Slip dresses are just effortlessly elegant and flattering. This chocolate brown one from SIR is a cut out maxi dress featuring contrast floral lace cut-out detail through front to accentuate the waist. I paired it with my white Loewe sunnies, slouchy straw bag, straw hat and Hermès slip-on sandals (very good dupe here). 

Mix and Match

Less is more? Not always. Not if you ask me. Unconventional layers and compositions is a styling trick that many use to step up their looks. It’s a great way to bring personality and character to your look! Here are two basic rules for mix and matching: look for analogous colors, you will hardly go wrong in the composition because they are close and it is very likely to result in a mix sur ton that is beyond chic. Secondly, look for colors that run in opposite directions – these are complementary colors – for a bolder and super stylish combination. Check out some fun options below.

The right Trench

How to choose your trench coat? For me, it’s the slouch, lightweight material, oversized menswear look and details that read vintage. Trenches are so great because they can easily be integrated into any wardrobe and there really isn’t any styling faux pas when it comes to the trench. They really take any look and give it polish (besides rain protection, of course). A lot has been already written about how incredible, versatile and practical the trench coat can be (do you even need to wear anything underneath?). But I give it another go with some fresh options for you to get inspired to rescue yours this spring or maybe invest in a new one.

Boots

Rain boots need to be waterproof — that goes without saying. But more than that, the goal is to look like you’re not wearing a rain boot rain boot. More like, a fabulous boot you just so happen to be wearing in the rain. It’s key to look for a pair that effortlessly blends fashion and function. Take a look at the options I found below. 

Some bright cargo pants for your delight: these yellow, these Dion Lee ombré and these crazy good orange ones.

Headgear

Head accessories are often overlooked, but they’re the perfect addition to a rain-ready outfit! Silk scarves and especially (bucket) hats serve as a perfect color/pattern accent for an outfit – and obviously, they keep humidity at bay! The best part is that your ears are stylishly protected and if it stops raining you just slip it back into your bag. Goodbye umbrellas-that-get-lost-on-a-daily!

Do you know one for the books? When I wore the biggest Carolina Herrera dress of all time. That silver number was everything on the streets of New York. I felt powerful and realized I had a newfound love for silver – long forgotten. Do you feel the same? Seems like gold was the chosen metal for most people until very recently.

However, there are also plenty of less obvious ways to wear metallics. You don’t have to go all out. Perhaps the easiest way to add a touch of shine to your outfits in 2023: one high-shine item, toned down with other basics or more muted pieces. See how I did the trick with a denim jacket? I have had this sequinned silver dress for years and I have always found new and exciting ways to wear it. From cowboy boots to sneakers, denim, and blazers.  

A Hint

The silver obsession is also having a significant impact on the accessories world. After years of gold hoop earrings and chain necklaces dominating, silver is starting to regain popularity when it comes to everyday jewelry.

And if you’re willing to take a step further, nothing says “disco” quite like mirrored heels or handbags, which will go with a surprising number of outfits. Black denim and Silver, for example, a true love story. Shout out to my Bao Bao bag by Issey Miyake which is definitely a gift that keeps on giving. Denim skirts have been so popular this season. They’re not only very stylish but versatile (and affordable!) too. Even the less unconventional wardrobes can find a space for this piece because the denim will instantly add a casual feel to the look! I just love the long and elegant silhouette that a maxi denim skirt can give you as well as that robust denim, which will give you an edge. 

Everything Diesel

Seeing some of today’s top fashion influencers/celebrities wearing Diesel it’s hard to believe that the brand’s U.S. division filed for bankruptcy just three years ago. Its iconic 1956 “pantaboots,” which feature faded jeans that flow into heeled boots, earned the 10th place in the Lyst Index’s ranking of hottest women’s products. Diesel has always been recognized for its sexy, rule-breaking style and marketing, and that’s undoubtedly what the masses are craving after a couple of years of so many rules. For SS22 Diesel debuted utility-inspired and upcycled pieces, many with unique finishes and textures. For SS23 the brand delivered acid-toned racer-back or spaghetti-strap minidresses sometimes garlanded with florals and contrast-colored lace. Here for it!

Go big or go home, ain’t that the saying? While skinny jeans firmly remain persona non grata, baggy jeans are on everyone’s mood boards and wardrobes. A look that was super popular in the ‘90s. There’s a nonchalant vibe to the denim, too; it shows you don’t need to wear skin-tight pieces to look sexy. There’s more mystery to them, and that in and of itself, makes them ultra-sexy.

Denim Dress

This season, we’re swapping our poplin shirtdresses and prairie dresses in favor of another denim must-have: the denim dress. Both chic and cool. If you’re worried they’ll look too Western, it all comes down to how you style your denim dresses to make them edgy not prairie. Mood-boosting brights are going nowhere in 2023, with variations of yellow popping out as well. There’s no doubt that these are statement colors and they look fabulous worn head to toe.

Matching sets are nothing new, but they’re a fun way to get into maximalism. Matching sets are the spring trend we can’t get enough of: minimal effort, and maximum style points. Seriously, something about a matching top and bottom set just looks like you’ve got it together, even if it took you approximately three seconds to put on.

Maximalism is all about finding freedom in style — it’s fun, it’s unpredictable, and it’s everything that fashion oughta be. As the new year gets underway, we’re seeing eye-catching acid color palettes take hold. Expect to see green, raspberry, azure and fluorescent yellow pieces all over Instagram come spring. If you’re nervous about these shades, opt for a classic silhouette. The simplicity of a basic shape perfectly balances out the vibrancy of brighter, “look at me!” hues. Get ahead of the curve with some of the options I found online.

Muted

The classic cable-knit sweater we all know and love has gotten a facelift. You can always count on the standard corded sweater, but it’s nice to revamp our wardrobes with new styles. The Fuss Free

Fuss free does not mean loungewear. Any other night of the week you’ll be cooking in the comfiest clothes you own, but for dinner party outfits, loungewear won’t cut it. You’ll want to dress up. But not be so dressy you feel overdressed. This might be the perfect opportunity to try out something new. For example the cargo trend. Cargos + Tabi Sneakers = it’s a wombo combo! 

Party at the Top

Think about what’s happening with the top half of your outfit (after all, at the table that’s pretty much what’s there to see). Perhaps it’s time to rock the statement top you’ve been dreaming about for weeks. This Lapointe magenta suit, for instance, is pure joy. If you love dressing for comfort and style, this is it.

All Out

If your friends are coming chez toi, make the most of the wardrobe at hand and use this as a testing ground for the brave look. This sequinned green dress is pure drama. So are these pants I’m wearing by Lapointe! Daring but still sensual. I love a bit of glam all year round, so I always look for interest in my accessories, for example, this pair of rose-heeled slingback shoes by Loewe. It’s the provocative heel for me!

Extra Tip:

Great jewelry or fun heels are the “cherry on top” of any dinner party outfit! Hosting at home is also the perfect excuse to wear shoes you love but don’t get much use out of. I am wearing Louboutin embellished pumps – the embodiment of glamour.

Opt for fabrics like wool during colder months and linen or cotton when it’s warmer outside. Contrast its silhouette with a slimming pair of jeans, just like I did here. A pair of pointed-toe boots are also top of everyone’s shopping list this new year!

Instead of your usual jeans, why not a pair of denim cargo pants to spice up your bottom half a bit? I know, I know, cargo pants are a historically divisive trend but hear me out. The pockets add a fun, ornamental twist to traditional jeans, and the long military history helps to bring a masculine twist to even the most feminine of outfits. Go for the slouchy stolen-from-your-boyfriend’s-closet look or take a more experimental, structured approach. 

An Unexpected Pair of Shoes

I am a sucker for a good pair of shoes, can’t deny it. And oh boy when there’s my size for sale… tears of joy. No, but for real. These ones by Margiela are the perfect example of how the classiest preppiest of shoes can undergo a pretty cool transformation that will spice up your outfit effortlessly. Loafers come in a variety of styles lately, and I am here for it. Think chunky silhouettes, eye-catching embellishments like oversize buckles or studs, metal-worked adornments, and daring colors, from pastels to neon. It’s a timeless shape, that is for sure.

A Great Leather Number

If you’re not entirely comfortable with a full leather look, break it up. I personally love a sleeker look, so a leather skirt is my nod to the trend. It pairs perfectly with knitwear by day, and then you can put on a heel and, automatically, you’re in an evening look. If you’re someone who wears boyfriend jeans, go for a looser cut, and wear leather trousers as you would denim – just with a jumper and trainers, for example.

5 ways to wear tweed the tomboy way

If you’re afraid of looking too pretentious, don’t be. I will tell you how I would wear tweed.

Option 1: Wear a simple boxy black or white tee under the jacket and leave the latter unbuttoned. Order the jacket a couple of sizes up for a looser look. 

Alternative: Wear it with a denim skirt and round off with combat boots to instantly step up the oomph factor of your ensemble.

Another one: Add an oversized biker jacket on top and the whole look will come together way cooler.

Option 4: For a laid-back and cool getup, dress it down with oversized distressed jeans or cargo pants — these two pieces play brilliantly together. No fuss yet totally stylish!

Option 5: With sneakers such as Adidas Samba or Nike Blazer (retro) or New Balance 530 (chunkier but not too much). These will bring a dash of playfulness to an otherwise all-too-safe look. 

If you don’t want to add extra elegance and femininity, stay away from blouses with ruffles or a bow tie and even a classic button-down shirt. Another way to break the way-too-polished vibe of this jacket is to play with color – instead of going for some (sometimes boring) neutral option. 

Finally, the easiest way to add some boyish punk flair to a look is by using accessories – as in a chunky chain (maybe several layered) and a pair of really oddly shaped earrings. Stack it up, baby! Take a look at the options I found below.

People are seeking to reform and transform the world. To create real change and make an impact, loud and rebellious voices seem essential in order to shake up rigid thought patterns. That’s when Punk comes in. These non-conformist groups are used as a frequent design reference to establish the change-maker spirit. Denim, leather, messages, metal pins and chains are now showing higher frequencies. Rough hems, experimental layering and unfinished styling translate the edgy neo-punk look. I personally love it!

Motomami / Biker Chick

Put on your helmet and hold on tight: biker fashion is in. Perhaps the biggest evidence of this trend comes with Rosalía’s album Motomami, a celebration of the contrasting energies inside a woman — the fierce and the vulnerable. Fall 2022 collections delivered biker-chic looks with plenty of moto jackets, head-to-toe denim, and chunky zipper details. A contrast of edgy and soft is also on the table, which I appreciate.

Extraordinary Coats

If you’re trying to be more aware of your purchasing vs. wearing habits, focus on splurging on the pieces that will enhance your core wardrobe staples, not replace them. Among the splurge list? Playful accessories, flirtatious shoes, and most importantly this season — the party coat: an extraordinary statement-making jacket that will instantly turn a minimalist outfit into a head-turning ensemble. Paris Fashion Week Street style goers are already on top of this.

There’s nothing like a long skirt that truly grabs a person’s attention. Something about the way it flows and dances with each step is just mesmerizing. Plus while everyone is talking about itty bitty micro skirts at the moment, there’s simply more occasions that call for a long skirt. About this outfit: it’s also the black tie for me. 

Cowgirl

The cool cowgirl aesthetic has been adopted by street stylers alike, who utilize the eccentric boot to add a jolt of excitement to their personal style choices. Cowboy boots can work for every sensibility, from minimalism to maximalism, and everything in between. You won’t ever lose the authenticity because the silhouette, no matter how you riff on it, is cemented. There’s no right or wrong way to wear boots and with that there is so much freedom to play. Cowboy boots are a fun and bold statement piece.

Might be hard to fit anything at all into these trendy bags, but that does not stop anyone from giving them a chance. Micro bags are the cutest accessory. I have my micro sequined Fendi and, believe it or not, I make good use of it. What exactly is the point of having a bag which holds so little? People who get it get it. 

Skin Flashing

The temperature in Milan is not the highest, but the weather hasn’t put the street-style set off the prospect of showing some skin. Quite the opposite. Amongst all the oversized outerwear, there’s been crop tops, plunging necklines, bralettes, mini dresses, and (my favourite) plenty of second-skin tops. 

Hot Pink + Leather on Leather

On Wednesdays we wear pink right? Judging from street style trends, we might be wearing it every day of the week this fall. Love it or hate it, this bold aggressive colour is having a moment. If you’re not a big fan of pink, why not try its pastel cousin? About leather, if you find the perfect shape, leather pieces are timeless and can be worn season after season.

As we begin to transition into cozy season, it’s officially time for my personal favourite : denim, jeans, and some more denim on top. Fall 2022 is going to be especially exciting for denim lovers with an array of unique and reimagined styles.

Ongoing obsession with nostalgia? Check! 90s fashion was all about flattering, loose-fit bottoms, careless (at least apparently) aesthetic and wearing sunglasses with everything—even at night.

Dark Romance

A wind of freedom is most certainly blowing through fashion in 2022 with the return of punk and grunge styles. A feeling of revolution, a craving for freedom, or a simple desire to put extravagance in their lives (in the absence of glitter), men and women are celebrating self-expression through a range of punk-inspired looks. I love how versatile this trend is and I love the dark romance of it all. 

Tapered Fit

Something of happy medium between the trendy wide-leg styles and skinny jeans, tapered pants feature a wider fit around the waist and thighs before slimming down at the ankle. I think these are so flattering, giving your body an enhanced shape. I love the monochromatic vibe of this look with the red accents!

Workwear has been a mainstay in womenswear for some time – think vests, boilersuits, derby shoes – but more recently the trend has taken a step even further towards the functional. Lately, the more pockets the better. Who wants to go around carrying bags anymore?

Pops of Colour + Wild Tailoring

Suit up but make it pop! The people have spoken and declared brightly coloured suits as the new normal. If you don’t want to jump right in, try balancing things out with a pair of black bottoms. 

Super Oversized Frames + Reworked Denim

Look, it’s me on that street style picture. Damn, we look hella cute! If you like to play it mysterious like we do, make sure you arm yourself with oversized sunglasses. Timeless and flattering. Also, I am living for those reworked jeans on the left – the denim trends for next season are diverse and cannot be squeezed into ready-made patterns that is for sure. The dress on the right is from Nigerian brand Fia. 

Highlighting The Waist

Cargo pants are having a moment, what did I tell you? But what’s giving me life here is the metallic corset. If there’s one thing that has emerged very clearly from street style is that this is the year for bringing sexy back into our wardrobes. Banish any preconceptions you may have about corsets, waist-training is not a thing anymore. Nothing says sexy like rocking your underwear as outerwear and that’s something I’ve been doing forever with good old bralette. 

Elevated Femininity

Faced with several obstacles in the last couple of years, the creative sphere continued to invoke imagination and creativity. Art Deco accents, tulle and glittering details are reviving nostalgic eras gone by. Isolde is wearing Markarian Nyc skirt and blouse and Alyssa is wearing a PannPann blouse.

Stolen from the Boys

I love the versatility of a vest. Whether it’s a structured waistcoat or a cosy oversized knit, they never fail to complete any outfit. As with any trend, making them work is all in the styling and I loved how simple but appealing this one is. 

Metallics

Metallics are in this fall big time. If you’re looking for a way to ease into the trend, start with a dazzling mini bag like this Coperni or alternatively this one for those on a tighter budget.

Orange

We can all admit that defaulting to neutral colours is an easy way to create an outfit but is it this fun? I suggest starting simple with lighter hues, like pastels, to ease your way into complementary colour outfits. With a monochrome look, the idea is to work with a “tone on tone”. This means variations of the same colour, from the lightest to the darkest, for example. It is worth playing with different shapes and textures of fabrics, like I did here. Once you’ve gotten more comfortable with this brighter aesthetic, go for more exuberant colour schemes!

Green

With the focus on just one colour, where can you go wrong? I mean green is great in a group, but even more powerful on its own. While it may seem easy to master, there is a certain art that goes into finessing this look in order to prevent it looking too mundane or flat. With any colour on the colour wheel at your disposal, monochromatic outfits are great for making a statement while keeping getting dressed easy. Play with accessories to complete the look! I love a good mix and match – and these cycling sunnies, dad sandals (on a budget option here – in leather!) and scarf did the trick for me. 

Purple

Do you realize how versatile purple can be? Especially if you’re a fan of colourblocking. Bold Colors and Psychedelic Prints

“Alongside bold colours will be a growing desire for abstract and psychedelic prints.” People are excited to get dressed again, but it’s not like we’re looking for the little black dress (at least not the boring variety) or another pair of straight jeans. We are looking for show-stopping clothes and new ways to explore style that’s super fun and eccentric. This trend has already leaned heavily towards trippy prints from party pants to ‘60s-era mod motifs.

Bring On the Cargo

Topping my list of must-buy revival items are all things cargo. While cargo pants are popping off as a major spring 2022 trend, roomy boyfriend pants are also the item to look for. These can be worn baggy as a low-rise style and I must say I am here for it. I wore a white Zara pair recently with a fuzzy top – by the way, do you follow me on TikTok? If you know me, you know I love my cargos, especially the pair that I created for my second collection with Amazon The Drop. I also love me some baggy pants and boyfriend cut jeans. They look effortlessly cool and you just cannot go wrong with these bottoms.

Platform Shoes

I talked about this sky high shoe trend in my recent blog posts, Best Spring Shoes and The Rise of the Platform Shoes. Needless to say, they’ve been a love of mine for many seasons and I have been lusting after a new pair over at TikTok. With all things Y2K and late ’90s trending hard, chunky platform shoes — from boots to oxfords — are officially “IT.”

Vintage Dior

Archive hunters are now looking for any vintage Dior pieces. That’s probably because right now, there’s a love-hate relationship with modern Dior, so for a lot of people that means going back to the past and look for the pieces they liked then. Personally, I love my vintage Dior trench coat and the iconic Saddle Bag that I’ve had it for years. What defines the Saddle style is the fold-over flap, the curved shape at the bottom, and the “C.D.” logo hardware. These are the design elements that make this bag an interesting and timeless staple. Nearly every designer and retailer crafted their own version of the saddle bag. You can definitely afford the trend and actually have tons of great options to shop. There are even some good deals out there especially for vintage Dior!

Spring is around the corner and with it comes the lively and bright greenery of fresh grass. A colour of rebirth, green gives me a connection with nature and freedom. While brown has been on the spotlight for the past season, green is gaining traction once again. From candy coloured shades to Kelly Green (which I love), the bold colour is perfect for (much needed) sunny days to come and is impossible to ignore.

Unexpected Layers

I’ve always loved dressing completely for myself and wearing whatever I want regardless of where it’s from. That includes fashion weeks from anywhere in the world, Paris being my most recent one. Always be you and don’t be afraid to play with your style. Hence I decided to bring more vintage to Paris Fashion Week to mix in the old and new, highs and lows. I layered a @maisonkitsune dress over my green vintage skirt and thought it looked fire!

Jewel Tones

Did someone say jewel tones? I am here for them, you already know. This is a colour palette that won’t just stick because it’s exciting, but because it’s wearable, and easy for anyone to pull off. Jewel tones can be integrated into anyone’s closet and appeal to a wide range of aesthetics. Also, they’re just plain fun. Who’s down for some experimenting?

Relaxed silhouettes, long hemlines, high waist, these are the details that caught my eye on these pants. And I am pairing them with everything from crop tops to outerwear and bold accessories. 

From chic suits with extra-wide trousers to retro-inspired denim, designers have been favoring the wide fit for spring, both slung low at the hips for a relaxed look and high-waisted and tailored for a more formal option.

Wide leg pants work for every day, an evening out, and even workwear. I know it can be intimidating to opt for a pant with extra fabric and size. But hear me out, these pants actually lengthen legs and accentuate the waistline, creating an incredibly flattering silhouette on every body-type.

Purchase a neutral pair and consider a head to toe colour scheme

An easy way to make wide-leg pants look polished and elegant is by opting for a monochromatic look or slight variations of the same color.

Maybe it’s the style’s subtle retro kick, but the denim version of this silhouette just feels really cool. Bonus points: platform boots. They’re trending, they’re comfortable, they give you extra centimeters. 

Tuck in your top

It is essential to tuck in your top or find a way to accentuate your waistline when wearing wide-leg pants. It’s all about balance. The pair I came up with from my Amazon the Drop line (part 2 is coming, check all the details on my Instagram!), for example, features a belt detail, which further cinch your waist while making a tucked-in top look fabulous.

Biker Jackets

How many years since you saw a really good biker jacket in the wild? Whichever iteration takes your fancy, this throwback Kate-Moss-off-duty staple is set to dominate and I am not mad at all. Looks badass, looks powerful, looks damn good.

Endless Colour

Colour combinations on the catwalks look pretty juicy. Take Valentino, where chocolate brown, raspberry and cerulean blue mingled to perfection. Or Halpern, where tangerine was paired with fuchsia. I purchased a few pops of colour before and will continue wearing them onwards, that’s for sure. Another color combo with great attitude with Versace and a full sunkissed yellow look with Christian Siriano – pictured below! 

All White

Now, here’s one for the minimalists: a shock of white, worn head-to-toe. Feels fresh and gets me excited for spring/summer 2022.

Dress Code Fab

Everything from sequins and sparkles to crystals and heavily-embellished styles abounded on the catwalks as sweet release from challenging lockdowns. I never thought there was such thing as being over-dressed anyway.  

Big Blazer Energy

The movement of oversized blazers is not a new one. This trend has been going on for so long, I’d say it’s not trendy at all. It’s a classic, timeless, essential piece in any woman’s wardrobe. Every blazer I own has its own personality, I must say. And I love each and every one of them.  

Maxi Skirts

Midi skirts have reigned supreme for some time now. But I think hemlines are descending, with minimalist styles that fit closer to the ankles being more present. The trend is already out there particularly when rendered in jersey and knit options, which act as an easy base for creative layering.

Bralettes

Extreme lengths are easily paired and contrasted, always creating a more dramatic look, day and night. That’s one of the reasons I’m into bralettes. So easy to dress up with a suit like I did here on the right or dress down with jeans and sneakers!

Instead of a sheer fantasy… try cut-out dresses

Just as sexy but easier to style. See through dresses and shirts are incredibly hard to style… you must find the right underwear or tank top to go with them and it takes too much time to come up with a cute outfit (at least as cool as the runways advertise it to be). For us common day-to-day mortals, cut-out dresses, with unexpected peekaboo holes are just as sexy and much easier to style. Be it a rib cut-out, thigh cut-out or cleavage cut-out, you can still see some skin but it isn’t the in-your-face type of thing. It’s also an easy day to night look. You might want to sip a cocktail or two after work, and you’ll be appropriate for each and every one of those situations.

Instead of sequins… try lustrous satin

A subtler statement. I know, after all this time wearing (cute but) kind of low-profile clothing, we want to go all out. But some of us aren’t comfortable with sequins during the day – it’s just too much shine. Some co-workers might even get dazzled by such an outfit (but in like a not cute kind of way). My suggestion is to try shiny fabrics yes, but not as shiny as sequins. Satin, for example, looks just as chic and sparkly – and it still makes a statement.

Instead of super fitted jumpsuits… try yoga pants

Jumpsuits might be the most uncomfortable garment ever invented. It’s not easy to pee, because you must almost fully undress to do so. And unless you’re a super model they’re kind of unrealistic to wear out on the street… I’m not one to cheerlead for fitted jumpsuits, so I thought maybe a nice wearable alternative would be yoga pants. Hear me out please. Facts are facts: most everyone succumbs to wearing them at some point or another (running errands, anyone?). The wonderful world of yoga pants is vast and varied, so I’m here to narrow things down to the best soft pants on the internet. And since there’s no sartorial item more comfortable than leggings, the recent uptick of stylish alternatives comes as a welcome surprise. Moveable stretch fabric does indeed have a place in fashion, I’ll tell you that. You just have to elevate the look with a classic oversized blazer, maybe a knitwear top and a pair of chunky loafers/boots. I like how Emily styled this outfit on the left! 

Instead of houndstooth… try tartan

It’s just its edgier, punkier cousin. I am so excited about it, for obvious reasons. The British in me is rejoicing. I like to serve the kind of looks that are improved by attitude and a pair of chunky soled boots. Just like Eva Chen did here on the left. You?

One of the most fertile places for style peacocking? The airport — aka a zone that’s packed with missed connections, telling glances, and shadowy strangers. So, let’s explore how exactly to get into airport style mode for any upcoming triumphant returns to this exciting site.

If you’re going to join the jet-setter club and are feeling like you’ve lost your traveler’s je ne sais quoi, then don’t worry because most of us did honestly. Some of us haven’t set foot on a plane in well over a year. So you might be in need of some outfit inspiration and a refresher on the functional requirements of travel outfits. I let my imagination run a little wild and dreamt up some stylish looks for any upcoming flight based on my past outfits. But, don’t worry, not too wild — the airplane-ready outfits ahead are ready to inject a comfortable amount of drama into your future travel plans.

Tips

We want to look a little glam but also unbothered, we want to look cute but not in like a weird tried-too-hard way as we pose through security. (Who wants to be stuck on an endless flight in too-tight jeans and blister-causing heels?)

Let’s begin with the essentials. First essential item on the go: a hat. Not only do they help cover up bed head or dirty hair, but it’s easier to wear one than shove it in your suitcase. Another essential on the go item: a pair of don’t look at me sunglasses. While we’re on the topic of accessories, scarves make amazing travel companions too, since they can double as a blanket or pillow. Now onto the outfits.

A blazer is an airport staple

If you’re wearing a pair of jeans, they’ve got to have a little bit of stretch or be a bit loose, especially if you’re sitting in them for a long period of time. But I’d recommend a pair of black leggings instead. A blazer is great for the airport. It’s chic, smart, and comfortable. The key is opting for a version that’s soft and movable, rather than stiff. Plus, it’s the ideal piece for dressing up a secretly-cozy look, like a soft sweater and joggers. Check out below the reels I made of a recent airport look wearing a blazer! On the go monochrome look

A slouchy knitted monochrome look like I’m wearing here is super simple, but the grey on grey makes the whole thing feel a little bit fancier than your average airport style. Sneakers check many boxes — with a platform sole, you’ll be able to move quickly through the airport, and they won’t ever feel out of place when you arrive at your destination.

Yes, a dress

No one ever thinks to throw on a dress and hop in a plane but it can be your best bet for a long day of travel. Think about it: nothing to remove during security, no jumpsuit-induced bathroom woes… and it goes on.

The shacket

The workwear-inspired shirt-jacket (or shacket) hybrid has captured the hearts of many a fashion-lovers since it became a staple a few years back – including me. And it happens to also be an extraordinarily functional travel piece. It’s an easy layer that will keep you warm on a chilly plane but will pass muster as a shirt in the security line. Plus, in a summer-friendly fabric like denim, it can double as a beach cover-up when you land.

On the move look

The ever-adventurous traveler is ready for action as soon as she lands — and she’s equipped with an active sweatpant look that will keep her moving. Luckily, my matchy-matchy tie dye set is very much at home in the airport — jet-setting celebrities have been sporting coordinating tops and bottoms since the beginning of time (Juicy couture anyone?).

You know that person who wafts into the airport like they’ve already arrived at their tropical destination? They’re 100% right — vacation starts when you leave your house. Breezy, lightweight separates will help you embrace your vacay mood.
