Green Islanders can Decrease Bermuda’s Reliance on non-renewable fuels by installing solar water heaters.

The Bermuda Department of Energy is giving to help finance solar water heaters through a rebate system.

It states that the most residences spends between $400 and $1000 per year on heating water, based on energy and water consumption figures provided by the power company.

The price of putting in a solar water heater is high; retrofitting a a home’s water heating system can cost $6,000 to $12,000. But the Government is now giving aid of up to $1,500 per house.

Sun Powered Water Heater Systems

The Solar Water Heater Rebate Initiative is intended for homes and just one application can be made per review number.

Funds are only given to candidates whose systems are set up with a acknowledged authority, solar manufacturer or supplier who has also been okayed to take part in the initiative. A well-designed solar water heater can heat nearly all of a family’s water , requiring little upkeep.

Solar water heaters energy from the sun rather than electrical power, reducing utility bills and are good for the planet as less fossil fuels need to be used.

The Minister of Energy said the initiative will proceed provided that there’s money in the budget.

In addition to pushing numerous property owners to install solar water heaters , the authorities hopes this kind of discount will encourage the area’s solar installation market with the intent of lowering initial expense of solar water heaters.

Government needs Bermuda’s residents to take advantage of this rebate to reduce Bermuda’s dependence on outside fuel sources.

As an added safety precaution, most Houston water heaters come equipped from the manufacturer with a high temperature control switch. Should the water in the tank reach a predetermined temperature, the control switch will automatically shut the unit off. The unit will not resume normal operation until the homeowner manually resets the control switch. This feature can provide an added sense of safety and security for the homeowner.

A common occurrence with any hot water heater is the buildup of mineral sediments that can occur within the water heater tank. These minerals are present in regular tap water, and pose no health or safety risk to the homeowner. As the water sits in the tank, the heat can cause the minerals to separate out of the water and form sediments within tank. These sediments can build up on the walls and bottom of the tank, as well as on the heating elements that may be present inside the tank. You can flush the tank yourself or hire a plumber to help you with the task.
