A Simple Guide for Focusing On Revenue Generating Activities

1. Identify the revenue generating activities in your online business. These are activities that are going to generate cash instantly, activities that are going to provide you with direct opportunities to grow your business, and activities that are going to bring more customers into your business.

Specifically, these activities may look like: pitching to your list, creating a product, submitting a proposal, hosting “live events” (like a webinar), or hosting a sale on your site. 2. Establish your revenue generating goals for the week. If you’re going to arrive at a specific destination, you need to map out how you’re going to get there. The same goes for making sure that you are doing work that is actually lending itself to making more money. Decide which activities you need to do at the beginning of the week, so that you can set your mind to your desired outcome. Your intention and action may not always align. Consciously connect your intention and action so that you do work worth doing.

3. Outline each and every step you need to take to achieve that revenue generating goal. Avoid feeling overwhelmed by whatever you’ve set out to accomplish by breaking things down into micro steps. Setting yourself up to succeed goes a long way in helping your level of productivity. Once you break your objectives down into bite sized chunks, you’ll be ready to rock n’ roll!

4. Block out uninterrupted time to work on completing a specific step or number of steps. Now that you know exactly what you need to do, make the time to do it. Schedule “sacred” time where you can focus on doing the work that you need to do. If you don’t schedule that time, and treat it as sacred, other “opportunities” (to procrastinate) may tempt you out of doing the work that needs to be done. Put it in your calendar, write it down on paper, and commit to yourself and your online business.

5. At the end of each time block assess what you’ve accomplished to determine whether or not you need to modify or maintain the sequence of steps that you have set forth. It’s important to celebrate what you accomplished to stay encouraged. And it’s equally important to acknowledge where you’ve gotten off track. If you truly want results in your online business, then you have to measure what you’ve done so that you can decide what you need to do next.

Rinse and repeat this cycle, and watch your online business blossom.

Ultimately you will only develop a sustainable online business when you learn to focus on revenue generating activities, or as Mr. Gilkey would say “high value activities.” Unfortunately, it’s not always an easy thing to do. You have to set your mind to this type of productivity, and discipline yourself to work your plan. Doing so, however, will make all the difference in whether or not you make a buck or go bust.

I accidentally visited your site by following links from my Facebook. And yes, you’re my friend in Facebook although I don’t know you.

My concern is that I’m currently jobless. After graduation, I got a job in the mall. But recently, my contract ended and I needed to find another job.

After reading your blog, I was thinking, can I also earn money by only blogging? I want to earn money online too. Please give me advice.

My Answer:

It might be true that I am making money by simply blogging here and in my other blogs. But it doesn’t mean anyone who wants to make money online by blogging can really earn money online. I knew a lot of people and received lots of emails from them telling me that they’re blogging for more than a year but then they still hardly earn from their blogs. And there many people out there who tried blogging but earned nothing from their blogs.

Why?

It’s because those who have the passion to write blogposts, and those who have the hearts to learn things related to blogging and getting traffic for their blogs are only those who can be successful in making money online through their blogs.

I have friends here who asked me to guide them to blog. I did help them and taught them how to blog. At first they showed their interest in blogging. They wrote articles and published into their blogs. But after a week, they just visited their blog but didn’t write new articles for their blogs. And after a month, they’d realized that blogging was hard.

But is it really hard to blog?

No! What makes them feel hard in blogging is the fact that they don’t have passion to write… to write articles for their blogs.

With that attitude, is it possible for them to make money online by blogging?

Of course no! They don’t have a chance to earn money from their blogs unless they’ll place their heart in blogging.

So, if you really want to earn money online by blogging, ask your self first:

Do you have passion in writing? If you don’t know how to write articles, are you ready to learn to write articles and ready to put your heart in writing or blogging?

But passion in blogging is not just the one that you need to have for you to successfully start and maintain a blog. Of course you also need money to spend for.

Do you have money to be spent for your internet connection? If you’re not planning to have your own internet connection, you also need money to pay for the internet time in Internet Cafe.

This is not actually a problem if you already had your own internet and PC or laptop of course.

Basically, you need a computer and an internet connection in blogging.

Earning Money From Your Blog Takes Time

You also need to know that you can’t immediately earn money from your blog. There’s a process you need to do before you can make money from your blog.

Build your blog. It starts in creating your blog. Then if your blog is already set up, you need to write the contents.

Drive Traffic. While you continuously build content, you also need to do something to drive traffic into your blog. You can start by SEOing your blog for it to start gaining reputation from the search engine. Then get more traffic from different sources like the Networking websites, Bookmarking websites, other blogs and websites or by article marketing.

Monetize your blog. Once your blog has the traffic, then that’s the time you can start monetizing it. You start monetizing your blog by displaying the Google Adsense and Kontera ads or Infolinks ads.

Then I followed that one with another blog that was a little more specific to the Affiliate Marketing method of making money online. See these blogs by clicking on the appropriate links above.

   Now I will share a little about the Online Auction method to making money online.

   Many, many people make huge amounts of money online by using online auction sites. Some of these sites are just like going to a real auction. You see something you want and you put a "bid" on that item. There is usually a time limit set for the auction to end on that particular item. At the end of the auction, the person with the highest bid wins. The winner pays the bid price and the item is shipped to the winner. Other sites allow you to post items for sale. You will pay a small listing fee for this item or there are some sites that will allow you to list your item for free. If there is a listing fee, this fee is taken out of the final sale price. You place a time limit on your item and at the end of that time, you recieve the amount of the highest bid, minus your listing fee if one was charged. You then ship your item to the winner.
   Now, how do you make money on an auction site? Pretty simple, actually! You go to an online auction site and you find items that are of interest. You place your bid until you win. The item gets sent to you. You then turn around and re-list this product at another online auction site. Of course, you need to get this item at a reasonable bid in order to be able to make a little more elsewhere. So, you will need to learn when to bid and when not to bid. If you place a bid and someone places a higher bid, then you obviously have no further obligation to bid higher.
There are programs available that you can get that will help you research almost any product available at any auction site. These programs will tell you how many of an item is available, what the average list price is, what the average winning bid is and many other stats. Using one of these programs is almost a must when you first start. Eventually you will have a good idea of what items are most profitable at online auction sites.
   Another example of finding items to list on online auction sites is simply cleaning out your garage and finding items that you no longer want or need and listing those for sale. You would be surprised at what you can find laying around that you could list on an auction site.
   The sites that allow you to list items usually do not have any interest in what your product is or what condition it is in. Most online auction sites will not allow you to list pornography, illegal drugs, or anything else that is illegal or offending to the general population of users. On the other hand, your item could be pretty much anything. If you have an old baseball that you caught in a Cincinnati Reds ball game or a brand new baseball that never has been taken out of the plastic that covers it, both could be listed. Maybe you have an antique artpiece that you found in a garage sale or a headlamp out of a car. Almost anything can be listed at these sites. I once heard that a guy saved, in a jar, the extracts from blowing his nose over a few years and listed it on Ebay. That jar was bid on and won by a university that studied it for some purpose they were persuing. I know that is pretty gross, and I am not positive that it actually happened, but that really is possible on an online auction site. The online auction site never handles the item. All transactions are between the buyer and seller.
   Most online auction sites have a feedback system that buyers and sellers can use to "rate" their experience with the other party. So, let's say that you list and sell a pair of skates. The buyer, after receiving the skates, should go back to the online auction site and give you a rating. This rating is based on things like, was the item what you described it as, did they get it in a timely manner, was it in the condition you said it was, etc. Also, you should go back to the site and give the buyer a rating. Did the buyer pay you as your listing requested. Did they give you the feedback that you needed, have they contacted you over and over, etc. These ratings are very important to being successful at these auction sites. If you receive an overall poor rating, or sometimes just less than a great rating, people will not want to deal with you. So, it is very important to list your items accurately and post pictures of the item showing the condition. Also, ship your item in accordance with what you say in your listing. If you do not hear from your buyer or do not get a rating, contact the person and see if there is a problem that you need to address. Do whatever you can or whatever you have to in order to keep your rating high. The higher the better. You will assuredly get negative feedback from someone at sometime, but it is an overall rating that really counts.
   Now, let's talk about the big money making way to use online auctions! There are auction sites out there that only auction off items and don't allow just anyone to list. These sites cater to businesses with excess stock. These businesses will list these items on online auction sites and be happy to get what they can for their excess items. The alternative is to throw the stuff away and take a total loss. This can amount to millions of dollars. So, they list them online and get what they can. You can pick up items very cheap this way. The drawback to this method is that you have to deal with inventory. Some people don't mind dealing with inventory. As long as the money is good, they will pay the shipping costs, which they normally pass on to the next buyer.
   How do you make the big money? You find an online auction site that lists the products you want to promote. You promote the item(s) however you want and wherever you want at whatever price you want to and when someone purchases the item(s), the auction site packages it and ships it. You get the difference between the auction list price and your price. So all you have invested is your time to market and promote this item. But if you promote it at another online auction site as a product that someone can "buy right now at this price", then you have it as a permanent listing and you just keep making the money. You never have to stock anything! This method is called dropshipping.
   So, this is just an overview of the way to make money online with online auction sites. As with any online money making venture, make sure to do your research on this method. If done properly and maybe with a little guidance, you can make a lot of money with this method. There are literally hundreds of thousands of affiliate marketers online making real money. As an affiliate marketer, you are sort of the middle man. You are the guy promoting someone else's product. You send people to someone else's web page to purchase a product. When that person makes a purchase, you get a commission from the product owner based on your agreement with them. This commission is generally in the form of a percentage of the total sale. So, let's say, for example, that you send someone to a product that sells for $100. If your agreement with the owner is 50%, then you make $50. Alot of times you will get up to 75%. You usually get a higher percentage for digital information sales than you do for physical items.
When you first start out, you are just an affiliate. After you get going and you are making big money, you are considered a Super Affiliate. These guys and gals are making alot of money and promoting many things at the same time. But your goal should be to become a Mega Super Affiliate. These affiliates are making as much as $1,000,000 or more a year.
There are many programs available to guide you through the process of becoming an affiliate. To become successful quickly, I recommend that you research a few of these programs and find one that comes up on search results from Google or Yahoo or Bing, or other search engines.
Some affiliate programs are available to help you find products to promote. A couple of examples are Clickbank and Commission Junction. Clickbank is a great program that offers digital products only (ebooks, how to guides, informational products). Commission Junction is also a great program that offers digital products, but they also offer physical products (camping gear, musical instruments, clothes, you name it). If it can be bought, it is probably on one of these sites.
   These sites do not own these products, but rather vendors pay to have their products listed there for affiliates to promote. So, these vendors rely greatly on the affiliate to promote their product(s) for them. Once the affiliate sends the customer to the vendor, it is up to the vendor to make the sale. Once the sale is made, the vendor pays the affiliate for sending the customer there. The vendor knows who sent the customer to their site because when the vendor and the affiliate made the agreement, the vendor assigned the affiliate a code to put in the affiliates blogs or articles or websites, or whatever method the affiliate marketer wants to use to promote the product.
   The affiliate can promote the product(s) in many different ways. (S)he can make up a website and promote the product that way. They can post plogs on places like Blooger.com or WordPress.com or thousands of other blogging platforms. They can simply go to forums and post therir replies with a link to the product(s) they are promoting.
   I recommend that the affiliate marketer make a web page of their own. On this website, they put a form that the customer puts their email address and name in so that the affiliate has a record of who asked for the information they are giving. That way, the affiliate can send them future offers that relate to the product the customer asked for. This is one method to becoming a Super Affiliate.
   To become a Mega Super Affiliate, you should do all of the above plus some. What gets you on the road to becoming a Super Affiliate is to develop your own product and market it. When you sell your own product, who do you share the profits with? No one! You get 100% of the profit. You are not paying an affiliate. You can also develop these products and sell the resell rights to them. If you have good quality products, they will fetch a pretty penny (or perhaps a pretty dollar)!

Affiliate Marketing…this is how many, many products on the internet are sold. The way you make money online by being an affiliate is to set up a web page that gets people to come to your web page and from there you send them to someone else’s product.
