I am not sure what drove me to do it, but during a period of intense boredom and a stint of unemployment I cut my hair. Yes, a lot of people cut their hair, but I had dreads. Long, heavy, eight year old healthy dreads. Anyway…I will save you all of the gory details, but the result was a whole new look and with it an instant need for an entirely new hair care regimen.

I ended up going with the Bumble and bumble Wear and care upon the suggestion of another friend who needed a hair boost after color gone wrong. Wear and Care includes a mending line for the truly damaged and quenching for the terribly thirsty. Post locs I need a lot of more hydration and protection for my hair and this product penetrates into the cortex (the center part of the hair) without weighing it down. Crafty Collar We Covet

In the interest of full disclosure I must confess that I purchased one of these necklaces at the American Craft Council show last weekend, where over 800 vendors showed in an exhibition of amazing hand-made art and craft like I have never seen.

Dandelion Blu's beautiful enameled jewelry definitely stood out among the crowd and I think this piece is remarkable. She made it by tracing an actual vintage lace pattern onto copper that is hand-cut and then kiln-fired. The result is a striking necklace in either white, black, pink, light violet, or light blue on a sterling or gunmetal chain.

I can tell you from experience this is a necklace that looks great with almost any outfit- I have already received a number of complements!

We Covet Mecha-Fawn

Mecha-Fawn to the rescue! This 8 1/2 x 11 print is by etsy seller queenelectric, a Vancouver-based artist, blogger, mom, and daycare-provider extraordinaire. It's based on a very impressive drawing of a baby deer that her daughter did when she was seven. I, on the other hand, am still mastering stick figures.

All proceeds from the sales of queenelectric's prints will go toward her daughter's education. Rad and for a good cause!

From what I can tell, these plush peas-in-a-pod don't exist in toy form yet. They're some of the newest characters set to debut in the upcoming Disney feature Toy Story 3 and knowing Disney, I'd be willing to bet that they'll be available for purchase sooner than later. Aren't they cute, though? My son is a little too old for them, but I can see babies and toddlers playing with them for hours on end.

I cannot appropriately express how much I enjoy (and yet fear) this site. For as many great Etsy finds as I have posted here, there are an equal number of horrible, horrible very scary hilariously bad NSFW items that Regretsy shares from that very same site. Plus they get some of the most hilarious mail (Pretty much all NSFW!).

The t-shirt design to the left has a whooole lotta context but is just funny on its own. This design (including "Namaste, bitches" in Sanskrit) is also available in a magnet, mousepad, and coffee cup and I think it's brilliant.

People experienced in composting might scoff at this, but I can't resist a gadget. The NatureMill Electric Composter is small enough to fit into a kitchen cabinet and automatically turns and aerates your kitchen waste, transforming it into fertilizer for your garden in about two weeks. Kind of pricey, but I think you're mostly paying for convenience.

Sometimes I need to rescue my friends with kids. With the snow piling up outside, they are stuck. Stuck with screaming, pouty kids who have run out of fun and believe it’s all their mother’s doing. Someday, the snow will begin to melt and spring will begin, bringing with it countless gray, rainy days. Hold on. I'm getting verklempt.
