I started building a ret set, then I was like I realllllly want to heal! So my husband helped me build a holy set. I got some gold from my sister in law to dual spec so I am set. I got a decent starter set and about 1500ish plus healing.

The armory is not updated yet... but this is my character:
http://us.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Baelgun&n=nolara

I went into heroic nexus with my pathetic ret set and pretty much sucked .. pretty bad. I did get a holy belt out of it .. and a ret purple belt .. so hopefully that will get me to suck less. I helped some guildies out and healed them while they did some harder quests...that went ok. So yeah i'm pretty excited to try out holy spec, i've been dps on my warlock for a long time.....so its fun to do something different. I might suck as healer, but I don't know till I try...right?

End is near!

I finally got my guys past Dragonblight and Grizzly Hills, now leveling seems to pick up speed. I took my Pally and Shammy through Basin and got them past 77 so I have two flyers! and broke! and then took Pally to Storm Peaks, I will be doing the Hodiur quest line with her. My shammy is leveling in zuldrak. I may bring the pally over and dual box, but since I've already started in the shammy, I am not sure it would be worth the catching the pally up to the quest line.

Nolara - 79 and 1/2 !!!!!!!
Spec: ret
She has a couple pieces of epic gear at moment. She is engineer, so she has the goggles and my warlock made the JC ring. I am working on getting a few more dragon eyes to do the neck and the set for my shammy.

Lisanna - 77 and 1/4 !!!!!
Spec: resto / elemental
Haven't figured out gear for her yet.. I was enhancement from 72-77 ... it was fun, i had gotten a few blue daggers and gear from Nexus and UK while being a fill in healer for my guild.

I am not sure when i will get to 80 with my Pally. I had to work last night. I'll see how today goes, maybe it will be tonight!

All Things Must Come to an End

A few of the podcasts I listen to are ending..

Elunes Grace
Epic Dolls

They were fun to listen to and I learned alot...and was entertained while on my long commute to work.

Some of my favorite podcasts that still are around:

The Instance - Scott and Randy just seem like the kinda guys it'd be fun to go out and have a beer with! They are funny! And they talk about pertinent news items from the game and just not reading the patch notes!

Outlandish Podcast - These guys used to talk more about raiding, but now they don't seem to be doing so much of that. They have some bad language but I think its funny. They tend to go off on tangents and "blah blah blah" but I still like it.

Casually Hardcore - This is pretty fun, a couple couples who play together (like me and my husband) and play as life allows, so they aren't talking hard core raiding, but casual instances, news, stories etc.

Those three are my favories, I have a few others from WC Radio. I am going to be checking out a few more. I hear Rawr cast Is good, gonna checkout. Maybe also check on twistednether again, i listed to it when it started but seemed to have the same content as the other shows

Leveling up the lowbies!

I was kinda bored a few weeks ago and I saw my warrior sitting there at a few bubbles from 29. Why not level to 30??? get the mount.. at least... and see if I wanted to play her again. It was kinda fun! I took her to ashenvale since I was tired of eastern kingdoms content. Pretty good some of those areas I've never done on alliance. I got her to 30 then high tailed to exodar for my elephant! wheee ... its so much easier with a mount!

Then, I keep hearing from a guy at work how much fun a mage is. My mage is 22, and got there fitfully bubble by bubble with many deaths. Ok, he said you need lots of health pots. I went and gathered herbs and made like 8 stacks of health pots. I start questing in lakeshire, died a few times but with patience....i was able to get up to level 26 in a few hours. I started out my mage as frost, cuz I read its the "best" leveling spec. I switched to fire later in my 20s. Then when we had a talent point reset last fall, I decided to spec arcane - why not try it? After playing arcane for 4 levels and talking to some high level mages in my guild, I think I am going back to frost.

My Pally is plugging away, at 75.5 ... looking forward to going to the basin. zul drak or whatever is tooooo dark and depressing!!! I think I can hit the basin at 76 ? I managed to get the achivement for quests in dragonblight...boy that is alot of quests, but soon as I got the achivement, I was outta there! It really speeds the leveling to have gone through the quests on my main, now I know right where the quests.

My Shammy hit 73. Lately, I've been the last attempt healer for some things. I am spec elemental but I can heal pretty good still. I want to try enhancement, since I have some of that gear (many blues from instance runs where nobody wanted and I also DE) but I haven't taken time to figure out the spec. I hardly quested as 73, just healed instances. I wonder if i can make it to 80 by just healing instances? :)

My Warlock finally hit exalted with kirin tor. Finally. I found a bunch of quests in dragonblight that gave rep and did that cooking daily every day! I think I have over 60 cooking tokens. I guess I should go ahead and get the fish recipes. I have all the meat recipes and do the fish recipes on my hunter (she fishes). But if I have so many tokens... Eh. I'll wait. Maybe I'll need lots of spices. Working the rep for hodiur now... what a pain, so boring! I have half the bar to go to get to revered I think (or whatever you need for the best sholder enchants)

My Hunter is still at 70. I finally got the alchemy specialization. I didn't want to both with quests for flasks or potions so I did the transmute and I'll pay 150 gold to switch when she gets high enough to get enough herbs to make flaskes. SO I've been doing lot of transmuting and have a nice collection of eternals. I get alot of earth from hodiur dailies and then hunter makes them into air or fire.

My shadow priest is 46, been leveling with a buddy at work with refer a friend. Its pretty fun. Most of my time when my friend is on, is spent leveling with him.

I haven't played my horde characters in a month. I was trying to find a new server for my druid who is 56, my friend I moved to play with has quit playing. I was thinking of moving my warlock who is 28 to PVP server but I haven't done that yet. Still trying to decide what to do with those toons.

Dual Specs will break the game!

Choosing and building a spec primarily for hybrids is a kind of art, finding the right combination of skills, enchants, glyphs.. doing dual specs will break the game I think and here's why:

random thoughts:

make people more lazy because they will not want to devote to building the spec, they will just be looking for the "cookie cutter" spec someone else thought of

they will not know how to play the other spec very well as their main spec

gear distribution will be take longer and more people are going to want the same gear

it will make building a party harder. I have RL friend on TB and I wanted to play with his higher levels. I also made a DK there, so now I have a 58 and 55. I didn't have many people around my level on Perenolde to play with, so both reasons were contributions to my decision. I still have Elannia my 26 warlock on Perenolde I can play, so I can still talk to my friends there! So its all good!

On Baelgun I have been slowing getting my Pally and Shammy up, my multiboxers. They are about 5-6 bubbles from getting to 73. Seems to be going so slow! I've actually done some instances with my shammy doing healing/dps and its been pretty fun. In Old Kingdom I was top of the DPS charts and was thinking oook lets forget the warlock!! shammy is it!! hehe ... that was, until a 80 hunter came in to help us finsish it up...then he quickly became top of DPS.

My baelgun warlock... its been a struggle to get her DPS up. I speced into affliction about level 76 because i was bored and it turned out to be pretty fun. With all the health I got back it was pretty good for soloing! I read and talked to other affliction warlocks and got my rotation (which really is just an initatl rotation, after that you just refresh DOTs) figured out.. but I was still a bit low on DPS in 25-man raids, like 1500.

I respec to hybrid Demon/Demo last weekend and haven't done any raids yet, but on dummies with just my felarmor and haste food, i was getting 1700 dps!! I am anxious to try it this weekend and see how it does. I am really counting on my imp firepower and need to put the imp glyph on (haven't yet).

I got the heirloom sholders for my baelgun Drooooood. Looks pretty cool! He is level 41 :)

Ding 80!!!

My warlock dinged 80 last night, so happy. I had the headless horsemans mount and it scales with the level, so its really fast now! Cool, so much better than the regular flyer. I've been selling the dragonseye gems and its been adding up fast. I think I'll save up another 5k and secretly transfer to my husbands account and buy the skill for him..since he will never do it himself. Then tell him! hee hee hee

I was racing a friend to 80 ...and he hit 80.. so.. lost the bet.. dang!! Thursday I couldn't level too much since we were doing Hyjal and not too much XP .. and then Friday I had problems since I am a comcast user..doh! oh well... its was fun to have a challenge anyways. :)

Profession Reorganization

Well I recently decided I do not plan for the forseeable future to level my rogue, warrior and mage. I just don't find them classes fun or they are too hard. So my rogue was my only leatherworker, warrior was my only blacksmith, and mage was enchanting and inscription. So time to reorganize!

I got out my spreadsheet. I want my druid to be skinning and herbalism, since they can do that in form and its super cool. I saw I had 3 alchemists, which I thought would be cool. Then I could specialize each of them in the 3 specializations. I had it on my hunter, which was close to 400 on both, my shammy was about 370 on both, and my priest was about 100 on both. Hmm what to do.

I abandoned the idea of 3 alchemists and changed the shammy to enchanting/inscription. My druid gathers herbs for her. My priest is going to be skinning (for now, just to make some money) and tailoring so I can make her BOP stuff. My deathkaniggit is going to do blacksmithing. When I get my druid up to max level or at least max herbalism, I will change the herbalism on my hunter to leatherworking.

So that makes it:

hunter - herbalism (eventually leatherworking), Alchemy
pally - mining, engineering
dk - mining, blacksmithing
lock - tailoring, jewelcrafting
drood - herb, skin
priest - tailoring, skin
shammy - enchanting, inscription

Then I'll have one of each!

Whew.. what a bunch of work :)

I win!!

Hunter - 70
Shammy - 71
Pally - 70
Warlock -75

Doh.. if it was burning crusade, I would have said I win getting 4 guys to 70. Now, the daunting climb to 80.

I was multiboxing the shammy and warlock and it seemed to be taking too long. So I left the Shammy and solo the Warlock and got her up higher. I was bored with the game last weekend and some of this. SO. Whats the cure for boredom?

More alts!

I started some ally toons with some friends on another server. So we have no sugar daddy, no tailor that can make bags... but.. hey its fun. I started a couple toons. A dwarf priest and got her to level 6 I think. Also did a warlock to 8. I am going to make the warlock tailor and skinning. Not sure yet on the priest. Maybe herb and alchemy. I also made a pally but only got her to 3. I might transfer my drood over and if the guild there works out, maybe my pally.

I have always said I wanted to get one of each class to 80. But as I've tried to play my warrior, rogue and mage the past few weeks.. I just don't like them. So far, Drood and Warlock are my favorites. Pally, Shammy and Priest are also fun for me. So maybe I won't ever get all to 80, but maybe one of each of the classes I like best.

In Northrend, I've been doing the cooking dailies on my warlock and my hunter, as well as the JC daily. They are pretty fun. I got the chocolate cake recipe on my hunter! I already had it on the warlock. I only did cooking dailies a few times in Outland. My hunter was not yet 70 and my cooking was only leveled up a week before the expansion.

69 and a half

Well, I've been playing my pairs of toons and my warlock hit 71 (whoopie, most of the ppl in my guild are 74+ by now!) and my 68s got to 69.5 ... Its no longer THAT exciting to hit 70 now. I probably won't go to the Isle to do dailies, nothing there from rep is worth much right now. I'll have to find all the dailies in Northrend.

I used my lock, second account, my husabands account and a guildie to summon all my alts and husbands alts to dalaran. I had some still harthed in shatt ... some where they were questing, and it was just a pain! I still have my pally to summon (same account as warlock).

I did my first cooking daily in Dalaran, had to get some carrots and make some stew. Yay, 1 cooking award.

My hunter and shammy are both herb and alchemist. I will be able to specialize them now in either potions, flasks/elixers or transmutes. What to choose? I also have a level 13 priest that is doing alchemy so I will potentially have one of each (someday). But which ones? Also I learned yesterday if I didn't want to do the quest lines for those, I could choose the transmutes one then pay 10 gold to "re-learn" the one I really want. Hmm, depending on the price of primals or might on the AH, that *might* be pretty cheap and easier. Not sure if I can get a group to do Black Morass or Botanica.

Looking forward to the weekend, not too much going on and I have wednesday (tomorrow) off work ... surely I can hit 70 on my hunter, shammy and pally! w00t!

Ding, Ding, Ding!

I've been multiboxing a pair of characters, a shammy and pally up to level 68! I used the refer a friend up to 60 and have been going steady ever since. I also got my hunter, who was my first character up to 68 last night! I started the warlock to play solo and that ended up being my main.

Horray!!

Now I can level the hunter/pally and lock/shammy together! I had already started doing the lock at midnight of release and did Utgard Keep a few times...so I am almost 71. I'll start the lock/shammy in Fjord and hunter/pally in the Tundra. Now I can experience both zones! Its pretty nice having multiboxers, like last night I was finishing a few quests in Nagrand and I had to kill banthar, gutripper and the other guy. I tried to solo on my hunter, but it wasn't working. So I brought my lock and died 1 time on each one, then I took them down on the second try.

I am also leveling the last few points of first aid on my 4 characters, the pally has a few points to go. I had enough cloth stashed away, except I needed like 7-8 stacks of magewave, and a couple runecloth. So they will be ready for Northrend first aid!

It's HERE!

Expansion is here! Sooooooo exciting....

Made a pot of coffee about 8pm and waited till 11.30 to leave for Gamestop. We didn't know so many people in my small town played warcraft! There was a line out the door at the Best Buy. We went to a GameStop in a mall, so at least we didn't need to wait in the cold. I was 56th in line, we paided and got the receipt and then at midnight, we filed in an orderly fashion to pick up the box. We were out of there by 12.20a.

First thing I did was get on my tiny warlock and headed to Iron Forge and flew to Menithel (always forget how to spell) and wait on dock for my husband to get his game installed (my mac installed faster :P). He got there in time for the boat to Fjord and we took the ride together, standing on the front of the boat /cheer ing with the rest of the players. What a pretty ride!

My husband and I did about 4 bubbles of XP. Then he was getting his other chracters there to get their professions leveled and I started my deathknight! or as my husband (and BRK) said "Death-ka-niggit" haha! ... its cool. I made a female dranaei and got a half a level before going to sleep. I feel sort of bad about killing helpless people..but.. umm. we'll see how it goes. It took me awhile to figure out what to do at first. Helps to read the quest I guess.

My collectors edition arrived thursday via FedEx. I put it on my second account. The pet is bind on account, so even if I make new characters on that account, they get the pet (I tried it). So that is kinda interesting. I haven't watched the DVD or listened to the soundtrack yet! Maybe tonight.

I want to write a mod!

Yes... but you can only work on it while server is UP. <sigh> Guess just before expansion is not a good time to start writing a mod.

I have this huge book "World of Warcaft Programming by James Whitehead, Bryan McLemore, Matthew Orlando. I got it awhile back and read at it .. but its so big! Recently I've been shoving it into my bag to take to work and reading on the train.

I want to write a simple suicidekings mod. Its a basic method of distributing loot. You have a list of people, when a piece of loot drops the first person on the list (who can use it!) is given the option to take it. If they take itl their name goes to the bottom and those who are in the party have their name move up! If you are not in the party, your name does not move. So it encourages participation even if your name is not at the top.

There are a few mods for this, but they are all broken and pretty complex. I want to make a pretty simple one and sort of "manual" meaning the LootMaster will have the control. Others will basically get a "read only" view of the list. Only guild members will be in this list.

Lootmaster will be able to:
-- generate a list of users from the guild in the party, this will be a one-time setup
-- suicide someone to give them the loot

Party members will be able to:
-- see the list

Example

1. Bob
2. Mary
3. George
4. Paul
5. Sally

A piece of loot drops, its for mages. Bob is a warrior. So it goes to Mary, she wants it and its given to her. Paul is not in the group. Here's what it looks like:

1. Bob
2. George
3. Sally
4. Paul
5. Mary

Seems pretty basic huh? Can't work on it though if servers are down. :(
</sigh>

My alliance characters

I love to play alot of characters in Warcraft, here's a rundown of my alliance toons:

Marak - 70 warlock
tailor, jewelcrafting

Kadar - 66 hunter
alchemy, herbing

Nolara - 64 pally
mining, engineering

Lisanna - 64 shammy
alchemy, herbing

Moonden - 37 drood
skinning, herbing

Milta - 28 warrior
blacksmithing, mining

Dandresa - 22 mage
enchanting, inscription

Amberen - 18 rogue
leatherworking, skinning

Sarath - 13 priest
alchemy, herbing (might change herb to tailor for BOP items)
