General Information

Doi Suthep-Pui used to be known as Doi Oi Chang. Its new name comes from the name of a hermit, Prarusiwasuthep who lived at Doi Suthep-Pui was a protected forest. In 1973, The Royal Forest Department decided that Doi Suthep and 13 other forest areas in the country should eventually be national parks. The Royal Forest Department sent Mr.Panya Boonsomboon to survey the area.

After that, the national park committed decided that only forest in good condition should be included in Doi Suthep-Pui National park and areas occupied by villagers should be excluded. In 1981, as the 24th national park of Thailand which encompasses 161.06 square kilometers. The following year, an additional 100 square kilometers were annexed to the park, bringing the total to 261.06 square kilometers.

Geography

Doi Suthep, Doi Buakha and Doi Pui are the three main peaks in the park. The highest peak, Doi Pui, rises to 1,685 meters above mean sea levels.

Climate

Because of the high altitude, the weather on the upper slopes of the mountains is cool and pleasant all year even in hot season, average temperature is about 20 - 23 degree celsuis. In the cool season, the air is cold and clear. Temperature can drop as low as 6 degree celsuis in February, August and September are the wettest months with rain falling daily.

Flora and Fauna

There are two basic types of forest on the mountain: Deciduous forest below about 1,000 m elevation and evergreen forest above. The deciduous is further divided into two kinds, deciduous dipterocarp-oak Forest in the driest areas and mixed evergreen deciduous forest along streams and gullies. Common species are trees of the families Dipterocarpaceae, Fagaceae and Magnoliaceae.

Wildlife in the park includes common muntjac, wild boar, macaque and other small mammals. More than 300 species of birds can be seen here, including red junglefowl, pheasants, eagles, parrots, bulbuls and minivets. Rare species of amphibian, the crocodile salamander that can be found in only four localities in Thailand, one in Doi Suthep.
Walking in the Creek

Most of the trek is walking in the creek even though it is flat. However, it is not easy to walk. An inexperienced person needs to wear proper boots. Have to see toward and walk on the big rock by using the center of foot stepping on the rock. The best way is follow the experience persons.

Walking in the Jungle

In the jungle is very humid and hot during the day because the airflow is not so well, especially in the valley. You need to use more power to adjust the temperature. The problems are the humid; your sweat cannot dry fast so will make you feel uncomfortable. So if you feel very hot, need to stop and wash your face to cool down but not sit in the water. Should not wear thick clothes but wear long sleeve shirt.

Climb the Steep Hill

Because you need to use more power to climb up hill for 15 times compare to the flat. Take a deep breath for more oxygen and stop shortly don't walk very fast. Need to use hands to hold the branches so can help your knee. Bring some candy to give more energy.

Cramps Preventing

When you walk for some times, your body will lose more water then can cause cramps. Cramps are from the stress in muscle so need to sit down and lay your legs higher to help the blood flows well. Take some salt to refresh the salt that loses with sweat.

National Parks have many beautiful areas such as mountains, lakes. Grass fields, jungles, plants, flowers, and wild lives that attract the visitors to take pictures.

Tools

Presently, to take photos is not difficult as there is many comfort tools for selecting.

#Camera The more comfortable camera is 35 mm, both in compact or manual that can zoom in or adjust the focus.

#Lenses the suitable lenses for taking a picture of mountain and waterfall should be 24, 28, and 35 mm depend on the need pf the photographers. Currently, there is 20-35 mm that is very good and more comfortable to carry.

#Macro Lenses For any who loves to take pictures of very small flowers, or animals, macro lenses is more suited as well as for any animals that can not be closed easily. The narrow of picture is also suited for take pictures of views such as trees, or waterfall

#Flash In case of less light such as in the jungle, it will work as the sunlight and show the color of objects.

#Camera Stand It is very important for help to hold the photo. A suitable stand should have a proper size and not too heavy as well as can carry easily.

#Film The most important thing is film. If want to keep the picture, the color film will be more comfortable to develop and not too expensive as slide film.

Do and Don't

#Don't change or move anything
#Remembering the peaceful of animal should come first, avoiding annoying the animals.

Thailand Naional Park Rafting

It is an adventure activity and very fun. Be able to see both sides of the bank and it is quite safe if be prepared and follow the instruction without careless. However the visitors should be able to swim in case of accident.

           Where ?
There are many places where can go for rafting such as Mae Charim National Park, Oob Luang National Park, and Kao Yai National Park. Each place is different in the levels of difficulty and suitable seasons. Some places are good when dry season and some is good in water season. Please check with each national park before.

           Do and Don't

Wearing the helmet and life clothes all the time

Check every piece of tools before

Wear comfort clothes not thick or tight clothes

Should have robe or torch for any unexpected situations

Cave Touring in Thailand National park

It is another activity that excites the tourists who have been in these caves. Darkness and calmness are challenging anybody. The beautiful caves are the prizes for the visitors. There are many kinds of stalactites in the caves. We can learn about geology and natural phenomenon that create the appearance in the cave as well as the ancient pictures and any evidences that still left in the caves.

Where
Thailand has many beautiful caves in every part but most of the tourist will visit only developed caves where were discovered and built the path for tourists. Some caves were installed the light therefore we can walk with safe such as Pa-Thai Cave, Pra thart Cave, and Dow Dueng Cave. For many caves are quite difficult to get in. They need to have some special tools and techniques so it is not suited for general visitors because it is too dangerous.

Clothing
Clothing the protective clothes and proper shoes that can help in walking in the cave because the visitors need to climb up and down from a very steep cliff. Wear the protective cap for avoiding your head knocking with the rocks.

Tools
The very important things are the torches or lamps that help in seeing the path or everything inside the cave clearly. Don't light any fire, candles, and lamp that can cause the smoke because it can leave the smoke on the stalactites.

When
Even though most of the caves can visit a whole year but some caves where have a small creek inside such as Tham Tran Lod Cave is good to travel in dry season only. For any caves that close to the sea such as Tham Lod Phanga Cave or Tham Lod Puyu where the entrance is closed to the sea. When the seal level is higher the water will flood the entrance the visitors need to wait until the sea level is going down. Therefore these kinds of caves the visitors need to check the sea level before.

Do and Don't
Caves are very sensitive for any intruders. Visitors must avoid any kinds of activities that cause any damages in the caves.

#Don't touch any stalactites or any limestone in the cave because can break or stop the development of them.
#Don't write on the wall in the caves.
#Don't walk outside the designate path because can cause damage or get lost.
#Don't bring anything in the cave out because it is more value when in the cave.
#Don't lit in the cave because in the cave has many kinds of lives what you do can change the environment of them.

Diving

Many islands in national parks still have broad coral reefs, the highest dream of diving lover, which are the habitat of many creatures of the world under the sea, such as, scleractinian coral, soft coral, sponge, sea anemone, coralline, and many types of animals.

Coral reef can be found only in shallow water, which the sunlight can get through, about five meters sloping to more than 40 meters that is called deep-water coral. There are two types of diving, such as; shallow water diving called 'Snorkeling', and deep water diving called 'Scuba diving', each of which uses different equipment and style of diving.

Snorkeling is shallow water diving, which has diving mask with breathing pipe be an important device. Divers only make themselves float on the water, and put their faces down to see under-water scenery and animals. This type of diving is quite easy and not dangerous, so visitors can go diving by themselves.

Not only using diving mask with breathing pipe, but diver should wear lifesaving coat for getting long floating on the water. When diving in shallow water, divers may not use fins; they are not necessary but only let diver swim fast. Because when divers do not get used to that fins, or not use them regularly, that divers may get cramps. Fins can also cause harmful condition to coral, such as, broken that coral when crashing by swimming or drive too much sand to cover that coral to death.

Scuba Diving is a diving in deep water to discover deep-water coral reef. Therefore, diver have to use many devices especially air-pressure adjusting and air tank for breathing under water. In addition, anyone wanted to dive in deep water has to pass a special course and have a diving license. If that person has not passed the correct diving course, he or she might have got danger or died under deep water.

For licensed scuba diver, the person should not dive alone. The rule for scuba diving all over the world requires a scuba diver to have a 'buddy' for help while the person is under deep water. Besides, most of the area for scuba diving is far out of the shore so that the divers have to go by boat to the targeted place and lead by skillfully dive master while they dive. Anyone interested can contact scuba diving tourist agency, because there is safer while diving in-group provided by the agency.

Where to dive There are many beautiful, unspoiled coral reefs in the national parks, both in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea. Especially the coral reef in Mu Ko Surin National Park and Mu Ko Similan National Park, they are well known around the world, appropriate for snorkeling and scuba diving, and have many targeted places for diving. Mo Ko Lanta National Park, Hat Chaomai National Park, Tarutao National Park and Mu Ko Chumpron National park etc.

Diving Instruction One important thing divers should do while they are diving, that is to avoid touching the coral, only smoothly touch can break that coral, and take time for 10 years that the coral can grow to meet its size. Because the coral is growing very slowly, for examples, staghorn coral will grow only 5-6 centimeters a year, and massive coral will grow only 1-2 centimeters a year. Not only coral, there are also many sea animals such as sea anemone, fish, soft coral etc, which diver should not touch.

Guide to Trekking in Thailand National Park

Trekking in Thailand National Park

Unspoiled forest is the highest dream of adventure and challenge lover. There are many routes for trekking, such as, to remotely beautiful waterfall--which has never been entered by anyone, or on top of Sky-scrapper Mountain--which only doughty person can get there. These routes may require trekker to walk over one mountain and another, and take overnight camping for days. In fact, it is not that too difficult if visitors take well preparing.

Preparing

At first, visitors should ask for the information of the area from the national park's office, such as, condition of the route, weather in the area, and geography, then schedule the using time and target, day by day, and don't forget to make an appointment with the park's officer for leading the trip.

The next important thing to prepare is mind and physical healthiness of visitors in which will be used to fall apart the obstacles happened along the way.

Outdoor Gears

There are necessary things for trekking trail that visitors have to bring together, as follows.

#Outfit should be long sleeves shirt, full-length trouser, dry easily and comfortable. Each visitors should bring three outfits--one for daytime, another for nighttime, and the last one for the day back. Woolen coat or raincoat should be brought together--this depends on the weather of that area.

#Shoes or boots that are well fit the owner, not too hard, too soft, and too much weight. visitors should wear socks to prevent graze during walking.

#Hat is to use for protecting its owner from sunlight, and prickle while that person walks through bushes.

#Backpack should be suitable for its owner's body, usually not over 20% of the owner's weight. When the backpack has so much weight, visitors should use waist belt to transfer its weight to the visitor's waist and body.

#Tent should be brought only suitable for the visitors, and, or using hammock is a kind of expedient because it is light and easy taking. Moreover, one thing so important is plastic sheet for covering over the tent to prevent rain and dew.

#Other necessary gears are personal medicine, sleeping bag, flashlight, camping knife, water canteen, outdoor cooking utensil, rubbish bag, 2-3 cords with 2-3 meters, etc.

#Supply should be prepared, in general, more than the schedule about two meals because visitors may accidentally stay in the forest longer than expected. In addition, visitors should prepare food for the park's officer who lead the trip. That is for showing generosity.

Trekking Instruction

#Continuously walking, do not walk in a hurry.

#Walking in line, the follower should always see the leader, and the leader should wait for the follower if he or she is out of sign, until seeing each other then gets going.

#Do not make loud noise, it is not only no use but also reduced the chance to meet wild animals along the route.

#Take a rest 5-10 minutes every 1-2 hours, not rest more because visitors will be more tired than ever before.

#Do not go out of the route and go trekking alone, even set-off or go-back trip. When doing so, and before the visitors can be realized, he or she may be lost in the forest already.

#When find drinking water, please fill the water canteen every time.

Flower Observing

Flower is a beautiful thing given to human for enjoying by the nature. The national parks are the natural source of floras that make visitors very enjoyable when traveling there. There is an important thing visitors should know, that is, a flower has its own season to bloom for awhile, when visitors travel to that place out of its season, that visitors should miss the occasion and have to wait for the next season in the next year to come.

Season for Enjoying Flower

Flowers are different in blooming time from each other's. Each flower depends on the condition of its area to be bloomed, such as. Plants in deciduous forest will give flower in winter after its trees' leaves changed color and fell down. Plants in plains such as Krajiew (a type of Zingiberaceae) Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb, Caulokaempferia thailanddica etc will give their flower in early rainy season. And plants in sandy plains such as dusita, Utricularia bifida Linn, Eriocaulon henryanum Ruhle, Doritis pulcherrima etc will give their flower in late rainy season to early winter. That means the same flower in different area will not bloom at the same time.

Where to watch flower

At first, visitors have to make a decision on what forest they wanted to visit, and what national park has the type of specified forest, for examples. When wanted to see tropical flower, visitors should go to national park that consists of montane forest in Northern Thailand, such as, to see Dalavay's rhododendron, a tropical flower, in Doi Inthanon National Park. Some national park, such as Phu Kra Duang National Park, has flowers bloom all the year round because that area has many different types of its condition and forest. That means visitors can find flowers more in a park with different forests and conditions than in a one-condition park. Anyone interested should well study the information of the forest in the national parks before taking a trip.

Flower Observing Equipment

Flower lover, in general, may not use any equipment. However, when wanting to study flower closely, that person has to bring some tools as follows.

Magnifying Glass is to use for observing tiny flower and its inside (stamen and pistil).
Binocular is to use for observing far away flower especially orchid which likes to grow on the trees.
Pencil color, watercolor, candle color and whatever, are use for drawing picture of the flowers.
Camera is a way of recording beautiful natural flower.

Caution of flower watching

Please do not pluck flower for keeping it yourself. It is illegal. The flower has its important duty, that is, to produce its seed for maintaining its species. When visitors plucks it away, it means to cut its circle life of that plant. In addition, when traveling to the fields, visitors will find small flower growing in large cluster. Therefore, the visitors should take particular care in walking, and if traveling in a big group, visitors should walk in line, not separately walk to avoid unintended step over the flowers.

Guide to Butterfly Watching

Butterfly Watching

Butterfly watching is a new activity, which is just started in Thailand. It is becoming quickly popular to nature lover because the magnificent wings of butterfly are more beautiful than any other types of animal. Sometimes, visitors can find a school of hundreds of butterflies in which the visitors can get closer when the butterflies are still not moving during eating.

Butterfly Watching Equipment The main butterfly watching equipments are :

Magnifying Glass is a tool for seeing closer detail of a butterfly. It should have handle and 7-10 centimeters of diameter.

Butterfly Watching Manual is a book providing illustration and information of each type of butterfly in which will be useful for sorting the type of a butterfly found correctly.

Record Book is a book for recording details of a butterfly such as color, strips of wings, behaviors etc.

Preparing :

Well preparing will enable visitors to find butterfly easily. When going out to find butterfly, visitors should dress in outfit harmonious with nature, not easily observed by butterfly, and in which visitors can get closer to that butterfly, such as in green, gray or brown color outfit. The outfit should be long-sleeves shirt, full-length trouser for protecting visitors from sunlight and prickle. Shoes should be comfort shoes with socks to prevent graze during walking. Moreover, if going to watch butterfly on high mountain, visitors should bring woolen coat in winter and raincoat in the rains.

Time for Watching Butterfly :

visitors can see butterflies all day because each type of butterflies is different in function. However, the best time is in the morning because the butterflies will warm their wings on the sunlight before going to live their lives. Therefore, at that time, butterfly lover can closely observe the butterflies, after that the butterflies will fly so fast while they live their lives and be easily alarmed. Except when going with luck, visitors can find butterflies eating on flowers, especially, of shrubs along the route. In addition, there are often found schools of hundreds of butterflies in wet area, on wet sand and soil near streams, and other large butterfly feeding places. That is the best opportunity for watching butterfly.

Butterfly, in general, flies so fast, or not permits anyone to get closer, thus, when the butterflies are alarmed and fly away, that butterfly lover must be patient and wait for chance, because the butterflies should be landing in the area nearby. In dull and rainy day, very cold or high humidity, the butterflies are rarely found in function. Therefore, butterfly lover should try watching them on leaves of shrub or trees.

Where to watch butterfly

Butterfly can be found everywhere in Thailand. It can be found not only in flower garden and fields near local people's home but also in the national parks, which have many types of butterflies live, especially in Kang Kachan National Park, Khao Yai National Park, Thung Salang Luang National Park, Doi Khuntan National Park, Erawan National Park and Mae Wa National Park for examples.

Prepare for Bird Watching

Biting and Stinging Insect : Urban-living visitors may be familiar with mosquito, but when traveling to the national parks, they should prepare themselves to face other types of insect. Many insects are only annoying, but some insects are dangerous by their stingers, which cause pain when the visitors are stung, such as bees, hornet and wasp, and few insects cause illness come with death such as malaria-carrying mosquito. Not only that, there are also other small animals which give visitors very painful condition by their poison when the visitors are bitten or stung, such as, centipede and scorpion. In addition, disgusting and annoying leech, in fact, which causes no harm, only bites and dines on our blood and leaves us only a sign when it is full and away. But even more annoying is wild tick, in which after biting us, it continuously dines on our blood long before we are aware of it. The best way to protect ourselves from these small animals is to be in well-fitting outfit, for examples, dress in long sleeve shirt and full-length trouser, and wear shoes and socks.

For dreadful animals which visitors might have found, there are many types of snake, some of which are poisonous, and can hardly specify which type of snake they are. When finding a snake barred on our route, we have the good ways to deal with this situation, such as, taking a detour far around the snake, or waiting until it moves away. Please note that most of wild animals do not attack human first, they may attack when being bothered, even intending or not intending, by human. So please carefully walk and well observe on the way.

The bad luck for sea lover is to be poisoned by some types of sea animal, for examples, Portuguese man-of-war, spiny of Genus Murex, and sea hornet etc, which causes a red rash, very itchy or sore and painful condition. To solve that problem is to use vinegar to pour onto the wound to ease pain. If wounded by coral or shipworms, please clean the wound and apply antiseptic.

How to Travel : Many national parks have traveling service center, usually located near the national park's office, including officers to give the area's information in which visitors should know when first entering the area. Most of the national parks have traveling places allowed traveling by visitors, for example, waterfalls, caves, beaches, and viewpoints. Some parks have trekking trail for visitors to use for enjoying trekking and studying nature along the route, which has many interesting plants and animals. In addition, there are more activities that are popular with visitors such as birding, watching butterfly, trekking trail, rafting and boating etc. Anyone interested should prepare knowledge of the activities for traveling with pleasurable condition including getting more knowledge and understanding of the nature.

Leave Nothing but Footprints : The national parks have their main purpose not only for recreation but also for preserve natural resources such as plants, animals, and beautiful places and sceneries. Therefore, visitors traveling there should strictly follow the instructions below.

Do not make loud noise or bother wild animals and other visitors, all of which has the equal right in search of peaceful life in the national park.

Do not write on any places, it is not only objectionable but also showing the bad behavior of the visitors.

Do not take plant, flower, stone, animal and other things out of the national park, all of which are the important parts of the nature in national parks. Therefore, everyone has the equal right in enjoying them.

Dumb garbage in the garbage pails provided by the national park. It will be better if visitors also help in taking gasbags found in any areas to dumb in the garbage pails if they could.

Travelling Preparation and General Travel

Only some national parks in Thailand can provide accommodation services but most of them can provide tourists some space and area with restroom and WC facilities for tent camping. Some has a restaurant but some national parks are under developing or improving their facilities, therefore they may not have any facilities for serving tourists at all. So, tourists should study an information of each national park, including defining the definite your travel destination before getting there. Especially, prepare your body readiness and your travel gear for your adventure. The followings are some regulations and practical guides that tourists must concern when travelling in the national parks.

Bungalows, Terrace houses or Young Hostes of each national park for tourist are mostly located in the same area of the national park office. These type of accommodation can serve about 2 persons and up but some national parks can provide tourist a campsite for serving tour group up to 50- 60 persons. Most houses are in the good conditions and could serve tourist with beds, pillows, blankets. Most of them were equipped with water and electric supplies but some national parks may control the on and off time of water and electricity in order to save their budget and energy resources. So, tourists must help us to save them too. Interested persons who would like to reserve houses or bungalows you must make their reservations in advance by connect through www.dnp.go.th or calling to the National Park Office, The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation at telephone number +66 2562 0760

Camping with Tents : Tourists can make their tent camping in the defined areas that national parks have already prepared for tourist services. Most of this camping areas would have serviced bathrooms and restrooms to serve men and women separately. In case tourists don't have their tents, some national parks could provide them.

Suggestions of tent camping are as follows : Chooses a plain area with no draining way of water and no hole of ant. In the raining season, should have plastic sheet to cover on the top of tent. If sleeping mat or foam sheet is available, please use it as your bed because it would be warmer than you sleep on the empty ground.

Food : Most of national parks provide restaurants and food shops for tourists. Who don't like to cook food by themselves can buy some food there. However, please check this information first before starting your journey because some national parks don't have any restaurants. In case tourists want to cook by themselves, please prepare and bring some kitchenware such as pot, pan, knife, chopping block, dish, fork and spoon, etc. The important thing is the picnic gas or charcoal stove because in the area of national parks do not allow tourists to make fire. Tourists should buy food materials, fresh food or dried food from outside before arriving at national parks. However, in case tourists don't like to cook food by themselves, they may ask or hire housekeepers of national parks to cook food for them at negotiated price.

Travel Season : There are different travel season for each national park, some national park may be most beautiful in the winter season while some may be most beautiful in summer season. Thus, tourists should find out this information prior to take their journeys, especially islands of the marine national parks would have limited time of travelling because the problem of monsoon season, for example marine national parks on the Andaman coast would have the different travelling season from other place if tourists go there in the wrong time, they would not find any boats or ships to take them to their required national park. Regarding the terrestrial national parks, some would be closed in some season, for example the peak of Phukra Deung Mountain of the Phokra Deung Naitonal Park would be closed in the raining season. However, most of them open all year round but tourists may have some problems of journey in the raining season because some road to some national parks may be irksome and need to use the 4-wheels-drive car. In addition, in the raining season, some caves and waterfalls may not be safe for travelling because they have been flooded inside of caves or have a strong running water which is very dangerous and not suitable for swimming in some waterfall areas.

Clothing : Visitors wanted to travel in the forest of national parks should dress in plain-color outfit harmonious with nature, for examples, in gray, blue, green, or brown color that makes the visitors have better chance in finding animals on trekking trails. Dressing in long sleeve shirt and full-length trouser can protect visitors from being bitten by mosquito and other insects. Some national parks have many leeches so visitors should wear socks and shoes to prevent their foot from being bitten by the leeches (but beware, they can climb to bite other parts of visitors' body). In addition, visitors should wear hat to protect themselves from sunlight, prickle, and insect. In addition, visitors wanted to travel to the sea in the national parks should dress in lightly casual wear and do not forget to bring hat, sun block, and sun glasses together.
Some people forget to take relevant batteries from Procell along with them and face consternation just at times when those gadgets are being used. In fact, procell products are considered trust worthy brands for outdoor electronic gadgets and extreme sports. Although, now most of the people prefer eco friendly rechargeable Procell, it might happen that there is no electricity and consequently no recharging facility. You are to keep in mind certain things about batteries regardless of whether you want Procell or so other brand.

The very first point is to check the electronic gadgets and see which models, sizes and capacities of the batteries are to be used. The second point is to take some extra pair of relevant sizes from Procell so that in case your stay is longer, you don't have to face any difficulty. Just choose ones from the best companies. The suggestion for Procell is given here, because these two brands have made a name among customers due to durability and long life of dry and rechargeable cells.Keep in mind that there are several types, sizes and capacities of the batteries and you are to choose the relevant ones. Several people choose wrong kinds of cells. For example, if their radio or wireless transmitter uses Procell C/LR 14, they may have purchased Duracell or D/LR 20 or in another case, if they are using PP3/6LR62 Procell in their torch, they may have chosen PP3/6LR61. Similarly, along with model, capacity or voltage is also necessary, for the people may go for wrong capacity of the batteries and face difficulty later on.

The things to do before camping is to write down all electronic gadgets along with the requirement of the batteries, companies like Procell or any other, sizes and capacities, and purchase some spare pairs before departure. As a camping family it is essential to have all the correct gear especially if adverse weather may be forecast. What can be done to reduce cost? Here are some ideas for you to consider.

1) Approach friends to see if you can borrow any equipment. This is a positive way because you can offer any equipment you may have in return for when they go camping. So, sharing equipment works out cheaper and also gets friends and family involved.

2) Some countries offer free-cycle where you can offer any unwanted items that you may have. They generally allow you to request items also. So why not put a wanted sign out for any unwanted camping equipment. Make sure the group is in your area and you may be amazed what you may be given!!

3) Some camping equipment may be hired from a supplier. This has an advantage as it may save money and also save kit lying around when it is not being used. If you are camping with children then taking simple kit like trumps, cards and simple board games will reduce costs as children will be entertained in the evening time and if weather is not too good. Taking you own food with you when camping will definitely reduce the cost of feeding a family and will prove fun for children as they like to learn to cook when camping.

Making a Safe Campsite

Camping can be fun, but before the fun starts you need to select the proper area and make it safe. The area for the tent should be clear of brush, so that the only thing you’ll be burning is the camp fire. Besides that, it just makes it a lot easier to get around. Your camp should be located near a stand of trees, so that you will be able to get a good supply of wood for the fire. Again make sure you’re a safe distance away and there is no danger of a forest fire. Many times the only place to make camp is in a wooded area. The same rules still apply, but also make sure there are no low branches to get caught in while swinging an ax.

Don’t set a tent under any tree that has loose limbs that could blow down in a high wind and crush everything. Making camp under very tall trees should be avoided if possible because they can drawlightning. Another thing to consider is a supply of water. You need to be near it, but you don’t want to be too close to drown in it. The area may look safe now, but what happens if there is a lot of rain? Keep the tent on high ground in case there is a flash flood. Camp gear, boxes, coolers and utensils should be stored in a safe place away from the fire and traffic areas. Also you may have to level the pathways making sure that you are not tripping over tree roots and dirt mounds. Saplings should be cut off at or below ground level.

Everyone likes a good campfire. If possible a ring of stones can be placed in a circle for the fire. In places where there are no stones, dig a small depression and line the fire area with the dirt you dug out. Remember to keep a bucket of water handy in case the sparks carry in the wind. Don’t forget when you break camp to put that bucket of water on the fire and burry it. The things I‘ve mentioned in this article may seem obvious to the seasoned camper. Remember camping is a lot of fun, so it doesn’t hurt to be reminded of how to make the safe campsite.

Doi Inthanon National Park

"Doi Inthanon National Park" Chiang Mai - Thailand

National Park in Thailand is an area that contains natural resource of ecological importance or unique beauty such as beautiful scenery, waterfall, caves, and mountains, or flora and fauna of special importance.

National Parks of Thailand offer the visitors tremendous variety of attractions, in addition, they consists of ecologically, economically and scientifically valuable plants and animals. Most of Thailand National Parks are blessed with natural beauty and historical importance. The geology, landscape and natural beauty of the parks was recognized by visitor, both locally and internationally. Their appearances are self-interpretive.

National Parks, in the sense of protected areas, play significant roles in maintaining ecological stability and preserving biological diversity. These protected areas also are excellent places for recreation and education. Up to now, The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has established 110 national parks .

According to the necessity and importance of conservation of biological and ecological diversity of nature and resource, pushed the Royal Forest Department to establish many national parks covering every part of country, from the highest peak of mountain in the Doi Inthanon National Park to the lowest area of river and sea such as Krabi National Park continuously covering sea coast and mid-sea of the Surin Islands National Park.

Regarding the diversity of species and genetics, actually the Thai academic knowledge of plant and animal species is very limited and consequently sometime is the cause of pitfall of nature and resource management. However, the conservation of natural habitats of these species and genetics in the national park boundaries throughout the country could make a confidence to our children that some varieties of wild species would be conserved at some degree. In addition, some academic research promotion is parallelly proceeded and hoped that one day Thailand would be ready and able to efficiently use this nature and biological resources diversity.

Another valued nature and resource of Thai national parks is the natural-born things which are very unique in the world or so called the natural and resource uniqueness of geological form, for example the 75 million years of shell cemetery of the Nhopharat-Thara-Phi Phi Islands National Park, the James Bond Island of the Phang Nga National Park, the exotic stalactite cave of the Jalermratanakosin National Park, Hin Ngam beach of Taru Tao National Park, the button rock terrace and cracked rock terrace of Phu Hin Rongra National Park, the cliff rock of Rom Sak Cliff and the right place of the 3-leaf pine tree on the cliff of Phu Kradeung National Park.

These prominent of nature and resources, if be destroyed, we could not recreate them by a big money at all and also our proudest possession of these nature and resources would be gone forever. The other side of these valued nature and resources which we don't have too much in the Thai national parks are the natural and resource culture of original communities. For example Chaw Le of Surin Islands National Park, Taru Tao National Park and Lanta Islands National Park, Sa Kai Wild Negrito of Taleban National Park , or the mountain tribe community which the traditional of living style and culture of these communities would gradually dilute, so the left communities are the uncomparable valued thing that we must conserve.
