Howdy folks. I've just spent a beautiful 3 weeks in sunny Australia swimming in oceans and bushwalking through forests. Pretty special. And now, back to action! 2012 is a remarkable year already. I'm so excited. Are you?

About to do: 3rd time in a row, my band and I will perform at NAMM again this Saturday January 21. This has to be one of the world's premier music conferences and we have prime spot!

Getting ready for some time out down-under but not before I tell you a few awesome things that have happened and are about to happen in 2012. Let's jump right in...

So, what have I been up to? Well in a nut shell - song writing, speaking at the Taxi Road Rally and Musicians Institute to artists about gettin' in the biz and becoming artist entrepreneurs; helped m hubby J.Walker launch his fabulous new album (details below). We had a sell out concert at The Mint in LA on Nov 29 and also celebrated the Songsalive! Holiday party with 14 hot songwriters. What a night it was. Review below.

I've made a silly short film too, with my arch nemesis Fleur Flem and introducing to the world, new character Tina Tickleopolis. Scroll down to watch the Thanksgiving Flik and get ready to giggle!

Oh my gosh, I found out that my single, "I'm Alive" from "the stillness" album claimed Number #1 slot on Music Research. This is where they survey thousands of people on songs (normally on behalf of Labels) to test the songs for hit value. Wow! Now, I may not be #1 on that radio station you keep hearing, nor #1 album at the Grammys, but let me tell you that being # 1 on Music Research is AMAZING as it defines what people want to hear by the taste makers. This is BIG in Music Industry standards.... More on that below!

About to do: Just got confirmed to perform at NAMM again on January 21. This has to be one of the world's premier music conferences and we have prime spot! And on Dec 14 (next Wednesday) I will be in Orange County again for a show so, friends and fans, come on out! See below.

PERFORMER MAGAZINE: The Genghis Cohen got a taste of “the thunder from down under,” when Australian musician gilli moon performed this past Thursday night. Moon has lived in Los Angeles for the past 10 years and continues to produce albums that speak volumes to her audience. She has total of six records under her belt and sang a number of selections from her catalog. She also performed some great hits from her most recent release, The Stillness.

Moon’s passion for not only her own music, but music in general, was obvious as she performed with a sense of joy and confidence. Snaps and claps filled the venue, coming from both the audience and Moon herself. Moon’s songs were relatable to every woman in the crowd, as she sang from the heart about the pain of heartbreak and the struggle to find yourself during chaotic times.

Moon began the set with songs off her previous albums. Those tracks were filled with honest messages of struggle and self-doubt. She took the stage, headed over to her piano and belted out “Release Me,” from her 2005 release, Extraordinary Life. Like a self-therapy session, she seemed to calm herself and embrace the struggle as she delivered music from The Stillness. The central message of the album is the need for inner peace within oneself and to learn from past mistakes.

It was as though the crowd was watching Moon morph from a girl into a woman right before their eyes. The tracks seem to solve all the immature, but normal problems that a girl faces during the journey of self-discovery. Her music makes us realize that the answers to our struggles can’t be found in others, but within ourselves.

Today's blog: Giving Thanks

We seldom give thanks, really. We shuffle through our days, our weeks and months in the act of doing. Rarely do we take time to stop and smell the roses, and give thanks except for the one Holiday a year, Thanksgiving. But we shouldn't have to wait for that day to be thankful. Every day can be filled with thanks.

Not only should we thank others, but we should thank ourselves. We should take stock of who we are and who we've become and celebrate our victories, even the small ones. Appreciation of where we've come, along the long path of self-discovery, is so important.

It's easy to give thanks, once we understand how easy it is. It can be for 1 minute a day. Hug yourself, look up to the heavens and say, "thank you universe for giving me permission to be who I want to be, and discover new things, today. Thank you for my growth, and my own self-awareness. Thank you for all the little miracles that add up to one big whole awesome ride, called life."

Whether you believe in God, or Mother Nature, or the Universe, or none of it, there is every reason to give thanks. Start today, with just a minute, to show your gratitude of YOU, the awesome being that you are.

Now, that I've taken that moment, feeling warm and fuzzy and wonderful as a human being, I want to give thanks to everyone around me. On a personal note, I feel a great sense of achievement today. Fourteen years ago today I moved to the United States from Australia to pursue my dreams as a music recording artist. Since that day I have released 6 albums, on my own label I created; built a worldwide non-profit songwriters organization, Songsalive!; written and published 2 books; toured the States 3 times and all across Europe; and found the man of my dreams and married him.
I am very thankful of the blessings in my life, and the successes that have come to me and that I have created. I am living my dream.

I couldn't have achieved any of that without people. There have been numerous angels in my corner to support and nurture my growth and path and I thank each and every one of them for their guidance and opportunities. I hope I have also assisted their dreams too, even a little bit, for this life is all about the give and the give.

Most of all, I couldn't have achieved any of that without my own sense of purpose, inner confidence and trust that it will all be ok. And it is.

Thank you world.

An Amazing Night of Music, Food, Prizes, and Awards at the Songsalive!/Songnet Holiday Party

Tues Nov 29 @ The Mint: A packed house of 150. 14 Songsalive! songwriters performed on this incredible night. Stellar performances by J.Walker (great album launch first set) with gilli moon (host and performer, The Conlons (Annette Conlon was honored with the 2011 Songsalive! Songwriter of the Year Award) Suzy Husner, Kaye Reznick, Thomas Hornig, Rosie Tate (also awesome as merch girl) Jimi Yamagishi (also our co-sponsor with Songnet and donated the Guitar for the Raffle), Mike V (excellent stage management also), Damon Rosario, Rebecca Sullivan, Kathleen Blackwell, Stephen GC and Amanda Abizaid. WOW! The Mint was packed, the food was great, the music was top notch. Our Songsalive! Team (Dave, Mike, Rosie, Monique, Ann, Jimi, Rodney) were humming like a well oiled machine. Rodney received the Team recognition award for the year for his great service running the OC Chapter. I particularly was impressed with Rosie and Monique as the merch girls in their red holiday outfits. 3 Raffle prizes worth $1217 went to 3 lucky people, costume prize to Rosie Tate, and at midnight we pulled down the decorations and hugged as a job well done. G'day peaceful warriors, gilli moon here.

Wow, time flies when you're having fun. We've been pretty busy here over at Warrior Girl Music, putting some finishing touches to some new products coming out, and some cool, cool events coming up. You haven't heard from me since August, and already we've jumped out of summer and into fall. I hope you missed me!

So, what have I been up to? Well in a nut shell - song writing, music recording, performing, artist workshops, art designing, and event promoting. Oh, just a few things... I just finished designing the new cover of the Indiebible, a fabulous resource for musicians to get their songs heard. I've been designing the cover for several years. It will be released in December. You can see the last cover here. I choose artists for the cover from our Pro Members at Songsalive! which helps our non-profit songwriters organization as well. I also had an Artistalive! Fall Retreat in September, at our LA base, and we had an intimate circle of artists who came for the weekend to go deep on discovering who they are and how they want to promote themselves. I also spoke at the Musicians Instituate, Hollywood. That was a real treat. Our Workshops are listed here and if you're interested in one-on-one artist career coaching, check out our Warrior Artist Coaching website.

Speaking of workshops, I'll be talking at the Taxi Road Rally this Saturday at 2.30pm with my Driver's Ed course: Just Get Out There - Step by Step Workshop for Artists and Musicians to Achieve Success and Self-Empowerment as a Warrior Artist. If you're interested in attending you need to be a Taxi member and attending the conference. Details at www.taxi.com. I'll also be around with my Books in the Book Room, and offering one-on-one consults all weekend Fri-Sun.

What's really cool, is I have been recording an album with J.Walker, lending my voice, keys, and some producing skills, to his new record, plus designing the cover - and oh how COOL it will be: J.Walker's new album, "Ambitions of a Writer" is to be released on Tuesday November 29 @ The Mint, LA. I'll be performing, as well. It should be great night. Details below. Immediately following his launch (which is early in the night) is our Songsalive! Holiday Party, with a bunch of original songwriters performing, raffle prizes, best costume contest, and Santa may even turn up!

Today's blog: What's Money Got To Do With It

Today I coached one of my favorite Artist Clients (we work together every month on her music career goals), and the subject of money came up. It came about after she did my Circle of Personal Perspective Exercise (you can find that in my book, Just Get Out There), whereby she perceived her professional goals at a 4 out of 10, less than half. I asked her why she put such a low number, especially after all the work she has been doing in fulfilling her dreams and working on her goals. She replied that it was because even though she has been doing a lot, she isn't making any money from it, and so therefore didn't value her progress. I reminded her about the chapter I have in my book Just Get Out There, as well as the whole ethos about being a professional artist, in my first book I AM A Professional Artist. Simply put, I have come to the conclusion from my writings and interviewing other artists, and also how I live my life as an artist, that being a Professional Artist does not mean you have to be making money from your Art. It's a hard pill to swallow even in our enlightened culture, because as a child we and even our parents have been taught that self-value comes from a "good ol' fashioned" job that pays well and affords you all the things you need in this life.... The San Fernando Valley Greens Support the “Occupy” Movement
At the October monthly meeting of the San Fernando Valley Greens, our Valley Green Party leaders formed a solid consensus to support the Occupy Wall Street Movement and Occupy LA.
From a small group of dedicated protesters, “Occupy Wall Street” has spread across the country to more than 100 cities, as well as around the world. While protestors have many reasons for being involved, they can be summed up by the Green Ten Key Values. For this reason the San Fernando Valley Greens support, endorse, and are actively involved in the Occupy Movement.
Grassroots Democracy – For years, our rights and freedoms have been limited by government, corporations, and the rich. We support the return of these rights and freedoms to the people, where they belong. We support the Occupy Movement’s enthusiasm for engaging our American electorate in the Democratic Process at the Grassroots Level.

Social Justice and Equal Opportunity – The history of the United States is a litany of oppression and injustice by those holding power over all minorities. We support justice and equal rights for all Americans, not just the rich and powerful. We support the Occupy Movement’s process of allowing minorities to be heard and their use of the Consensus Process and General Assemblies in making their decisions, a Green Party practice.

Ecological Wisdom – Humans have consistently raped the Earth in our never-ending lust for profit. Nowhere has this been truer than in the United States. We support the idea that we are “part of nature, not separate from nature” and support the development of ecological balance to end this abuse. We support the Occupy Movement’s focus on Ecological Wisdom.

Non-Violence – In an extraordinary show of peaceful intent, all of the Occupy protesters have been non-violent, with violent response the purview of government and law enforcement. We support the Occupy Movement's continued focus on non-violent protest against the individuals, groups, and institutions that have curtailed our constitutional rights.

Decentralization of Power – The source of the abuse of our rights and freedoms has come from the centralization of power in the hands of a small group, known as the 1% that has used it to buy government officials and legislation and. We support the decentralization of power, giving it back to the 99%, the American people, where it belongs. The SFV Greens support the position that Corporations are not People and that Money does not equal Free Speech.

Community-based Economics – As part of the decentralization of power, we support the return to local production and distribution of goods and services wherever possible, returning control over their future to individuals and communities. We support the Occupy Movement’s focus on rejecting Too-Big-To-Fail Corporate services and products and bringing our economy back to the local level.

Gender Equality/Feminism – In addition to Social Justice and Equal Opportunity, we specifically support equal rights for all people, regardless of their sex, gender, or sexual orientation. We support all Occupiers who are taking a stand for the Equal Rights Amendment and Marriage Equality for all Americans.

Respect for Diversity – Just as diverse groups have been able to join peacefully together in the Occupy movement to express their anger and frustration about a range of abuses by corporate industry, government, and the ultra-rich, we Greens support and respect diversity, and the right of all groups to lobby for redress of grievances and the wrongs committed against them. We embrace the Occupy Movement's celebration of Diversity, an untapped American strength.

Accountability & Personal Responsibility – The Occupy Movement has been demanding accountability for the Wall Street criminals responsible for their “casino” mentality and the manufactured mortgage fraud that has wrecked the American and World economy for over three years now, with no arrests or accountability under the law for wrong-doing. Each of us has the right and the responsibility as citizens to speak out against any perceived wrongs. The Occupy protesters are exercising their constitutional right of Freedom of Assembly. We encourage individuals and groups to accept that responsibility and work to “foster peace, economic justice, and the health of the planet.” We support the Occupy Movement's right to be heard and their demands for Accountability on the local, national and global levels.

Future Focus and Sustainability – The issues raised by the Occupy protesters have brought our attention to the wide range of unsustainable practices and abuses by government and corporations, and the urgent need to remedy those wrongs – from providing for “the General Welfare” to securing “the Blessings of Liberty” for all people, to protecting the environment through sustainable policies. The SFV Greens support the Occupy Movement’s success in changing the corporate media’s narrative, and creating a heightened awareness both nationally and globally, that requires a new direction for the peoples of the world, one that strengthens the world’s democracies and creates a healthier planet.

Because of our “common cause” with the Occupy movement, the San Fernando Valley Greens fully support and endorse the non-violent efforts of the Occupy Movement, as well as the Right of Assembly and Freedom of Speech of all protesters around the world who have joined them, and their efforts to bring about peaceful change for the benefit of all of us.

The SFV Greens urge the Green Party Los Angeles County Council and the Green Party of California to issue public statements of support for the Occupy Wall Street Movement.

As an individual, you have the opportunity to reinvent yourself in every way - the way you are, through your persona, how you introduce yourself, how you market yourself, how you carry yourself.

- if applicable, a piece of your artistry (a CD, a portfolio, etc)

Sunday September 18, 2011 12-3pm - OPTIONAL 2nd day
North Hollywood, CA 91601 location (15 mins from the Day 1 location)
Focus areas covered:
- what to say in between songs and various other ideas on stage patter, rhubarb and meaningful story telling.
- how to own the stage with your body - where to plant your feet, what part of the stage to move in, how to use the stage to your fullest potential.
- delivering emotion through the body, eyes and voice during your songs.
- how to reach tens, hundreds, thousands, and grab them in the palm of your hands.
- working with band members. Great tips on keeping your musicians focused and you focused on them as well as your audience.
- proper microphone technique and dealing with equipment, cables and stuff that gets in the way.
- how to deal with difficult venues and stage limitations.
- creating an entire show - from your first song to the last. The story, the movements, the songs all tied up in one package to blow the audience away.
- off the stage - the 101 on arriving to a venue, loading in, performing and loading out, with helpful tips on the meet and greets with fans, industry personnel and others.
This workshop is very much a hands on, practical session focusing on your songs, your performance and your experience.

WHAT TO BRING:
- your musical instrument.
- prepare up to 3 songs
- at least 20 copies of lyric sheets of each song.
- your stage costumes (how you dress to perform. Don't hold back. Clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup, or none of it: what you do, wear it).
- Pen and paper
- packed lunch (snacks provided but this is not a catered lunch affair)

Ask For Clarity

Asking for clarity opens the way for the universe to provide you everything you want. Sometimes we stay in a fog because we don't know how to resolve it or we are confused because we get bogged down in the day to day, and too many decisions and directions to choose from.
This is where the "asking" comes in. Take a moment to find some solitude and quiet. Think about all the things you are confused about, or the decisions and directions that are on your plate, and visualize an opening, a space. If you like to meditate, use those practices to concentrate just on your breath and the silence.

The Genghis Cohen got a taste of “the thunder from down under,” when Australian musician Gilli Moon performed this past Thursday night. Moon has lived in Los Angeles for the past 10 years and continues to produce albums that speak volumes to her audience.   She has total of six records under her belt and sang a number of selections from her catalog. She also performed some great hits from her most recent release, The Stillness.

Moon’s passion for not only her own music, but music in general, was obvious as she performed with a sense of joy and confidence. Snaps and claps filled the venue, coming from both the audience and Moon herself. Moon’s songs were relatable to every woman in the crowd, as she sang from the heart about the pain of heartbreak and the struggle to find yourself during chaotic times.

Moon began the set with songs off her previous albums. Those tracks were filled with honest messages of struggle and self-doubt. She took the stage, headed over to her piano and belted out “Release Me,” from her 2005 release, Extraordinary Life. Like a self-therapy session, she seemed to calm herself and embrace the struggle as she delivered music from The Stillness. The central message of the album is the need for inner peace within oneself and to learn from past mistakes.

It was as though the crowd was watching Moon morph from a girl into a woman right before their eyes. The tracks seem to solve all the immature, but normal problems that a girl faces during the journey of self-discovery. Her music makes us realize that the answers to our struggles can’t be found in others, but within ourselves.

G'day peaceful warriors,

gilli moon here.

Been a while since my last update, but the creativity has been flowing, let me assure you. I'm looking forward to the summer sizzle over here in Los Angeles. I love Southern California in the summer time. Beach, cool breezes at night, warm sunny days, mellow groovy jazz or RnB softly playing on the ipod or stereo, a good book to read on the weekends, the piano taunting my fingers to dabble and be inspired for some song writing, love in my life, some summer outdoor gigs, and family coming to visit. What more can a girl want?

Where's your focus?

Recently I attended a workshop on Goal Making, thinking I'd know a lot of the subject matter, but I went anyway as it was free. It ended up changing my whole perspective on not only my goals, but how I communicated my commitment of them. In addition, it allowed me to really take a strong, hard look at what I'm focusing on, and what is important in my life.
