This interesting footage was taken on 7th June, 2010, in rural Alberta, Canada. It shows a tall thin creature running away, when the camera is trained on it. Note the metallic looking skin/suit of the creature.

"This footage was taken at around eleven or twelve at night in rural Alberta on June 7th 2010. A few days prior to this, me and my brother had been hearing noises from the yard at night and thought we had seen something out the window, so we decided to keep a camera handy in case it happened again.

As you can see, the footage we captured shows a tall creature with a strange manner of walking. It had quite large hands with three fingers each and appeared to almost go completely invisible at times. One of the strangest features of this being was it's almost metallic looking skin."

"I Know What I Saw" Documentary

This excellent UFO documentary was aired a couple of nights ago on the History Channel. It contains footage and eye witness accounts from many famous and not-so-famous UFO incidents.

Director, James Fox assembled the most credible UFO witnesses from around the world to testify at The National Press Club in Washington D.C.: Air Force Generals, astronauts, military and commercial pilots, government and FAA officials from seven countries tell stories that, as Governor Fife Symington from Arizona stated, "will challenge your reality".

Their accounts reveal a behind-the-scenes U.S. operation whose policy is to confiscate and hoard substantiating evidence from close encounters to the extent that even Presidents have failed to get straight answers.

Highlights include the investigation by several military personnel of the triangualar-shaped UFO that landed in Rendlesham Forest, England in December 1980. They walked around the craft, saw inscriptions on it and even touched it.

UFOs photographed over the Lake District

Campers in the Lake District, England, were treated to a spectacular light show from a string of glowing orbs which flew in formation across the sky.

The lights were seen above Ullswater on Saturday night over the Park Foot campsite, as the Telegraph reports.

People rushed out of their tents to stand and watch in awe as the lights darted back and forth.

They weaved in and out of one another and appeared to fade and then light up again as they soared through a clear sky.

Camper Paul Haigh, 28, of Darlington, said: "Most people had turned in for the night but we were woken by a commotion.

"Someone had spotted something and dashed out to get a better look.

"Soon everyone was outside their tents and looking up into the sky, it was like a scene from Close Encounters.

"The lights were amazing and seemed to fly in formation, they were darting around, fading an lighting up again.

"There was ever more than six in the sky at any one time, but as one faded another lit up, it was a really weird spectacle.

"There were various theories as to what they were, someone said Chinese lanterns, but they seemed much too big and moving too fast.

"They looked as though they were being propelled under their own power rather than being blown by the wind, it was a still night."

Lucy Gray, 26, of Leeds, said: "They seemed to be dancing around in the sky, not just racing straight across it like clouds.

"They were moving in formation, keeping a regular distance apart and they'd all shift around at the same time.

"It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen and I can't explain it, unless they were aircraft on a training exercise."

Yet another sighting in the country that has seemingly become a hotspot for UFOs.

20+ UFOs in formation over the UK

THIS amazing picture captured the strange sighting of more than 20 UFOs buzzing over what is becoming a UFO-infested Britain.

As the Sun newspaper reports, stunned families watched as the lights in the sky lined up in a flying formation before disappearing upwards into space.

The close-encounter snap was taken by engineer Paul Slight on his mobile phone at about 10.30pm on 31 May 2009.

He was coming home from a day out cycling with friends in Lincoln when they spotted the lights in the sky.

The objects were hovering in the night sky over the town moving in different directions before eventually shooting straight up into the atmosphere.

In a series of stunning images taken over five minutes, Paul, from Lincoln, captured the objects together and even flying in an apparent formation.

Paul, 54, said: "There were 26 of them at first, dodging and darting in between each other like they were playing a game.

"After that, seven more arrived from the right hand side and weaved through the crowd of lights like strange kinds of aircraft.

"After five minutes of moving around, the flickering yellow objects hung in the air for a second then shot off into the sky and disappeared.

"I have no idea what they were - I'm not usually a believer but what I saw was really weird.

"I have flown planes and helicopters before and I know these were not them, helicopters couldn't line up like that or move that fast."

Former air hostess Claire Jackson, also from Lincoln, saw the same strange yellow objects circling in the sky that night.

Claire, 40, said: "I counted around 20 lights in the sky, they seemed to be moving around each other.

"They were definitely not aircraft or fireworks, they moved differently, it was really strange."

Phil Hoyle, from UK-based UFO Investigation Unit, said the way the UFOs had moved indicated a form of intelligence.

He said: "If these objects were circling one another you would have to rule out that they were fireworks.

"If they were dodging and darting around each other it would indicate intelligent movement."

Ruth Veron, spokesperson for nearby RAF Cranwell, said she did not know what the phenomena could be.

She said: "RAF Cranwell is closed over the weekend so it could not have been any aircraft from this base.

"I do not have any idea what the lights could be, we did not have any aircraft flying that night."

UFO videoed over London

This cool footage was filmed by Daniel Edwards of the NW10 area of London on 15 April 2009.

The lights appear to be flying quite low and travelling slowly, when they shoot off at incredible speed and disappear.

These are not reflections - the window is clearly open.

On the comments page for the video on YouTube, Daniel describes how "doesn't believe in aliens, so I wouldn't waste one second out of my busy life to create a fake UFO video for YouTube"

On other comments he says, "Oh and I dont know how long it was there, I just saw it, grabbed my old phone and got that! Which I'm well proud about! And a bit wierded out! Not scared tho",

and

"...couldn't see any outlines, and couldn't tell if it was darker in between the lights, or because of the glare of the lights were making the in between part darker in comparison."

If the video is fake, it's a pretty good one. The guy who filmed it seems a decent enough chap, with no interest in the subject, who just happened to film something out of the ordinary.

X-Conference speakers call for UFO disclosure

At the National Press Club on April 20th, several prominent speakers called on the Obama administration to release all the secret UFO files in its possession. Speakers included Apollo astronaut, Dr Edgar Mitchell, and former Senior Executive Officer with the UK Ministry of Defence, Nick Pope.

Another speaker was former US Air Force pilot, Milton Torres. He described how in May 1957 he scrambled his F-86 D Sabre jet in calm weather from the Royal Air Force base at Manston, Kent to intercept an unknown object that appeared on radar.

Stephen Bassett, head of the Paradigm Research Group (PRG), which hosted the X-Conference, said that the truth about extraterrestrial life is being suppressed because it is politically explosive. "There is a third rail [in American politics], and that is the UFO question. It is many magnitudes more radioactive than Social Security ever dreamed to be.

Remarkable UFO footage from Argentina

Remarkable footage from Buenos Aires, Argentina, of a low-flying UFO, which descends to almost ground level, and is seen by multiple witnesses.

Astonished commuters stopped their cars to view one of the clearest sightings of a low flying UFO ever. The event occurred at 8:41 PM on January 24 2009 besides the heavily polluted Cascallares Dam.

Stunned witnesses dived into their cars for cell phones and one even was able to pull a pair binoculars out of his boot. They then watched the most unworldly of objects rise and descend almost to road level while enthusiastically declaring it a UFO.

One witness, Mr Christian Soldano, was lucky enough to be carrying a high quality video camera with night vision and was able to capture this curious event, which you can see in this video.

A case of ball lightning? South American ufologists note that no other film of ball lighting of has ever been produced showing an object with similar characteristics.

RAF pilots ordered to shoot down UFOs

Royal Air Force pilots have tried to shoot UFOs out of the sky under a top secret Government directive, it was claimed last night.

Nick Pope — who worked on the UK Ministry of Defence's UFO desk for three years — revealed the rules of engagement for the first time.

As described in The Sun, he claimed RAF pilots had fired at UFOs on several occasions — but failed to bring them down.

He added: "We know of cases where the order has been given to shoot down — with little effect to the UFO."

Mr Pope said the rules of engagement were drawn up after dozens of close encounters with suspect craft in British airspace.

RAF attacks on UFOs were "not automatic but happen when something in our airspace is deemed to be a threat".

He explained: "In the case of UFOs, whether the object is causing a threat is very much a (pilot’s) judgment call."

Mr Pope, 43, from London, said the "shoot down" orders had been issued under the highly-classified directive since the beginning of the 1980s.

He believes a pattern has emerged in incidents already publicised in the UK and abroad.

When a UFO is thought to be threatening a country's airspace, the drastic action has been taken.

He said: "There was a faction in the MoD who said 'We want to shoot down a UFO and that will resolve the issue one way or another'."

Cool UFO footage from Turkey

Following last year's UFO sightings witnessed by the residents of the Kumburgaz/Yeni Kent compound in Instanbul, Turkey, the UFOs have returned in 2008.

Again, they have been captured on video, by the same night guard named Yalcin Yalman.

The shape and form of the UFOs are clearly visible. Of particular note is at about 8:50 where the illumination of the craft changes.

Huge UFO to appear on October 14th?

Several weeks ago, Blossom Goodchild, a "channeling medium", sent out an email to the 128 people on her email list. In it she made an extra-ordinary claim - on the 14th October 2008, a huge UFO would enter our atmosphere and remain for a minimum period of three days.

She claims that she received the message from alien race(s) known as the "Federation of Light", and she was tasked with getting the message out to as many people as possible.

I thought long and hard before deciding to post about this story. At first it seems just like another whacked out story, but Blossom does seem sincere in her beliefs, as can be seen on her web site and blog. Even after several weeks she is still adamant that it will happen. And she knows that many people would be angry with her for lying. She claims other "channelers" have confirmed what the Federation of Light have said.

RAF officer breaks 37-year silence on UFO radar mystery

A former RAF officer has claimed that UFOs are real and may have invaded UK airspace, branding official resistance to such theories as "stupid and arrogant".

Wing Commander Alan Turner MBE was sworn to secrecy after he tracked a series of unidentified objects soaring over southern England at incredible speeds.

But now the airman, who was honoured by the Queen for his years of distinguished service, has broken his silence and spoken publicly for the first time about his experience.

Turner, who was a chief operator of the RAF’s radar system for 29 years, said colleagues sat stunned when 35 super-fast vessels appeared on their screens. The craft were equally spaced and shot from 3,000ft to 60,000ft at almost 300mph.

Incredibly, every few seconds one of the UFOs would suddenly vanish from radar and be replaced by an identical vessel moments later.

Wing Cmdr Turner said six military radars, plus operators at Heathrow, spotted the UFOs east of Salisbury Plain and filed reports on the unexplained phenomenon in 1971.

The RAF chief even drew a map charting their flight in between key sites like RAF Lyneham, Wilts, and the aircraft navigation transmitter at Brookmans Park, Herts.

Three days later, the Ministry of Defence visited the RAF and instructed staff to "never speak about the incident again".

Wing Cmdr Turner, who retired from the RAF in 1995, said: "UFOs are a fact — I tracked them on military radar units.

"What I saw defied all logic and was, quite frankly, extraordinary.

"It wasn’t just me. More than 30 pairs of eyes of RAF staff and radar operators at Heathrow Airport witnessed the same thing.

"It’s arrogant to believe that we’re the only ones in this universe."

Despite this, the Ministry of Defence stressed there were "realistic explanations" for such reports.

"Alien at the window" video emerges

A video purportedly showing a live alien looking through a window has surfaced.

This footage is supposedly a snippet of the film shown earlier this year to journalists in Denver, Colorado, US.

As previously reported here, Stan Romanek was concerned about a "peeping tom" that his daughter said was looking through her bedroom window. So he set up a night-vision camera trained on the window in the hope of filming the offender.

In this short clip you see the "alien" looking around and blinking. The full clip shown in Denver lasted for around two minutes, and showed the "alien" raising its head from below the window and lowering it again several times.

People who were present at the original screening have confirmed that this clip is a segment from it. The official release of this footage will be in a documentary by Stan Romanek, expected later this year.

So, is this footage of a real alien? This creature seems to be behind the reflection and has slight facial movement, but how easily can these effects be reproduced? Jerry Hofmann, a professional film editor with more than 30 years of experience, says here that the footage is real:

"There is no doubt in my mind that (Stan Romanek) did not post-produce this material. In other words, it's not a trick done in special effects," Jerry Hofmann, a professional film editor with more than 30 years of experience, said Thursday. "I have equipment that will test to see if that shot was recorded originally on that tape, which it was," he said.

"He kept the camera handy, and he saw this little gray (alien) running around his house. He saw it, so he got the camera out," Hofmann said. "The thing is about 4 feet tall. The only thing that shows up in the video is his head. It pops up from underneath a window. But his eyes blink. His cheeks move. He turns his head side-to-side. This would be a very elaborate puppet."

Hofmann said people who work in Hollywood animatronics have seen the video, and he said that such an elaborate puppet would cost around $50,000.

"The guy (Romanek) lives on a freaking government pension," Hofmann said. "He's got a wife and three kids. He doesn't have money. I just don't think he faked this. I think what we got here is the real thing."

New UFO witness reopens the 'Welsh Roswell' mystery

One of Britain's greatest UFO riddles refuses to go away as a new witness has emerged - 34 years after the alleged 'close encounter', reports the Daily Mail.

The UK Government is said to have covered up 1974's event in North Wales, where scores of residents reported a massive tremor, strange lights in the sky and secret-service-style 'men in black' scouring the area.

It has been dubbed the 'Welsh Roswell' after the famous U.S. case in which aliens were allegedly found by authorities in New Mexico.

UFO believers claimed aliens crash-landed in the Berwyn mountain range and their bodies were transported by the MoD to top-secret Wiltshire research base Porton Down.

No new details of the alleged incident emerged in May when hundreds of MoD documents about UFO sightings were released.

But now, fresh claims by retired gamekeeper Geraint Edwards, of Llandderfel, Denbighshire, have reopened the debate.

He told the makers of a new Channel Five documentary that a flying saucer hovered for 10 minutes above the mountains on February 15 1974 before it disappeared into space at impossible speed.

He said: 'It was definitely a flying saucer. It was a pity I didn't have a camera because it was there for at least 10 minutes, just hovering.

'We were on the way down to play darts when something caught our eye in the south-east, so we stopped.

'It looked like a rugger ball, but the ends of it were more pointy. When it took off, it just went like lightning on the same line as it hovered.

'I wrote it down in my diary. It was 6.45pm on the Friday night.

'If we were coming back from the pub, people would be saying, "They've had one or two." But we were going TO the pub.'

Three weeks before, on January 23, 1974, the villages of Llandrillo and Llandderfel, near Corwen, were rocked by a tremor measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale.

Reports of coloured lights and objects in the sky immediately afterwards, and unusual military activity in the following weeks, fuelled speculation that a UFO had crash-landed.

Sceptics maintain the explanation was an earthquake and a coincidental meteor shower. The 'men in black' are explained as being seismologists researching the quake.

They also insist that a bright, twinkling moon-sized 'orb' seen by Mr Edwards's former neighbour Pat Evans was just a lamp carried by poachers on a nearby mountainside.

But one of the poachers has now told the Five documentary they had finished for the night by that time and their lights were switched off.

Farmer Huw Lloyd, 48, who was a teenager at the time, said: 'Whatever it was, it was kept quiet. I think there are things we should know about. And things that have happened have been covered up.'

Firefighter Adrian Roberts, who was thrown from his settee by the tremor in January 1974, told the programme makers: 'What are they hiding? There was a lot of military action in the area. Areas were secluded off from the public. It was about three months before anyone was allowed to go near the site.

'What people have seen and reported simply could not be made up.'

Retired North Wales Police Assistant Chief Constable Elfed Roberts, who was a sergeant at the time of the UFO incident, was rushing to Llandrillo moments after the tremor with his superior when they saw the mysterious lights.

He said: 'As we were driving, all of a sudden we saw this green light in the sky ahead of us and it seemed to be an arcing light, but it was very sudden, totally unexpected, different to anything ever seen before.'

Multiple UFOs over Bromsgrove
Bonnie Lewis was walking her dog on the 23rd of June night when several objects appeared in the sky overhead.

The 29-year-old filmed the bizarre cylinders on her mobile phone:

Bonnie, of Tamworth, Staffs, says: "I ignored them, thinking they were satellites.
But when I looked closer it was clear they weren’t. I’m not into sci-fi, but they weren’t from this planet."

Seven UFOs filmed over Merseyside
June 23rd, Merseyside, England. Vince Pybis saw some strange lights in the sky over Liverpool, the first thing he did was reach for his mobile phone to record what he saw:

After overcoming some initial trouble in working the video camera function on his mobile phone, Vince honed in on the lights - and he wasn't alone, as other callers called BBC Radio Merseyside to report the scene over Knotty Ash and Alder Hey.

Tern Hill barracks, thirteen objects filmed
Corporal Mark Proctor was among three soldiers who spotted thirteen objects while out on night patrol on the 8th June.

He filmed them on his mobile phone and reported the close encounter to Army top brass:

Corporal Proctor told The Sun newspaper that he witnessed a 'fleet' of objects zig-zagging across the sky at about 11pm.

The 38-year-old soldier, a member of the 1st Battalion Irish Regiment, said: 'I was on duty in the guard room when the other boys outside began shouting.

'I went out to see what the commotion was about and could see 13 craft in the skies. They were like rotating cubes with multiple colours.'

Bristol Channel UFO chased by Police Helicopter
The sighting at Tern Hill barracks, Shropshire, came two hours before helicopter police officers reported an encounter with a huge craft 80 miles away near Cardiff.

As the Telegraph reports:

"The pilot was forced to bank sharply to avoid being hit by the mystery aircraft as the helicopter was returning to the Ministry of Defence base of St Athan, near Cardiff.

The three crew described the UFO as 'flying saucer-shaped'. The police aircraft was hovering at 500ft and waiting clearance to land on June 7, when those onboard spotted the other craft hurtling towards them from below.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "We can confirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation."

It was reported that the aircraft closed in at great speed, aiming straight for the helicopter which swerved sharply.

"They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw."

Since then, stories have emerged that the object(s) seen may have been Japanese lanterns, released at a wedding party, but police are said to have refuted this suggestion.

Film of "living alien" shown

On Friday 30th May, a film purportedly showing a live alien was screened to journalists in Denver, Colorado, US.

The footage was shown by Jeff Peckman, a campaigner who is lobbying for a commission to be set up in Denver, so the city can prepare for contact with alien life.

"It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera," he said. The alien is about 4 feet tall and can be seen blinking, Peckman said earlier in May.

A still image of the video, handed out by presenters, shows the purported space alien, peeking over the window sill in the center of the photo. Squint hard enough and you might see it.

Peckman said the general public will have to wait to see it because it's being included in a documentary by Stan Romanek.

"No one will be allowed to film the segment with the extraterrestrial because there is an agreement in place limiting that kind of exposure during negotiations for the documentary," he said.

The National Archives has released its first batch of UFO files, as part of a four-year release programme of all the Ministry of Defence's UFO files from 1978 to the present day.

The ministry dismisses 90 percent of the reports as having mundane explanations and leave 10 percent with a question mark and the assurance they are no defence threat.

A 1983 report from a 77-year-old out fishing at midnight tells of following aliens in green overalls on to a spaceship and then being told to go away because he was too old and decrepit for their purposes. Another incident reported is the case of the air traffic controllers who witnessed a UFO land on a runway and take off again at high speed:

The men were air traffic controllers. Experienced, calm professionals. Nobody was drinking. But they were so worried about losing their jobs that they demanded their names be kept off the official report.

No one, they knew, would believe their claim an unidentified flying object landed at the airport they were overseeing in the east of England, touched down briefly, then took off again at tremendous speed. Yet that’s what they reported happened at 4 p.m. on April 19, 1984.

The air traffic controllers’ "Report of Unusual Aerial Phenomenon" was filed from an unspecified small airport near the eastern coast of England.

The men, each with more than eight years on the job, described how they were helping guide a small plane to a landing on runway 22 when they were distracted by a brightly lit object approaching a different runway without clearance.

"Everyone became aware that the object was unidentified," their report said. "SATCO (code name for a controller with 14 years experience) reports that the object came in 'at speed,' made a touch and go on runway 27, then departed at 'terrific speed' in a 'near vertical' climb."

The incident is one of the more credible in the newly public files because it was reported by air traffic controllers, said David Clarke, a UFO expert who worked with the National Archives on the document release.

The 17-year-old Russian said she was stunned when she printed out her photos taken in Ribblesdown Park last month.

Anastasiya said: "I went to the park because I wanted to take some nice photos in England. But then I heard something in the sky. I looked up and noticed this thing in the sky.

"It was quite large and moving really fast. It was size of a plane but did not look like one – it looked more like a big mushroom."

Secret UFO meetings at the UN, chaired by President of the General Assembly

OpEdNews reports that the names of three senior officials who attended a series of secret United Nations meetings discussing recent UFO sightings have just been announced.

Gilles Lorant, a French Aviation expert disclosed these names in a pre-interview discussion (translation on above OpEdNews page) with a French radio journalist, Didier de Plaige. Lorant revealed that the meetings he attended on February 13 and 14, were chaired by Srgjan Kerim, the President of the UN General Assembly. From photos shown to him, Lorant also identified the Vatican’s Apostolic Nuncio and Permanent Observer to the UN, Archbishop Celestino Migliore; and Sir John Sawers, Britain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Lorant said no documents were distributed at the meeting, but a report on UFO’s prepared by a branch of the U.S. National Guard (and U.S. Air Force according to an earlier statement) was projected onto a screen. Lorant revealed that the Report had been ordered by three U.S. Senators who commented on it. He did not clarify if the Senators actually attended the meeting or whether their comments were merely projected onto the screen.

"The meeting concludes that nations should disclose the existence of "our neighbours" in 2009, provided that there is continue democratic stability in the G8 nations, and that "our neighbours" continue to make appearances around the world."

The secret meetings attended by Lorant involved 40 representatives of 28 member states. Lorant further claimed that depending on the official status of the meetings, a report may be officially released by the end of March to member nations that could not attend.

Turkish UFO footage genuine, says observatory

In July-August 2007, several unknown flying objects were witnessed by the residents of the Kumburgaz/Yeni Kent compound in Instanbul, Turkey. Some of these were caught on video by a night guard named Yalcin Yalman:

The Tubitak National Observatory's official report concluded that there is no forgery in the footage, and that it is genuine. Unidentified objects were captured on tape.

Of course, being UFOs doesn't necessarily mean that they are of extraterrestrial origin. So what were the objects captured on video by Yalcin Yalman?

UFOs snapped over south west England

A saucer-shaped flying object has been photographed over the south-west of England.

Kelvin Barbery clicked the picture of the mystery object from a coastal path between Swanpool and Maenporth, near Falmouth.

The Sun reports that he did not even see the UFO at the time of taking the picture, as he was just trying to photograph a sea view.

However, upon loading the digital camera card on to his computer, he was stunned to find the round metallic craft at the centre of the shot.

The flying object appears in the middle of two ships in the picture. It is believed that the so-called UFO would have been about two miles away from Kelvin.

Could the object be a bird?

"There were a couple of tankers out in the bay and I thought that it made a nice shot. There was nothing in view and certainly no fault on the camera.

When I got home I couldn't believe what I had. I thought, Wow, where did that come from? I'm not the sort to believe in UFOs now I'm not so sure", he said.

Nick Pope, a renowned UFO expert in Britain, has hailed the photograph.

"If I was still there I'd be looking at this very closely. The object looks structured, symmetrical and metallic. This man has caught something very interesting indeed", said Nick, formerly the official Ministry of Defence UFO analyst.

Michael Soper, an expert with the Contact International UFO group, said that though tampering with digital pictures was very easy, Kelvins photo looked genuine.

"This does appear genuine. Digital photos can be doctored but everything about it appears consistent", he said.

A man who asked just to be called Edward snapped a strange shaped object which appeared to be 'buzzing' a Navy ship.

He said: "I was taking photos of the ship when a helicopter from it took off, flew west then landed back on board just a few minutes later.

"It was only when I blew up the photos on my computer that I realised what the helicopter had gone off to take a look at.

Ministry of Defence to open British UFO X-files

Top-secret details about hundreds of sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects are to be released for public viewing in response to the nation's continuing fascination with the subject.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the British Ministry of Defence will release a total of 160 files, with the first being made available in the Spring of 2008. The process is expected to take three years.

The MoD has received reports of over 10,000 UFO sightings since the UFO project was set up in 1950.

After investigation, around 5 per cent remain unexplained. According to Nick Pope, who ran the Ministry of Defence UFO project from 1991 to 1994, some of the sightings are "highly credible".

He decided to speak out about the failure to seriously address the issue after resigning from his MoD post at the Directorate of Defence Security last year.

He claimed that he and his staff spent their time releasing documents in answer to Freedom of Information requests from the media or members of the public instead of interviewing witnesses to more credible sightings.

It is understood that the MoD has decided to release the documents because it receives more FoI requests on the subject that on any other.

Mr Pope said that while he was initially sceptical about UFOs, access to the classified files and investigation of a series of spectacular UFO sightings - mainly by police and military personnel - had changed his mind.

One such sighting was of a "vast, triangular-shaped craft" firing a narrow beam of light onto the ground and emitting a low-frequency humming sound that was spotted flying over RAF Cosford in the West Midlands and RAF Shawbury in Shropshire in 1993.

In another incident, at the Twin Bases of RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk in December 1980, RAF staff were sent to investigate a suspected plane crash after bright lights were reported emanating from nearby woods.

They found a kind of lunar landing module standing on three legs, decorated with strange hieroglyphic-type markings, which then flew off.

The indents it left in the ground were examined the next morning with a Geiger Counter and emitted ten times the normal levels of radiation.

However, the Ministry of Defence does not attempt to identify such aircraft unless it sees "evidence to suggest that UK airspace has been compromised by hostile or unauthorised air activity".

When the French government released all its UFO files earlier this year, the dedicated website promptly crashed due to the number of people trying to access the information.

Mr Pope said he expected to see similar a flurry of interest in the files, which he predicted would convert some sceptics.

"Whatever people think about UFOs, these documents are fascinating and show how the MoD has researched and investigated this mystery for nearly 60 years, without an answer," he said.

The Rockefeller Initiative to end the UFO/ET truth embargo

The Paradigm Research Group has placed on the Internet documents from the executive Office of Science and Technology Policy obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by Canadian researcher, Grant Cameron.

These documents confirm the effort by billionaire Laurance Rockefeller to persuade President Bill Clinton to begin releasing to the public government held information pertaining to the UFO phenomenon and extraterrestrial life and to provide amnesty to government employees wishing to come forward and testify regarding relevant events and evidence.

Rockefeller’s move to effect “disclosure” lasted from March 1993 through 1996. Researchers aware of this effort commonly refer to it as the “Rockefeller Initiative.”

While the Initiative itself was not successful, it did lead to engagement of the UFO/ET issue by Associate Attorney General Webster Hubbell, Congressman Steven Schiff, John Podesta, Governor Bill Richardson and others right up until the present time.

The nearly four-year initiative included 1) strategy meetings of researchers held at Rockefeller’s JY Ranch in Colorado; 2) meetings between Rockefeller and President Clinton and Hillary Clinton at the JY Ranch; 3) the commissioning of numerous reports and white papers, including an extensive study titled “Unidentified Flying Objects Briefing Document: The Best Available Evidence” by Don Berliner and Antonio Huneeus; 4) document requests and searches within the Clinton administration; 5) an important symposium, “When Cosmic Cultures Meet”; 6) considerable correspondence between public and private entities, and much more.
