miles (800 kilometers) south of the epicenter.

There has been no service for five days on any network in restive Helmand, where Afghan police and army are slated to take control of the capital, Lashkar Gah, from foreign forces in July, as the first step toward a full handover.

Latest world news: NEAR AJDABIYA: Libyan forces pounded rebel cities on Wednesday with tank fire forcing civilians to flee as a top British officer said Moamer Kadhafi's air force had been almost obliterated.As an armada of NATO warships patrolled Libya's coast to enforce an arms embargo against Kadhafi, fresh efforts to hand the alliance command of the military operations collapsed after days of sometimes acrimonious debate.A NATO diplomat said the 28-nation alliance would try again on Thursday to reach a decision on whether NATO should take charge of the operation launched on Saturday by Britain, France and the United States.But nations were already hailing the success of the air strikes, with British Air Vice Marshal Greg Bagwell saying Libya's air force has been almost totally obliterated and "no longer exists as a fighting force."
US officials are also openly speculating whether the continued pressure will force Kadhafi out of power after four decades in control.

At the end of a day of bitter fighting in key rebel strongholds, pro-Kadhafi forces pounded a hospital in the western city of Misrata, a rebel spokesman said.

Witnesses also reported a huge blast at a military base in the Tajura residential neighbourhood some 32 kilometres (20 miles) east of the capital, while anti-aircraft fire was heard as warplanes thundered over Tripoli.

The official news agency said coalition raids on Tajura killed "a large number" of civilians. (AFP)

War News: BEIJING, March 3: Pakistan and China are likely to soon adopt a plan in the energy sector under a bilateral framework agreement signed during President Gen Pervez Musharraf's visit to Beijing last week.The agreement includes development of nuclear-based energy resources. The cooperation will be in line with the Chinese support which is being already extended to Pakistan to develop the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP).Sources said on Friday that Pakistan and China would hold a high-level forum in Islamabad shortly to work out a strategy of cooperation in the energy sector. The strategy will be implemented in the next five years.

The proposal of holding the forum was made by President Musharraf during official-level talks with his Chinese counterpart.

Latest Pakistan Breaking News: Three Pakistan Army officials, including a brigadier and a major, were killed and two others sustained serious injuries in a military gunship chopper (Cobra) crash and an ambush on a rescue team that was proceeding towards the Tirah Valley in the troubled Khyber Agency to recover bodies and wreckage of the helicopter. Libya War News: Start.....TRIPOLI: A U.N.-backed coalition is increasing its efforts to expand a no-fly zone over Libya and halt attacks on civilians by troops loyal to Moammar Gadhafi. Robert Raffaele has the details.

Anti-aircraft fire rings out over the capital, Tripoli, as forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi try to ward off coalition airstrikes.

But there is no let up in the U.N.-backed mission, with British, French, U.S. and Dutch warplanes taking off from Italian soil, and plans in place to expand the coalition to 13 nations. The aim is to control the airspace across northern Libya. Left unclear - who will take charge after the U.S military relinquishes operational control.
