As you many know, One Week Marketing is an article marketing plan written by a very well respected member of Wealthy Affiliate who goes by the name Pot Pie Girl.

One Week Marketing first got my attention when I saw how many members at Wealthy Affiliate were reporting their success with the plan. Many even follow the guide religiously so I got it to see what the fuss was all about.

I already have an SEO, article marketing plan of my own and it was quite similar to the one in One Week Marketing but I still managed to pick up a few tips that I could add to my own plan. The Wealthy Affiliate forum is the heart of the Wealthy Affiliate community. It is where people go to get their questions answered, seek support and chat about the latest developments in internet and affiliate marketing.

The forum is comparable to other quality forums such as the Warrior Forum but since it is a private forum members feel a lot closer and more comfortable in sharing information.

Is Google Hiring People To Work From Home?

I know you've seen the ads about working from home with Google - they're around a lot. It seems like you can't browse online for an hour without them popping up in your email, facebook, a forum, blog or an ad on some site that you might just be reading trying to mind your own business.

You might have questions, I'm sure, probably about the legitimacy of this opportunity. Some people might say, "Oh its Google. Has to be real."

Well stop right there. The truth it - Google is not hiring anyone to work from home. Those ads are misleading and its all a big scam. These scammers are just preying on the vulnerability of people affected by tough economic times and people wishing to make some easy money from home.

Just think about it for a minute. If Google were hiring, do you think they would let you know via a third party website? Of course, people can publish what they want but do you think they would allow those third party websites to ask for your credit card information just to ship a cd?

The third party websites also claim in the fine print that they aren't associated with Google. Go figure.

So what does Google have to say about all this?

"Google is not paying people thousands of dollars a week to fill out forms or to post links," said Jason Morrison of Google's search quality team. "Scammers are using the Google name and logo without our permission, and we are taking whatever actions we can technically and with our legal team."

Google has made several statements before on their own blogs and the above statement comes from an interview with ABC News where they ran a story about the popular scams.

The Scam

I've seem people report about having to cancel their credit cards because they couldn't stop the payments. Its either they called to cancel the subscription or they were surprised by monthly charges to their card when they thought they were only paying a low cost shipping fee.

Not only that. I tried to sign up (to see the credit card submission page) and after entering my email on the first page for a site called Goog Cash4U, I woke up to an inbox full of spam the next day. I knew it was them who sold my email address because the email account was a new one I'd created just a few days before and didn't have much exposure.

Shady Characters

You've probably seen the newspaper article sites or blogs like Diego's Road to Riches where someone talks about their success, shows you a check from Google and tells you to sign up for your Google Kit.

They're all fake. The newspaper site isn't a real site, just a one page advertisement. The blog isn't a real blog either and its all set up with one goal in mind. Right down to the fake checks, the fake comments and the fake person it was all designed to send you to the Google money kit site so that you can enter the world of credit card fraud as a victim.

The Exploit

So what's the truth behind working from home for Google?

Well, its true that Google does pay people. I've recieved checks from Google but its important to note that it isn't a job and Google doesn't hire you.

Rather, you sign an agreement with Google and sign up to participate in a free program called Adsense where they place advertisements on your website.

The Google kit advertisers are just trying to sell this information to people but its available online for free through Google. You need a functional website in order to participate. You can get all the info about Adsense by visiting this page.

What you should do

These advertisers who are responsible for such scams are guilty of false advertising and unfair business practices. They should be reported to the FTC which is the governing body that regulates advertising. In fact, the FTC has already successfully sued one of the scam companies called Google Money Tree.

When in doubt, protect yourself by doing a search online to determine what other people are saying about any particular program. Chances are if it looks to good to be true, then there are other people who will confirm that for you.

10 Ways To Find Article Writing Ideas

Are you having trouble finding ideas for your articles? I know I do sometimes. I think its common among writers to have a little writers block. Finding fresh ideas for your articles can sometimes get you frustrated that you just put it off until next time.

Here are some things you can do to get fresh ideas for article content:

Visit Yahoo! Answers and browse the questions. There are literally hundreds of questions on a large variety of topics just waiting to be answered. Your answer could be the next idea for an article.

Visit your favorite forum and browse the discussions. You might see a topic of interest that you could write an article on. If the forum is niche specific (and most forums are), then you can write with the intent of targeting that niche.

If you are using Hubpages.com, they have a great section called Requests where users ask for specific topics. You can answer any of the questions available there.

If you are using an internet cafe, you can go to Google and click in the search bar to see what people have been searching for. You will find all types of interesting topics to write on. (Just don’t get sidetracked by the porn searches).

Go to your bookmarks and do a website review or write about a website.

Go to Yahoo’s homepage and write about the Top Searches (located in the bottom, right hand corner).

Google Trends Hot Topics - if you use your blog to write about the topic, you could get a lot of visitors to your post.

Google again… type in a random letter in the search box and Google will offer suggestions.

Pick up a newpaper or a magazine and write about topics that are there. You may have a different perspective than one of the editors. For example, if you’ve heard an album that the editor reviewed, you can do a review on the same album. Hmmmm…. thats another one too - do reviews of cds, movies, dvds, etc

Ask for suggestions - forums, a friend… just ask. Thats how I came up with the idea to post this topic. Someone asked for ”article writing ideas”. I only gave them the first three..

There are many other ways to get ideas for writing articles. Use the ones above to find some topics to write about. You can come up with thousands of articles… yeah I know…who has time right? At least you won’t be needing ideas if you have that many.

How To Make Money With: Google Hot Trends

This is post #4 in the "How To Make Money Series".

Google Hot Trends is an extension of Google Trends, a Google service you can use to analyze keyword based search trends. A list of 100 search trends are listed on the Google Hot Trends page and are updated every hour. The keyword trends are determined based on the change in search activity for each particular keyword.

Google will usually provide additional information on each keyword including a graph to show the change in activity, the geographical areas where the search activity is the highest, related searches, news items based on the keyword as well as blog posts and the organic search engine results.

Using the information provides on Google Hot Trends, it is possible to get giant rushes of traffic to your site and make money a couple of ways if you know what to look for. Below I'll show you how.

CPA Affiliate programs
Autoresponder

Here are some ways in which to make money with Google Hot Trends.

>> Market Affiliate Programs

Capitalizing on Google Hot Trends can lead to a lot of traffic. We're talking thousands upon thousands in a very short time in most cases. Getting your affiliate links in front of this traffic can be very profitable.

But you have to move fast and you have to know which keywords will make you money. The key to finding money making keywords is to look for the ones that suggest some kind of commercial intent.

Examples of keywords with commercial intent are keywords about products and services that have an affiliate program or an easily identifiable niche market with similar products that may have an affiliate program.

If you're already doing niche marketing then you'll want to look for the keywords that relate to your niche market. This will give you the chance to introduce currently buzzing content seekers (a lot of them) to your website and what it has to offer.

CPA, or Cost Per Acquisition offers are another great way to take advantage of these hot trends. This is a type of affiliate marketing where the visitor doesn't have to buy anything in order for you to make money. The visitor only needs to supply his email address to get more info, sign up for a free sample or even put in his zip code in a form for you to get paid.

All you need to do is sign up with a CPA network and choose an offer that relates to one of the hot trends. These offers pay anything from about $0.50 to $10.00 generally but you will find that some offers can pay up to $100.00.

Another smart way to take advantage of Google Hot Trends is to build a list of subscribers. This way you can sell to them over and over again long after the buzz has died.

For this to work you'll have to identify a specific niche by analyzing the keyword you chose. This will help you to choose or create an appropriate incentive for them to give you their name and email address. This will also help you to find affiliate offers you can promote in order to earn money from your subscribers.

You'll need to have your own website and hosting although a blogger blog will work as well as a free Weebly site. A quality paid autoresponder software like Aweber or Getresponse is recommended for creating your optin form and managing your subscriber list and emails.

Making money with Google's Adsense program is actually a very popular way to monetize the Hot Trends. There are many sites that do 'reports' on the various keywords with hopes that they will catch the wave of visitors.

Some work and some don't. Most of these sites don't offer any kind of value and I would think that they fail almost everytime.

One of my favorite ways to earn with Adsense using Google Hot Trends is to use revenue sharing sites that accept submissions like Hubpages and Xomba. I've had some Adsense successes with these sites before and still continue to use them occasionally. The reason I like to use these sites, especially Hubpages, is that they usually get indexed quickly (which is something you want) and they rank very high in the search engines.

Another way is if you have a niche site with a blog, then you can add Adsense to the blog and post about any trend that directly relates to the topic of your site. Do this for trend topics that don't readily lend themselves to more profitable forms of monetization ie. if you can't find an affiliate or CPA product or build a list.

Tip: Build links and make money from Adsense by using revenue sharing sites like Hubpages.

>> Find brand new keywords to dominate

Be on the look out for these gems especially if they are of very high commercial value. If you haven't already guessed the benefits of finding these types of keywords then you're about to discover why Google Hot Trends is worth taking a look at.

How does a keyword become 'brand new'? Ideally you will be looking for product keywords or keywords with high commercial value. These keywords become brand new whenever a product is released or made aware to the public. Eventually, if they hit Google Hot Trends you will know about them.

Let me give you an example and how I made money from a 'brand new keyword'.

Before January 2008, a "Buzz Cuts Cd" was non existent. Then MusicSpace.com released the alternative music cd and marketed it on television. This created a wave of traffic looking for track listings and reviews on the cd creating a hot trend that made it to #1 on Google's list.

I saw this search term - "buzz cuts cd" - and did some research on it.

How could we make money from a search like this?

Well, my research on the competition for this keyword yielded less than 250 initial competitors in the SERPS. Much of those were spammers and scrapers and so on. Getting content was easy - all I had to do was give the people what they wanted - the track listings from the Buzz Cuts cd.

How was I going to monetize that?

Well, I decided to post the article on Hubpages so at least I would make some money off Adsense. The cd wasn't on Amazon at the time but I did find that the company that sold Buzz Cuts had an affiliate program on Linkshare. I signed up, got denied, emailed the company and got approved. I placed my links and it was off to the races.

The Results?

The days that followed got me at least 1000 visits to this one article per day sometimes up to 3000 visits a day. The commission on the $26 product was only something like $2.60 but I made a lot of those. I sold $14,000 worth of cds for Musicspace in 2008 and well you can guess the commissions - it was only 10%. I also made my first $100/month with Adsense.

And I used this example to show what a new hot trends search can do if you get on it early. Remember I told you the competition was less than 250 for the search term? Well today "buzz cuts cd" has over 700,000 listings on Google! And guess who's #1?

The thing about taking advantage of these 'brand new keywords' is that it allows you to get a spot in the search engines before most marketers catch on. If you present good value and you're one of the first to provide the information people are seeking then you will get linked to and therefor won't have to do much link building.

And since the competition would be very small, its better to do this with your own site than to use other web properties. Weebly is great for creating affiliate websites. They're very easy to set up using the drag and drop features and come with plenty of templates to choose from.

Weebly allows you to create great looking landing pages in little time while you concentrate on doing the things you're good at like writing content, link building and getting traffic. No laboring over graphics software and dealing with complicated code.

Weebly also seems to rank well in the Google so getting free organic traffic is an added benefit of using this website builder for affiliate marketing.

Once you've played around with Weebly a little, you'll feel as if you can do anything with it. Why not put your new found web design skills to work by designing sites for other people?

Yahoo Answers is a community driven Q&A service powered by Yahoo. Users can ask questions, answer questions or browse the huge database of questions and answers. Because Yahoo is one of the most trafficked sites on the internet, Yahoo Answers is also highly trafficked which presents a variety of benefits that can be leveraged in many ways to make money.

So how can we use Yahoo Answers to make money?

You will need:

A Yahoo Id (sign up for a Yahoo Mail Account.)
A domain name or website or blog
Affiliate program
Research skills
To be very careful
A URL tracker like My-Linker

Here are a couple of ways to make money with Yahoo Answers.

>> Answer Questions Knowledgeably

This is the most popular way to make money with Yahoo Answers. You answer questions in your area of expertise and drop a link to your website or affiliate offer.

However, its not that simple. Before you go get yourself banned for spamming here's a few things you should do first.

Set up your profile - Yahoo Answers allows you to use an avatar on your profile page. Be sure to use an avatar and fill in all the other details. You can use the about section to provide information about yourself and you can link to your websites. When answering questions, people will often check out your profile...don't leave it empty.

Be familiar with the rules - Specifically, provide answers that are relevant to the question and only link to relevant pages that adds to your answer.

To make money answering questions on Yahoo Answers here are a few suggestions.

Pick a category where you can showcase your expertise. It would be easier to answer questions and participants will recognize that you know what you're talking about.

Your ultimate goal is to get the best answer. Not only will you recieve more point, your answer will move to the top where it is most visible.

Use Google to research your answers so that you can provide the most useful answer.

Search engine optimize your answer, especially if the question already has keywords in it. Also try writing the answer as long as an article with reference links. When these show up in the search engines they can generate a lot of traffic since Yahoo Answers ranks very high at times.

While you can link to to your affiliate program (you can't submit Clickbank links however), its better to link to a page on your website or a blog post where the reader will find more info.

If you're marketing different niches, you might find it convenient to set up a different profile using a separate email address. Just don't use the account to vote for your other answers and you'll be ok.

Tip: If you're linking to an affiliate program use a URL tracker like Wealthy Affiliate's My-Linker tool which gives you stats on how often your link is used.

Because Yahoo Answers has a database of questions that is over 3 years old it is a great place to do niche research. Many of the questions get asked over and over and point to problems that a specific target audience might have. You can use this to your advantage to make money online.

How To Make Money With: Forums

Welcome to the first post in the "How To Make Money Series". Today I'm going to show you how to make money with forums.

There are many ways to make money online and forum marketing is just one of the low cost methods you can use to get traffic and even direct sales. You don't need any money at all to make money with forums but for some of the more advanced techniques you might need to make a little investment.

In order to make money with forums you will need:

A niche market
A forum account
An affiliate program
Your own product
A website

Optional:

An autoresponder
Your own forum

There are several ways to make money with a forum also, some you may know and some that aren't so obvious. We'll start with...

>> Forum Marketing With Your Signature

One common mistake made in forums is spamming by inexperienced marketers. In fact, if you do have experience and you make this mistake, you will be perceived as inexperienced. Spamming isn't just unsolicited emails...its any marketing message that is unsolicited and intrusive.

To avoid coming off as a spammer, you need to build a relationship with the community which you are now a part of. This can mean just being generally helpful on the forums, responding to discussions and asking questions without promoting anything within these posts.

To make money with forum marketing, you will need to add a signature. Most forums provide you with a space in the profile section where you can edit your signature. Here you will place your affiliate link for the product you're promoting or a link to your own product if you own one. Your signature will be attached to every post you make.

Once you keep posting with your signature and being helpful, your signature will start getting noticed and people will click to find out more about what you're involved with. This can lead to sales, signups if you link to an optin page and even subscriptions if you link to your own blog.

Just be sure to heed the forum rules and any rules they might have for signatures.

Tip: In a non internet marketing related forum, building a relationship before you add a signature works best. Add your signature after about 20 posts.

>> Blatantly Advertise Where Allowed

Some forums have a section where you can advertise your site or affiliate offers. Most of these sections still have rules while some let anything go. These advertising sections go by different names like "Ads and Offers" or simply "Advertise your Business".

You can use these sections to write short ads or articles that point to the product you're advertising. I usually use it these sections as part of my link building strategy and link to my landing page.

The best way to use this section is to optimize your post title for the search engines since some forums do rank highly. This way you'll get search engine traffic as well as traffic from the forum itself. If you did a good job at building a relationship first then you're more likely to get your ad checked out.

Tip: Use bullets, pictures and other edits to make your ad as attractive as possible.

>> Rent Space In Your Signature

We're talking real estate, baby. If you're a regular forum poster, you may be able to offer your signature for rent. You can make money this way by advertising a spot in your sig or responding to offers.

This is one of those methods not talked about much but if you're struggling to make money online, you can use this method as a way to get some change while learning. Both you and the advertiser benefit but it would be a plus if you also knew a little about the product just in case you get an private messages.

You can use your signature to advertise space, post in the advertising section of the forum or contact an advertiser directly.

Tip: If you're an advertiser then you can purchase forum signature space to help increase traffic to your site. You get all the benefits of posting in forums without having to build a relationship yourself and of course, time to be productive in other areas.

>> Own A Forum - Monetize it

Another option to making money with forums is to own the forum. This way you have control just like owning your own website and you can monetize the pages with Adsense, sell banner space and affiliate programs.

The best thing about this is that you can get pages added to your forum everyday when users create a topic. No headaches trying to come up with content - its all user generated. The hardest part is to get the forum going and be able to retain membership.

Installing a forum is as simple as getting a domain and a good web host. Make sure the web host has cPanel and something called Fantastico (most hosting has this anyway). The forum scripts are free to install with a few clicks and you'll be up and running in seconds.

Apply for a Google Adsense account and add it to the forum and you're ready to go.

Tip: You don't have to own the forum to make money from Adsense. Some forums allow you to share ad revenue. Grab your adsense id and add it to any adsense revenue sharing forum that you're a part of.

4 Ways To Get Help At Wealthy Affiliate

Being an affiliate working from home without support can be a long walk on a very lonely road...without a map. Who do you turn to when you need encouragement? How about when you're having problems with your latest campaign?

This is one of the reasons why I joined Wealthy Affiliate. As they say two heads are always better than one but a community of marketers with mixed experience can really mean a lot.

So when you're stuck or just need a push, here are 4 ways to get help at Wealthy Affiliate.

1. One on One Support

One of the privileges you pay for at Wealthy Affiliate is one on one support. You can contact Kyle or Carson anytime using the private messaging system on the forums. They will usually get back to you within 24 hours.

I've asked Kyle before for help on a campaign during my early days of Wealthy Affiliate and found his response to be very helpful with regards to what I was doing. I've even asked for his feedback on a blog post series I was doing for Wealthy Affiliate Insider to which he gave some pretty good ideas that I actually used.

You can't get this kind of service elsewhere - most gurus would charge an arm and a leg just to get one on one help from them. Remember you're paying for this privilege - use it.

Jeff Paul's Internet Millions Scam - How I Would Have Made it Better

We all know by now that Jeff Paul's Shortcuts to Internet Millions is a scam.

It could have been a successful system that should have worked for thousands of people if Jeff Paul had used his skills and left out the over hyped and misleading income claims but I guess he was thinking that people ARE stupid enough to think you could make $430,000.00 in one week without any previous experience.

Jeff Paul, of course, knows a lot about pressing people's hot buttons and knows how the internet works when it comes to making money online. Its a pity though he has to use such underhand techniques and put out such a disappointing product and laughable infomerical.

Now if I was Jeff Paul here's how I would have set it up from the beginning so that I won't have such a nasty backlash.

Test the product with real users and use them for the testimonials instead of friends and paid actors. On the first Jeff Paul infomercial one of his testimonials was his friend Shawn Casey who doesn't need another system because he already makes that kind of money. Saying he made $430,000.00 while on a cruise using the Jeff Paul Shortcuts to Internet Millions system is just misleading.

Real testimonials from real people who had used the system would have been more believable.

Get rid of the lies and hype-fest - sure it sells and might generate buzz and interest but what about going for the long haul? It usually pays to be honest.

Claiming that you can make $10,000 in your first week might sound appealing to some but it really does nothing but generate skepticism. Making money with no experience is possible but it takes some learning to start making money. Sure he bills it as a 'shortcut' but I have yet to see a real testimonial on the internet from one regular person who has bought and profited from this system.

Collect names and email addresses - As a direct marketer, Jeff Paul should know better - the money is in the list. He should have had people on the sales site with a privacy policy that they won't sell, rent or trade the email addresses while giving them the ability to opt out. Then he could always send legitimate emails to his subscribers with money making tips and reminders to buy his program.

Respect people's right to privacy and give them the ability to opt out of the unwanted telephone calls. I know this is how they try to sell on the back end - the coaching program that sells for $1000s of dollars - but if someone says they don't want to hear about it then what sense does it make getting on their wrong side?

Replace the Big League Players Club with an actual membership site like Wealthy Affiliate that persons who bought the Jeff Paul system can have access to for a reasonable monthly fee. 'Cuz really, the people who are being targeted for the Jeff Paul system cannot afford a program like this.

I have no doubt that Jeff Paul's Shortcuts works for Jeff Paul but the consensus on this one is that it doesn't work for the people. These are just 5 things I would have done from the start to make it better.
