The Bermuda Department of Energy is giving to help finance solar water heaters through a rebate system.

It states that the most residences spends between $400 and $1000 per year on heating water, based on energy and water consumption figures provided by the power company.

The price of putting in a solar water heater is high; retrofitting a a home’s water heating system can cost $6,000 to $12,000. But the Government is now giving aid of up to $1,500 per house.

The Solar Water Heater Rebate Initiative is intended for homes and just one application can be made per review number.

Funds are only given to candidates whose systems are set up with a acknowledged authority, solar manufacturer or supplier who has also been okayed to take part in the initiative. A well-designed solar water heater can heat nearly all of a family’s water , requiring little upkeep.
