Few things beat the sense of freedom of a naked swim at a waterfall with no one else around - sadly the forest behind where I’m standing has been cleared to build a road and a restaurant with a view of this waterfall. I’ve marked my calendar to come back as often as I can and enhance the tourists’ view. 🍑

The latter. From the Vientiane Times (Apr. 7), yes Lao P.D.R.:

"Nature’s new sanctuary: Namdong Park prepares for this month debut
...
The site is defined by its dense green canopy, fresh mountain air, and the soothing sounds of a waterfall that serves as the park’s centrepiece.

For those who prefer a more active retreat, Namdong Park has integrated several high-energy activities into the natural landscape. A series of hiking trails wind through the forest, catering to different fitness levels and offering viewpoints that overlook the cascading water. These paths allow visitors to witness the local birdlife and unique plant species native to the Xiengmuak area".

Potential visitors must note, that Luang Prabang's surroundings are packed with beautiful waterfall locations.

Elsewhere, another report from the Vientiane Times (Jul. 15) on the state of tourism of Vangvieng and where it's heading. Well, not really, it's just an announcement that:

"Visitors to Vangvieng district in Vientiane province can now enjoy more scenic attractions with the pilot opening of the Mokdom viewpoint and Kae Yeuang waterfall to the general public.
...
Perched at an elevation of 1,470 metres above sea level, the Mokdom viewpoint offers sweeping views of Vangvieng’s iconic limestone mountains, lush forests, and the surrounding valley".

Also being developed (but a different project) is a glass bridge (yawn?).

Heading further south. Again the Vientiane Times (Aug. 4):

"The Tad Pha Suam waterfall in Champasak province will soon reopen to the public.
...
Tad Pha Suam waterfall is scheduled to reopen in October next year, following the renovation of visitor facilities, with local communities encouraged to share in tourism activities at the waterfall, according to the Champamai newspaper".

Struck

Less positive (to disastorous) news section.

A flash flood near Mae Sa (northern Thailand) lead to a waterfall being closed (Nation, August 16):

'The order followed an urgent report from Thongchai Narat, chief of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, that a sudden flash flood had struck Mae Sa Waterfall at 4.20pm, with minor injuries reported among tourists.
Officers stationed at the site issued warnings and assisted in arranging safe transport to hospital in a municipal rescue vehicle.
All tourists were later confirmed safe'.

With the accompanying harrowing video (VNExpress, August 18).

More bad luck (?) in Vietnam, where this (DtiNews, May 29) took place:

'A 16-year-old student in Lam Dong Province died after slipping and falling into an eight-metre-deep waterfall while visiting the site'.

Malaysia's The Vibe has it's own tragedies (Jul. 19):

'Operations commander Mohamad Yazan Yahaya said the tragedy is believed to have occurred when the headwater phenomenon swept through the waterfall area, carrying several people away in the fast-flowing current'.

Finally, the Indonesian Expat (May 25):

'Two Austrian tourists died after falling from a 20-metre-high suspension bridge in the Cunca Wulang Waterfall tourist area [Flores].

And the above are not even the worst reports, so do note and take care!

The first and possibly last post of 2025. I don't know why I hardy find time to include more.

Anyway, we will start with this from the BBC (Sep. 30) concerning tourism on Bali. Which also includes waterfallchasing. It also reflects on tourism worldwide, which works very much in similar fashion.

'Bali, Indonesia's famed tropical paradise, has charmed plenty of tourists over the years.
But it's also leaving a growing number disillusioned

Social media posts about "expectations vs reality" in Bali abound.
Diners enjoying the sunset at a beach-side restaurant - and the piles of rubbish along the rickety stairs to get there.
The bikini-clad pose in front of a waterfall, while a snaking line of tourists await their turn on slippery rocks.
The alfresco smoothies with bamboo straws, right beside soot-puffing motorcycles stuck on jammed roads.
Millions flock to Bali every year in search of the spiritual Shangri-La promised in the noughties memoir and film Eat, Pray, Love.
What they're greeted by instead are crowds, traffic and the cacophony of construction, which has ramped up alongside a post-pandemic boom in tourism'.

Life is too short to wear clothes

Positives. Waterfalls as symbolic friendship between nations. China's People's Daily (Jul. 15) on the Vietnam-China waterfall of :

'Along the China-Vietnam border, the China-Vietnam Detian-Ban Gioc Waterfall cascades across both nations. As the biggest cross-border waterfall in Asia and the fourth-largest cross-border waterfall worldwide, this natural marvel straddles Detian village in Chongzuo, south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Ban Gioc village in Vietnam, a living testament to shared natural beauty and strengthening bilateral ties.

Negatives. Again waterfalls are beautiful, but certainly also tragic.

NDTV (May 10) on the costs of medical assistance after taking a fall at a Thai waterfall.

Mothership reports (Aug. 13) of death of tourist in central Thailand.

Following, a few citations from Malaysia, as an additional warning for seeking out waterfalls for recreation pursuits. FreeMalaysiaToday (Apr. 6):

'A teenage boy drowned after losing his footing while having his photograph taken at the Lata Jarum waterfall in Ulu Dong, Raub, near here today'.

FreeMalaysiaToday (May 12):

'A public holiday outing to a waterfall turned tragic for seven friends from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) after one of them drowned at Lata Changkah in Terengganu today'.

FreeMalaysiaToday (Sep. 16):

'A 16-year-old male student drowned while bathing at the Lata Mengkuang waterfall near here with some friends today'.

Better still to close off waterfalls, if possible.

The Phnom Pehn Post (Sep. 15):

'The Kulen Mountain waterfall area in Siem Reap has been temporarily closed to tourists due to rapidly rising floodwaters, with at least two rivers surpassing emergency alert levels as of Monday, September 15'.

Elsewhere there's this news.

The LaotianTimes (May 13) on the wane (due to a wash-out) and (expected) rise of this Luang Namtha waterfall:

'Authorities in Luang Namtha Province are reviewing plans to restore the Tad Nam Dee Waterfall, a popular natural tourist site, following significant damage caused by last year’s floods from Typhoon Yagi.
The popular eco-tourism site, located just 6 kilometers from Luang Namtha town in Ban Nam Dee village, had attracted over 35,000 visitors in the six months after its official opening in February 2024. However, heavy rainfall in September forced a temporary closure, prompting local officials and stakeholders to discuss rehabilitation efforts.
The Tad Nam Dee Development Company reported that while the site had seen strong interest from both domestic and international tourists, issues such as limited parking and service disruptions were noted even before the weather-related damage.
The restoration plan includes not only repairing the site but also improving nearby infrastructure, including canals, markets, and school facilities. Materials will be provided by the company, with local residents contributing labor.
A timeline for the reopening of Tad Nam Dee has not been finalized, but authorities say restoration is a priority ahead of the next peak tourist season'.

Then, Thailand's Nation (Sep. 15):

'The iconic Kuang Xi waterfall in Luang Prabang province has been ranked among the world’s 21 most beautiful waterfalls by the leading travel magazine “Travel + Leisure”, further strengthening Laos’ reputation as an eco-tourism destination'.

Over to Khammuan. The Vientiane Times (Feb. 27, 2025):

'The Xiengleu waterfall in Bualapha district, Khammuan province, will soon attract more visitors when the construction of ziplines, a rope bridge and treehouses is complete.
The owner of Sayphouluang company, which is building the new visitor attractions, Mr Amphone Bountalath, told the Vientiane Times that there are already restaurants, a campsite, and a viewpoint at the waterfall, which currently attracts at least 100 visitors each day.
In 2023, Sayphouluang company was awarded a 40-year concession on a 33-hectare site to carry out developments around the waterfall, at a cost of US$12 million.
The waterfall is 70 metres high and is situated in a scenic and secluded location.
...
Phou Phamarn hill offers zip-lines for the adventurous, a canopy walkway through the trees, and hikes led by guides through forested areas'.

Then to enhancing the surroundings of waterfalls. The Vientiane Times (June 3, 2025):

'A tree-planting activity was held at Naduang village in Vangvieng district of Vientiane province on Sunday to promote the Kaeng-Nyui waterfall, a new tourist attraction in the area.
...
“The fact that we have such rich forests, dense trees, fresh and clean air, and the beautiful Kaeng-Nyui waterfall is due to the protection of the people of Naduang and neighbouring villages, and these resources will bring endless benefits to the people,” she said.
Realising the potential of the waterfall, the Lao government, including the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, has been trying to mobilise funds to improve the six-kilometre access road and improve the service area at the Kaeng-Nyui waterfall area to provide convenient services to tourists so that they can relax at the site, which can also be a source of natural learning for locals and tourists.
This is being done in preparation for the opening of services for tourists at the waterfall in conjunction with the celebration of National Arbor Day.

The Kaeng-Nyui waterfall site includes forests and natural resources spread over 10 hectares.
The Head of Naduang village, Mr Sengdao Vongphachan, said: “We will be ready to open the Kaeng-Nyui waterfall by the end of this month and we will be able to welcome domestic and foreign visitors.”

Vietiane Times reports (Jul. 22) on Tad Nokkok waterfall in Vientiane province which is gaining in popularity:

'The rainy season brings waterfalls alive in normally dry areas, especially in Vientiane, where local residents flocks to places that are now producing gushing cascades of water after weeks of rain.
...
Xoknapha garden, which houses the Tad Nokkok waterfall in Nangommai village, Xaythany district, drew more than 3,000 visitors on Boun Khao Phansa, the first day of Buddhist Lent.
Mr Sonnapha Xayyavong, who owns [!] the Tad Nokkok waterfall site, told the Vientiane Times “We reopened for service in June after the water flow increased significantly. We had so many visitors at Boun Khao Phansa that the carpark couldn’t handle the number of vehicles.”
“We get hundreds of visitors every weekend, who come here to have a picnic and wallow in the fast-moving water as it flows over the rocks.”
Tad Nokkok waterfall is situated about 40 kilometres from the Donnoon roundabout in Xaythany district. It takes about an hour to get there, with the route following Road No 10.
...
“But of course the big attraction is the rapidly flowing water, which cascades down the hillside and runs over rocks and then collects in pools. The water is clear and cool and people love it.”
Two kayaks are available for use on a 200-metre section downstream of the waterfall and Mr Sonnapha plans to buy four more.
To meet the high visitor demand, he is buying another 1.5 hectares of land to add to the existing 6 hectares he owns. He will use this to improve and extend the car park, build 20 more huts and generally enhance the site, with this work now 60 percent complete.
He also plans to create a trail through the wooded area that surrounds the waterfall so that visitors can add to their enjoyment by admiring the trees and caves'.

Finally, a blog post from Froggy Adsventures (Jan. 23) on a waterfall visit on Thailand's Koh Phangan:

'I was about to snap a photo of the waterfall when Chloe noticed something and told me to hold off. There, sitting beneath the cascade, was a woman—completely topless—enjoying the waterfall’s rush. Next to her was a man sipping from a coconut with a huge smile on his face, both of them locked in an embrace. Despite clearly noticing us before we noticed them, they weren’t startled or disturbed in the slightest. Our presence didn’t interrupt them one bit.
Chloe politely explained that we’d be taking some photos and would keep them out of the frame. To our surprise, the woman cheerfully said, “No, please take a photo of us!” For me, the situation was a little awkward, but for them, it couldn’t have been more natural. After snapping their picture, she gave us her contact info, and a few days later, we sent her the photo. She was thrilled to have a memento of their time at the falls. I won’t share the photo here, though. You’ll just have to use your imagination.
We explored the upper areas of the falls and found it both fascinating and precarious. The stream flowed freely down the rocky riverbed, carving little cliffs along its path. I had to tread carefully to avoid slipping too close to the edges. Its definitely not a place to lose your footing'.

My heart is so so so filled with love for all the crazy never imagined adventures Koh Phangan tooook me on hahahaha tearssss in my eyes while writing this. I lived my Zeytin Agaci moment & it was more beautiful than my wildest imagination.
The biggest lesson however was the one that will forever journey with us. Taking responsibility for our own lives.
Being a victim is probably the easiest role to take on but also what keeps us STUCK in one place. And there’s a difference between understanding this in the mind or with your whole entire body. I’m so so grateful for having experienced how proud & strong actually taking responsibility can make u feel. One of the most painful and painless 3 seconds of my life.

One of the best ways to start a day - waterfall hiking! I’m all alone here early in the morning, unless I invite someone with me. Hiking up the mountain is a nice morning exercise and view points are an amazing distraction! 'Imagine walking along a river in a remote corner of Thailand and seeing a massive flotilla of inner tubes packed with pale flesh bobbing with the current.
That was the scene TikToker @Roritrarkratair stumbled into this week along the Pai River in Mae Hong Son province, where more than 100 tourists filled the river as they slowly floated merrily, merrily along. Instead of a white-water adventure, they seemed to be having some very low-key fun just floating slowly along, all crammed together'.

From the Vientiane Times (Oct. 3, 2023):

'Saravan provincial authorities have awarded a concession to a local company to create a wide range of visitor facilities and services at Tad Loc and Tad Hang waterfalls, in order to attract more tourists.

Developments will be carried out in three phases. Phase I will takes place from 2023-2026 and will include the promotion of tourism, the improvement of infrastructure and facilities, and the organisation of tourist activities.
Phase II will take place from 2026-2030 and will see the construction of hotels, meeting rooms, restaurants and gift shops, and the organisation of a range of tourism activities, while Phase III will see the sites developed to international standards of tourism, according to the Pathetlao Daily newspaper'.

Considering the shame of only the single posting last year, let's start 2023 off on a right foot. And beware not only photo candy but also some content.

But about those photo's. I can understand that I have quite a few fitting from Bali, but why so many from Thailand's Koh Phangan?

Homeiswhereyourbagis (Sep. 8) might have an explanation: favourite place, nice waterfall. What doesn't explain anything. One of their write up's of a Koh Phangan waterfall:

'Another beautiful waterfall of Koh Phangan is the Paradise Waterfall. A really small but very calm waterfall in the middle of the jungle. Not many tourists get lost here.
However, there is little water in the dry season, but you can still sit in the waterfall, enjoy the peace and nature. Simply switch off with a little cooling. I really like it here'.

I suppose there's no answer as to why Koh Phangan waterfalls are popular, nor why everybody should head out here all of a sudden. Possibly to do with it's reputation for full moon parties (and any other moon parties), though these can take place wherever in Southeast Asia.

When it comes to content on Southeast Asian waterfalls, we seem to be steered to another list of / a travel site with tours of and/or when solely relying on news, the drownings/falls themselves. What I mean to say, there's precious little travel info being shared such that it makes it's way to Google searches. So also not here. Didn't it use to be different?

Trip.com has a post (Oct. 13) on the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls of Thailand (editor note: this hardly occurs simultaneously). No surprises on the list, but also no Koh Phangan ... They do answer the following question:

'Is it safe to swim in Thailand's waterfalls?
Generally speaking, the waters are quite clean and you're unlikely to meet any dangerous animals. The only real danger comes from the water current, so be extra careful during the rainy season, when rivers are flowing at their strongest'.

Thailand's leading newspaper Bangkok Post (Mar. 11, 2021) on Chet Sao Noi waterfalls of Saraburi. As usual there's no possibility to quote from Bangkok Post. However from what I understand, huge efforts have been undertaken to ensure over crowding is eased as the park-like landscape has been enhanced and many a facility added. For better, for worse? The Bangkok Post adds that Chet Sao Noi is not overlooked no more.

We are now all settled in our house, which is a very nice feeling. We live a bit outside where everything is happening, about 15-20 minutes drive with scooter. We had a plan of isolating ourselves a bit from the boiling soup - to focus on us, be in nature, read books and on projects we have separate and together. So this is perfect. Its such magical nature here, lots of waterfalls, the ocean is crystal clear, you can smell the flowers. Yesterday my man experimented his way to the perfect recipe for gluten free vegan pancakes - after getting inspired at the food market the other day. So delicious. There is something special with pancakes - something I can really crave. And after a full day of delicious eating & love making we felt like going to a waterfall. Life on a stick <3

Hongkong's South China Morning Post has a safe article (Jan. 9) on Thailands Chanthaburi. Highlights include waterfalls:
'The entrance to the Namtok Phlio National Park is just beyond. Having parked outside the ticket kiosk, I pay 200 baht (US$6) to enter the 130 square kilometres (50 square miles) or so of protected forest.
A path along a mountain stream passes signs warning of wild boar, Asian mongoose and black bears; a pyramid-like stupa – a Buddhist shrine – built by King Rama V in memory of Queen Sunanda Kumariratana, who drowned in the Chao Phraya river in 1880; and a moss-coated chedi – a Thai Buddhist monument – dating back to 1876.
Thais are bathing in the pool below the epic waterfall that shares the park’s name.

'More than US$8.8 million is being spent to improve infrastructure, including construction of a road leading to Kaeng Nyui waterfall in the tourist hotspot of Vangvieng in Vientiane province.

Vangvieng district Governor Mr Bounchan Malavong said construction of the road to Kaeng Nyui waterfall will begin soon and will take 24 months to complete.
...
The existing road to the Kaeng Nyui waterfall will be paved over a distance of 6 kilometres and will be 6 metres wide. A parking area, shops, and sidewalks will be built.
The construction of a road and a bridge on the west side of Vangvieng district will involve a double layer of asphalt over a distance of 26-kilometres and a road width of 6 metres.
Drainage will be improved, an existing bridge will be repaired, and a reinforced concrete bridge 80 metres long and 11.6 metres wide will be built across the Nam Xong river'.

Then the same source from nearly a year ago (Jan. 18, 2022):

'The well-known Tad Yeuang waterfall in Pakxong district, Champassak province, has been recognised with an Asean sustainable tourism award, which will be presented to provincial officials at a ceremony to be held in Cambodia.
The award was given in acknowledgement of successful tourism development around the waterfall, in ways that are sustainable. Tad Yeuang waterfall is popular with visitors because of the stunning scenery that surrounds it, while the everyday life of local residents can also be observed.

Provincial authorities have encouraged people living near the waterfall to grow organic vegetables for sale to visitors and are promoting aspects of local culture in the hope of generating more income for local residents.

Champassak is well endowed with places of interest, both nature-based and historical, and no one should miss a visit to this scenic region during their stay in Laos.
The province has 216 officially-designated tourist sites, including 116 natural, 60 cultural and 40 historical places of interest, but only 20 have any visitor facilities.

Vietnamtravel has an article (Jun. 12) on secretive waterfalls around the city of Nha Trang. Some though are actually huge entertainment complexes (Yangbay), so not so secretive then?

Vietnamplus (Aug. 16) spots a waterfall-now for something different subject:

'The Vietnam Post Corporation launched a set of stamps featuring famous waterfalls in Vietnam on August 15, aiming to promote the country's scenic landscapes to the public.

The article also provides more background to the four waterfalls.

AsianewsNetwork has an article (May 18) on environmental protection in Cambodia (is this not a contradiction?):

'Recently, Sreysor spent 10 days travelling to the waterfall called Chay 100 – ominously called “Death Falls” by some of the members of nearby villages – on her latest adventure exploring Cambodia’s wilds.
Chay 100 is located in the middle of the deep forest of the Cardamom Mountains, bordering Koh Kong and Pursat provinces, and it is reached by travelling from Khnong Phsa in Kampong Speu.
“We aimed to find the waterfall called Chay 100,” she says. “I heard old people say that there was a beautiful high waterfall hidden out in the middle of the forest. So we wanted to find out if it was true and if we could find an easy way for eco-tourists to visit the area.”

Khmer Times (Jul. 12) reports on a 'hidden' waterfall:

'Hoang Waterfall was at one time inaccessible, home to only a few hermits and wildlife. Yet, it is now a popular tourist destination in the Tboung Khmum province, which was split from Kampong Cham in 2013. However, it is still quite daunting to reach the waterfall even today.
It is home to a cliff-hiking area with dozens of square metres of cascading waterfalls with beautiful views and the air, sweet'.

Finally, again the Khmer Times (Jul. 19) with some better news for some waterfall chasers:

'6 tourists had a lucky escape after they were trapped in a tree by heavy floods at a waterfall for over an hour.
Heavy flooding at Thmar Kral Waterfall Natural Resort in Chiep Commune, Teuk Phos District on the afternoon of July 17, 2022, left the tourists trapped on a tree on an island in the waterfall'.

When I was with her in Bali, I noticed that she was constantly in awe of our surroundings and what we were doing.⁣⁣⁣
I’d just come from my suburban home in Melbourne but Saya had just landed from Maui in Hawaii. Honestly, I was surprised that she was constantly commenting on the beautiful trees, the delicious company and the days we were spending. I expected her to be used to all of this! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
But when I mentioned this to her she said “no way, never. I’m so grateful that I get to live this life. I always remember that and I make sure I say “thank you universe, more please!”⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
I love that. I love that no matter how lush and exciting her life is, she never lets herself become jaded. When I really thought about it, I realised that this is the reason WHY and HOW she is living her best life. Because in every incredible moment she is grateful, and she is in awe. So of course, she attracts even more of this. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
Saya also shared with me that some people in your life will be ‘expanders’— people who expand what you believe to be possible in life. Saya is, and this experience was, an absolute expander for me. 💥⁣⁣⁣⁣

'Borikhamxay province will develop Tad Tontaen waterfall as a natural tourism site to attract more visitors after the Covid-19 pandemic and to upgrade facilities at the site.
The project is also aimed at increasing the income of the local people so that they can improve their lives.
A feasibility study for the project began recently, after an agreement was signed by officials of Borikhamxay province and the Somchanh Construction Company Limited last week.'

Na cultuur te hebben gesnoven in Ubud, zetten we onze reis verder door naar het noorden van Bali: Lovina. Hier zijn we een attractie voor de kids in de dorpjes. Iedereen zwaait als je langsrijdt en de kinderen willen allemaal een high five! Onderweg van Ubud naar Lovina rij je door de bergen en zijn er verschillende watervallen die je kunt bezoeken. That one time I went on a motorcycle adventure in northern Vietnam and competed with 60 people throughout 3 days. One of the challenges was to skinny dip near a waterfall. Getting naked wasn’t so hard, it was finding this dang waterfall. Such lovely memories. One day I’ll return.🇻🇳

RFA (Jan. 13) enlightens us with news on Southeast Asia's largest falls, on the border with southern Cambodia. Apparently there's a changing of the guard; or better said capitalism seems to be working:
'Authorities in Laos’ Champassak province have revoked the licenses of a Lao development firm for tourism projects around two waterfalls in the province so that a Hong Kong-based developer could take over.
In a Dec. 30 notice, Provincial Governor Bounthong Divixay approved the cancellation of licenses that were issued to a the Laos-based Yingsokxay Company in 2011 to build tourist facilities near the Khone Phapheng waterfall, the largest in Southeast Asia, and nearby Somphamith waterfall.
The decision also put an end to a 2012 agreement that allowed a business group to make tourism parks and collect admission fees for Khone Phapheng'.
State operated Vientiane Times (Jan. 28) though shortly later announced:

'Champassak cancels entry fees at two tourist sites.
Visitors to Khonphapheng waterfall and the nearby Somphamit Waterfall Park in Khong district, Champassak province, can now enter these areas free of charge.
The province’s administration office instructed the Ying Sokxay Company to end the sale of tickets to view the waterfall and enter Somphamit Waterfall Park beginning on January 23'.
Quite odd; the article continues:

'The reason for the suspension of entry fees was not made available.
Khonephapheng is one of Laos’ most popular tourist attractions and is a spectacular sight. It is the largest waterfall by water volume in South-east Asia. Due to its great power and steep descent, the waterfall renders this area of the Mekong unnavigable, before flowing peacefully south into Cambodia and Vietnam.
Champassak is well endowed with places of interest for the visitor, both nature-based and historical. No one should miss a visit to this scenic region during their stay in Laos.
...
Among the natural wonders are Khonphapheng, Tad Fan, Somphamit Waterfall Park and Tad Yeuang waterfalls, with activities ranging from adventure treks and ziplining to rest and recuperation in the lap of nature'.

The Lao government English language Vientiane Times has been going out and about, coming across a couple of waterfalls as it seems.
On Tad Phakxoyvoy (Jul. 15):
'This is a fascinating cascade located in an unusual natural setting in Nakhanthoung village, Xaythany district, about 40km from downtown Vientiane.
Its attraction lies in the fact that unlike most other waterfalls it plunges over boulders in two separate streams of water, which flow in parallel in a sharp descent over a broad expanse of rocks.
The waterfall is located within the 1,600-hectare Phou Khao Khuay National Bio-Diversity conservation area.
In the rainy season, the level of the water rises and the cascades become more dramatic.
The waterfall is very popular among local people and some foreigners also find their way here.

The waterfall can be reached by driving on Road No. 10 from Thangone village in Vientiane to Thoulakhom district in Vientiane province over a distance of about 40km. You then turn right to Nanokkhoum village and drive for a further 11km and turn right to get to the waterfall'.
And concerning Hadxaikhaoe:

'Many people were shocked to learn that there were waterfalls at the foot of the hills in the village of Kern, about 60 kilometres north of Vientiane.

The water was freezing cold but when I saw the colour of the water I just had to get in! 💦 The scenery in Vang Vieng is amazing, with striking limestone mountains and caves, blue lagoons and small villages to be discovered. The town is very laid back but back in the late 1990s it was actually a party town where excessive drinking, drugs and fatal accidents happened quite often. The government had to shut down most bars and activities in 2012 and since then Vang Vieng has reinvented itself as an eco-paradise. 🌿

Let's cross the southern border of Laos.

From the Phnom Penh Post (Jun. 27) an article on eco-tourism in the southwest of Cambodia with waterfalls nearby:
'Seeing the potential of Phnom Tobcheang ecotourism, Seang Makara, founder of tour group Cambodia Camping, set up their first tour package to the area in 2016.

..."Now I am preparing to set up a resort up there. In fact, today Phnom Tobcheang Community has one completed resort and four other resorts in construction.”

The community also offers a homestay ($3 per room for two people), breakfast ($2.50 per person), lunch ($3 per person) and dinner ($3 per person).

According to their website, a local guide costs $10 per day, renting a tractor costs $25 per day, hiring a motorbike costs $10 per day, a bicycle $5 per day, a boat trip at $5 per person and a tent is $5 per night.

To reach the community, travel down National Road 48 until you are 50m from Srae Ambel Bridge, at which point you turn right at the sign saying Hydroelectricity Plant Kirirom III. After two kilometres you then reach Longneth’s home, from where you will start trekking'.
There is actually quite a few articles concerning Cambodia's cascades. The Phnom Penh Post (Sep. 11):
'Khek Thuon is likely the first person visitors to the 30m tall Phnom Tbeng, or Thma, waterfall in Preah Vihear province’s Tbeng Meanchey natural heritage site.

The almost 30m uninterrupted waterfall offers stunning views, and streams running off provide refreshing bathing spots shaded under tall, lush trees.

Phnom Tbeng waterfall is 600m up Tbeng Meanchey Mountain – around 35km from Preah Vihear town.

Tourists tackling its stairs pass the Phnom Tbeng or Dombouk Khmao pagoda after around a kilometre.

After another kilometre, there is a choice of paths – one down to the bottom of the waterfall and another one heading to the top.
Whichever one they choose, the lower and upper streams are connected by a tunnel-like path beneath the waterfall.

The white cascade of water against the backdrop of the green vegetation covering the cliff walls make this the ideal spot to take photographs.

“People rather take selfies here than bathe. For bathing, they usually choose the upper stream, which is another 200m or 300m further up,” Thoun says, sitting on a rock while keeping an eye on his clients.

In timely agreement, a group of beaming young people coming down say that bathing in the upper stream was indeed a memorable experience.

Tbeng Meanchey in Preah Vihear province – covering 25,000ha across five districts: Kulen, Sangkum Thmei, Tbeng Meanchey, Preah Vihear town and Roveang – was listed as a natural heritage site in 2016.

Around 280km from Phnom Penh, Phnom Tbeng waterfall is reached by taking National Road 6, before turning north onto National Road 62 in Kampong Thom’s province’s Trapaing Russey commune.
Nearby Shinta Mani Wild has been included in Time Magazine's World's Greatest Places list as reported by Khmer Times (Sep. 4):
'At Shinta Mani Wild, the adventure begins before hotel guests even step onto the property. To get there, they’re whisked along a zip line over lush forests and waterfalls, after which they dismount for a drink at the reception’s Landing Zone Bar'.
Phnom Penh Post (Aug. 9) reports on a developed waterfall in Battambang province:
'The relaxation begins as soon as you see the blossoming yellow flowers lining the road leading up to the mango plantation.

Passing through a large entrance with a sign saying “Welcome to Mango Plantation Waterfall Resort”, visitors drive down a wide road that dissects rows of thousands of mango trees dominating the landscape of Battambang province’s Samlot district.

The main attraction at Chamkar Svay Waterfall Resort, as it is known in Khmer, is the river running through it, where visitors sit in gazebos eating and relaxing along its banks.

“This resort attracts people since it is not developed. They love swimming and eating on mats, as well as relaxing until dusk before they go home,” Monn Mika, 52, the resort’s owner, told The Post.

“I initially began planting mango trees without thinking about creating a resort. But with the mountainous water flow I thought it could be a tourism attraction. So I began developing it step-by-step until it started attracting many people.”

Situated next to 87ha of land that after two years is entirely cultivated with mango trees, Chamkar Svay Waterfall Resort now welcomes hundreds of visitors daily who bathe in the river that flows from Chambang Mountain.

Phnom Penh Post (May 23) again and another waterfall, this time in the province of Ko Kong:
'Situated in a suburb of Khemarak Phoumin city is a 20m waterfall, which runs down into a huge pond filled with fish as swimmers hurtle into the water from a rope swing tied to a tree.

But what attracts many people to Ta Chat waterfall is the unique mode of transportation offered at the site – a modestly built funicular train to bring you to the top of the waterfall.

Though funiculars are very common in many countries around the world, Ta Chat waterfall’s is the only one in Cambodia. The journey takes three minutes or so.

“This was the initiative of our big boss to construct the mountain elevator in order to ease the walk to the top, especially for older people,” says Darng Deam, manager of the resort.
The big boss Deam is referring to is Tea Vinh, a navy commander in the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces [!], who developed the area under the name Tourist Community Area of Ta Chat.

The resort has a 20m waterfall, a 5m waterfall, as well as shallow water rapids for those who wish to bathe in quieter surroundings.

“During the dry season, the waterfall flows very little water into the pool. April and May, the very hot months, have the least water and are the lowest season for tourists,”34-year-old Deam says.

“But with the recent rains, the resort is looking fresh and the water has started flowing into the pool and swimmers will start to come gradually. In the rainy season we see a lot of water flow from June to January, we normally welcome at least 300 to 500 people per day.”
Khmer Times (Nov. 1) for a change:

'Hoang Waterfall was at one time in inaccessible jungle in Kampong Cham, home to only a few hermits and wildlife. Yet, it is now a popular tourist destination of the Tbong Khmom province, which was split from Kampong Cham in 2013. However, it is still quite tough to reach the waterfall even today.
To reach the destination, located on the border of Memot district and Tambe district, you have to travel some 90 km east of the provincial town. Leading to Hoang Waterfall is a serpentine dirt path which branches off from the National Road Number 8 and very desolate. So it is wise to go on a group tour to avoid getting lost.

Time flies and soon it is time to leave Hoang Waterfall. You have to leave before sunset because it will be another long way back, and you may not have time to see the breathtaking view from the hill when the sun sinks into the horizon unless you are bent on camping. No matter how upset you are with this: do not forget to bring your rubbish back with you because there is no rubbish bin here. To pollute such as a beautiful place is litter-ally sinful'.

'It is 8km from Srae Ken village to a waterfall named Prek Snar at the mountain’s foot – a journey that takes more than two hours for tourists on a tractor driving down an unpaved road.

Muth Pech drove his tractor with a large family from Thpong district and carried a speaker on his shoulder playing loud music.
“We came for bathing and lunch together then we are going back home,” he said, as he took the family to Prek Snar waterfall, which has a slope resembling a water slide that plunges into a 1.2m pool.
Soth is also a good chef, and he prepares lunch in the jungle with basic equipment.
“Tourists order food with us, such as two chickens for six people, and we cook them in the forest with condiments, ingredients and rice. Normally we do chicken sour soup and grilled chicken that is enough for several people,” he said.
Soth takes his guests on a more than two-hour walk after they get off the tractor.
“From the lower stream, we visit Smounh cave where we have installed beds to relax. We also visit Bak Kanhchherl, Steung Kroul and Korki creeks, which all have cascades. If people want to see all the waterfalls, spending just one day is not enough,” he said'.

Bangkok Post (Aug. 12) reports on the problems faced by monsoonal deluges:
'Part of the popular Erawan waterfall in Si Sawat district of Kanchanaburi has been temporarily closed after heavy downpours damaged a path to higher tiers, but the access to all levels is expected to be restored on Tuesday.
Porayut Waiwong, chief of the Erawan National Park, said on Monday that days of heavy rain had pounded the waterfall and damaged the path between tier 6 and tier 7. The steep, rocky path had become muddy and slippery, making it unsafe for visitors.
On Sunday, several tourists were injured on the muddy path, prompting the national park to temporarily close the two levels'.

In quite improbable news (quotes from the Guardian, Oct. 6), 11 elephants have died due to a fall near a waterfall in central Thailand:
'Wildlife officials in Thailand have discovered the carcasses of five more wild elephants downstream from a waterfall where the bodies of six other elephants were found on Saturday.

The animals were originally thought to have died while trying to save each other after falling into a waterfall at Khao Yai national park, but a drone being used to investigate the deaths later identified five further carcasses, including that of a three-year-old calf.

Only two elephants in the herd are known to have survived the fall at the 200-metre-high Haew Narok waterfall'.
Waterfalls also are a danger to humans.
CNN reports (Nov. 15) on a French death on Samui. The waterfall in question (Na Muang) also claimed a victim back in August (Euroweekly, Aug. 1).
Btw, Malaysiafaces the same problems. The New Strait Times (Sep. 26) reports on a waterfall death near Kota Kinabulu as well as another in Selangor (Aug. 7), while on Sep. 7 another death is reported from Bentong (Pahang). Worldofbuzz (Aug. 12) notes a death at Sungai Lembing (Pahang).
No lessons learnt then?

'Thailand's Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation announced on Monday that six waterfalls at Khao Luang National Park in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province would be closed from Monday until further notice'.
Thaiger (Aug. 18) mentions a couple of other waterfall closures:

'Doi Suthep-Pui National Park officials in the north of Thailand have closed the Mae Sa and Tad Mork waterfalls after heavy rainfall have caused high water flows and slippery paths “that may endanger tourists”.
Openings then. Phuketnews (Aug. 7) notes an expansion of forest areas falling under the national park authority. These very often include waterfalls.
'The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced that Thailand has added five new national parks around the country during 2016 to 2019
...
From 2016 to 2019, Thailand added a total of 331,952 rai (53,120 hectares) in additional forest area to its national park system, the TAT noted in its release.
“This brings the total forested area in Thailand to over 102,488 million rai, representing 31.68% of all area nationwide. It also signals the progress made in adding more protected forest area under the jurisdiction of Thailand’s fast-growing national park system,” it added'.
Protection in action. The Bangkok Post (Oct. 18) has a look at eyesores at waterfall sites in the south of the kingdom:
'Another concrete platform has been built into a waterfall in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, prompting officials to order vendors to remove the encroachment by Saturday.
The Chom Rom Strong-Jit Porpiang Tan Thudjarit on Friday posted pictures of the concrete block at Tha Phae waterfall in Khao Luang National Park in Chang Klang district and called out park officials over their failure to crack down on encroachers'.

Next adventure = scootering to Pai! We stopped at Mok Fa waterfall on the way. Even the murky water didn’t stop Drew. ➡️ to be 🌙’d. 🙈🙊#skinnydipper•Here’s what happened after this photo was taken...So Pai is about 3 hours from Chiang Mai. Sounds easy right? Well this was our first scooter experience and we didn’t do much research regarding the road to Pai. Come to find out, the mountain pass has freakin’ 762 turns! 😳 Which we did in the dark, in the rain, and in shorts and tank tops (because we were coming from Chiang Mai which is hot 🥵 and not knowing we were going to be climbing up a mountain in the dark 😂). Also, the drivers here have no hesitation for popping over in your lane EVEN AROUND CORNERS. Needless to say, we saw quite a few trucks in ditches. New. One of the best recent features on waterfalls has come from Burma. Fontiermyanmar.net (Dec 16, 2018) had the following special:

Every now and then the Vientiane Times (yes Laos) has a focus on waterfalls and the need to get tourists to seek them out.
This (May 14) on northern Bokeo:
'Visitors who like spectacular natural attractions shouldn’t miss an excursion to the waterfall in Huaylom village, Tonpheung district, Bokeo province, where new facilities have been built to make the experience more interesting.
Head of the Tonpheung district Information, Culture and Tourism Office, Mr Sisa-art Koumphon, told Vientiane Times yesterday that these services at the waterfall opened very recently.
It is hoped that the waterfall, now that it is more easily accessible, will attract more visitors and create extra revenue for the local community. The waterfall now has huts for relaxing under and several homestays that enable people to stay overnight, he added.
Besides exquisitely fresh air, visitors to the area can enjoy the hospitality of the local Lahou ethnic group. Traditional foods are available throughout the district, as are local artworks and handicrafts. Cultural performances and displays also dot the calendar year.
The price of homestays is 30,000 kip (about US$4) a night per person. With food, the price goes up an additional 35,000 kip, Mr Sisa-art said.
Huaylom waterfall is located about 30 km from the main town in Tonpheung district, and the road is passable in both the dry and wet seasons.
Many people who visit the waterfall also choose to drive a further 22 km to the beautiful Pongloc hot spring in Meung district.
Mr Sisa-art said Bokeo province has many other places of interest like the Nam Kan protected area in Toub village, Huayxai district.
Here there are some great adventure activities. The lushness of the landscape makes trekking really rewarding and there is ziplining and treehouses to relax in as well.
Huayxai district also has old temples on top of extraordinary cliffs like at Souvanna Khomkham.
Bokeo has colourful activities in all months of the year that will be of interest to visitors, such as the kapok flower festival. Some of the best local foods include khao laeng feun (noodles with chilli sauce) and khao soy tad (noodles fried with sugar sauce or honey) is a dessert favourite'.

"The authorities recently inspected the area around the waterfall and found that many people from different provinces and abroad are interested in visiting the site even though it is still not fully developed, she added.

'If you want to visit an untouched natural place, even it requires trekking for hours, you may want to try Stung Ta Sok waterfall, located between Koh Kong and Pursat provinces.
Stung Ta Sok waterfall. Trekking between Chhay Broy waterfall and Stung Ta Sok waterfall takes one and a half hour to two hours. Pha Lina'.
The same trip probably lead to another write up, this time concerning the Chhay Broy (PPP, Feb. 7):
'The once spectacular Chhay Broy waterfall used to be among Pursat province’s largest and deepest cascades at 50m high and 20m wide, attracting tourists with its beautiful forest landscape, large pool and abundant wildlife.
But all this changed when a Chinese-funded 120-megawatt hydroelectric power dam was built in 2010, as the water flow feeding Chhay Broy significantly slowed as a result of the Stung Atai hydroelectric dam sitting upstream.

“In rainy season, there is plenty of flowing water, but this is also very dangerous as we do not know when the dam will open its gates and flood us downstream. Tourists continue to visit and bathe in the waters. But most challenging for us is that the dam opening could claim lives at anytime [by washing people away]."

'From the top you can look out across to large trees on the opposite bank. The view of the waterfall is pretty stunning from the top. The water cascades from a gentle pool at the top and drops down at least 10ms to a larger pool below.
I head for the steps that lead me to the bottom pool. I was the only one there, and this made the experience that little bit more special. The rock cavern of the waterfall provides shelter around the perimeter and seems to lower the temperature a few degrees – perfect for the hot weather of Arpil'.

Back to the days we swam and had showers in epic waterfalls that we had all to ourselves ✨ it feels good to get out of cloth, material & covering up our bodies, it lets us breathe and be as we are, getting some sunshine rays on where it don’t hit 😂 (to majority of society who judge someone/people who express themselves through nudity not modesty) ya clearly don’t require to run around outside in circles naked chanting and advising the public you’re a hippy but truth be told who doesn’t chill around the house or with their close mates naked or shower or get changed or have sex or sleep naked like you’d be lying to yourself mate no need to make it taboo or sexualise nudity when it isn’t the intention nor the right moment. For me personally comfort is necessary if I wanna be clothes-free hahahah like gluten free. If it’s with a person or people I vibe with there can’t be awkward or judgmental energy because quite frankly that’s gross. The Bangkok Post (Dec. 13) heads down south to Nakhon Si Thammarat

'Located 807km from Bangkok and about 30km or a 30 minutes' drive from Muang district, Phrom Lok Community has numerous natural attractions, local food and a variety of fruits for tourists to enjoy. A must-see in the community is Phrom Lok Waterfall visited by several royals. A team of designers from Bangkok University was invited to decorate and present local dishes in an interesting way and renovate homestays in 14 local communities, including Phrom Lok. Selected social media volunteers were invited to tour the communities and post their photos and comments'.

The Bangkok Post (Nov. 1) takes a look at Chat Trakan (Phitsanulok):

'The other day while waiting out a heavy rain, my thought somehow drifted to Namtok Chat Trakan National Park of Phitsanulok province. Its namesake waterfalls are among those that often become lifeless in the dry season. I still remember that in 2016, the falls had to be closed to visitors from late March to the end of April simply because there was so little water. With plenty of rainfall this year, I expected that Chat Trakan waterfalls were likely to be at their best. So last weekend my friends and I made a trip to the park. Not only were we not disappointed, but the park amazed us with some pleasant surprises.
We arrived at the park in the evening just before the checkpoint was closed. We quickly pitched our tents at the camping ground and went to sleep early, partly because we were tired from spending the entire day on the road and partly because we wanted to wake up fresh the next day ready for the hike to all seven levels of the falls'.

The Bangkok Post (Dec. 27):

'When tourists go to the Unesco World Heritage town of Luang Prabang in Laos, many immediately think of Buddhist temples, such as Phra That Phou Si, and the simple yet beautiful way of life evinced in traditions like sticky-rice almsgiving. As a matter of fact, Luang Prabang has numerous natural attractions, such as waterfalls and Tham Ting (Pak Ou Cave) for visitors to enjoy. One of the most popular spots is Kuang Si Waterfall. Nestled in a tropical forest about 30km from the town centre, Kuang Si Waterfall has water all year round. In the rainy season, from April until mid-October, tthe water is deep green and people can hear the sound of the falling water from a long distance. In the dry season, from November until March, the water is bluish due to the presence of minerals such as copper.
A large number of tourists, both Lao and foreign, enjoy themselves at the waterfall. Many like to swim and soak themselves in the fall's natural pools. Jumping must be done with extreme caution while diving is prohibited there. Wearing bikinis and very revealing swimwear should be avoided'.

Odd this last sentence, there's nothing within Lao culture which would require this advice.

The Phnom Penh Post (Dec. 21) has an article on a lesser known waterfall in Pursat province:

'Chhay Roka Waterfall, with its beautiful wild flower strewn waterfall and its natural swimming pool, is fast becoming a popular spot for both local and foreign tourists, and its isolated location down small, winding paths means that motorbikes are the transport of choice for those who venture to this glorious location.

Located near Veal Veng district’s O’Som commune, situated in Pursat province, Chhay Roka Waterfall is a natural wonder estimated to be 40m high and 25m wide, with its swimming pool 2m deep.

“Visitors can hire motorbike from nearby villagers or a homestay guesthouse. They reach the area by passing though banana plantations and forested areas."

“It only takes one hour, but drivers can easily lose their way if they do not have experience, so we recommend a guide,” said homestay owner and local guide Noun Lim.

Lim is head of Osoam Community Centre and runs a homestay guesthouse situated on the villages’ famously cold lake.

He also acts as a local guide, helping tourists organise hiking and camping trips to the area’s many waterfalls, as well as wildlife spotting trips to Samkos Mountain (‘Ghost Mountain’).

“Most of our visitors are foreigners who wish to camp at waterfalls over night . . . tourists also enjoy trekking to see wild elephants, bison and bovine in the Ghost Mountain too,” Lim said.

Tourists who wish to visit this untouched waterfall must head along National Road 55, turning left at Veal Veng district’s Promouy Market until they reach O’Som commune. Sport-utility vehicles are recommended even during dry season'.

'A South Korean youth died Saturday after he jumped off the Datanla Waterfalls in Da Lat, local reports say.
Six other tourists who jumped before him are fine, the reports said.

A strange article from the Asia Times (Oct. 19):

'Videos of tourists and their guides at a waterfall that is off limits to the general public in a national park in Thailand have gone viral and angered officials.
Videos showing the Pong Ping Waterfall inside a restricted area in Khao Laem National Park in Kanchanaburi province went viral as they showed directions and details about how to get inside the no-go area of the park'.

The Vientiane Times (Jul. 24) looks at the natural potential of the nation:

A waterfall in Houn district of Oudomxay province has caught the eye of provincial tourism authorities who hope it will do the same for more visitors.
Officials of the provincial Information, Culture and Tourism Department said the waterfall cascades over several levels, each of them at a different heights ranging from six metres to 20 metres.
The waterfall is located at Katangya village and is known locally as Nam Haeng about 24 km from the urban centre of Houn. The verdant area has lots of natural plants and wildlife species and visitors can swim in a clean natural pool.

The Or Angkal waterfall is located in a yet-to-be-named village in Am Poum commune, Pich Chreada district, in Mondulkiri province. It is 10km from the Koh Nhek crossroad en route to the Bou Sra waterfall, or 20km from downtown Mondulkiri province.
It exemplifies the beauty of nature and is nearer than the Bou Sra waterfall which is popular for tourists travelling from Sen Monorom town. Unfortunately, despite its beauty, the Or Angkal waterfall is not well known or popular among tourists travelling to the famous Bou Sra waterfall, and hence, they often bypass it.
This is despite the fact that it is located only some 100 meters from the Bou Sra road and the Ou Fly resort where tourists in their vicinity can get down from their vehicles and walk just a few minutes before coming to it.
Ou Fly resort manager Ieng Sithol, 46, who lives near Or Angkal said travellers are unaware that the area has beautiful nature, that’s not inferior to the Bou Sra waterfall. Only people living near the area visit it. But even they just spend a short time there before leaving.
Cheang Ra, 54, has a daughter who operates the Mak Meng Heng shop that sells groceries and food. It is located in the area leading to the waterfall. He says that mostly ethnic people visit the waterfall. “Tourists don’t know the place because there is no signboard to show its entry. The route to the waterfall is on private property too,” he says.
Ra says he plans to build a resting hut near the waterfall but is worried about the rapidly rising water when it rains. In the dry season, there is little water but even then, it is more than 10 meters deep.
With regards to the promotion and development of the Or Angkal waterfall as a resort to attract tourists now going to the Bou Sra waterfall, Ngin Sovimean, the director of Mondulkiri Provincial Department of Tourism tells The Post that there are plans afoot to do this.
“While Or Angkal is not the only the waterfall in the area, the fact is that while we have plans to develop it, we lack the necessary funds to do so. We need investors to cooperate and develop such tourist sites,” he says.
He adds: “We are happy and welcome any investor who wishes to help develop the tourism sector. We are not just thinking of resorts but even guesthouses and hotels'.

The South China Morning Post notes (Dec. 27, 2017) that over the border in Vietnam there seems some leeway as to accept naked swimming:

Nejhorsi je mestsky provoz, na dalnici uz se jede samo. Trochu je nam jasny, ze budem litovat, ze sme se nenamazaly opalovakem a ze jedinej dlouhej rukav, co mame s sebou, je sustakova bunda. Zastavujem u na mape vyznacenyho mista jmenem Elephant springs a moc nevime, co od toho cekat. Ma to byt koryto reky uprostred narodniho parku Bach Ma. No jsme neprijemne prekvapeny, ze je z toho udelana turisticka atrakce v podobe igelitem ohranicenych bazenku v korytu one reky. S hnusnou sochou slona uprostred jednoho z bazenku. Nechybeji samozrejme vtiravy Vietnamci vnucujici koupaci vesty, nafukovaci kruhy a podobny hovadiny. Domca je otravena a chce jit zpet, ja rikam, ze se pujdu mrknout o kus nahoru a nachazim super skrytou lagunu v korytu reky, kde nikdo neni. Protoze je asi tak tisic stupnu, tak tam rovnou na evicku skacu. Pak se vracim pro otravenou Domcu a dotahnu ji tam. Uz neni tak otravena a skace tam taky. Obcas staci udelat par kroku dal od nejvic turistickych mist k objeveni prave krasy. Okusujou nas mini rybky a malem se zabijem na kluzkych kamenech, ale nelitujem. Osvezeny mirime zpet k silnici, kde davame super obed. Crispy duck a pork ribs primo z grilu. S plnymi zaludky znovu nasedame na skutr a mirime na Hai Van Pass. Jeden z nejkrasnejsich horskych prusmyku na svete, v jehoz nejvyssim bode jsou zbytky vietnamskych valecnych bunkeru. Uz tady citime, jak mame spaleny stehna a ramena. Ale vyhled 10/10. Az na turisty. Ale to by nebyl Vietnam. Это меня дико бесило всегда потому, что ничего я не брила, а волосы тоньше не становились. 😭Потом я перестала скитаться по салонам, потому, что появился жутко дорогой, но такой нежный известный всем салон на патриках и восковая эпиляция перестала быть для меня пыткой. Там правда очень быстро и очень не больно! Как? Не знаю! Несколько лет я была с ними, но потом мы закончили свои дурацкие офисные будни, а свои проекты ещё не начали и соотвественно деньги не зарабатывались, а только тратились. Поэтому я заказала воск домой и эпиляцию мне делал Лёша. Очень эротичный момент кстати! 🔥 Когда деньги снова стали зарабатываться, я вернулась в салон, не смотря на всю эротичность процесса занимал он у нас с мужем 2 часа! 😅В скором времени мы уехали в Латвию и в нашем маленьком городке я даже нашла шугаринг, но опять же за какие-то дикие деньги! Шугаринг для меня оказался ближе не только по этическим соображениям, но и по ощущениям. Когда мы приезжаем в Москву я больше не иду отдавать дикие деньги на патрики, а иду в салон шугаринга, к счастью по Москве их развелось огромное количество и это в три раза дешевле! Эффект одинаковый! Самое сложное с эпиляцией оказалось в Азии!⬇️

Sometimes intuition doesn’t make any rational sense. Sometimes we want to do things and go places for what seems like no meaningful reason. Like for example, sometimes all ya wanna do is hike down a river and go skinny dipping near a relatively crowded waterfall… 😏🙈😝😍 (love you @kate_decoste) My decision to come to Bali this summer was a somewhat spontaneous and very intuitively guided decision. People asked me, “why Bali?” and I legitimately couldn’t answer them with anything except “I don’t know, I just feel called to go there.” And two months later, it feels like a lifetime has passed on this vortex of an island. A lifetime packed full of transformation, learning, healing, exploring, meeting awesome people, facing deep inner challenges, receiving huge insights and inspiration, and feeling more love for myself and life than I ever have before. Few words can describe my journey with the beautiful spirit of Bali. She is beautiful, intense, playful and incredibly loving. She gave me exactly what I was looking for, even though I didn’t even know what that was when I got here. And I feel like a completely different person than I was when I arrived. She gave me a profoundly deeper connection with myself, immense healing, reignited my passion for creating and giving, taught me about the utter beauty and necessity of solid community, and so much more 🙏🏼✨🌸🌻Tonight I head back to LA. 'A group of about 1,000 families living in Siem Reap province’s Phnom Kulen National Park will be relocated to prevent them from continuing an environmentally detrimental trend of clearing land, building homes, selling and repeating, the environment minister said on Thursday.
The villagers have “recently” taken up occupation in the park without land titles, invoking fear that they will destroy the popular tourist attraction—Kulen mountain has a waterfall, Angkorian temples and an ancient rusty-red laterite stone staircase—with their waste and continued resettlement, Say Sam Al said.

Cambodia, nature, protection and waterfalls are always in a quandary. Whenever development takes place to allow tourists and residents to visit nature in it's purest form, it usually comes at the expense of nature, thus resulting in a loss of beauty, which was the reason to invite tourists to enjoy in the first place.

Back in 2009, I visited Thmor Roong (O'Bak Rotes) halfway Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Conveniently located with fair access, back then it already experienced considerable degradation and overuse.

Now years later, it seems that the answer for the future is to let money talk. Which I suppose will mean access to cut off for locals and less fortunate.

Shinta Mani Wild as it is slated, plans to muscle itself in and establish a luxury camp experience. It's own web site:

'Set along 1.5 kilometers of river and waterfalls, Bensley has set out to create his most ambitious luxury camp project to date. 16 100sqm, custom designed tents are perched over the swift moving waters and waterfalls, providing a view and experience unlike any other resort in Asia. Each tent has been meticulously designed to invoke the feeling of what it would have been like to be on a luxury safari in the jungles of Cambodia with Jacky O’.

The Phnom Penh Post (Aug. 17) adds:

'Shinta Mani’s bid to provide a super luxurious camping experience will target both local and international guests. But it won’t be for those on a shoestring budget with the luxury tents in the resort set to cost $1,500 per night'.

Some Thai news. The Bangkok Post (May 3) had a feature on south Thailand Trang province featuring waterfalls.

'During the hot-weather season, one thing that can cool you down is to dip yourself in water. In Trang, there are at least two waterfalls locals like to visit, both located not far from the city.

The site [Bo Ched Luk waterfall, or Seven-Ponds waterfall] is not fully developed to be an attraction, and visitors must have permission and a guide, he noted.
Another popular waterfall among locals in Trang is Kachong. It is located in the Khao Chong Botanical Garden in Na Yong, about 20km east of the city.
The waterfall is easy to reach. It is located only 500m from the car park, and about 1km from the headquarters of the botanical garden'.

'A British tourist miraculously survived a 260ft drop from a waterfall in Thailand - only four miles from where EastEnders star Paul Nicholls suffered an almost identical ordeal and nearly died.

It emerged yesterday that the actor had plunged down the Khun Si falls [on Ko Samui] and smashed his leg, leaving him unable to move and seek help for several days before he was eventually found and rescued'.

'Vietnam’s capital city has a reputation for being a pretty conservative place. So it might come as a surprise for some to know that there is an entire community of adult men who like to skinny-dip near Hanoi's city center.
