Two Pirated Shows In One Day

Well,
Today from 10am-12pm we did a show, Pirate Radio, which we've done once before I think, on a teacher workday, not sure about that. Me (Hunter), Tucker, Quinn and Henry were here.

It's 1 and a half in the morning now, so I guess its really Wednesday. Me and Tucker are here, and my mom is watching us, to make sure we don't blow up the radio station... or something like that. We played Go a bit, Tucker utterly pwned me, so I gave up. And whenever we announce we've just kinda... talk.. a lot.

I'm about to go help Tucker play a Pokemon game, so bye...

Disclamer: It's one and a half in the morning, I'm aloud (allowed, see, i can't think) to type/talk/think wrong/incorrectly/un-understandable and i can make up words :D yeah....

Quinn's birthday

Today is Quinn's birthday, but she is in Belgium, so she will not be able to celebrate it with us here at WCOM. I plan to use this opportunity for revenge.

So for those of you who didn't listen to Feb. 11's show, Quinn and the other radio-clubbers "dedicated" the last half-hour of the show to me (because I was not there and Feb. 10 was my birthday) by playing all the longest songs they had (8-minute American Pie, Stairway to Heaven, etc.). So today, I plan to get back at Quinn by playing nothing but soundtracks, electronica, and clearchannel music that she hates.

Also, we might have my friend David come in and do commentary on the (1)Florida vs. (3)Oregon Midwest regional game. The winner of this game will move on to the Final Four. I'm rooting for Oregon.

On a completely irrelevant side note, the new Modest Mouse album came out on Tuesday. I had been looking forward to it since I heard the single, Dashboard, about a month ago. So I bought the album, and since Tuesday, Henry, Hunter and I have been listening to practically nothing else. Expect a few of their songs today.

Not much news. I was just over at Amantes watching the last bit of the ACC championship game, which UNC beat NC State for, 89-80.

Today's show's start was a little rocky to say the least, but we managed to work out the reconfigured wiring after a while, and things are ok now.

ok, since nobody posted about sunday's show i figure i should. only 4 of us were able to make it, me {quinn}, hunter, kae and nathan. over all we had a pretty good show, there were a few tech. difficulties like not turning on the 2nd mike for an hour and a half, but we managed NOT to break the station. the last half hour of the show was dedicated to annoying tucker as a birthday present, but unfortunately i dont think we got a recording so he doesnt get his gift, sorry tucker.

The interviews today were great! I'd like to thank Django Haskins and Josh Starmer for coming in and playing live for us, and I'd like to thank OLSPUR for calling in and having a great interview.

Two Interviews on 2/4/07

We have two live interviews scheduled for next Sunday.

In the first hour, we will have Django Haskins, a local singer/songwriter. He is the lead singer/guitarist of The Old Ceremony, a local band.
At 3pm, we will have OLSPUR, an Arizonian mixer who produces Electronic/electronica music. He has made a lifelong pledge that 50% of his proceeds will go to charity. His album ALPHA GENERATION is available pre-release on Last.FM He will be interviewed over the phone- our first time doing this. Let's hope it works.

So I had lunch at the Barbeque Joint today, and right behind me in line was Django Haskins. I had emailed him earlier about a possible interview on Teen Spirit, but his reply was falsely marked as spam. Anyway, he says he'd love to come in on February 4th. Expect an interview then.

You Could Have It So Much Better

So with another $8 in iTunes Christmas money, I bought the second Franz Ferdinand album, titled "You Could Have It So Much Better". For those who don't know, Franz Ferdinand is an indie-pop band formed in 2002. They are Scottish, and play a sort of music that appeals to everyone. I think I'll play the first single from that album ("Do You Want To") on our next show.

As of today, this blog is called "the Blogocopter", possibly as a result of the popularity of a game Tucker and thousands of other people discovered this sumer. And it just kind of works, doesn't it?

In other news, we enjoyed a very successful interview with the "It's Carroboro" folks, Brian Risk, and Billy Sugarfix, who added an unforseen comic aspect to the show. Very fun.

This week (Xmas eve)'s show is being run by just me and Tucker so far, but we're hoping more people turn up. Morgan, Hunter, and possibly Boga will be here as well.

If you haven't already, I encourage you peoples to check out the U2/Green Day song, "The Saints Are Coming". What a great song.

We have a recording of our interview with Billy Sugarfix and Brian Risk, the creators of "It's Carrboro." If someone with a reliable (sorry Bojia) hosting service could email or otherwise contact us, we can put it up on the web. The file is about 30MB.
