Washers Gallery • First attempt at a washers game

This is my first attempt at a washers game. I have only built cornhole boards up to this point. I decided to go with the 3-hole washer/holey board game because I figured the construction would be most like my cornhole boards. I built these to pretty much the same specs that I build all of my cornhole boards. The frame is 2x4's with a 1/2" top. I put 1 brace underneath 18" from the front for added support because most people I have met play where you stand on tehe front of the boards to throw. Then I ended up putting 2-4" behind the 1st and 2nd holes to help figure out which washers went in which hole. I used pocket holes to put together the frame and then screwed up through the frame to attach the top. I am working on a set now where I am going to try to carpet just the top and not the frame so that I can paint the frame. I also am working on coming up with a good system for painting washers. I will probably do some reading on this board and figure something out.

Simplify the Bust Rules.

Basically, if you bust, you take your penalty(minus the hole point you scored from current score), and then that is it. You are done throwing for that throw, your washers in the holes mean nothing, and don't cancel anything and can't be canceled out.

In Blackjack, when you bust, that is it for that hand. You don't wait to see if someone else busted. You bust and your done for the hand.

Example 1: I have 19, and I am throwing first. I throw first 2 washers and get nothing. I throw 3rd washer and hit the 3 hole. I bust, and my score goes to 16. I don't throw my last washer, and the washer in the 3 hole means nothing for the next thrower.

Example 2: I have 18 and I'm throwing second. My opponent has one in the 5 hole. My first washer goes in the 1 hole. My second washer goes in the 5 hole. Since that would be a cancel, I keep throwing. My 3rd throw goes in the 5 hole again. I'm bust. My score goes down to 13, and I'm done. My washers in the 5 hole do not cancel out my opponents 5. I'm bust, so my washers don't count.

Haha. I paint mine with nail polish and then coat it with some colorless nail polish afterwards. It can handle a little bit of abuse, but the stuff does chip off after some time...which isn't really that bad because I can just go back and coat them with (cheap) nail polish again.
