A bunch of my friends were kind enough to humor me and come to my "Abraham Lincoln Halloween Costume Contest & Party" over the weekend. The basic premise was everyone should try to come as some variation of Lincoln. For instance -- I was Gay-braham Lincoln... the results were fabbbbulousss!

How come there's no political party with a kick-ass mascot? I mean, an elephant? A donkey? That's the best you've got? Without even trying I can come up with better animals for mascots -- a lion, bear, cheetah, wolf, eagle... see, it's easy. Just go to a high school and steal their mascot -- it's almost guaranteed to be better. I'll tell ya -- if it came down to a vote between the elephant party and the saber-toothed tiger party -- I'm going with the saber-toothed tiger.. every time.

The photo wasn't much, but it reminded them both of a different time in their lives. For him, memories of long days working the fields with pa where his youthful body seemed like it would never grow old or quit. For her there was no specific thing she remembered - she simply enjoyed the old photo. No, for her it was more of a strange, but comfortable sense of the familiar she gained from it. Both enjoyed looking at the photo, faded and wrinkled, but both also felt a profound sense of sadness when viewing it. Like the photo, their lives too had become faded and wrinkled and, like the photo, their lives would one day become nothing, but a memory.
