Summer of 1978. Harry and Carl just drove in with their bus. Classic 70's camping style. Notice the heat exchange fridge and Coleman coolbox. Radio on the hydro drum table and good old Muskoka chairs at the beach. Yes these guys were cool, and yes they were bikers. It was not just about fishing. The windsurfing craze was at the very beginning and lasted until the mid 80's. Photos will come soon. Did they....wind surf? You bet. Stay tuned.

Brendas photos.
Brenda and Gloria drive all the way up from Florida each year. They spend their summer at Wawanaisa and love to hike, relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. Brenda started to take photos of the world around her. She takes on a special way to see things. There is more to that Georgian Bay feeling than just the rock, water and trees. She is on to something more. More to come soon.

A new horse friend for Max and Moe came today from Apple Valley farm near Sundridge, Ontario.
Trotting ahead of Moe in this photo, the two are just getting aquainted. Parker, who just joined us today, is a Canadian horse. The history of the Canadian Horse is a fascinating piece of our Canadian history. Almost extinct in the 70's. Truly a rare breed, the Canadian Horse made a comeback in the 80's. It is one of the strongest, fastest, hardiest, horse anywhere. More details in days to come. The Canadian could win races, pull logs and stay outside during -40 with blowing snow. Tough and calm, truly Canadian. yeah!

Welcome to Wawanaisa Blog.
For starters here are some facts and numbers for those folks who must know. The ice moved out March 28 this year.
Water level remains the same pretty much from last year.
Over the month of March, Georgian Bay received 119% of normal precipitation, only 69% of normal outflow. Water level remains at 39cm below long time average, but is up by 1cm over one year ago... there you go.

We are getting the place ready for another season. We built a new dock last year and cleaned out our beach. There is some valuable fish habitat around our waterfront and area. Bass nesting sites were identified by local biologists with the help of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the department of Fisheries. Bass fishing has improved, a sign of recent changes in habitat protection and predator control measures may be working to improve the fisheries.

Konrad thought there was just enough snow to cruise along the cottages and get some training in for his upcoming racing season.
The snow was wet but the glide was acceptable.
Everything is almost ready for winter now, lines are drained, blankets are all washed and put away for another year.

Jan Phillip from Germany loved to watch frogs jumping on shore as he followed the shoreline closely. Loons were diving right under the boat. "Toll, wow" he said.
