Dragon Ball SD is a remake of the Dragon Ball manga with SD graphics and simplified text made for very young children. It is published since December 2010 in the magazine Saikyō Jump, which contains spin-off stories from various other manga series including Naruto, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Toriko, Bleach, and One Piece. The first four chapters of Dragon Ball SD quickly cover the main story points of the series, jumping straight from Goku's childhood to the battle on Namek, and then to the Cell Games and the Majin Buu Saga. When Saikyō Jump switched from a quarterly publication to a monthly format in 2012, starting with chapter 5, Naho Ooishi decided to restart the series over from the very beginning and monthly chapters have more gradually followed the story of the original manga, with comical references to future events that have yet to occur added.

Dragon Ball SD
Dragon Ball SD is a spinoff manga of Dragon Ball that is written by Ooishi Naho, the author of Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! special chapter. It is published in the new magazine Saikyo Jump, which will contain spinoff stories from various other manga series including Naruto and One Piece.
The story is a retelling of Goku and Krillin's training with Master Roshi. Like the title of the manga suggest, the design are in SD (Super Deformed).

Differences

Due to it being a comical retelling which "remixes" the plot in the sense of Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure, many facts from the manga and overall plot have been twisted making it intentionally incompatible with the manga canon. These details include the fact that Grandpa Gohan left a letter for Goku to go to Roshi, which Goku did within a few panels with the Nimbus yet Krillin was there before him and Goku didn't recognise Roshi making the prior owner of the cloud likely to be another person.

Other Differences
1.Goku meets Turtle first on the island, not saving himself which earned the Nimbus.
2.Roshi doesn't know what Goku wanted when he arrived.
3.After a few gags, they skip to the Island of Training. No mention of capsules, 4.Launch or Dragon Balls as Chapter 1.
5.Instead of the training methods in the manga and a rock search, it is simply a one month survival in the jungle.
6.Kamehameha debuts in the plot with Roshi destroying an erupting volcano.
7.Krillin isn't hostile to Goku, being friendly from nearly the start and enjoyed Goku's wild life style.
8.Krillin is captured by a pterodactyl and Goku uses the Kamehameha for it's first time to save Krillin.
9.Seemingly Nimbus doesn't come from the sky any more based on the first page and the page where Goku doesn't call for it.

Trunks returns to the future and is reunited with Bulma. As tranquility seems to return, it is announced that the androids are attacking again. Thanks to his training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Trunks easily destroys Androids #17 and #18. Three years later, Trunks prepares to head back into the past to tell everyone of his victory. However, there is still one more android to stop: Cell. With #17 and #18 gone, Trunks kills the weaker Imperfect Cell and peace finally is restored to the future. Back in the present, Goku begins his new "life" in the Other World.
This episode was originally scheduled to air March 27, 2011, but Fuji TV postponed the airing of this and several other television programs to air news coverage on the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. It was eventually released on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 2, 2011 and is listed as an "extra" episode, instead of the original Episode 98.

It’s official, a new Dragon Ball manga entitled Dragon Ball SD premiered on December 3rd, 2010 in Japan. The release date marks the 26th anniversary of the original Dragon Ball manga. Its creator is Naho Ooishi who also did the manga adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s “Hey! Son Goku and Friends Return!” anime special. The manga is regularly featured in Shonen Jump’s new magazine Super Strong Jump (Saikyō Jump).

Confirmed: Dragonball Kai to End with Episode 97

Earlier this week Fuji TV updated their TV schedule indicating that the final episode of DragonBall Kai would be skipped and Toriko would in fact be taking over the 9:00AM time slot on 3 April 2011. As you may recall, everything had originally been thrown off an entire week due to the horrific earthquake that struck Japan the other week. Well, Toei Animation's official website for DragonBall Kai is now noting that episode 97 is indeed the "final episode" of the series. It appears they will be entirely skipping episode 98, even though we know it has likely been completed, as its episode title was previously released, the dialogue is recorded weeks in advance, and it was originally scheduled to air on Fuji TV this week.

There is still no word whether this episode will ever be broadcast or available on a home release. It may eventually be broadcast on Fuji TV Two, a satellite only channel that will begin re-running DragonBall Kai episodes on 30 March 2011, but that is mere speculation at this point. No matter how you spin it, the end of Kai has been quite the fiasco, and certainly nothing like what any of us expected it to be.

And thus passes one really, really weird chapter in DragonBall history...

After killing Cell, Gohan and the others return to Kami's Lookout. Meanwhile, Mr. Satan boasts that he killed Cell, instead of Gohan. The public celebrates Mr. Satan's victory. Meanwhile, Dende heals Gohan. Piccolo convinces Dende to summon Shenron. He uses the first wish to revive everyone killed in the Cell Games, including Trunks. Yamcha gives his second wish to revive Goku. However, Shenron reveals that Goku has been brought back to life once, therefore, that wish cannot be granted. The warriors suggest they bring Porunga from Namek, but Goku contacts the warriors from the Other World. Goku has decided to remain in the Other World. Krillin gives his second wish to remove the bombs from the Androids, and succeeds. Android #18 declines Krillin's offer to join the team and leaves. The four Z Warriors leave Kami's Lookout to celebrate Goku's life. Chi-Chi grieves over Goku's loss. Trunks bids farewell to everyone and departs for the future. Gohan smiles at Goku's image in the sky.

Cell continues to charge his Kamehameha, and reveals that not only has he gathered enough energy to destroy the Earth, but he also now has the potential to destroy the entire solar system with this blast. Meanwhile, Vegeta apologises to Gohan for his recklessness. As Gohan and the others watch on in hopelessness, Goku contacts his son from the afterlife and tells him that even in his injured state he has the potential to defeat Cell. Reinvigorated, Gohan prepares a final, one-handed Kamehameha to repel Cell's blast. As the two warriors struggle to overpower each other, Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha and Krillin bombard Cell with ki blasts in a knowingly futile attempt to help, but are easily repelled. As Goku coaxes Gohan to release his full power against Cell, Vegeta returns to the battlefield and launches one final Big Bang Attack, which temporarily distracts Cell. Seeing the opportunity, Gohan finally releases his full strength and overpowers Cell's wave, obliterating Cell's body and and saving the Earth from destruction. Gohan has won and the Cell Games are finally over.

Cell states that the entire Earth will be vaporized with him once he self-destructs. With mere seconds left, Goku says goodbye to his son and teleports himself and Cell to King Kai's planet, the only safe place he could think of. Upon arrival, Cell finally explodes, destroying the planet and killing everyone there. As Gohan is left on Earth to grieve, Goku and King Kai realise that Cell hasn't accompanied them to the afterlife, and therefore must have survived the explosion. Using Goku's Instant Transmission technique, Cell returns to Earth, where he kills Trunks with a single blast through the chest. He then reveals that not only did his nucleus survive the explosion, but he was able to regenerate into his perfect form - and thanks to his Saiyan genetics, he is far stronger than ever before. Enraged by the death of his son, Vegeta unleashes a furious barrage of ki blasts at Cell, but is easily defeated and is only saved from certain death when Gohan intercepts Cell's blast and takes the full force of the attack. With Gohan injured and nobody left to challenge him, Cell prepares one final Kamehameha to destroy Gohan and the Earth once and for all.

Cell finally unleashes his full power against Gohan, but even at maximum strength his attacks have no effect on the Super Saiyan 2. After being easily bested in battle, Cell attempts to destroy Gohan and the Earth with a giant Kamehameha, but Gohan produces an even larger wave and deflects the attack with ease. As the rest of the fighters predict an easy victory, Goku recalls that even in the Room of Spirit and Time, Gohan displayed strength far beyond that of a normal Super Saiyan. He then tells Gohan to deliver the finishing blow to Cell, but Gohan insists that Cell must suffer first. Cell then utilises his bulked-up transformation, but the increase in muscle mass lowers his speed greatly and as a result none of his attacks connect with Gohan – who counters with a single blow to the stomach, causing Cell to regurgitate Android 18 and revert back to his semi-perfect form. As the fighters assume that this means victory for Gohan, Cell’s body begins to expand to a gigantic size.

Cell realizing that Gohan cannot unleash his hidden powers in response to physical pain, he devises a plan to kill Gohan's friends by spawning seven offspring--the Cell Jr.'s. Only Vegeta, Trunks, and Piccolo are able to hold their own against the Cell Jr.'s, while Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and the fatigued Goku are unable to fight back. Gohan wants to unleash his power, but cannot figure out how. Meanwhile, Android 16's head has Mr. Satan carry him to Gohan. He sympathizes with Gohan's desire not to kill, but encourages him that it is okay to unleash his anger to save those that he loves. Cell crushes Android 16's head--an action that finally pushes Gohan over the edge and triggers his transformation into a Super Saiyan 2.

When it fails to go off, Krillin explains that when he was being repaired, Bulma had the explosive removed from #16 as she didn't trust him. So Cell quickly release #16's hold causing his body to shatter, leaving only his head. When Cell realizes his attempts at physical intimidation are failing, he devises a plan to attack the ones that are closes to Gohan by spawning seven offspring - the Cell Jr.'s.
