Inspired by her grandfather Gopen Ray (IPTA participant) and her mother Sanghamitra Dutta (student of Suchitra Mitra), Sandipa started her journey on the road of Music. She got training in Marg Sangeet from Mitali Sengupta. She got training from Indrani Sen as well, who inspired her to take part in Music completions like "Eto Noy Sudhu Gaan" and Indian Idol II, where Sandipa became a semi-finalist. And Sandipa moved on to perform in playback singing in Films, Advertisements, TV serials etc. She also performed in many live concerts. Now she is getting trained in Rabindrasangeet by Shrabani Sen and Debasish Ganguly is teaching her voice modulation and song throwing techniques.
