Setting up N900 after reset and Adding Repository in 2017

Few days ago I was playing with my N900 and was installing U-Boot to boot Kali Linux rolling edition in my N900. But unfortunately i messed up phone and had to reflash my phone. Reflashing phone was quite easy as i opted for flashing with Linux this time instead of flashing it in Windows which now a days (specially with Win 10) is pain.

After flashing i thought to write a tutorial about setting up N900 in 2017 as many things have changed since last time i flashed my phone (it was i guess 2014 when i flashed my phone). Lets start setting up our beloved N900.

[Maemo 5] EazyList

EasyList is a very simple task/shopping list app. You can enter plain text where every newline results in a new list item. The list item is a checkbox. The list is saved and also which items are checked.

You can also clear all checked items from the list.
You can uncheck all checked items easily.
You can sort checked items to the bottom.
You can sort checked items from A-Z.
You can sort checked items from A-Z and have the checked items sorted to the bottom.
Auto orientation is implemented.
Orientation is automatically set to landscape when keyboard is slide open.
Also support sync so you never lose your list.

Hiya everyone. Most of us here are almost daily users of N900 and being daily users we all know that Nokia repositories have been down since about 2012 when Nokia pulled the plug. Yep there are backups available of the data stored on Nokia repositories.

Since 720p codecs were also on Nokia servers, the automatic installation files posted by freemangordon no longer works but there is another way to download and install them. But keep in mind that you will have to enable and install some softwares from CSSU-Devel repo. Apps in CSSU-Devel are not STABLE at all. If you still want to try then lets start.

[Maemo 5] CuteTube Video Playback Fix

Anyone using CuteTube to download and watch videos will know that CuteTube stopped playing YouTube videos but download worked fine. That was because of some change at YouTube's end.
Thanks to Maemo developer freemangordon, there is now a fix available but you must be using CSSU either Testing or Thumb as it needs some updated lib files which are only available with CSSU-Testing or Thumb.
To proceed you must know how to enable and disable repos as you need some libs from Extras-Devel repo too. If you dont know what Exras-Devel is, then read about it HERE.
Enough talking, lets get start with the procedure.

[Tutorial+App] Make your N900 menu Look Like N9

bill_klpd created a nice mod to make our beloved N900's menu like N9's. It look great but icons are now a bit small. But still it worth the sacrifice. When you apply this mod then there will be 6 icons in a row in landscape mod and 4 icons in portrait mod.

Flash Player 10 updating Guide for N900 (At last)

The long-long awaited update for N900 flash player has been leaked (Ver. 10.1). I don't know how it leaked and who leaked it but it is now available for us to download and install in N900 and update Flash 9.4 to Ver 10.1.

It seems that Adobe released the update for N900 but Nokia never bothered to give it to the Community or release it for N900. Before you update Flash Player let me first give you a usual warning.

Hamster filer is a alternative file manager same as like Filebox created by Gidzz. Hamster Filer is a good alternative to N900's default file manager which lakes root access and modifying of root files like kernel profiles, conversation themes etc.

FileBox is now receiving updates as earlier its developer was not updating it and it was having some bugs. A Maemo developer Arno Dekker is now developing FileBox and releasing update for it. It's good to see that someone is still interested in this great file manager.

[Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.19

The app which you all people waited to be available for your beloved device Nokia N900. Now there is a unofficial client made available for N900 created by Maemo Member Scorpious. All thanks goes to him and Maemo community for supporting N900 so much.

It is still a alpha version of this software. So use it at your own risk.

Note: I haven't tested this software myself but many users checked it at Maemo Community.
Note 2: Registration using Yappari doesn't work anymore as Whatsapp has blocked it there is a another work around for Nitdroid users to register a account and then use it with Yappari. Maemo Community Software Update: T-maemo5 (Testing Version)

Maemo Community has released an update for N900 CSSU-testing users. It fixes and replaces many Nokia components.

Community Update version is T-maemo5 (21.2011.38-1Tmaemo5 (11.09.2012)).

There is also a small update released immediately after this update to fix a typo.
Version: T-maemo5.1(21.2011.38-1Tmaemo5.1 (11.09.2012)).

Here is note from Merlin1991 regarding Operator Name Widget

"Note: Install the Operator Name Widget update prior to updating the cssu, otherwise you'll have dependency problems. It can be safely removed after the cssu update."
