Kris Allen gave a great performance of "Live Like We're Dying" on yesterday's Ellen and then made the audience swoon when talking about his wife Katy in the post-performance interview.

Kris said, "People were like, 'Why'd you get married so young?', and I was like, 'I just knew, you know?'" When the audience awwww'd at him, he got all embarrassed and covered his face with his hand, saying "I'm not trying to be all cuddly and nice, but if you know, you know. I didn't want to try anything else." (cue more awwwwww's)

Seriously, Kris. How are you even real?

American Idol Season 9 To Begin Jan. 12

American Idol will kick off its ninth season (!!!!) with a two-night premiere on Jan. 12 and 13. A promo ran tonight during So You Think You Can Dance. It featured a male singer singing "Feelin' Good" during his audition. He obviously doesn't know that "Feelin' Good" is the kiss of death on that show.

The singer in question looks like Justin Williams, who was in Kris Allen and Matt Giraud's White Chocolate group during Hollywood Week last year. What do you think?

Adam's Video Is Here For Your Entertainment

Here's Adam Lambert's music video for "For Your Entertainment". It's basically a performance piece set in a club. You can definitely see the rave influences here. There are a few quick cuts that are seizure-inducing, and I'm very grateful that it's this song they're doing these cuts on and not "If I Had You", aka the Pokemon song. Can you just imagine thousands of Glamberts being taken to the hospital with photosensitive epilepsy?! PEW! PEW! PEW!

Arkansas About To Claim Another Winner

Kris Allen is the American Idol, and his close friend and bandmate Cale Mills, representing Arkansas, is very close to becoming the 2009 Cosmo Bachelor of the Year.

Ahhh Arkansas. What a year for the state. Kris wins American Idol, Cale is about to win the Cosmo Bachelor of the Year. Little Rock is winning the Kradison concert. If we could vote on what the U.S. capital could be, I swear, Little Rock would win.

(And seriously? What are they feeding them in Arkansas to come out with two hot, talented guys like Kris and Cale?)

Kris put his official endorsement on Cale's candidacy at MTV.com. "He doesn't have to take his shirt off to be sexy. The other guy does," Kris said. "And he's got a beard. Which always wins."

You can vote for Cale (and against Matt Smith. Sorry, just saying!) at Cosmo in the Bachelor Wars. Cale is currently in the lead with 59% wins and 41% losses.

In part one, Kris talks about his fake hotel name (Bow Chicka Wow Wow. Which makes him Mr. Bow. BWAHAHA), hairy feet, and his bromance with Adam Lambert. In part two, he talks more about his friendship with Adam. When asked if he thought it was gratifying that their friendship made people more open-minded about gays and Christians, he said, "I've heard stuff like that before, like 'So Christians CAN be nice to gays.' I was like 'What?! People should just be nice to people. It doesn't matter who you are." Um, why are you so perfect, Kris Allen?

Kris Allen Back In The Studio

His album just came out this week, but Kris Allen is still busy making music. In a series of cryptic tweets from him and his people, it was revealed that Kris was in the studio recording last night.

His friend and band member Cale Mills started it off in the early evening by tweeting: Saw mj's "this is it" last night & today we're recording in the studio where "we are the world" was recorded. Who wants to watch thriller?!

Seven hours later, Kris' wife Katy tweeted: In the studio with Kris.... Can't wait for people to hear this

Kris finally joined in an hour after that, around 2:30 am, with this tweet: In the studio. I know I know. The album is done. But I couldn't stay out.

So naturally, wild speculation ran rampant about just what Kris was doing in the studio for nine hours. Here are a few theories that went through my head:
*Recording an acoustic EP
*Recording Christmas music
*Recording a song for a soundtrack
*Recording a song for a charity CD
*Recording Man in the Mirror for a Michael Jackson tribute album (thanks to Cale's tweet)
*Recording version 8.0 of Heartless

The more I think about it, though, the more I think it's gotta be some kind of EP. I don't think that it takes 9 hours to record one song, and that's a heck of a lot of $ to spend on studio time for one song anyway.

So I'm going to put my prediction on the record (because I want to come back and laugh when we get the truth if I'm totally wrong): I think Kris is recording a 4-song acoustic EP that will include Live Like We're Dying, Heartless (perhaps with Gangsta's Paradise mash-up), Let It Rain and the Mat Kearney co-write, Top of the World.

Anyone else have any good guesses? Speculate away in the comments ...

Topanga, Drag Queens Love Kris Allen On The Dish

So there was a little bit more to The Dish segment with Kris Allen than the earlier clip from the Style network indicated. First off, at the top of the show Danielle Fishel announced Kris as a guest by saying, "American Idol hunk Kris Allen stops by to give me some lovin'". You know Kris' inner teenager was dying if he heard to hear that come out of Topanga's mouth.

At the end of the show, some drag queens that were part of an earlier segment (Frieda Lay and Kay Sedia) re-appeared to give Danielle a Kris Allen autographed CD and then proceeded to fight over him.

Matt Giraud Solo Concert

Matt Giraud performed two sold-out solo concerts today in Michigan. The Grand Rapids Press wrote a review of the first 90-minute concert, and it's GLOWING. The writer starts the review by saying, "Matt Giraud had his 'swagger on high' Saturday at his first solo concert, warmly engaging the sold out crowd with his marvelous voice, gorgeous piano playing and outsized charm." And she gave the concert 4 out of 4 stars.

Matt debuted four original songs - "I Miss You Tonight", "Go On and Sing, Boy", "Gimme a Break", and "Breakin’ in a Broken Heart". I love "I Miss You Tonight"! Check it out below, from AINow.org, which also has videos from his other performances:

Allison Iraheta - Acoustic Just Like You

Kris Allen, who has never been shy about his Boy Meets World love, will be a guest on Danielle Fishel's show The Dish on the Style Network Saturday night at 10 pm. Danielle Fishel played Topanga on Boy Meets World.

Kris tweeted about it after they filmed it, saying "Just did Danielle fishels show on e! Who is Aka topanga! Boyhood dreams coming true."

Jim Cantiello and Kris Allen continue to bring the funny with their MTV News interviews. We got three hilarious videos on Friday at MTV.com out of their recent visit.

We'll start with the always hilarious Tweet Beat. This one had me dying of laughter, as Jim created and sang new lyrics for "Live Like We're Dying" to go along with Kris' Sky Mall tweets, which Kris himself did the voice-over for.

Jim added another segment to his six-part Kris interview, chatting with Kris about why he changed his Twitter name from @KrisAllen4Real to @KrisAllen. Kris talks about how he and sax player Kris Allen once made fun of Southern Thunder's Kris Allen a while ago on MySpace and says he wants to meet Southern Thunder Kris Allen really badly.

Kris Allen Gives His NFL Picks

Green Bay Packers fan Kris Allen gives his pigskin prognostications for a few NFL games this week for Fox Sports. Naturally, he picks the Packers to win. In a surprise, though, he picks the Washington Redskins to beat the Dallas Cowboys, claiming the Cowboys have been a bit flip-floppy. Uh, Kris, they've won four of their last five. That ain't exactly flip-floppy. LOL.

They also have him choose between the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions. He pretty much summed it up by saying "The Lions and the Cleveland Browns. This is a tough one because they're both ... not very good." Heh. He picked the Lions because the people at Motown treated him well when he went there.

It's nice to see Kris' management trying to market to the male demographic with this and the Dolphins' tailgate gig. The female Idol fanbase can only carry you so far.

Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert Switch Singles

Danny Gokey and his record label have decided to not release "It's Only" to radio after all, and are now instead releasing the song "My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me." The new song was written by Marv Green, who co-wrote "Amazed" by Lonestar, and Kent Blazy, who co-wrote "Ain't Goin' Down Till The Sun Goes Up" by Garth Brooks.

Like "It's Only", the song is inspirational goop. Except this one is a thousand times better. It's actually a pretty decent song (I'm not really a country fan, so consider that a compliment).

I'm generally not a big fan of dropping a song as a single after just two weeks (it screams FAIL! to me), but this needed to be done. Danny's original single "It's Only" was just dreadful with no melodic structure. This one is way more radio-friendly and actually has a chorus, which is more than I can say for the first one.

A similar thing seems to be happening with Adam Lambert, whose "For Your Entertainment" may be dead in the water on radio now that they've released "Whataya Want From Me" to radio this week. Z100 has added it to its playlist already, and KIIS-FM has given it some spins. "For Your Entertainment" was not making a whole lot of progress with Top 40 radio, which is very strange to me because its dance beat is very much in line with what's being played right now, but it didn't catch on. Oddly enough, Hot AC was playing FYE more than Top 40, which just boggles my mind. What's really interesting about this is that Adam just filmed his music video for "For Your Entertainment" this weekend. Adam's handling in regards to radio is truly baffling.

Michael Slezak's 7-Part Kris Allen Interview

Entertainment Weekly's Idol guru Michael Slezak scored a 7-part in-depth video interview this week with Kris Allen about his album and the writing and recording process of nearly every song on the CD (with included song snippets. Well played, Slezak).

They also talked about the making of his music video (Basically, Kris was all Heh. Fire!), the difficulties of singing "Live Like We're Dying" ("Dang you, Script! What are you doing? You're screwing me!" he joked), picking his band, and being intimidated early in the collaboration process. In the last video, Slezak pushes hard for "Before We Come Undone" to be the second single. I think I'm on that train too, but only because "Alright With Me" needs to be saved for the summer. That song screams summer smash.

Amusingly, Kris and Slezak also discuss the constant analysis/scrutiny of every little thing that in reality wasn't even given much a second thought, such as his wedding ring being prominent on the CD cover and what he's looking at on his cover (Kris, I thought you were staying away from the blogs!)

Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert Pictured In People's Sexiest Man Alive Issue

Well, my speculation (emphasis on speculation; I never said it was actual) earlier was off a little. Oops. Turns out the only Idols featured in People's Sexiest Man Alive issue were Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert. David Cook and Kris Allen were featured in a video on the Sexiest Man Alive page but were not included in the issue.

Because I keep seeing this repeated everywhere, I would like to emphasize that there is no ranking for the Sexiest Men, outside of THE Sexiest Man Alive for this year, Johnny Depp. People's website put up a photo gallery up of some of the men in the issue, and some people got confused and thought that since the photos were numbered, they were ranked. That is not the case. There is no ranking outside of THE sexiest man alive for 2009, Johnny Depp (I beg to diffa, but that's another story. BRADLEY COOPER got screwed!).

Adam was listed under "Sexiest Rocker" with a small thumbnail-size photo (with the same picture and quote they used on the People website). Daughtry got a full page under "Sexiest Song" with the same photo from the website as well (also in this category are Flo Rida and Josh Groban).

Adam, Kris, Katy On Us Weekly Red Carpet

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert met up at the US Weekly Hollywood Hot List party on Wednesday night. Kris, who had just flown back to Los Angeles from New York, came with his wife Katy. Both guys were honored by the magazine on its Hollywood Hot List, with Kris being named Victor of the Year and Adam Glam God of the Year.

Kris Allen - Cosmo Radio Interview

Kris Allen did a nine and a half minute-long interview with Cosmo Radio on Sirius/XM on Wednesday. He talked about possibly doing a cover of "Electric Feel" by MGMT, picking his band members from Cosmo Magazine (shoutout to Cosmo's Arkansas Sexiest Bachelor, Cale Mills), his wife ("the only reason they talk about her is because she's hot!") and people waiting for/expecting them to not be doing well in their relationship ("we're doing awesome", and going home for Thanksgiving. He also gave shoutouts to Anoop Desai (pink eye and all) and Matt Giraud at the end.

The funniest part came when he talked about going to the John Mayer concert and joked that he was thinking "What if I went up to him and was like 'you know John, I'm going on tour and trying to find someone to open for me. So maybe you'd want to do that.'" HA. That would have been priceless.

Kris Allen sat down with MTV News reporter (and Krim Show cohort) Jim Cantiello for a mostly serious 6-part discussion about Kris' album.

Kris shares some interesting information, such as his desire to not have put with this particular version of "Heartless" on the CD ("it was different for me"), how he bumped iTunes preorder bonus track "From The Ashes" in favor of "Is It Over", and how his stubbornness about writing every song made "The Truth" a song that had to grow on him. He also singles out Lindy Robbins, Jon Foreman and Joe King as people he really collaborated well with. Also addressed was the missing Mat Kearney track (called "Top of the World") that was mostly acoustic but with a dance beat. Kris promises that it will get heard "sometime". He mentioned just before talking about the Kearney song that maybe they'll do an iTunes EP with more acoustic stuff. *crossing fingers*

Allison Iraheta premiered her music video for "Friday I'll Be Over U" on Yahoo Music tonight. The video is very 80's-inspired and very much targeted towards her youthful demographic. It's a little reminiscent of a department store commercial, but Allison is TOTALLY adorable in it.

BTW - Allison sitting on that lips couch ... with her dress flared out like that she looks like Norah Jones on her Not Too Late album.
