How will a United States economic collapse affect Asia?

Apparently, from what I’ve heard the United States is headed for an economic collapse. What I want to know is how will an Economic Collapse affect Asia?

According to Peter Schiff, Asian currency will rise as the US dollar falls. China is looking to be a world economic leader and would lead Asia. Also billionaire Jim Rogers has moved to Singapore and said that China is going to grow.

Do any of you feel that any of this is true? What I want to know is how will Asia do if the United States collapses economically?

Answer Man answers:

First of all, the US economy is not going to collapse. It’s not even clear we’re in a recession. The great depression was exacerbated by a fledgling fed that did exactly the opposite of what they should have done. That is, they took liquidity out of the system rather than adding it.
Regarding your question, a collapse of the largest economy in the world (we are four, some think five times larger than China in GDP) would send the entire world into a depression. Since we would presumably default on our treasury bonds, of which China and Japan hold the most in the world, countries who hold our bonds as foreign reserves would experience a crisis of liquidity. Also, their export markets would dry up overnight and there would be a run on their banks. It is difficult to judge, but Asian countries would probably be worse off than the US.

Like of starvation and stuff due to the economic collapse of germany after 1918 and the recent major economic collapse of Argentina.

What effect would a US economic collapse have on the world?

Could someone explain how a US economic collapse would effect the rest of the world.
Would the affect on different countries generally be the same, or would some countries be hit much harder? I live in South Africa, and am wondering how my country would be affected if the US faced a great depression/economic collapse.

In our current Global style economy the effects could be pretty bad. Although Americans who are unproductive and have a sense of entitlement could be affected worst of all. Countries that receive aid from the US would suffer for sure. In my opinion though this aid should be stopped now. How a country that is trillions in debt running historic deficits, waging endless wars has money to give to other countries is beyond me.

Think for yourself a lot of folks claim this can’t happen. However up until about 2 years ago most people would claim that housing prices could never trend lower at a national level. Right up til the housing crash. Just because it’s never happened before does not make it impossible

The United States currently has a plan to spend it’s way out of this problem by adding more debt. While increased government spending may help in the short term it has done nothing for the underlying foundational issues in our economy.

Society as we know it ceases to exist. First people find that they can’t access money from their accounts. All business transactions become cash based until all faith in paper money has evaporated. Food disappears along with all things that must be transported long distances. Utilities such as electricity and water stop functioning. Martial law is implemented. Hospitals are militarized and found to be lacking in resources. All those who have not prepared by storing food, supplies, weapons and ammo are not doing too well. Government representatives escort all people who are not self sufficient to FEMA camps. Military begins attempts at confiscation of food and other resources. Civilians that have an interest in making sure no one takes what belongs to them fight back. Many people die of starvation and trauma and lack of medical service. Agricultural areas do better than other areas. The United States fragments as ceases to exist. The rest of the world is in a similar situation. A period of great upheaval begins. The rest is up to us. Be prepared.

Anything canned has a VERY long shelf life
usually between a few years, to over 5 officially
unoffically, they can last for decades and still be completely edible, just might not taste as great

What are some of the best foods to store long term?

Seeing that our economy is failing, our country is 11 trillion in debt and we continue to pass stuff like the stimulus package, and mostly likely health care reform and cap and trade, What are the best foods to store long term?

I can’t help but to think about food storage and the best foods to store.

I was thinking rice and wheat but not so sure? Any other suggestions and how best to store them? Thanks.
JC- Call it paranoid if you wish, I prefer to look at it as being prepared.

No, not rice or wheat, they will get bugs.
Canned foods and bottled foods are good for the long term.
The 2 year expiration date means nothing.
Can’s can last 10 years or more.

But whats the point?
If there is no food to be had and you have it, your the first one
the people will kill to get your stash.
Stop being paranoid.

Prepared?
Then get a gas mask, rifle and some hand granades.
If it comes to that, you’ll need those also.
Mind you, no disrespect here.
But thats the truth of the matter. If the food dries up, you’ll die with or without it( one way or another).

Why is this the first generation that refuses to keep a food cellar or stock up on a resonable amount of food?

I placed a order for some long term storage able food from multiple distributor’s and ALL of them are back up like never before..its been about a month since i placed my order and they still haven’t shipped it…with all the dead birds dropping out of the sky around the world and earthquake activity higher then ever recorded in history,along with a whole host of things..wouldn’t it be prudent to keep al least a 3 month supply of food and water?

I have no idea. Most can’t afford it with government stealing most of their money. Everyone I know out here in the country side have a minimum of 3 months food supply and we have our own water wells. Most have generators for essential electricity. And most heat with wood or have wood heat back up. The city people will be in dire straights in an emergency. They will be forced into the camps set up by the government.

Is storing food for emergencies really a good idea or is it just being paranoid?

We have all witnessed the paranoia of the Y2K bug scare. people storing everything from food to water to clothing and who knows what else. I understand a little stored away is good for those months when money gets tight but an entire years worth? Hmmm! When I lived in a port town in Alaska we in the winter of 2000 experienced avalanches up the road from us that cut off supplies for days on end. It was mass hysteria! The shelves at the grocery stores were bare of everything essential. only junk food remained. I looked everywhere for food supplies. Finally 3 days later the millitary flew food into us. So OK I learned my lesson on short term food storage that year but, is it good to store more long term for a year or so or is that a bit over the top?
It was my very first month in Alaska and I knew absolutly nothing about wild game up here like Moose meat and fish and bear and so on. I had only been here from the midwest something like 20 days and it happened. Of course the situation inlife (I was going through made me welcome the isolation part as I was going through an emotionally rough time and just wanted to isolate as much as possible from everything and every one! So that part of it I LOVED! The food and heat situation got a little sticky there for a while and I learned A LOT that first winter up here.

There is NEVER a reason to be without good food in Alaska – unless you don’t know how to skin a deer or smoke salmon.

Salmon & rice will keep you fed all winter. I bet that the only hysteria came from folks that weren’t born & raised in Alaska.

In recent years vaccines have taken a hit. It used to be that vaccines were trusted, no questions asked. It took vaccines to knock out Smallpox. Today, many people question the safety of vaccines, some attribute vaccines to the cause of Autism. The H1N1 vaccine has been met with skepticism, and it’s no wonder when you turn on the TV and see study after study with different conclusions. Most vaccines are safe and effective against the targeted disease, and stay the same, year after year. Not so with flu vaccines.

With flu vaccines, scientists have to guess what strains will be the dominant strain that season, then create a cocktail of dead viruses for that years vaccine. Sometimes they miss the strongest strain and that seasons vaccine is not as effective. Add to this, the flu viruses are always changing and mutating. The virus can change the shape of it’s receptors that allow it to link to the human cells and begin infection.

With H1N1, this is a new flu virus, or one that has been dormant for a long time, hence the higher immunity for people born before 1950. They must have had contact with this virus, or a similar one, at some time, and developed antibodies against it. The perception with the H1N1 vaccine is that it is a completely new vaccine, and that is true. It is also true that if the virus had been noticed earlier, it would have been included in the normal seasonal flu vaccine, and most people would have never known the difference. So, is this vaccine safe? That’s for you to decide, but consider the following. The vaccine is made in the exact same way the seasonal flu vaccine is made. As I stated earlier, it would have been included in the seasonal vaccine, if discovered in time for production. Since the vaccine is produced the same way as the seasonal vaccine, there are still people who should avoid it, especially people allergic to eggs.

One of the major worries about the H1N1 vaccine concerns pregnant women. A lot of pregnant women, and future fathers, are worried about the vaccines link to autism. While the jury is still out on the vaccine-autism link, there are things to consider. The H1N1 virus is deadly to pregnant women and their unborn child. You have to ask yourself, which would be worse, taking the vaccine and having a healthy pregnancy and child, with an extremely low chance of autism (if any), or the death of both the mother and child from H1N1 flu? Even if a pregnant woman catches the virus and lives through it, there are cases where the illness leads to severe mental birth defects in the child. These birth defects are much more severe than autism, and much more likely than vaccine related autism, to occur.

The decision is completely up to the mother, and should be. When making that decision, please weigh the facts above and consider which course of action has the best outcome.
