For its Harry Winston Opus 11, the watch brand partnered with Denis Giguet who is no stranger to the master craft of watch making as founder of the Manufacture de Contemporaine du Temps or MCT, a privately owned watch brand that creates about 50 exclusive and exquisite time pieces in a year. Giguet is also no stranger to the Harry Winston Opus collection, having previously worked behind the scenes as head of production for Opuses 1 to 6.

The Harry Winston Opus 11 was officially introduced at the Baselworld fair in early 2011 to rave reviews. It is a watch like none other, with a daring technological innovation and complication on its time display and dial. The watch itself consists of three circular dials, with the main dial flanked on the right by two external sub-dials.

The Harry Winston Opus 11 main dial, at first glance, looks filled with a jumble of broken bits and pieces. More like a jigsaw puzzle than a watch dial. Upon closer inspection, however, the dial reveals a system of four rotating gears on a central circular platform that is also rotating. These gears are all designed to rotate while the
seconds are ticking and then at every hour on the hour, the beauty of the movement comes to fore when four placards (out of the 24) unite to form the Hindu-Arabic numeral for the hour.

Of course this is a watch that does not only track hourly time. The uppermost sub-dial on the right tracks the minutes using two discs with a smaller inner disc displaying the tens unit from 0 to 6 through retrograde movement and the larger outer running disc at the bottom displaying the ones unit from 0 to 9. The bottom sub-dial simply houses the titanium balance wheel or tourbillon for the wearer’s enjoyment.

Fortis watch brand recently introduced the world’s first and only mechanical alarm watch, the B-42 OFFICIAL COSMONAUTS CHRONOGRAPH ALARM TITAN. This watch incorporates the intrinsic properties of its predecessors that has proven their trustworthiness in space and certified by the Federal Space Agency. The watch offers along with time keeping the chronograph functions, date, alarm, centre-stop-second, small second, 30-minute and 12 hour counters.

The Bell&Ross watch brand Vintage Collection contains Heritage, Original and Officer BR 123 models with Chronograph versions released as BR 126.

In 2010, the Bell&Ross watch brand had remade BR 123 and BR 126 Heritage models and released Heritage Carbon versions, with the watch casing remade from stainless steel to steel with black carbon PVD-coated finishing. In 2011, Bell & Ross widens its Carbon conversion by propagating its carbon-coated casing to its Vintage Original models.
Now, the original Bell&Ross watch brand Vintage Original BR 123 and the Vintage Original BR 126 models were encased in black coated stainless steel with satin finish and black calfskin strap. The 2011 version has the steel housing also updated to steel with black carbon PVD coating.

Why the upgrade to carbon coating, one may ask. For one the carbon PVD coating gives the watch a ceramic look and feel, and second the coating also provides the watch with a more elegant matte black finish that is becoming popular nowadays.
The Bell&Ross Watch Brand Vintage Original Carbon retains the 41mm diameter sized casing with black PVD-coated stainless steel as the material for its case and stationary bezel. Genuine sapphire crystal protects the dial and as well as displays the movement through the case back.
The dial retains the same simplistic time and date display with hands, hour markers (in Hindu Arabic digits for each quarter and indices for the rest) and minute indices coated with Superluminova for luminous time display in the dark.
Not much information is provided regarding the movement used by the watch, but that may be because the Vintage Original Carbon update may be carrying the same caliber as the original Vintage Original, the Swiss ETA 2895 automatic winding mechanical movement with power reserve of about 4 hours.
The Bell&Ross Watch Brand 123 features a seconds sub-dial above the 6 o’clock index and an circular date display is also at the 6 o’clock position of the seconds sub-dial. The BR 126 carries a chronograph function and does away with the small seconds sub-dial in favor of an additional seconds hand and features two sub-dials with a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock and 60-second counter at 3 o’clock and the date display between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock.

Water resistance is up to 100 meters with the crown screwed down. Both the Vintage Original Carbon 123 and 126 models now come with darker brown calfskin stitched leather strap with black PVD-coated steel tongue buckle. There’s currently no news if a beige version is in the works for the Vintage Original Carbon models.

Illumination is a key element in diving watches as light sources are very few to none in deep undersea environments. The Prometheus JellyFish Automatic Men’s Tritium Diver Watch makes use of T25 tritium tubes produced by the Swiss MB Microtec company to illuminate its dial. Tritium tubes are usually made of glass tubes with an inner layer of phosphor filled with tritium gas. Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen (safer than Radium) that emits electrons when it undergoes beta decay. In the Tritium tube when the emitted electrons interact with the phosphor lining, visible fluorescent light is produced, which although not visible in daylight, is highly visible in the dark up to a distance of several meters.

The dial of the Prometheus Jellyfish is elegantly spare to allow high contrast between the markers and the background. T25 Tritium tubes were used to illuminate hour markers as well as the hour, minutes and seconds hands. An orange colored tube is used at the 12 o’clock marker while the rest of the tubes are green-colored. T25 indicates that the watch’s radio luminescence will last up to 25 years with the brilliance dimming by half after 12 years, then after 6 years, and so on and so forth.
A date display is angled discreetly at the 4:23 position. The watch brand name and logo appears discreetly at the top just underneath the 12 o’clock position. The dial is available in four variations of white on black, white on blue, black on white and black on yellow.
A unidirectional external bezel with deeply scalloped edges and an embedded T25 tritium tube at the 60th mark, allows divers to safely and precisely time underwater operations to the tune of 90 smooth clicks.
The entire watch face is covered by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating on the internal side. The case back is solid and features a Jellyfish engraving as a tribute to the model name.

The watch uses calibre NE15A/6R15 from Japanese watch brand Seiko Incorporated Inc., which makes use of 23 jewels and produces automatic movement with automatic ball bearing, power reserve of up to 50 hours, manual winding feature and as well as hacking seconds and quick date correction.

The casing is made of reinforced 316L stainless steel attached to a 316L stainless steel bracelet with screwed brush-finished links. The watch is completed by a flip-lock snap clasp also with brushed finish and signed with the Prometheus fire logo. As this is a diver’s watch, the bracelet also comes with a diver’s extension to allow the bracelet to fit over the diver’s suit. The watch brand never forgot its mechanical roots however and continued its development of mechanical watches about five years later and onto the 21st century.

By 2005, exactly half a century since its founding, the Sea-Gull watch brand had refocused its efforts back to the creation and perfection of mechanical watches, introducing its first tourbillon model in the same year, a limited edition model with the first edition presented to Olympic champion and Chinese national pride, Liu Xiang.

This mechanical model is different from its predecessor in that it comes with a date display, a 24-hour day/night indicator, a 24-hour power reserve indicator, and its crowning glory, a tourbillon. A total of 23 jewels were used in the creation of the ST8007SA model.
The watch dial is in white with Roman numeral hour markers and dots as minute markers. A date indicator sub-dial with indicators from 1 to 31 is at the 3 o’clock position, while a 24-hour power reserve indicator with day/night partition is at the 9 o’clock position. A small seconds subdial is at the 12 o’clock position while the watch tourbillon is beautifully displayed t the 6 o’clock position.

The Ulysse Nardin Dual Time Executive Lady watch features the gorgeous mother of pearl white dial with eight diamonds. The push pieces of the patented GMT system is made from ceramic and positioned at 4 and 10 o’clock. The dial houses a second time display window that is counterweighted by a big date round window at 2 o’clock. The large small-seconds counter positioned at 6 o’clock in visually dominated a rose gold frame. The dial is numbered with diamond-set Roman numerals, and the screw down crown of the watch is decorated with diamonds to match the dial.

The watch is powered by a modified movement based in the ETA 2892-A2 automatic caliber movement and features 34 jewels and vibrates at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement offers a power reserve up to 44 hours.

The watch comes with a white rubber band or a white alligator leather strap featuring a folding buckle.The watch is delivered either on a white rubber band with folding buckle or, preferably, on a white alligator leather strap.
