While scientists around the world are pressuring their local governments to restrict the use of cell phones by children, the U.S. does nothing. Go to any mall, movie theater, or school and you’ll see young masses all with one ear to the newest cell phones on the market. The brain of a child is constantly developing, undergoing changes and obtaining more information in a few short years at a rate that won’t be matched for the rest of their lives. Add to this the radiation from cell phone exposure through the inner ear and it creates a laboratory with unknown consequences. Studies over the last five years have shown that the rate at which children develop autism is concurrent with increased cell phone use. style="line-height: normal;">On May 23, 2008, The Larry King Show’s topic was “Are Cell Phones Dangerous?” CNN Medical Director, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, was very supportive of the fact that cell phones could be dangerous. Guests on the program that evening included Johnnie Cochran’s widow and his neurosurgeon. Johnnie Cochran had died from a brain tumor three years ago. At that time, his daughter had attributed his death to his cell phone use. The tumor which killed him was located behind the ear the he had used while talking on his phone.

Near the end of the program, Dr. Gupta made two suggestions which he felt would decrease the potential risk from cell phone usage:

Use a case on your hip to hold your phone.

Use a wired headset to keep the cell phone away from the ear.

Both of these suggestions are wrong!

The reason why carrying a cell phone on the hip isn’t any safer than carrying it in your pocket is the fact that it transmits radiation directly into the body while your cell phone is on. For men, studies done by the American Society for Reproductive Health have shown that this radiation affects men’s fertility and can lower sperm count. For pregnant women, carrying a cell phone this way may affect the unborn child’s future behavioral patterns, according to a recent UCLA study. What should be done is when the cell phone is not being used, shut it off.

As for wired headsets, studies in Europe by one of the most influential consumer protection organizations concluded that wired headsets increase radiation into the ear by as much as 300%! Bluetooth devices are nearly as dangerous since the signal from the phone transmits radiation directly into the ear. The solution to this is the WaveShield. We’ve taken the wired headset and replaced the wire going into the ear with an air tube, just like a stethoscope. This transmits only air and sound into the, ZERO RADIATION.

CBS Early Show: Cell Phones' The study has shown that the regular use of cell phones by pregnant women increases the likelihood that the developing child will suffer from behavioral problems. Studies linking autism to cell phone use have shown that rates of autism have increased concurrently to the increased use of the devices. The studies also suggest that EMR (electromagnetic radiation) from wireless devices coupled with environmental and genetic factors may increase the chance of autism.

See: http://www.ph.ucla.edu/pr/newsitem052108.html http://www.enn.com/health/article/37306

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://waveshield.blogspot.com/2008/06/pregnant-put-that-cell-phone-down.html' title='Pregnant? Beginning in January of 2000 the first Wave shield product for cell phones was produced, series 1000, sent to an FCC listed lab for testing on phones and the results showed the Wave shield 1000 blocked up to 97% of the radiation from entering the soft tissue of the ear where all the nerves and blood cells are located. This was followed by Series 2000 gold mesh which testing proved blocks up to 99% of the radiation from entering the inner ear.
Waveshield 3000 for cordless phones followed when reports showed that cordless phones were of equal or a greater risk than cell phones. Testing proved that series 3000 blocked up to 97% of the radiation from entering the ear as well. When a call comes in the radiation comes in via the antenna, half of which goes into space, the rest forms around the side of the head where the phone is held against the ear. Wave shield does not block radiation from the antenna or body of the phone. The focus is only on radiation entering the inner ear because the ear is the highest absorption rate of radiation in the body and most of the reports of tumors and health problems have been directly behind the ear.
Additional testing was done in Germany, Russia and Holland all proving the Wave shield did exactly as it claimed in protecting individuals from potential health risks.
Over the past 5 years there have been many other products , both shields, energy absorbing discs etc. that made invalid claims about the effectiveness of their
products.
The FCC either sued or forced most of them from the market but not Wave shield.
In fact Wave shield has never been asked to stop selling in the U.S.A. because testing proved what was claimed. There are still a few “phone decorations” being sold on the internet as low as 49 cents on E-bay.
Wave shield is sold world wide through distributors to retail stores and to people in the medical and health field. www.waveshield.com
New products have since been introduced to protect the public.
The regular headsets that are used and in some cases given free by phone manufacturers are 3 times more dangerous as the wire leading to the ear bud acts like an aerial and magnifies the radiation. Wave shield replaced the wire with a tubular system like listening to a movie on an air line so only air and sound goes to the head through the hollow tube , zero radiation.
An independent website www.cprnews.com has over 130 reports and studies on cell phone dangers posted under world news.
Although the jury is still out on the long term effects of cell phone use, Wave shield has proven and tested products that reduce the potential health risk.
