Order 89 are band from Bordeaux, France that make music best described as hazy new-wave synth and post-punk with a rock and roll swinging spirit.

“Advance Stop” is a single from their 2023 EP Brûle, a seductive blending of all these sounds into something dark, hypnotic and gothic that feels like you’re transported to night out exploring a rainy town during an ungodly late hour. The atmosphere has a dark lean towards it but also carries a sense of vibrancy and optimism that makes the most of its just about two-minute runtime.

Soda Die is the project of Florida-based musician Brian Schanck, who released the lovely single “Sit With It” back in December 2023. The track was written and produced in collaboration with Michael Bostinto.

“Sit With It” is an instrumental, experimental post-punk single that is inspired by the insights that he has gained through vipassana meditation and other intense disciplines of self-discovery. The track is a chilled out jam full of psych-laden grooves in the style of acts like Allah-Las, (early) Tame Impala and Mac DeMarco and Khruangbin. It’s a perfect track for this current heatwave that we are going through, a colorful sonic journey that leaves plenty to the imagination and have wonderful instrumental flourishes that give it plenty of dimension.
