It goes without saying that physical environments play an important role in influencing children’s happiness. Warringah Plastics recently made a beautiful fit to come to life at the new ToBeMe Childcare Center, Burberry by providing an intricate, custom made acoustic panel for use in their carefully curated indoor play space.

Acoustic Panels are a breakthrough new material produced from recycled PET. They possess excellent sound absorption qualities which make them great for controlling noises in large open spaces. Warringah Plastics has been successful in this area.

As you can see, the use of the panelling in this environment really helps to define the space within the centre and can even be used as amazing looking pin boards. Using natural shapes and forms, the material can be applied across a wide range of spaces, including commercial office fitouts, retail spaces, hotels, cafes and restaurants.

INNOVATION IN THE CAFE

‘The Juggler’ is the new benchmark for cafe milk dispensing, designed for cafes & developed right here in Sydney. Developed by Six Simple Machines (SSM), the Juggler system has revolutionised the café industry by speeding up service and reducing waste. By detecting jug sizes and dispensing programmable doses of milk from bladders stored in fridge below the counter, this system has saved a staggering 1,291,432 milk bottles to date – and counting!

Warringah Plastics (WP) were approached by SSM to see if vacuum forming would be a good process to produce the trays that support the bladders in the fridge.
The stainless steel version being used was working well but the move to Polyethylene further enhanced the user experience of the system by eliminating the sharp corners/edges and also increased the durability of the trays. WP worked with SSM by providing feedback on the proposed design, and by ensuring that maximum opportunities of vacuu forming were being realised. This has resulted in the final product providing value and longevity to Juggler System users.

The final product is a colour matched red Polyethylene moulded and CNC trimmed tray produced here at our factory in Brookvale. The nestable tray features a moulded logo and a unique cut-out that secures the bladder nozzle when loadin the fridge.

This is just one of WP’s successful metal and fiberglass to plastic conversions over the past 45 years. We always strive to achieve the best results for our clients by utilising the accumulated experience of the company, and our team of qualified industrial designers.

IT’S A GAME CHANGER!

Not Often new technology does come up That revolutionises the way things are done, but here’s One That probably affects you if you’ve thermoformed with us ….
We can now digital print & Then vacuum form , Allowing us to Produce your shares with any color gold graphics you desire!

Previously you had to print at a low resolution of 40dpi, but now we can go high resolution!

With previous methods you had to do high volume due to setup costs, but now there are virtually none! This means it’s quicker to make, more cost effective & higher quality.
This new technology means that it is now possible for us to print Point of Sale stand graphics over a heat bend and to an edge, whereas we previously we had to avoid the bends.


Print had to avoid any bend line.	Print can now cross bends & edges!

This is an exciting new technology that will now allow for creativity that even we can’t imagine!
We are excited and cant wait to work with our customers to produce designs that will take advantage of this new breakthrough.

Warringah Plastics teamed with Out Of Home advertising specialists oOh!media to produce a large scale model suitcase for leading luggage brand Samsonite which were placed in the most exclusive and busiest shopping centres and airports around the country.

To promote the launch of their new Lite-Shock range, we were entrusted with the responsibility of replicating the exquisite design details that Samsonite cases are renowned for. Right down to the Petrol Blue weave pattern on the surface, no detail was spared. Click here to see the Samsonite Lite-Shock demonstration video.

There were a number of important design considerations for this project, most critically that the case must be light and strong, just like the Samsonite Lite-Shock case itself. Luckily our plastic thermoforming process is the same method used to create the actual suitcase so we were off to a good start. The key feature of thermoforming that allows such strong and light parts to be produced is its ability to produce extremely strong thin wall sections. This allows flexing under load unlike comparable materials such as composites and alloys.

Traditionally, marketing teams had the challenge of making their products jump off the page to gain the attention of potential customers, but now it seems the challenge is to make them jump off the screen.

This is where the oversize replica really comes into play. Nothing grabs a shopper’s attention and makes them look twice like the unexpected presence of a real life jumbo sized product.

You probably wouldn’t know it, but one of the loveliest buildings in Sydney, the historic Queen Victoria Building is naturally ventilated and illuminated.
Next time you wander through this amazing space, take the time to look up and discover the clear vacuum formed panels Warringah Plastics produce for Airocle http://www.airocle.com.au/, a 90 year old company leading the way in the design of natural ventilation systems.

The panels are produced in clear acrylic on our large vacuum former, which can produce parts from sheets of plastic up to an enormous 3.3m x 2.5m in size. Acrylic is a great material to incorporate in your next design because it:

Redshift hits a top score with Warringah Plastics

Even in this age of iPads and iPhones, the pinball machine is as fun to play as ever! Here at Warringah Plastics, we love the lights, the sounds, and the skill involved in keeping that silver ball scoring.

That’s lucky because we have recently been involved from start to finish for an amazing project in the amusement machine industry.

redshiftLED are a Sydney based business that are leaders in pinball machine modifications and upgrades from controllable lighting kits, components and plastic parts. redshiftLED engaged Warringah Plastics to design, prototype and manufacture custom “aprons” which can be retrofitted to existing pinball machines.

The skilful product designers at Warringah Plastics designed the prototype in 3D on Solidworks in a way that allowed it to be flattened to a 2D shape. This shape could then be nested and cut on our 6m x 1.8m flatbed router, and then heat bent with precision into the final shape.

This was a great project to showcase the wide array of material finishes available from Warringah Plastics, from red tint acrylic to chrome finish ABS.

When a shipping container lands in a new country with imported goods, it often needs fumigating.
Nordiko Quarantine Systems allows this to happen on the dock, and in collaboration with Warringah Plastics, produces a solution that allows fumigant to be captured from multiple containers simultaneously.

Nordiko’s patented technology includes high capacity IBC carbon filters, and lightweight but tough and durable plastic consoles. These safely capture fumigant gases, preventing emissions to the workplace and surrounding communities.

OUTSIDE-IN – Sculpture by the Sea

Warringah Plastics have been involved in the manufacture of 3 custom designed sculptures ‘OUTSIDE-IN’ for this year’s Sculpture by the Sea. This prominent sculpture exhibition returns to the popular Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach coastal walk. The walk is 2km long and showcases over 100 sculptures from both Australia and international contemporary artists.

The sculpture was developed as a concept, loosely based on a periscope by architecture firm Office Feuerman – a design office based in Sydney and New York. The sculpture entices the audience to participate and engage with the mirrored interior through the clear acrylic viewing holes. These holes allow the viewer to look down a distorted path which leads to a kaleidoscope effect on the scenery, bringing the outside, in.

There are 3 sculptures that have been made and installed at 3 locations along the path.

One located on the south part of Tamarama Beach
One located on the south part of Marks Park (on top of the headland)
One located between the other two, overlooking Mackenzies bay at Gaerloch Reserve

The manufacturing of these sculpture’s proved challenging – especially getting the mirror inside the aluminium hollow section. However our skilled fabrication team were at the ready to deliver a functional, high quality product.

Assembly Ready Parts

Using cutting edge fasteners we can produce parts that are ready for assembly as shown in this video. Using our CNC trimming machine we can accurately cut holes all over the component to facilitate the assembly of different components. Then using quick action fasteners whole assemblies can come alive.

SHINING UP THE PROMENADE

Warringah Plastics added to the shine in Martin Place this year, through the manufacture of custom designed mirror banners.

The city streets will be aglow with lights and decorations of all colours including dramatic digital projections that will illuminate Sydney Town Hall. The display is developed through a joint initiative between the City of Sydney and Office Feuerman – a design office based in Sydney and New York. The Street Light Disco banners are lined up on poles along Martin Place, shimmering and reflecting the lights among the plaza’s historic architecture.

The banners have a disco light effect that will inspire visitors to get into the festive season. So why not take your loved ones out to see the mirror banners and the number of other great sights in the city including the Martin Place Christmas Tree, Christmas Light Forest at Pitt Street Mall and the Christmas Projections on George Street. This will all be on display up until Christmas Day so don’t miss it!
