September 16 to be public holiday

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has declared that Malaysia Day which falls on Sept 16 annually will be a national public holiday from next year.

He told Dewan Rakyat today that the formation of Malaysia as an independent and sovereign country was an important chapter in the nation's history.

Malaysia Day is celebrated annually on Sept 16 to remind of the formation of the federation of Malaysia following the inclusion of Sabah and Sarawak in 1963.

Siti Nordiana, Faizal divorced

Singer, Siti Nordiana Alias or Nana no longer live with her husband, Mohd. Faizal Yusop since last month.

Nana, 25, also revealed that she has been divorced but it will only be filed at the Syariah Lower Court, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, next Monday.

According to her, Mohd. Faizal, 31, divorce her through phone calls twice on two different dates last month.

Government announced a special financial assistance payment of RM500 to civil servants support groups to help them face Aidilfitri and schooling sessions to come.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the payment is made twice before the RM250 Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the remainder in December.

According to Najib, special financial assistance that take advantage of 860.000 civil servants involved in the group spending RM430 million..

Proton EXORA

Proton Exora marks the latest achievement of the National Industrial Automotive Ltd. (Proton) in automotive industry with the production of multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

There are two variants, both using the automatic transmission of M-Line (RM69, 998) and H-Line (RM75, 998).

Exora using Campro CPS engine 4 cylinder, DOHC 16-valve 1.6-liter is capable of generating 125 horsepower at 6.500 revolution per minute (rpm) and torque 150 Newton meters at 4.500 rpm.

It can reach a maximum speed of 165 km per hour even test drive automotive writers confirm it can be pressed to 170 km / h at the Genting Sempah. Tank full MPV is 55 liters.

Malaysia's first submarine

History was created with the arrival of the first submarine Royal Malaysian Navy, KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, at the base KD Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, on Pulau Indah in Port Klang today.

Arrival greeted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin who accompanied Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah as the President of Navy Captain, Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Minister Defense Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

KD TAR, which is operated by 32 officers and members led by Commanding Officer Commander Zulhelmey Ithnain.

New Price for Ron 95 and Ron 97

New fuel price of Ron 95 and Ron 97 from Tuesday

The newly introduced RON 95 fuel is available for RM1.80 - RM1.75 five sen higher than the previous one. Meanwhile RON is maintained 97 as a premium product and has rise RM2.05 from RM1.80 beginning 1 September 2009.

Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the new prices were decided based on the current method of Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).

Ismail said the upward revision of the prices was necessary as the global crude oil price had doubled since the announcement by former minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad in March that RON95 would be sold at RM1.75.
